If I could exchange my 725 to a 729 I would without hesitation .. I was pissed when msi announced It ! as a month or so before I bought the 725 ! Been thinking about selling it for a while now .. The 1gb VRAM will come in very handy for me .. Games are becoming more and more memory oriented ..

Coz i love my quad core excellent for multi tasking and i love my 1920x1200 res..!! thats why!!!!!! 512 to 1gb vram doesnt mean that u have better graphics. Ram is the last thing u will check on a graphics card..Oh ok i cant play need for speed for 10 hours coz i have less ram with u and i have to restart...

hi , welcome on board ! yes it's an external one but remains plugged in most of the time so ... i took all the grill underneath my notebook yesterday as it didn't seems that effective as the fan is only 850rpm , idle without cooler gpu 45 , idle with cooler gpu 42 , cpu remains at 30-31 with or without at idle ... anyway have a look at this one NZXT Cryo LX Notebook Cooler ..but most cooler seems to be overpriced and ineffective so don't waste your money

Frame rates do suffer when you overcommit memory using the -norestrictions command line, but the power of the 4850 can still crank out playable rates. The comparison I ran v/s a GTX 260m hinted at this since the cards were even in almost every game until the GTA4 test. Personally, I didn't use -norestrictions while playing through since medium textures, no shadows, and very high everything else looked beautiful to me and gave me acceptable frame rates.

These forums actually have an ignore feature... you know... just in case you care... I found that out during lenarasss's first stint on NBR

    Been a while since I been on here, just had a quick question for you guys;

Anyone have any issues hooking up a projector via VGA to their 212US? I connected it and it's supposed to be FN+F2 to switch views to allow the projector to project what's on the computer but it just didn't work. Tried every trick in the book, FN+F5,F6,F7, rebooted w/ projector on first, etc.

Just curious if anyone else had any problems and how you guys resolved it or how you've personally done a projector via VGA. Thanks

Well, I haven't tried hooking up a projector myself, but I did a little research and found these two sites that should help sort out your problem.

    http://www.dynamx.com/survival.html

    Hope this helps!

Hey everyone first post... I can not seem to get my gt725 up to speed! I bought it because I like to play games and I travel a lot. When I first got it I played Counter-strike 1.6 in leagues and all that junk and it was easy to take to lans... it also ran perfectly. I could run Counter Strike Source flawless... Cod 4 and 5 Rand really good also. I remember having to wipe the hard drive of everything for some reason can not really remember why. I just got home have 3 months and I was wanting to play some counter strike just for fun. Well I can not even stick 100 frames with crappy settings!! Call of duty 4 will barely run. I did a few things I could think of like down load a anti virus and CCleaner. No luck... I downloaded one of those driver updater programs and it says I have a million drivers out of date or bad or whatever but it was like 30 bucks to register and I know all the drivers that I probly need are out there somewhere.. the msi driver site seems to be down. I do have a disk and I believe I have installed all the drivers from that.. . I don't REALLY want to reformat this thing at all. I guess the last time I did that I made 3 partitions for what ever reason. Sorry for the long post but I really can't seem to fix this thing! The Ati site doesnt have drivers for the hd4850... or I am blind as a bat!? any help thoughts suggestions I would appreciate thanks a lot!

i would recommend a clean install and use this http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php to mod the ATI driver (4800 series) or just use the one from msi website

well the MSI site is definately back up.

As said already, just download all the latest drivers first, and then get the latest ATI driver version and mod use mobility modder:

http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php. Do make sure you follow all the instructions properly, and make sure you can install the Catalyst Control Centre.

Sounds like from your mail you kinda go ploughing ahead a bit and get in a real rush. It's worth taking your time, cos tuned up nicely this notebook is awesome :)

in the taskbar, there should be a little grey eye icon (it is the System Control Manager). right click on it, select user defined key.. voila you can change the program.

    Please are major questions.

With vertical sync on your frames per second is capped at your monitors refresh rate. Also, the full frame is rendered completely before it is sent to the screen, this eliminates screen tearing.
There is a mathmatical issue that comes into play if the game your are playnig or your video card cannot produce over 60 fps all the time. In other words, if your video card can only produce 58fps, with v-sync on you will only actually get 45 actual fps. This has to do with the prerender frames.

Um, get a life? :D Seriously, frying your gpu due to overheating is something that could casue it to fail at any time, and potentially take the entire system with it.

This may come as a shocker, but I'm not a gamer.

For starters overclocking 10mhz on each will not shorten the lifespan of the card as long as its not being overheated. Just make sure you watch the temps. I personally use to overclock every game I played without any issues.

To be honest at 1920 x 1200 you dont need AA, it wont make a diffrence in my opinion. I would only recommend overclocking while gaming if you have a cooler.

Just leave the AA off, games look there best at native resolution so keep it at 1920 x 1200, if you go lower then thats where AA comes into play. Leave your cooler on and dont overclock it. You will be fine.

I agree. I just got a 1920 x 1200 screen for my laptop and I love it. I don't really get the obsession with AA. At that resolution, I cant tell when its off or on.

@lenarass, its simple, just overclock your graphics card (if you really need to) when you play the game and leave it. The gpu should underclock automatically (to around 300/300) when you're not using it, so assuming you are not gaming 24/7, i dont see too much of a problem with overclocking say to 530/870.

    Guys,

Just a quick question. I'd like to upgrade HDD in my GT725; I believe that the answer is obvious but I'd rather have it confirmed before placing order.

Would Intel SSD X25-M 34 nm 80GB fit into my lappy? Thanks a lot for answers!

Everything that's 2.5" will fit most notebook but not 3.5" . saying that , the X-25 should work fine
