Its okey, i didnt even though about it this way. I will try the profile too, maybe. The settings i am using works fine for matte screen and i have no problems with colors.
I just though for some people it might be easier to use settings they have at hand. At least like put a link to the post, i for myself know that having a choice is always good and it took me long time before i even messed with color profiles. Who knows some folks might be greateful for it, or not. I dont know![]()
By the way, the problem here is that we created a forum about certain product in a thread itself. If this was a forum board you would make such posts sticky. Here you cant. The problem i have is that i tried to explain glossy vs. Matte and show that you can enhance the color yourself using Nvidia drivers - thus an answer to "Matte vs. Glossy" for once. But of course posting my post on the first page is a problem. Problem understand option-wise. Its kinda long post. Yes you could put a hyperlink to it.
Problem is Those new folks dont read these first page. They click first page, maybe, see the wall of info and skip it to last page or they go to last page immediately. If we had a FORUM board about this laptop you could organize it in a much better way and make similar post sticky.
It would even make the folks read the stuff because they would see 5 sticky posts, each about some topic and they would choose what they want. Like say, basic information, Matte Vs. Glossy ( + Matte Color Enhancement ) , Hardware info, Comparison with other laptops, sound, etc.
So it comes down to two things i dont like.
People not reading in the first place.
And second, if someone posts similar thing it gets just burried in the tons of pages. Trust me, now its fresh again and in 10 pages no one will ever bark for it. And its actually good as many of the other posts here. I dont actually want to even have it on the first page because theres already enough info and theres no place for my posts. I am aware of that.
I wish we had forum board about these laptops, not just single topic. Maybe its just me, i dont know.

Okay so lastly
The SSD
Why is the intel 510 so expensive over the other ones ? -
-
? Like which one of them is used for overclocking, etc. ?
We tech folks, Ken, know that fire extinguisher is used for overclocking and wire brush is used for cleaning laptop, but these folks that buy the laptop new might not know it.
Thanks in advance -
Hey, I have the N 130 wireless adapter in my GT780-US446 and noticed that its max speed is 150 Mbps.
I have an Intel 4965AGN from my old laptop which supports 300 Mbps.
Would there be much point in changing it? -
Does your internet package surpass that? If yes than by all means do get a better one.

Is there a way to make the trackpad disabled by default but turned back on by the switch when the computer is started? Basically reverse the current default? -
I wasn't looking to get a better card, its just the old card (Intel4965AGN) is lying around and if its better than the 130N I might aswell install it in the laptop. Its about 3-4 years old now so maybe the 130N has better technology for latency etc.
Thanks for the replies. -
whats the difference with 625US and 658us ?
I configured the same setup and the 658 is 200$ cheaper -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
The -625 comes with a 128GB SSD, Steelseries Headset & Kinzu Mouse and Mouse Pad, MSI Gaming Backpack and Dirt 3.
The -658 does not come with these extras. -
Anyone have any experience with the Samsung 830 series SSD's? I was about to get the Crucial M4 but I just read some reviews that state these new Samsungs beat anything currently out there in most tests. I've also read a couple reviews talking about how reliable Sasmung SSD's were and on Newegg, the Samsung 830 series 128gb has about 35 reviews and every single one of them is a 5 star review.
I just wanted to see if anyone here has used one or if they have used Samsung in the past. I was also thinking about ordering 8gb of their DDR3 1600 after reading a review stating it performed better than the Hyper X. -
I would recommend the ss 830 as it is obviously faster. Beside more and more people are using it. If it was available when i made my purchase it instead. Rigt now either you want good gb/price ratio, have a good deal or want the reliability of the crucial m4 as proved by countless other then get it. But for someone like me who already got an ssd there is no point to upgrade since the speed increase is incremental.

