I had a devil of a time getting CCC to install once I'd used mobility modder. There' something going on with that tool and CCC. Sorry it's all I understand since I don't feally understand the ATI driver in any detail.

Suffice to say that when I installed Win 7 on a clean boot, and let windows install the correct driver it installed correctly. I'm now on 9.9 with CCC and everthing seems ok, although havn't noticed any performance improvement.

I also take my comments back about Crysis being a poor coded game, for something thats what, 2 - 3 years old, its beyond everything hehe.

 

Done already the last level on DX10 suck .. it keeps crashing .. where you at ?

ok i have problem right now..when i open internet explorer or opera my taskbar its absolutely freeze and i have to close the browser to make it work again..

Any updates on the windows site, prehaps something that adress' this? Or maybe its a wrecked active x control, try run IE in safe mode, im sure it had its own safe mode launcher.

Crysis can be bloody hard too in medium difficulty, but i will definately attempt hardest at one point because im enjoying it that much.

 

i didn't really enjoy crysis. Finished the big boss on the ship, but left me a bit cold, there's not much going on apart from the pretty visuals. Games like this are very serious and arn't a lot of fun long term.

I tried the expansion and then just gave up on that, since it was more of the same.

Chronicles of Riddick Assault On Dark Athena is a lot more engaging and interesting to play. I've started playing Batman Arkham Asylum which is awesome. If you really want to see some great game visuals it looks fantastic.

Still whatever you throw at the MSI everthing looks great.

you should definetely try it on the hardest .. it's more rewarding .. but like fishslice said .. the ending is lame (i was expecting more)
The reason i haven't bought riddick is coz of the DRM BullSh!t .. heard there's like 3 activation limit crap to it ...... pre-ordered B.AA(only 30£ for the CE) and hopefully it won't have any of those crap! expecting it in the post by friday ...

while gaming temp is usually 65-70 with the cooler (don't know without)
no significant temp drops really .. i'm bit disappointed about the fan .. it's only 850rpm .. have a look at the NZXT Cryo LX

I have Resident Evil 5 DX10 problems.. after playing e few mins game freezess.. i hope 9.9 would help.. or a few pages before you are saying 9.9 is not worth to install.. should i wait for 10?

 

With 9.9, I have not seen any freezes in the RE5 demo like I did in 9.8. Not saying they're gone, just that I haven't seen them.

This thread seems to have died down a fair bit, so i'll bring up a well rounded topic,

What would people say is the fastest 7200 RPM drive out there? Size, doesnt matter too because if i buy a very fast drive, i will e-sata up the hard drive i am using now.

I also dont mind about the noise factor either, as long as its not grinding like lawnmowers, my current toshiba hard drive makes no noise under full usage, but im really looking to up performance a bit.

Also do people think we will have a chance with 5 series hd ati cards? i hope so, i wish we could get some exact details already.

Everyones machine still doing ok? Im still enjoying mine even more as the problems i had eventually just ironed themselves out, some problems with wireless performance being complete poo(!) but other then that i've been very very happy with it.

20gb of space left on my current drive now haha.

 

The US versions came with a WD scorpio black 320 GB HDD. It's pretty good, but may not be the best out there. I'm running out of space too, but my 50 GB W7 partition has something to do with that... I can't wait until October to make the full switch. I love what I've used so far.

I am still loving my machine. While it is not perfect, it is as good as any laptop within $300 of what I paid for it. If the new models have a 5850 in them, I would guess we could upgrade, but doubt it would be worth the cost in the near future... most of the games I actually play are maxed out on this beast as it is.

I guess the conversation is getting slow due to two things. First, the computer isn't really available anymore, so no perspective buyers are asking about it. Second, mobility modder adding 4xxx support has greatly reduced the driver questions. I still check the thread daily and will continue to do so.

Suppose we could e-sata raptor , would be nice getting an abnormally big boost out of a HDD, and thats all my laptop lacks, a good hd, and SSD is a no go due to price, its stupid

Found the first game that occasionally stutters the other day, guitar hero 3, its not optimised for quad and q9000 has a fairly low ghz speed so it chugs occasionaly :S but meh, its an average game nothing special.

no i'm using 9.8 . i'm sure it somethings to do with the securom crap as sometimes i get a msg stating i'm using a virtual drive and i ain't got sh!t installed on my laptop ! i use it only for gaming .. for internet i got my studio15

WD says it's not suitable for notebook or laptop .. but it's an 2.5 drive would love to fit one into my 725 and as you said , ssd are too pricey and quite small in storage capacity

 

i imagine to take an 120gb ocz ssd and i will just put vista 32 and windows 7 64 bit.. and my programs..
the other files like backup games etc...on 500gb esata external i think my idea its great..my gt725 will fly!
as i make lot of multitasking work

 

my 1TB external failed twice on me in the last 2 months with all my steam back-up , patches and movies and so on .. altogether 780+gb of data lost .. may be it's just me but now i use a trustworthy DVD to back-up my important data

Yeah len, another option is taking advantage of the final mini pci-e slot and plug in a netbook ssd as well as having your standard HDD there for programs

But yeah an SSD dedicated to oS usage is a really good idea!

Well its classed as a method of internal storage so sure why not, i dont think there will be any conflicts and minitops boot from ssd cards so surely itl work.

how do you update the EC Firmware ? can't get to boot from a usb drive

 

I just got a DS Lite and edge card.. so i've got over 120 ds games (for free ) which has been keeping me busy lol.

I also find that my 725 drops out of wireless connection every now and then.. so now i have a belkin usb wireless adapter plugged in and the problem has stopped.
