I think I will stay clear of this, its beginning to look like a sizeable risk. Thanks for the opinions/info its appreciated.

the only thing you will loose is your warranty as you will have to open the notebook , but apart from that it's kool ... unlocked multipliers unlike the retail version and pretty cheap .. on the other hand the p9500 is doing pretty good @ 3133.6Mhz .
-
Actually, if he switches back to the oem chip when he sends it off, (and if the oem chip is operation) he has nothing to loose, MSI inspect the components, and you can email them about potential upgrades also, they tend to ask if your knowledgable or not with these things.

looks like another minor bug fix -
Anyone here with a qx9300 managed to overclock it? I wouldnt mind knowing what the max limit is in a gt725, it may be my next purchase for my machine to complete with the i series processors, then im going to pray 5 series from ati are released to laptop withing power and thermal tolerance.
-
Aye,guy I know from another forum manage to oc his Qx9300 to just over 3Ghz(scoring 12100 points in 3dmark06)
I don't have any pictures or anything but You can always PM him,he had a post in Your old Overclocking Thread:

instead of wasting time with some minor useless bios crap they should instead work on some vga drivers and 64bit (my opinion anyway , a lot of you might disagree)
-
A) The drivers for vga/4850 are fine in my oppinion, they work fine and now that mobility modder works to the full MSI dont need to release anything and probably won't if there aware of the MM tools existance.
B) All drivers are 64bit universal except for the 02 card one and SCM which is buggy, however they run on the WOW32 layer for windows 64 bit, they all work fine. -
A) all drivers are 32bit but works on 64bit system , therefore they aren't proper 64bit drivers
B) the mobility Radeon HD4850 is an msi product and therefore should support it by releasing their own drivers
they do work fine but i want proper 64bit drivers . time to jump on the 64bit bandwagon -
Did you try them new 9.10 drivers MSI released? They work great from what I seen.. They are 64 bit too..
-
I will after saying adiós to vista this Friday ..
-
dont say adios.maybe u have probs with windows 7.. just make a partition like i did..using vista 32 and w7 64
-
Na , it's definitely adiós
been using w7 since the beta and no issues whatsoever . lena what's your gpu bios ? is it VER011.019.000.014.031766 ?
-
adiós? ADIOS!!! I can think of much stronger language to say to Vista when I switch. Like "I strongly dislike you"
-
No, there 64bit and 32, if you open up the files to look at them specifically, you can get the x64 setup exes but the autorun does that anyway, will grab ya some screenshots,
And for B, alienware have 4850s too you know, but MSI still kicks
Also if you do cntrl shift escape (task man) look at the processes, anyone without *32 next to it is 64bit
Hmm getting rid of vista i would say GTFO to it lol. -
hello there, i im new here.
i wanted to install 64 bit windows on my gt725 q9000 version.
but when i installed it i hanged at the boot screen, it happned with vista and seven. and i know my dvds are allright becouse they worked for a friend of mine.
when i choose safe mode with booting it hangs at loaded crcdisk.sys and osme times at classpnp.sys depends if it is windows 7 or vista
what can i do to get 64 bit running, do i need to flash my bios/firmware?
i realy want 64 bit becouse i use my pc for 3ds max and other stuff.
thanks in advance -
The newest VGA drivers they put on there crash just as much for me as the modified ones.
Tuning into a TV channel on my WinTV results in a bluescreen for me. -
Hey dink, welcome to NBR, i think what you may need to do is go into bios and disable acpi (i think), if not sometimes you can remove a bank, install windows and then reinstall the bank, i think there are other reasons too but im pretty sure the ones i've stated can help you out. I know the more experienced members will chip in also
-
yea exactly that version.. there is newer ? -
Don't worry about the screenshots i know what you mean , but still not satisfy by some available
everybody seems to love vista
ah the good ol bluescreen , haven't come across one since changing my Rams .. before it was like 3 -4 times a day
don't know , but if there is i want it -
psylo was having the same issue , may be he knows a workaround
-
Yeah, one thing i do hate is when all the drivers dont work like they should, and how alot of the time aren't up to date, had 2 bsods yesteday for trying to bridge my network cons but the lan driver kept tripping out so i went back to the old one.
Vista seems to break alot lol, although can look quite nice when custom skinned
-
I take it you mean 9.9 drivers? if so i would stick with 9.8 for now.. from what i've read, 9.9 doesn't bring any worthy improvements and also brings a few issues with COD world at war.
And catacylsm, vista looks good when it is custom skinned... to look like windows 7