Do you experience disconnects or dropoffs of signal strength?
Are there others using the same Internet connection as you at the same time?
What you can do is install the free inSSIDer program and test your signal strength with both cards from the spots at your location where you usually connect wirelessly.
If you're getting disconnects and signal dropoffs and you have a router that has 300Mbps simultanious duel band specs or 450Mbps specs then an investment into a new Intel 6230 with bluetooth,6205 6300,with 3rd antenna or a Bigfoot Networks 1102 or 1103 will probably work better.
With the new 300Mbps/450Mbps wireless cards signal strenght should improve.
To access your wireless card you need to lift up the control bar carefully so you dont't disconnect the ribbon cable that connects the control bar to the mainboard. If it comes out of the connector it's easily reattached.
Set your wireless security to WPA2 AES and also select a channel that is far from other channels being used by other networks as seen in the inSSIDer program.
Walls, floors, microwaves, bluetooth and wireless phones can interfere with your wifi signal so a 300Mbps duel band wireless card has the added adva
ntage of the 5ghz band that has far less signal interference than the 2.4ghz band.
Some pix of removing the control bar to access the wireless card.Pictured is an Intel 6300 with 3rd antenna. -
I configured CPU to 2860QM , SSD to OCZ VERTEX 3 max iops and hardrive to Seagate momentus XT SATA 3 -
Oh ok i think i figured it out..
The " free " stuffs are added to the 200$ and not free -
Also, does anyone know if our motherboards will accept Intel's next gen chips? -
depend on what you intend to do with your laptop but mostly no, you wont need it

Hi there guys,
First time poster here as well as new owner-to-be of a MSI GT783. I'm very interested in upgrading the standard Wi-Fi adapter to an Intel Advanced 6230 Advanced N. I saw above in a post that the adapter is located under the control panel but I'm not sure as to how to connect the antennas or whether I'm even supposed to touch those.
Basically a noob with laptop Wi-fi adapters only(I'm fine with everything else). Any helpful tips/advice with regards to those in this laptop?
And also, 500 pages of posts? This is just PURE awesome. Happy I held out and waited for this piece of mobile excellence.

About the bluetooth touch button
since it only work on internal blue tooth adapter ... is it programmable to another program like opening something -

What software do you intend on running that needs the extra proccessing power or virtualization of a CPU upgrade over the stock 2670QM?
There's more gained and it's less costly going from a stock 2670QM to a 2760QM if you need a processing boost than the greater expense going to the 2860QM.There's little real world performance gain between the 2760QM and the 2860QM but there's a large price difference.
The stock GT780DX is a very well configured gaming notebook but there's some ways to improve performance in different areas.
For gaming, finding and putting in a GTX580M would be #1 on my list.
Another improvement for all around performance would be an over provisioned 240Gb SATA 3 6gb/s SSD that utilizes premium synchronous NAND flash memory.
Next up is a wireless card upgrade for better signal strength and few or no disconnects and dropoffs as you move further from your router.
CPU and screen upgrades are good if the running software requires them.
Going from 8GB to 16GB of DDR3-1333 is OK these days because of record low prices and complete elimination of a pagefile and indexing when using an SSD.
Going to DDR3-1600 or higher only if you have money to burn and all other possible performance upgrades have been already been done. -
-
in the ram section :
16GB DDR3 1600/PC3 12800 Dual-Channel
Which brand is this ? -
Why do you say a 240gb SSD? I just ordered a Samsung 830 128gb due to the reviews stating how reliable and fast it was.
I also ordered 16gb if Samsung DDR3 1600 which I will over clock to 2100.
I am going to stick with the 570 for now. In my opinion, the $400 premium for the best mobile card is not worth the difference in performance. Again, just my opinion. In a year, ill probably upgrade the GPU.
When it comes to the wireless card, I configured my MSI with a Bigfoot 1103 (3 antenna) which I have heard is the best wireless card for gaming. Now that I have this card and a high end router, I may have to call Comcast and upgrade from 100mb/s to 150mb/s. -
Samsung 830 is quite slower than the other ssds i think
I am choosing either im going with OCZ vertex 3 , vertex 3 max iops or patriot wild fire. -
Should i go for standard wireless network card or bigfoot network ?
May i know the ethernet port is what brand and model ? -
hey guys
I have a problem with my gt780dx which i bought 3 weeks ago.
When i turn it on everything except screen works. I can hear windows starting, keyboard is working and it seems system is fine but screen remains blank and msi logo on the cover - unlit.
Also i think i should mention that for a few days it has been pretty cold outside (-2 degrees Celsius)and i walked with the laptop in my backpack to different building (1 minute walk) just before the problem occured.
Any ideas or suggestions? -
-
What else can i try? -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Connect an external monitor. If you have an image on it you will know you have a screen issue, but if there is no image your problem is probably with the video card.
With this information in hand, contact tech support to get it fixed. -
I have e-mailed MSI sales and another contact on the site, but have gotten no reply. Does anyone out there know where one can purchase this backpack and mouse? I JUST purchased my MSI GT780DXR, but I can't get anyone at MSI to reply.

