also you said "Unlocking the potential thats there for free"
i think isnt free and we already bought this utilities to oc. ccc doenst let up oc more than 550/900 and cpu cant oc over 24%. manufacture set these timmings for us. if we hack the laptop and oc it at 50% and ati more than we can then yes oc that is more than the manufuctrues its free..
thanks
-
also i just set up 24%on turbo mode and i cant see any difference from the stock turbo..cpu at 2070mhz. is there any program that put my cpu in full load to see the max mhxz? thanks
-
http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php for CPU
http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/ for GPU
hope this helps
-
As you have the quad, OCing your CPU isn't going to be the same as the duals, as you should well know from this thread (if you read half as often as you post). The Q9000 only OCs that amount because of the MSI BIOS limiting it.
If you don't like OCing, then don't do it... but just so you know, you are coming across as rude and abrasive in many of your posts. Please try to (1) respect other people and their opinions and (2) not post multiple times in a row. If you have something to add seconds/minutes after you post, just edit your original post. -
yea i already download that but the cpu mhz are not stable.. it goes up and down all time .sometime 2000 sometime 2070 sometime 2300..i dont know which is the correct

Hey again guys, I guess I need a bit help with installing CCC 9.7.
I followed Lambo's guide to get the driver updated however I somehow struggle to find how to get CCC as well. Any advice? (apart from searching the topic which I already tried unsucessfully
)
Thanks a lot! -
With Mobility Modder supporting us now, it's a lot easier. Use this on the full 9.7 package from ATI
http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php
You should be good to go. -
Hmmm, maybe I should tweak the tutorial a bit. Many people seem to be having this problem.
-
lol, true. They just decide what they want to do, when they want to do it
-
Hello again, i kept reading the expression CCC while talking about driver updates but i'd like to know, if possible, what is the "CCC" ?
Thank you

Catalyst Control Centre. Basically ATI's counterpart to NVPanel, it runs on .net programming.
It allows you to tweak some display and 3d settings outside of games, and is where you go to alter powerplay; overdrive if you have it ETC. -
Hey guys I need some help. I'm sure there are answers in this thread already, but seeing as it is over a 100 pages, it will be hard to find everything.
I have had my gt725 for a month now, it is the p8600 version.
First question, what is the difference between "high performance" and "gaming" mode?
Second question, I cannot turn on both "gaming" mode and "turbo" mode at the same time... is this normal?
Third question, I downloaded the latest MSI driver for GPU, I CAN play CoD4 and CoD5 with maxed settings at 2xAA on native resolution (1680x1050), but CANNOT play Crysis. In order to get Crysis running on average 30fps I have to play medium-ish high at 720p. Is this normal for this game? Also, Oblivion and Fallout 3 get real laggy (under 25fps) whilst walking outdoors, is that normal? Oblivion is only ran at 720p with maxed setting, HDR enabled, and no AA.
Sorry to ask questions that were probably answered already, but thanks to those who indeed answer again
-
omg i have 9.7 ccc and i play cod5mp and i only get 70-78 gpu temp max!!
))))))))) and the gpu doenst load at 100% ..hmm i like
-
Have you upgraded your drivers to the latest? So far I've had best success with the 9.6 drivers. Open your CCC and set all of your settings to performance (AA, advanced AA, mipmap detail, anistropic filtering, standard settings, I left my catalyst AI at full advanced).
Turbo mode and gaming mode are two different modes, the turbo mode overclocks your CPU at the % in your bios. I always play on gaming mode and never use my turbo button. Also when you play games do you leave your computer plugged into an AC outlet? If not then yoour GPU will downclock to around 300/300 and you will lag in some games.
When I log onto windows I always click high performance first, then click on the ECO button into gaming mode.
I see very little - no lag in Crysis @ very high
FO3 is maxed on 1920x1080 with no issues
Oblivion has no issues whatsoever maxed out with upgraded texture pack
FC2 plays with no lag at 1680x1050 and maxed settings
Grid has no issues maxed out on 1680x1050
I'm using the Q9000 quad-core model but you shouldn't be having the issues you're having with your p8600. I'd say go ahead and upgrade your drivers and then change your settings as I described above in CCC.
