I am selling my GT 725! I really don't want to do it, but I need the money to move and my home pc is my real King. 1 month old quad blu-ray 320 gb. I have Win7 64-bit running with everything perfect. All the latest drivers and no scratches dings or dents. Everything new including the box and everything with it. I'm asking $1400 USD and I will take Paypal with an invoice saying exactly what you are buying...so fully protected. I'll wait 3 days before I put it on Ebay if anyone is interseted.

as far as i know w7 pro (rtm) is already out , as for ultimate as the rest they aren't really canned yet .. but there won't be any big changes from the RC .. should have tried the compatibity thingy

Just wanted to let everyone know I'm still here; no real issues out of my GT725. Other than the dots that are starting to accumulate from the paint chipping or whatnot. And on startup my CCC sometimes doesn't want to work and crashes and takes a couple times before it starts up. No issues with the computer crashing though.
Playing a couple games; Prince of Persia, Dirt, Grid, Midnight Club 2, America's Army 3, Sniper Elite, Farcry 2, COD4, and of course still playing FO3.
Got 56 hours of gameplay in FO3. Beat Operation Anchorage, The Pitt, halfway through Point Lookout and haven't touched Broken Steel yet but it's installed. Only level 22 out of 30. Very very addicting and fun game.
I haven't been on the past 2 weeks because I was home visiting my wife from Iraq. We went to disneyland in California and had a good time for our two weeks. My son is getting so big now
. Anyway just thought I would let everyone know my 725 is still doing outstanding.
Still only running Vista 32bit, still using 9.6 drivers and no complaints!

Hi there,
I installed new drivers using lambofreak's tutorial. (thanks.) Questions:
1) How can I update CCC ? got the CCC by installing the driver from MSI's website. The installers for the 9.8 do not work They seem to install only the HDMI thingy and ATI installer
2) Screen's native resolution is 1920x1280 but when I want to play games I have to choose resolutions like 1600x1200 or 1440x1050 but now my desktop shrinks. In order to overcome this I used CCC's scaling option to force fullscreen. The problem is that it is not working anymore. Whenever I try to force to use fullscreen it switches back to "centered" in CCC
Help please :/ -
2) Does it only occur on some games? if so have you tried looking to see if there is an aspect ration option as our 1920x1200 screen is 16:10, whereas 1600x1200 is not, hence why it will look wrong. I know in half life 2 and other source games you have to select a 16:10 ratio before it will let you choose 16:10 resolutions.
Blazin -
Well the thing is, practically, I cant use any other resolution than 1900x1200 while I am using the windows. If I switch to 1600x1200 the desktop itself gets shrunk. Forcing fullscreen was working for this before, but now for some odd reason it does not. I am playing GTA IV Liberty City and Hitman Contracts. Liberty City Supports 1900x1200 but I wanna get more fps..On the other hand maximum res for Hitman is 1600x1200 and there is no scaling option in the game.
Edit: When I try to force fullscreen from CCC, I think the color depth changes from 32 to 16 bit because the aero theme(which needs 32 bit color depth I guess) gets switched back to the classic theme. This is weird..this was not happening before.. -
That's not right the game will have exclusive access to the screen depth and rez. This will normally override CCC and windows desktop.
Sounds like you need to reinstall the MSI VGA and CC and then use the ATI mod tool to update once your happy it's working properly. -
when 10 ccc is coming? i am sure would me lot of difference
-
in 2010... All ATI drivers are named based on release date. 9.8 was released in August 2009. So, 10.1 will come out sometime in January 2010. The big changes are not necessarily at the beginning of the year. For example, 9.7 had a big change to the GUI.
-
Does anyone have an issue with the computer powering on as soon as it is plugged in?
Mine keeps doing that at it seems really odd. -
oh really..every month amd make new ccc or what?
-
I had the same issue myself. it would keep 9.2 GUI (MSI's CCC) what i did was use drive cleaner pro after i uninstalled everything ATI. and checked off all ATI type sections even for stuff i didn't have. then i used the mobility modder on drivers and did a full install. I now have the new CCC but with a few caveats. Temps are a tad higher not much about 2-4C. I can't use the AVIVO encoder in basic mode anymore
so back to 1/2 Hr - 45 min encodes. But these are minor caveats so in my opinion very worth it.
-
sounds like a bios setting. probably wake on lan or some such setting.
-
Well i just reinstalled 9.8 drivers using mobility modder.. but i still get a blue screen when i connect my 22inch monitor via hdmi. I was hoping that maybe this would fix the issue.. but i guess not. If i need the 2nd monitor i will have to try and use the original msi drivers that came with my 725.
Also, how do you guys uninstall the CCC? i used device manager and ticked the 'also uninstall driver software' as i couldnt see CCC in Revo Uninstaller or using the programs and features in windows. This is the only thing that i can think of that could cause the blue screens, as the 2nd monitor worked fine via hdmi with the stock drivers and CCC.
Does anyone else have this problem.. or any help?
Blazin -
Try Ccleaner to uninstall ccc . uninstalled all ccc related entries and once that is done .. reinstall it using the modded one , un-tick everything else and install only ccc
-
Yeh i've tried Ccleaner.. but it only shows the Catalyst install manager (i already uninstalled that last time with revo uninstaller) .. not the actual Catalyst Control Centre... which is still in the start menu after i uninstall the driver, but CCC wont start (comes up with an error looking something like 'no ati device is connected'. I think i need to completely remove it somehow before i reinstall.
Ho hum -
use driver cleaner to get rid of everything .. that should do it . and reinstall ...
-
Blazin, try do a driver rollback to MSI set of drivers if they are still installed, it should auto detect the older drives, (i too had the issue)
If not drivecleaner should remove them, altho i did have to re-install windows once because the issue. -
What drivers are you using atm? and have you fixed the issue?
Blazin -
9.8 mobility modder drivers at the moment, although i cannot go back to MSI stock (which is extremely odd, but this is what happens when we mix n match desktop drivers with there mobility counterpart)
Damned ID's -