yeah i know the samsung ssd is comparable but the Seq. Write (MB/s) and read speeds are quite low compared to other SSDs
Can't match SandForce for 4k random IOPS. -
To be honest right now i can see that the SSDs i compared are almost higher or lower than the other
Now the time now is to check the price range and stability .
Because in real life i dont think anyone can figured it out which is fast unless he did a stopwatch bench mark........ -

Like the Maximum PC tests show, the only thing the Samsung isn't faster at is writes at 32QD. -
If write speeds are what your looking for then the OCZ is the winner. If read speeds are what your looking for than the Samsung is the clear winner. If sustained speeds are what your looking for, Samsung also is the winner. If reliability is what your looking for, Samsung wins again.
-
PC Mag also gave the 830 series a stellar review. Here is a quote from their review.
"Of course, what really matters with any drive is performance, and Samsung makes towering claims on that front: maximum sequential reads of 520MBps, sequential writes of 320MBps, 4KB random reads of up to 80,000 IOPS, and 4KB random writes of up to 30,000 IOPS. These numbers are just behind what OCZ claims for its own 120GB version of the Vertex 3 (550MBps; 500MBps; 85,000 IOPS; and 60,000 IOPS respectively. Yet in most of our tests the Samsung 830 Series outperformed the 120GB Vertex 3."

Do YOU own or have you have YOU ever owned an OCZ Vertex 3 to make the claim about reliability?
Is your statement made from hearsay second hand information?
I have 2 Vertex 2(34nm) SSDs and 3 OCZ Vertex 3 MAX IOPS.I've had absolutely no issues with any of them.
OCZ is a major player in the SSD world.
Sandforce SSDs far outnumber any other drive type in consumers hand thusly there might be more reported issues both real and those caused by pilot error.

Hey guys!
I'm kinda newb with overclocking and all that!
I've been playing BF3 lately and I'm trying to use higher graphics with a higher overclock. 650 core clock seems to be the highest I can go. Any more than that it seems to crash if I try playing BF3 at high quality.
I've heard that anything higher than 700 requires overvolting.
What are the steps to doing that, overvolting and overclocking safely? Do I need SVETs Bios? And whats the highest, most stable overclock and overvolt you can go to? Also, whats the default voltage at anyway?
Just wondering, trying to use this beast of a laptop at its max capability without going overboard!
Thanks! -
I don't think I'm fallowing you when it comes to the top most searched SSD companies. I would hope no one here is purchasing a SSD based on search volume. Most people will purchase a SSD based on performance and reliability. -
If I missed this somewhere along the way, I apologize for asking this. Does the 580m in the GT783 throttle at 78/79c like it does in the Alienware models?

There's a great deal of info on that one page and the links to other SSD info.
As a starter go to #20,Intel.Is the info anything of interest.
I would highly recommend an OCZ Vertex 3 MAX IOPS to anyone looking for a SATA 3 SSD for a GT780DX with a 1761_30E bios from 1st hand experience with 3 of them.
I'll probably go with an OCZ again in a future upgrade because of my positive experience but I'll never exclude something that is a better performer and has a good warranty.
I had 2 SSDs with issues prior to getting my 1st Vertex 2(34nm).
A 3% or less defective part amount is an accepted standard in manufacturing. -
I think im going for vertex 3 iops max
-
you prob want to install dust filters -
Can anyone recommend a nice carrying case that fits well? I have a Wenger Back Pack which fit my 15inch Asus well but its to small for the MSI. I don't want another back pack so I'm leaning towards the traditional style laptop cases. I'm just affraid to order any case in fear of it being to small. I don't want to worry about having to ship it back.

Just find one that include
Waterproof on the bottom at least or the whole bag itself.
Rugged military grade anti shock and bump -
try to Find this : Belking Messenger 17" Black/Red
Its very VERY comfi !! It has lots of pockets for mouse and all the cables. You could even put there a pen or pencil and some notepad for school. The laptop fits EXACTLY in the bag and its just amazing bag.
Also, it looks very stylish if you gonna wear some red T-shirt and black shorts it will match it 100 and 10%
