format you hdd and do a clean install .. as you been complaining about how slow it is and other stuff not working ... for me w7 is awesome no issues whatsoever and for the 1st time EVER media player is decent![]()

Agreed, w7 works flawlessly on these machines.

Well guys i think I may be sending mine back and getting the new ASUS G-Series. I have finally set this up the way I like it with 64-bit Win7 and all my music pragrams and photos. I just can't take the freeze ups every time i play a game. This is a gaming laptop! I've tried everything. I'd be losing an inch of display and the Blu-Ray ( which I LOVE.) I'd be gaining twice the storage with 2 HDD and 1GB of GPU with Nvidia. I have a week to decide since it comes out the 14th.

Sorry to hear you got a bad one Jnovello, they don't seem to be too common.
-
thx for the info!. i have problems with all my browers .when i start one the windows bar is freeze ..omg
-
and yes the program says that the iso isnt recognized windows 7 image
lol
but how its fake..it has exactly the same look of windows 7 -
Anything is possible in today's world...that is except for me running COD WAW!
-
what do u mean by saying codwaw.its grade game
i love it
-
For some reason his computer is having a hard time running COD:WAW. Not sure of the reason but either your computer really is defective or something is just jacked up. Whether or not it's drivers, user error, configuration issues, proper settings.. Hard telling. Good luck with your new computer!

hey guys.. i wanna delete all partitions in hdd.. how can i do it? i am using vista 32, GT725-074US.. and my parts are c/100gb,d/150gb,e/50gb.. i want 2 parts 150-150.. i can shrink but i couldnt extend parts in windows or partition magic or qpart...
fdisk or mbr?(how?).. or any msi's software to help do it? thanks in advance.. -
COD 5 1.5 MP.EXE by any chance?
It completely crashes my hardware yet single player works.
Ive played mp before, its got to be the patch.
Its the patch or the fact its 64bit vista im using. -
This is because you can't grow/shrink/merge a primary partition if more than one is active.
What you will need to do is format all logical non primary partitions, format your second primary partition probably D: I should think.
Once you've done this you will then be able to merge all the non primary space into a logical space, and then expand drive C:
If you search this forum there is good site you can visit for tutorials. -
the hardware of my laptop is perfect..i run vista 32 the stock os and it very fast.i checked the windows7iso and the verifier was failt.now i check my new iso and it pass
)))) i am happy with my original windows7 now ready to check them..also i downloaded tiger mac os x for pc
maybe i will try them first
-
i was playing 1,5 patch for hours with windows 7 64bit with no crashing and the gpu usage was onky 80%
i will check with vista 32 and i will inform u -
AND NO you dont need to format or something .i know a perfect program which fix all your partitions as you want in dos.
you want to know which program is?? pm
-
Easiest way to get 150/150 using Vista's partition manager is to completely delete all partitions other than C: AFTER that, you can shrink or extend C: to get it to 150 GB. Then you should have about 150 GB of empty space to the right of C: that you can assign as D:

thanks for replies... i did it in win 7's installation.. so i installed win7 64 bit.. do you know where can i find 64 bit drivers?.. or which are the drivers-mentioned 32bit in msi's site also working in 64bit os? do you recommend mobility modder.net program for modding desktop vga drivers? or which vga driver should i use in 64 bit os? sorry for so many questions
one more.. where is the show desktop button in win7? xD
-
Yeah i can recall fully being able to play with w7 64 and vista 32, but vista 64 is a no go for me atm, might dual boot back the 32bit vista just for the sake of testing.
-
i installed the drivers... hjkl; one more question,, i used alt+ins in bios.. and change the oc to 20.. is 24 safe to use? and i changed ram frequency to 800.. should i change it back to 667?
-
been using 24 for couple of weeks now and so far so good .. but on 800 i get bluescreen
-
Shame to hear about it.. the only thing i would be worried about on the asus is that the 15.6 inch screen has a res of 1920x1080... which is gona be mega small! even on my 17inch text is very small..
as far as i have heard, the gtx260m performs on par with the 4850 so there wont be much difference in performance.. just a smaller laptop (and a free backpack and mouse! which i think isnt offered with the gt725 in USA?).
Also, what games are you playing that freeze? and are u sure that it isnt an incompatibility with win7?