Guys Any idea what these are for ? (sorry for the SH!tty paint skills
)
-
Mini pci-e card slot?
I know there are three in the machine, but only 1 or 2 are active. -
you opened your gt725?? you didnt lost your warranty?
-
I think alot of people dont get warrenty seals, i dont think MSI mind that much either, but they will check if its your fault that something has broke, thats for sure hehe.
-
hmmmmm thanks man .. another slot going to waste then
The reasons i took the sticker off are because one of my vents were halfway blocked by dust and the other reason is tomorrow i'm replacing my stock ram ... and may be during the week i might replace the stock thermal paste but not that sure in doing so coz my temp are very good at the mo
.. 46 when browsing and when gaming it's quite low too -
Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith
it's the tv tuner cable. -
My temps are a bit hot atm, (with multi monitor) its quite odd, CPU is a fair bit hotter, GPU is nice and normal regardless of rendering twice the pixels,
I wouldn't mind aquiring some icd 7. -
heard some good things about the Icd7 .. they were giving it away for free testing and stuff .. stick a fan underneath it
-
i guess ur right as some "supposed" too come with that included

Hi,
I'm getting crazy with a problem on my laptop (GT725-210UK) :
I can't get Vista 64 and Seven 64 working on it. The installation works well, but after the 1st boot (1st time on desktop) the computer reboot, certainly to finish installation, and stay stuck at next boots on loading screen.
I tryed different installation discs, so the problem doesn't come from them.
No problem with XP32, XP64, Vista32, they all works well.
I tryed to update Bios and EC firmware, but it did'nt solved the problem. I tryed also to install OS with AHCI desactivated same problem. Tryed also to install Vista64 with Floppy-64 drivers (as tester advised me some months ago).
If anyone could give a hand, i would be very grateful. -
Hey psylo, welcome to nbr, this is quite strange, are these versions of vista 64 using service packs by any chance?
Did the stock OS work out of the box?
Welcome to NBR, we will hopefully resolve this issue promptly.
I was thinking of a zalman cooler + icd7 actually dead hehe, i want it really really cool, i may also add ram heatsinks all over the place
Im going to be a cool addict i can tell lol.
The rig quite recent.
VGA issues were fixed with a foreign extension. -
did you format and install or just on top of the previous OS ?
what sucks about the zalman is fan doesn't cover the whole notebook .. i got an enermax 25cm fan but it's only a 850rpm one .. that's damn too slow ! i'm thinking about 4 140mm 15 to 1700 rpm fan .. guess that i'm also a cool addict
cata which one is the advent ? red or grey ? -
I tryed with 2 versions of Vista, one is the Ultimate with SP1 and the other one is a "light" version of vista 64. They works well on my desktop, not on the laptop :-/
The Seven version I tested is the RTM.
I tryed both, format and install on top of previous OS. I just have problem with 64bits OS (except XP64), 32bits are working well
thx for fast reply ! -
Hmm well im guessing you do have a gt725 model.
The only reason i would see an OS to reject 64bit is if it wasn't supported, but im pretty sure all the MSI machines these days are.
Sometimes the RAM likes to be tempremental but i dont think it has anything to do with it however in this case,
If your up for it, would you like to remove a stick of ram Psylo? You can immediately say no to that question but others have reported, with 2gb it does boot up, so we could quickly track it down.
As i say, its entirely up to you mate, i wonder if northbridge configuration has anything to do with this.
Death, what i may try is using sticky back plastic to cover the wholes in the zalman that blow onto closed parts of the machines chasis, so that stronger airflow gets blasted at the vents. -
yes I have a GT725-210UK (quadcore version Q9000, with blueray)
for the RAM I can't try it, I don't want to break warranty and anyway I don't have an adapted screw :-/
I haven't modified the northbridge configuration.
For Vista, after installation the computer boot well one time. And I stay stuck after reboot. But I can see desktop for 1min before reboot, so it seems the memory works well.
Edit : Actually I'm using Vista32bits (crap) and have dual boot with Seven 64bits (RTM) which isn't working, but I can make some trys if you have ideas. -
Yep thats fine, what about safe mode?
Any joy with that, it could be an update causing this from SP1, or something thats really hastling the system. -
Could be a bad OS .. try burning it again on slow speed.
i had some issues with w7 as it always got stuck at 99% .. slow speed did the trick for me ..
cat , ur sticky plastic might work depnds on how strong the fans are -
Safe mode isn't working too.
It stuck on loading drivers, depending on Vista64 or Seven64 it's the one after crcdisk.sys or classpnp.sys
The OS is fine, I already used it on my desktop. And here the installation complete with no problem. I tested 3 different discs on my laptop (2 for Vista, 1 for Seven) -
it got stuck for how long ? try leaving it overnight ..
EDIT : Try clearing the CMOS before installing or installing from a USB drive -
after less than 1 hour, it stop to load on vista, and if I remember well, display an error message with crcdisk.sys (i'm not sure of that, i've tryed it a couple of months ago when I received the laptop). I will try it tonight to be sure on Seven.
-
Wow, this thread has really come alive... good to see that again.
Sorry psylo, this is a really strange problem, one that after reading all your posts, I'm left with nothing to tell you to try... -
Yeah, MSI just blew up with people after watching a film.
CRC disk checks could either be caused by ram, hotfixes, HDD, power configurations, all sorts, im still in favour of ram being a bit funny though, will look into the issue further and hopefully we can resolve this.
