Sorry to bug you again. Upgrading HDD to SSD means also re-installing Windows. Would you guys recommend me to go for Win7 64bit? Do you have any experience with that? (especially in relation to gt725, drivers, etc.) Is there any cookbook for that? Thanks!

 

I have W7 64-bit on mine and have no issues. Get all the W7 drivers from the MSI site except for VGA. Use ATI's latest desktop drivers with Mobility Modder and you're good to go.

When getting drivers off of the MSI site, there are two choices for modem and Wireless, so make sure and get the ones that match your hardware.

 

It's more than recommended , it's a must ! and get the right chipset driver .. msi seems to mix the 740 i7 with the 725 .

Went to pull the battery from my lappy and notice a small support fin next to it was broken. I"m surprised they even bothered having one there, as the space is so narrow.

 

never noticed that. Umm... it is a bit of a chunky old thing. I only ever use the mains lead so never really notice.

m8...its ridiculous to buy laptop like these..... u cant overclock u must check temps all time...2000 times to built a super desktop with 32" lcd..
maybe if u hook that lap on big lcd and and buy gaming keyboard will be good.but u will worry bout temps again:///

Yeah completely with you there mate. Its kinda like the car in my sig. Looks good and goes fast, but is a real to live with.

 

Still ticked MSI went and pulled that, i'd atleast of expected a gtx 260 minimum up to a 280 or 4850 for sure paired with i7.

I really do want an xfire machine out from these guys though, thats what i wait for.

I'd hate a tri-fire/quad fire machine, i couldnt bear like what, 60 db of fan noise

what did you expect from mobile broadband ? they aren't meant for gaming purposes and 3 suck ! get a part-time job and move out if student accomodation really suck

I'm guessing Virgin Media, which would in reality be around 25MB d/l and 2MB u/l on a good day

I tried using their PC Guard software the other day on Win7. Software sucks, drivers don't even install correctly, and it's still expensive compared to some DSL.

 

It's actually with UPC as I'm in Prague Their customer service is bad but the speeds are supposed to be pretty reliable. They did do a 100Mb d/l , 10Mb u/l as well but i can't really justify that

It might be possible but upgrading a graphic card on your notebook will void your warranty and MSI will not support the upgrade so it is not advisable seeing the laptop was made according to the specification and because MSI does not supply spare parts (graphic cards, etc..)

Well even if you could, the 1GB models in the alienware m17's had a slower clocked memory (800 instead of 850). While I wish I had the full gig for GTA4, pretty much every other game I've played has been perfectly happy with 512 MB.

 

Same here , wish I had the extra mem for gta even though it looks good with only 512 .if I can get one even with lower clock like you said , I'll take it without hesitation .... The main issue is to find one ... Next best solution is sell my 725 and get the 729

 

just finisged call of duty modern warfare 2 campaign... best game in whole world!!! unfortunately with full gphx my gt725 had lagg and i overclocked to 530/880 and i was playing perfect with max gpu temp at 74 Celsius
if my gpu die how can msi check if i overclocked it or not?
also what i must check while am gaming so my gpu will be alive? just temp?

really ? the best ? call the gpu doc on 118 118 and check ur internet connection just received my copy of crysis maximum , have to say warhead looks even better than the 1st .. run very smoothly on enthusiast aswell

Turbo doesn't work on quads
If you want to oc Q9000 you will have to use something like setFSB for example

 

why use beta drivers?? I mean, don't get me wrong, I use beta software etc but beta drivers on your main install?? You're asking for trouble with probable minimum gain. Patience my friend )

 

which also requires flashing of the bios to unlock the multipliers.. and software overclockers tend to be slightly unstable.

Internet isnt magnificent in UK but its not tooo bad either.

The q9000 full overclock potential is like 2.8, but we cant seem to breach that limit for some reason..

Its probably the ram coming to think of it.

 

I was able to install through the device manager, using the 4800 drivers on the ATI site!

and...now with new 9.11 cc WITHOUT OVERCLOCK as i was saying bout 530/880..... i dont need that overclock to play full call of duty mw2.. i play online 1920x1200 res. AA 4x (max) everything on EXTRA and ON..am very exited..and temp at 68celcius but i wasnt playing for hours...9.11 its amazing (L)

 

Not with my 16gb hdd lena, no chance, besides im running with 7 satalites and 2 subwoofers anyway, the xbox sounds like an ant in comparison.

And the xbox will still make noise lol, it needs to cool thta tripple core some how

 

keep one thing in mind when it comes to mobile broadband , you never get the speed advertised and it's not meant for gaming .. so it's not that recommended . i'm on vodafone , the only positive thing is the network coverage .....

That's more like it ! 2.8 ain't that bad .... it is the ram as before i wasn't able to OC'd to 24% without it crashing on me , but since changing my rams , it's a different story , OC'd without crashing , feels faster ....