Oh I got the super backpack with mine. Never use it! I'm Playing call of Duty World at War. I get about 5 minutes before it locks up with a clicking sound from the speakers. All other games are fine. The other major problem is I can't get windows to resume after a few hours. I always end up having to put the install disk in to repair it, and if that doesn't work restore from another day. It's driving me nuts! I don't want to give this machine up, but if it's a reoccurring issue like this i can't deal with it everyday. Some days it takes me 20 minutes just to boot. Maybe I should do a clean install of Win 7 again.
-
Clicks sounds like the hard drive is going, atleast you can get 5 minutes of world at war in
my hardware just crashes, and my computer becomes unusable!
-
Has anyone created a disc image backup (e.g. iso) and then restored using it. I was wondering if everything is exactly the same, or if you have to register programs again (word 2007 etc, i have already used all of my licences on other pcs so i cant afford to lose this licence)
Blazin -
You should be able to un-register with that PC for MS Office and then re-register after the re-install
-
No just backs up to the state that the windows installation was at the time of the burn.
As a side I had a wierd problem before I installed Win 7 beta. I burned and reinstalled the back up ISO, which also included the Nortons trial. After installing the OS, system only stayed on for 60 secs, then got a message from Nortons declaring that the system would need to be rebooted. This happaned ever time I booted, so didn't have time to uninstall the trial, and would not uninstall in safe mode. I guess I could have searched through my running processes in windows, except Windows would restart, all very odd!.. maybe I got a virus? -
9.7 drivers are running beaut, im going to try cod 5 again soon, VGA problems where im getting scan lines on screen, believed to be em interference or grounding problems with the adapter.
Left speakers still weaker then the right, display black screen problems have completely dissapated with the modified drivers however i can no longer install 8.56 drivers which is ashame, i need to figure it out again, see if black screens still occur on them.
Hating the vga out problem though.
Still on vista 64, not going to move to 7 for a while now. -
No, the click sound is actually coming from the speakers. Thank God I built a beast of a home pc for COD 5. I don't know what to do with it. The company I bought it from only has the 15 inch Asus as a trade in. If I have 9.7 drivers would it still say 1-8-09 as the date on them.
Tonight was a new first, the screen wouldn't come on at all after it said windows resuming. After 4 times there was just black. I remembered a trick from an old Wind netbook I had to take off the battery and plug it in with out it. These just don't seem like problems that should be happening with a $1700 two week old laptop. -
I have the same VGA out problem on mine. Probably just a poor design making the power in right next to the VGA cable. Might upgrade to a HDMI monitor, see if that helps the problem. -
I got 10009 3dmark score(gt725-074us).. cpu oc %20, no gpu oc(if i do i get error in games), ram fq 800, w7 64 bit.. is it normal?
-
I don't mean using windows backup, i'm using Maxtor MaxBlast, which takes an image of your hardrive so you can backup everything exactly how it was. For example if you installed a new hard drive and wanted to move everything onto there. I've given up on using windows backup as it only backs up documents etc and nothing really useful (application data), hence why i am using disc backups.
I just wondered if anyone had used any software like this before?
That is probably a bit low for a dual core (considering 3dmark is more dual core friendly). Are your power settings on 'High Performance'?
Blazin -
been using w7 to make disk image of my hdd and my most recent restore was like 10hrs ago .. you don't to re-register anything (well i haven't encountered these issues YET) as i've been using it for months now. hope that helps
-
ok i just did the online virtual mark thingy and guess what ! my score is 9900 .. my processor is the p9500 on 20% , 550/900 , ram 667 and w7 64bit cata9.7 .. is mine ok ?
-
Hi,
looks a bit low to me.
I',ve got a P9500 too and i'm managing 9707 on 3dMark06 on no o/c and
10543 3dMark06 with only a 16% overclock, with no o/c on the gpu.
As someone else stated you are on high performance power setting? -
i think i'm the only one with the lowest score here
yes i'm on high performance and everything else is disabled (windows aero , and other useless stuff) . i just try it again and this time with mipmap level to high performance (it was on performance b4) and i get 10000 ..
