I must say, ATI drivers are really flowing, and with mobility modder, this really gives our books the edge, keep it up ATI, keep it up Mob Modder.

Installing 9.9 now.

 

i think i will stick with 9.8 .. for a week i haven't received any atikmcrap on540/890 , 3hrs+ non-stop play in gta4 & crysis with no issues !

 

Yeah thats pretty awesome man, playing eve at the moment, i think its using like 10% of the cards hardware and its sat at 60C lol, im playing with HD but no shiny effects and that, i just cant see a difference when using them, although im tempted to force 24xAA like i did before and it plays fluently all the time at 60 FPS

 

on mine everything is set on default(balanced) apart from the 540/890 and high performance , even windows index is stuck on 1 .. i'm paranoid i don't even now what to do with w7 , install or not !? everything is soo perfect ! never enjoyed the 725 that much since i bought it .. life without the atikmcrap is soooooooooo MotherF******** awesome !

UPDATE : Screw it ! just installed Double 9 .. fingers crossed ! hopefully ati crap won't come back to haunt my asss !!!!

 

Didnt have any issues with the 9.9s here, in fact few things I've tried have been better..RE5 benchmark DX10 has got smoother and the flashing textures have gone for example My cards are at the M17 stock of 500/800 instead of 500/850 (?) with yours

 

since my last post , i tried gta4 for like an hour and didn't get any atikmcrap on 540/890 and the game looks actually better than before alex did the m17 came with the x9100 ?

 

Nope, came with a base spec which I used to do some pre-benchmarks, and then I stuck 4GB of RAM, the X9100 and the 2 HDDs in it, wanted to go the whole hog as this laptop has replaced my old gaming desktop
Runs like a bit of a beast for the relative total cost though; but I really hope I dont need to RMA anything in future; the AW TS response was shocking, which is why I haven't reloaded the Zfactor BIOS onto my machine to go back to 3.325Ghz again yet

These M17 cards are running a different BIOS on them which doesnt give overdrive either, which is a shame, little cautious about any clocking attempts atm as well though as the primary 4850 master died before; that said this new set of cards SEEM to run a little cooler (although I haven't been able to fully test yet)!

 

Es or retail ? es looks attractive coz of the unlocked multipliers , more room to OC .. yer a shame but you can live happily without as you got enough juice from the Crossfire ..

 

Its a QS, only cost me £180 Is a bit of a warm chip, but hapilly sidles up to 3.325Ghz with a 12.5 multiplier if I run the Zfactor bios, which is perfectly stable (linpack stress tested) and more than enough for me, the crossfire actually scales a bit with CPU performance so every little helps, managed to get 10600 GPU score in vantage with a little overclock on the old set of cards when I did a temp clock for testing purposes, just running stock I get about 9500 or so, the old p8400 only got me 8.8k as way of comparison

 

Dude that's a bargain + the ability to hit 3.325Ghz is awesome! nice scores too .. the cheapest i've managed to find are :
QX9300 2.53ghz 12mb 1066 - £399
Q9200 2.4ghz - £189
Q9100 2.26ghz - £120
and all Engeneering samples though .. still gonna wait around and see if i can get my hands on an i7 or something ..

 

Yeah those sort of prices are one of the reasons I decided to take a miss on a quad right now (that and the M17 doesnt always like them), its not like performance is exactly suffering on the vast majority of things either as the X9100 is the fastest dual core chip out right now [discounting the T9900 which is rediculously expensive, and is basically a multiplier locked X9100 with a lower TDP/power consumption, as its not binned for multi-unlocking]
I'd rather have a dual core running well over 3Ghz instead of the q9200 ES/QS, crossfire just seems to prefer it and I'd rather have a virtually problem free; high performance laptop

Yeah the machine has cost me a fair sum more than the GT725 I was originally going to get, but lack of stock (of the GT725; I waited a month before going for the M17), and additional features pushed me over the edge If I sell the original HDD/RAM/Processor towards end of the warranty in a years time then it's even cheaper!

Still, I'd imagine yours with a P9500 at 3.03 Ghz isn't exactly slow!

 

agreed with you , hence the reason i bought a P9500 instead of a Q9000 it can hit 3.1 on 24% ..
atikmcrap eventually came back to haunt my Assss after 30mins of UT3!! just restored to the last back-up image (9.8)..

I can't get 9.9 to install using Mobility Modder, weird. Anyone else having this problem?

Yeah mobility modder has put me out of business writing my tutorials, so much so that now even I use it!!! I'll keep writing them though, even though mobility modder is so much easier.

download drive sweeper pro and uninstall anything ati and CCC then use drive cleaner pro (old one that doesn't need $ have to look for it) in safe mode. Wipe all traces of anything ati ( I used all ATI filters) and then mobility mod the drivers. then install.