Have you run a 3dmark06 on your computer yet for baseline scores? Just curious. Lambo has a good tutorial on how to change the driver in his sig, check it out.
If you have ay other questions feel free to ask away. -
AFAIK "gaming mode" is for gaming on battery. If you are plugged into AC (which you should be whenever possible) use either turbo mode or nothing. Without turbo on I can max out Oblivion (Ultra high, native res, HDR (So no AA)). With turbo on, you should be able to get 30fps on Crysis with 1680x1050 everything on High and no AA. I play with 2xAA because I'm fine with 25 fps. Make sure your power settings are on High performance and you are plugged in.
-
I FINALLY sorted this. Just make a bootable usb and copy these files then run the batch file.. CTRL and Fn successfully swapped. REEEESULT!
PLEASE only try this is you are prepared to total your laptop. Unlikely but it COULD happen. Make sure you are on A/CAttached Files:

Which BIOS version is this based off of? 1.0R, S, T, or U?
-
Well i wondered that to start with bit it's not actually the "bios" bios that you flash.. It's the EC firmware which i tihnk you can still download (original version )on the MSI website if you ever need to go back.
I'm running on 1.0S with the attached modded EC firmware. All good
People have been using since early this year so it all looks good. Even found a nice guide
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=357448
Page 6 shows how to deal with the keys. It's a GX620 buts it's pretty much the same
) Don't worry about the power strip problems. It's fine for the GT725
-
Thanks brother. Do you mind if I make a tut out of this? Sorry I've been slack with the thermal paste tut everyone, I've just bought a car. Supra
-
No worries
Go for it. I can't really take the glory for it. I've just pulled a few dif sources together that were posted ages ago for everyone that is still reading this far in lol
Having fun with the Supra?
-
hey i have guad core 2075 64bt 4gb ram anf i only take 10009.why you took more on 3dmark06>
thanks -
Alexrose1uk Music, Media, Game
He's clocked much higher than you. 06 loves quads, and scores them accordingly; however hes running just shy of 50% faster per core than you, which matters more to 99% of the applications on the market today.
Your quad will multitask a bit more flexibly though, if you were running even at 2400Mhz compared to his 2.93, your CPU score/overall 3dmark06 score would most likely beat his handily.
This is why Vantage GPU scores are becoming more popular to compare video performance
-
Agreed, I can't break 10k without turbo. 3dmark06 is dying out. I gave up on it when I saw the GTS 160 give similar scores to the GTX 260. 3dmark Vantage will take over very soon... I may actually shell out $7 for the low version.
-
Alright I got the newest driver... at least I think I did. My driver version reads 8.632.0.0. My CCC says it is version 9.7.
To be honest though, I haven't noticed much difference. My fps still drops below 25 in the outdoor whilst playing Oblivion. Understand, this only happens when I'm in a field of very colorful grass, is that normal? Call of duty runs perfectly fine, except in one map named Seelow, it stutters. Actually, stuttering happens a lot for me. The main problem right now is my games stutter a lot, even when fps is at the norm. I do have V-sync disabled. I play my games plugged in and in either high performance or turbo mode.
As far as I know, all my drivers are up to date. I still have a good amount of space left on my drive, about 100gb or so.
Anything else that could be hindering my game performance or is this just how good the mobility 4850 is supposed to run?
Side notes -
It gets just a tad bit laggy if CoD is run at 4xAA.
Oblivion and Fallout 3 run perfect indoors, but sometimes in cities and especially outdoors it gets stutters and lags.
Can anyone with the p8600 give me some of their FPS in the games I mentioned. Oblivion, Fallout 3, Cod 4 and 5, Crysis, Trine. What settings?
Also, I need to know where it is you are getting your framerate, because I understand different environments will have dramatic effects on fps. -
Ah it's all good, but now you've perked my interest on my biggest hobby. You said you just bought a Supra, MKIV? What year? Twin Turbo? How much did you end up paying? I wa thinking about picking up a japanese model earlier this year (I'm stationed in Germany) for $13,200. Twin turbo, 68,000 km's. I'm going home in 2 weeks for my R&R (leave) from Iraq and I'm picking up an 05 Evo with 37k on the clock. Silver w/ the SSL package.