UPDATE : on 24% and everything else as mentioned above i get 10200 .. still very low compared to others on this forum .. -
Lets see, you can set 3dmark06.exe program priority to high or realtime by right-clicking on the program in task manager... If you're running any On Screen Displays for temps/fps/etc. that will effect your score quite a bit... Also, the scores closer to 11k are mostly with the GPU overclocked to to 540/890 or 550/900 if you didn't do that. I only overclock mine to benchmark, since I don't particularly need it in games.
-
My highest 3dmark06 run was 9863 on my Q9000 with no overclock and no gpu o/c. Yeah a benchmark number is cool.. but as long as the computer does what you need it to do then no complaints
.
Just finished The Pitt DLC and Operation Anchorage for FO3 in about 3 1/2 hours together
.
-
yeah ur right ! .. i just did another run and this time it was 10118
cpu to 24% , high performance .. gpu 500/850 bla bla .. i gave up ! gonna stick to my low scores
how's fallout ? haven't got the chance to play it yet .. i just started deadspace and waiting IMPATIENTLY for arkham asylum
-
ok i didnt look the power settings after win7 installation.. it was balanced.. then i reran the 3dmark.. i got 10086.. 77 points gap... still not normal?
if its really safe & healty for long term.. i wanna change oc to %24? should i?(now its at 20) -
Welcome to the club of low scores !
-
Those scores aren't low if you're not OCing the GPU.
And for ATI cards quads work out pretty decent in 3dmark06, but clock speed still matters a lot, QX9300's seem to give the best numbers for 3dmark06... someone combined a QX9300 with a 4850 and hit something around 14k. I think L2 cache may have something to do with it, but I don't really know anything. -
i cant oc the gpu.. when i oc the gpu.. games crash and i get the `display driver stopped working...` error..
-
lambo...what about tutorial of thermal paste?
PP also anyone know about realtek windows 7 64bit LAN drivers?
thankssxxx -
Me too, nothing we can do about it im afraid, but atimkdag crashes because of CCC, thats all i know, try oc the gpu to 540/890, that seems friendlier, if not try auto tune.
The vga problem isnt the design of the notebook itself but rather a grounding issue, ive ordered a ferrite gold plate vga lead now and switched to a 2 pin plug socket converter which seems to be doing much better for my screen, the screen is amazing though i can tell ya that
I got 10600 i think on 06 and 10200 out of the box on 06. -
well , mine is OC'd 550/900 , 24 , 667 , w7 64bit .. and my hihest score is 10200 . I think it got something to do with w7 , can't prouve it though
been having loads of atikmdag have recovered crap while playing games but since i use lambo's inf i've been able to OC'd to 550/900 and no atikmdag ....... give it a go
-
When I install windows 7 is there anywehre i can install crazy cam software from? i dont like the basic software you can get from the msi driver disk.
Where is all the stuff from the "install postion" based? Can i install from there?
One other question that I thought about after reading the GT729 forum.
The chipset PM45 can manage 8Gb of memory even though MSI state the gt729 can only manage 4Gb. Someone on the GT729 forum said the 729 would be able to do 8Gb. (when 4gb modules get cheaper
) )
Is this the same for the GT725 seeing as it has the same chipset?
Cos this would suggest you could.
http://ark.intel.com/chipset.aspx?familyID=35515
and http://www.insidehw.com/Editorials/Events/CeBIT-2009-Day-2-MSI-XFX-nVIDIA-and-takeMS.html say you can -
Its coming, slowly. I'll have it by the end of next weekend, promise. Yeah like I said, I've been really busy. The drivers you are looking for will be on the MSI disk, just check my signature.
-
Try this - http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/News-Newsgroups-Blog-Tools/CrazyCam.shtml not sure if this is the one though
i have it on an old disk image i think .. but not gonna restore until october
if you can wait
And about the memory thingy i was wondering the same as i would love to make my 725 an 8gb machine
but not for now as they are a little bit pricey
725 and 729 should be about the same with only difference is faster ram and 1gb vram ..
-
Yeah, I have tried a bunch of OC's (32 bit and 64 bit) and the highest I got for my quad core was about 10200. Im actually back at vista 32 as its worked the same as the rest of them. I guess some hardware just works better than others for some reason.
-
I've been having a bunch of problems with mine as you may have read, so i asked the company if they knew when I could get the new one instead. They told me the MSI reps. have no idea when the eta is on that as of yet.
If that is true on the ram I don't care how much a couple of 4 gig sticks are these days. My home pc is stocked with 12Gb and it flies compared to this thing.