Mob manager should just work over the top of the drivers, if not thats odd.

 

you dont need to uninstall anything to install the new ccc.. run the catalyst.exe ..cancel it when finish the extract....run mobility modder and then go to c:/ati/9.9/. and run setup.exe done..
and something about lambo..you said you love me ..if i will say you that i was playing 7+ hours non stop need for speed SHIFT on my xbox360...driving lot of cars like nissan gtr ...f1....and maybe something like lamborgini..i forgot the moddel but is the upcomming one.!! ) you still love me??

Ok so heres a question guys, and i normally dont ask questions.

We have two output jacks that work at the same time, both being 3.5mm Rear Pannel LR (Left Right) jacks i take it, yet we cannot use anything other then stereo configurations in the audio pannel, so can we find some way to assign front and back speakers in quad configuration?

So it would be like:
Front Left and Right
Rear Left and Right

That way instead of running combined speakers, we run individual and enjoy "true" surround sound to an extent.

Im currently running with 7 sats and 2 subs.

 

Anyone else notice with the 9.9s that in ATI Overdrive it seems to refresh about every 5 seconds? It was kind of annoying when I was setting up a 'reducepower' profile on my main rig. I have it set up to run memory @ 300MHz in 2D mode. If I didn't type the name of the profile fast enough it would 'refresh' and wipeout what I had already typed. Same as trying to set preferences in the option settings on both main and lappy. I had to be quick or it would 'refresh' and close the menu before I was able to set preferences (like hide tool tips and splash screen). Not a deal breaker but annoying now the less.

 

This may be a stupid question.. but is there any way that i can control itunes with the play/pause/next/previous touch buttons when itunes is minimized? because currently i have to go onto itunes and then press the button.. which kind of defeats the object of quick touch buttons.
Does anyone else have this problem?

Windows 7 has the jump menu with the controls under iTunes 9.

My CCC keeps crashing, I upgraded to 64-bit RTM of Windows 7, and after installing 9.9 it ran for a while, but now every time I start it up it crashes.

I didn't know NFS Shift was even out yet! Come to think of it, I live in Australia, and we're still wating for Pro Street to come out.

 

I don't think 7 completely likes CCC yet... It doesn't work on my desktop either (Gigabyte HD4850). It's annoying, I spent 800AUD on a desktop, then a month later I bought this, almost IDENTICAL hardware. Now I never even use the desktop. :cry:

It worked perfectly with media player(even when minimized) .. haven't tried itunes yet .. there must be a work-around

Well i just used driver sweeper and driver cleaner pro to get rid of everything ati, (as well as uninstalling driver from device manager + removing ati install manager via revo uninstaller), and then i installed the 9.8 drivers (with mobility modder).. and now i can plug in my 2nd monitor again without it bsodding or just crashing!

However.. my CCC has disappeared. It doesnt load at startup and there is nothing in the 'Ati Technologies' folder (which i'm pretty sure is where it should be). Also when i type CCC in the start menu (on vista 32) it comes up with CCC, CCC Advanced and CCC Wizard.. but they all have the white logo that means the file cannot be found.

I have tried reinstalling the driver twice now (using driver cleaner etc each time).. but CCC just won't come back

Looks like i can either have the ability to use a 2nd monitor.. but no overclock.. or no 2nd monitor and hopefully CCC overclock.

Can anyone help?

ok first uninstall all ati crap.
thenu unistall drive from device manager.
then boot in safe mode.
then use drive cleaner pro.
wipe anything and everything under ATI menu bits (I just selected everything with an ATI and added them to the clean up)
let it run its course.
then download 9.9 full set CCC and all
mobility mod it after extraction
install
(careful the cake really is a lie)

 

When I have had that problem, using the official ATI uninstall has always worked for me. You can follow with a Drivercleaner if you want, but use the ATI uninstall first. Do that by running the "Setup.exe" file in the extracted ATI driver folder and selecting uninstall.

Just borrowed my friends crysis, i've been blown away by the graphics and gameplay, nothing competes against this, at all...

Try Custom installing CCC when installing, but the best idea would be to totally remove all ATI before reinstalling/updating.

I had exactly the same problem with 9.8. I even specified different directories for it to install to, but it still didn't even copy any files over, and so wouldn't run. I fixed it by just unsing mobility modder. Make sure when you install it in the list of whats going to be installed it actually says Catalyst Control Centre and not just Catalyst Install manager

 

i'm interested in doing it too crysis graphic wise is awesome ... what suck is that the koreans speaks fcking english and lame "aliens" !

Yeah I read that too. Seems its a bad deal for anyone with a 4850. Less performance and more bugs introduced for 4850 owners.. sticking with 9.8's (had to revert. Unreal tournament suffered and its an old game )