Blazin -
so, you guys dont know what to do to solve this problem?
-
Well did you try my suggestions dinkel? Sometimes its something we often overlook.
-
im not getting windows 7 for its looks, but for its speed, i allso want 64 bit for its speed. a skin isnt really necacairy now.
installed 32 bit win7 now lets see how it goes until my problem is solved -
It's the official MSI ones for Windows 7. -
Lol dink, not skins haha, that doesnt fix anything :S
Here, disable ACPI (Or whatever it is) or remove 1 ram bank during the install, i think someone else had this issue and it was fixed with one of these. -
i don't use the official msi drivers (dont know why, just never have), and as far as i know, the official ati drivers support windows 7.
Are you using 32 or 64 bit? anyway go here http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
Blazin -
wow..u have to do it
.. my hometown is Cyprus and the gpu temp when idle was 54-56 max
I move in UK last week for 4 years and my max gpu temps are 40-48
so dont chance thermal paste.! CHANCE CITY
i still have warranty
pPpp
-
Where is Chance City??? wish i could get those temps
-
People talk about outside temperatures in relation to their laptop temperature... silly. Your laptop does not know how hot it is outside (unless you are playing games on it while sitting outside). If your computer is set up in your house, the temperature that matters is whatever your thermostat is set to. Your computer will run cooler in a house in Dubai air-conditioned to 72 degrees F than it will in a house in house in Greenland heated to 75 degrees. If you want your laptop to run a little cooler, push the AC down a notch.
Edit: I live in Florida, where everyone has AC. If you don't have AC ignore me, although the point remains, INDOOR temp matters, not outdoor. -
Anyone notice the new EC Firmware? Not that it's a big deal.
-
There is also a new bios also..
1.0z - http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=135&prod_no=1676
Fix User Password can't be modified in user mode -
...you have wrong..your saying that outdoor and indoor temps are not depend on each other? so why when i was at cyprus outside was 40+ "doesnt matter inside as you saying" and when i came to UK 20c max i can see that drop of my gpu temp? -
what is EC Firmware ? i updated it but cant find what it is.help pls?
-
I think he means that if you have airconditioning in your house, it doesnt matter what the outside temperature is.
-
thx blazin
what bout EC firmware..what it does?
-
EC firmware is the firmware for all your buttons including the on and off switch, if you do ever decide to mess with it, MAKE SURE ITS THE CORRECT MODEL firmware haha.
-
i have already updated it..working fine
from msi.com
-
What performance gains could we see from an ec firmware update? does it make me press the buttons faster?
-
Haha blazin, your gt725 is fast enough
blazin fast xD
It will most likely address the lights staying on when starting up (my ie and media light are lit all the time unless i press them hehe.)
According to the realtek manager we have spdif out, but i cannot see it anywhere? -
Yeh i guess it is pretty fast
I tried farcry 2 again yesterday (havent played it since i was using stock vga drivers) and i can run it with everything on very high (dx9) without any lag at all. I can run it on ultra but it drops to about 25ish fps, so i guess the drivers really can improve gaming performance. (With dx10 it gets a tad laggy with eveything on very high.. but with no noticeable visual improvements.. dx10 for you ey?)
And where abouts in realtek manager did you see spdif out?
Blazin
Edit: I was playing farcry 2 at 1920x1200 with no AA, as you dont really need AA at a high res. -
antianalizing is AA? also what exactly it does?. give me some help please
-
Dude. Two words.
Google.
Wikipedia. -
Yeah, farcry 2 in ultra + dx10 is nothing special to be honest, there not bad, however i prefer the eye candy from crysis maxed out, even without AA.
As for spdif, its listed ontop of my hdmi port as the green circle, i wonder if there is a dual port for audio like they did with esata usb? -
lol analizing
also, cataclysm, what frames do you get in crysis? and at what settings?
I need to get it soon but have been having a bad case of myfunsalow
Blazin -
Well since i have narb res due to advent, i can play with all on very high
Although trying to play at 1080 p may be a bit toooo hard blazin,
. (atleast on very high)
Lena, AA is the smoothing of rough edges, i will take some screens soon as eve online is full of them however i set AA to 24x
-
so what i have to choose in my games? 0AA or 8AA ? if it depends from the game...tell me about nfs shift..
-
NFS Shift, hmmm i believe you should be able to ramp aa up quite high, remember that AA takes a fair bit of the GPU's hardware, as it does with all graphics card, the processing of the outsides etc takes a fair bit, so just take it up slowly and see if you hold stable frame rates.