-
Just curious what it is you're using to get the framerates inside the games? Using F.R.A.P.S. during gaming is going to cause some stuttering and lag.
On your p8600 click to performance mode then click your turbo mode and try it out and see if it helps with any lag. Did you change the settings in your CCC? You could try running overdrive and seeing it it overclocks your GPU any to help stabilize the games? -
I haven't actually got it yet. Getting imported from Japan still.
Yeah its a MKIV, JZA80. This is my first car, actually, so its a non turbo. Got it with 46000kms for 13500AUD. Awesome deal.
I don't wanna talk about my Supra too much though, after all, this is a laptop forum. But if you wanna ask questions about it just PM me
-
Ok everything seems to be working a lot better. I put a lot of the CCC settings down and now it runs above 30 pretty much all the time. I still get frequent stutters every... five minutes or so, but it is smoother.
One thing I noticed, my textures seem to be REALLY low resolution. Even on Crysis, everything is really pixel-ish when I look up close. Is that normal? From a few in-game feet away the textures of wall and dirt look nice, but as soon as I get within touch range, it gets really ugly.
Any other tweaks to squeeze every last amount of performance out of my machine?
Thanks in advance guys
-
I used to have a MKIV twin turbo GTE 3.0. Was pretty awesome, did 165mph on the A34 once. Spent a lot of money on that car, used to really turn heads.
-
Sounds like your bi/tri linear settings are set right down, this sorts out pixel rendering across mip-map resolutions in your game environment. Not sure if the CCC handles this also and may be over riding your game settings? I'd have to check. I've set all the CCC settings to let game decide.
-
so 36mark06 isnt for guad cores.. what about vantage GPU?? is better for me?
-
lol your saying that it has only 46000kms and you think is true?
my dad is working at car dealer.and he brings cars from japan..he didnt left any with real kms..loli am pretty sure that your kms was double..
-
kinda of agree that's only 30,000 miles. Where's it been in a garage? Sorry continue with the MSI posts
-
can you tell me what 32bit windows cant load more than 3gb or ram?thanks
-
none .. only 64bit can support 4gb and up
-
All 32 bit windows can only utilize 3gb of ram, only 64 bit windows can utilize anything more than 3gb.
-
HOW many times have we done this? am i being rude? its even recentyl too..
READ the pages!!! -
lol, yeah that has been said countless times. bout time someone stood up for whats right and good.
(BTW, just change the display drivers tut, telling everyone how to install MSI CCC.) -
Then your dad should be shut down.
-
i mean WHY 32 bit can only use 3gb max?? wrong question sorry
also is there any program or something that can refrest missing files from windows or smthing like that because my windows 7 are getting more and more slower..i installed and uninstalled lot of programs..refresh is or something if you know
thankt -
In programs and features, use the repair function.
-
repair windows no programs..to check is something is missing because last days my pc slow down
also i clean it up and run all uniblue programs if you know them..
-
I think you can throw in the windows disk to do that.
-
are the dashes of red on the gt725 more like light red or dark, metallic red? also, where do you get the one with silver trim?
-
It's a medium sports-car red. It has also been described by one person as reminding them of fingernail polish. It's definitely not metallic looking. In the US, the silver trim is only on the barebones versions.
-
i already found 2 problems with windows 7 64bit ultimate..://
windows media player 11 wont open at all and when i open opera or ie8 the windows bar is freeze and dont working ..nice if you want to pay 300usd for that ...good luck -
Something is wrong on your end. If that were happening for everyone, it wouldn't be released.
-
Also, there are always bugs when a new operating system is released.. just think back to when vista came out. If you arent prepared to work around and fix the bugs then just wait till a service pack is released and purchase it then. Otherwise prepare for lotssss of updates
-
You should also get the Windows 7 ISO checker. If you got it from one of the torrent sites ( just to save download time of coarse ) it could be a fake. This little program makes sure it is genuine work from Microsoft. I went through three ISos that did not pass the check before I got one real one.
