Wow, that is very unusual. I'm just grabbing ideas here but try unplugging it, take the battery out and then hold the power button down for about 30 seconds. Then try getting into the BIOS.
If that still doesn't work, hit F11 at the MSI logo screen to see if it will bring up your boot manager, and if it does, does the Patriot Wildfire show up there? -
I tried to press f11 or delete when the logo pop ouT -
Hi Guys,
I have a GT780DXR-446US since Christmas, but the end of January I upgraded to an SSD. I undid the raid array, kept the second HDD for media, and of course had to reformat the second HDD. I changed the BIOS to AHCI mode for both drives. Installed Windows 7 x64, installed everything I needed (I think, mainly from the MSI website for ths model). Soon after (within a week or two) I started to get BSoDs all the time. Thought it was the Samsung drive and ended up returning to Amazon (it was out of stock and I couldn't wait) so I got a Crucial M4 256gb SSD. Did all the reinstalls...etc, but still getting a LOT of BSoDs related to MEMORY_MANAGEMENT. Powered laptop down, took battery out, held power button to drain - nothing. Checked software I had installed, and nothing. I went back to the MSI site and noticed a different BIOS version for non-raid systems only. My machine has the E1761IMS.30H BIOS. According to MSI site, the 30H is for Raid systems only and the 10H is for NON-RAID. Do i need to downgrade to that bios version since I'm non RAID now?
Any ideas on my BSoDs...etc would really help. I'm driving my wife and myself crazy. I love this laptop but need to get it stable. Of course it's been opened so I'd rather not go back to MSI just yet. Any advice would help and I appreciate it!
Thanks! -
Sometimes it just stuck on the msi logo

Type memory in the search box.
How much memory installed? How many modules.
There's 2 slots under the keyboard for 2 modules and 2 more slots for 2 modules accessed through the bottom of the notebook.
I suggest removing all memory modules except 1.
Run the notebook with only that 1 memory module installed.
If all is well take that module out and put another one in.
Test all the modules this way,one at a time,to see if you have a bad module causing the BSODs.
You can also check for file system errors by running in an elevated command prompt(administrator) sfc /scannow and then press Enter -

I KNEW a particular individual here bought WAY more notebook than they could handle, and only a matter of time before they were in a crisis..... on the weekend no less.
-
unplug the power, remove the battery and press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
then put back the battery in and power cord and try to boot and go into the bios. -
How do you exchange your Ssd ? Send back to gentechpc ? -
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
He1p, it's probably a good idea to get with your reseller.... be patient, it's the weekend for goodness sakes. I am sure Ken will get with you shortly.

Put everything back still the same , it won't let me go bios -

Guys, it's best He1p get with his reseller. First he post he cannot get into bios, then he ask about exchanging an SSD. Rather than leading him into various paths here, it really is best he deal with Ken.
LOL!
-
if you can then i think flashing your bios and EC might help. that's where i'd start. with a new fresh bios download, a freshly formated usbkey in fat32.
Follow the directions -=$tR|k3r=- gives here to the letter and get back to us.

I still think in He1p's case, he is best served dealing with Ken. I would make the same recommendation if he were any other reseller's client..... that he speak with Ken, LOL!
JUST KIDDING DONALD!

Comes as the primary drive in the MSI GT783 625US model. I ordered a Crucial M4 for my primary drive as well:

Omg guys I think I fix it I took out my hard drives and is the same but I took out two rams behind and it suxcessful boot into windows
I gonna try put them back in -
Hope you nail it -
@ MrSeaBass - thanks for the input I appreciate the help. Is everyone liking the GT780dxr446us?
-
okay folks i think i fixed it ..
I removed both ram behind of notebook and it worked
The main cause was hibernation
It was a serious fatal error
#1 i take out my SSD and HDD or swap them
#2 Run only SSD or HDD
Both of them did not work
So i was thinking while people are having fun
I took out two ram module behind
It successfully boot and states fatal error hibernation
so continue > successfully booted into windows
Place back the two rams and booted into windows
I think i need to disable hibernation at all cost from now on
Someone please tell me how to disable it -
-
Firs of all Thank You very much
You are right my system in RAID . I wounder, is it OK to use MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition 7.1 with RAID?
Thank you for help -
MSI set system to hibernate by default and you can disable it by going to Control Panel> Power Options > Change advanced Power settings to disable it (see attached picture).
Another way to get out of hibernate mode failed easy is create a system repair disk by go to Control Panel> Backup and restore to create a system repair disk.
Insert and boot from system repair disk to boot and then just exit repair console right away and it will stop trying to boot from hibernate mode.Attached Files:

The problem is I cannot go into bios nor I can put the disc in the drive because everything is not working
-
As for the model with the SSD i can't comment but i'd like to know the drive model and specs myself.
So all of you that have this drive, what's the real world verdict, is it good enough to compete with the big boys of Intel, Samsung 830 and company ?
ATTO, CDM screenshots anyone?
Is It Possible to Resize RAID -
When that happens, system BIOS will always try to resume from hibernate but the hibernate image has corrupted so system can't boot successfully, that's what happened to He1p. -
It's true. A corrupted windows hibernate file is totally kaput. And it applies on all computers even non-gt780. -
Problem is how do you insert a system boot disk when you cannot put the disc in since the optical drive is touch button
-
I run quite often some rather RAM hungry scientific software... if it sees less than 8GB of RAM it won't even load. That and I'm currently doing a fair amount of platform-agnostic coding, so I end up testing it in half a dozen virtual machines.
...
Does the S-Bar get disabled if running linux? Or does the BIOS retain control if Windows isn't found? Worst case on linux is figuring out what signal is sent when a button is pressed, and writing a script to deal with the input accordingly... which is hardly a serious issue.
I e-mailed MSI about it a few days ago, no response yet. Maybe they'll be forthcoming. Most I'll have to do is have a look in Device Manager for info when it arrives.
I can be quite picky about how loud fans are; but I'm currently suffering with a laptop that doesn't spin the fan much (also it's not a very big fan) so it's a very, very hot system. I've come to prioritise decreased temperatures over whisper quietness.

OH that little tiny hole ??????
but i tried to push gently noting happpen -
The emergency release physically disengages the drive locking mechanism (catch) so that the tray can be drawn open manually. Last time I had to do an emergency eject on a tray-loading drive it was quite a 'clunk' when it disengaged, but that was on an old IBM that was built like a tank, so modern drives might not be so stubborn.
edit: I just tried it on a tray-loading laptop ODD I've got laying around, and a small jewelers screwdriver (if you've got one) works wonders. Also, it's a much more modern drive (bought ~mid-2010) and barely took any effort at all to get the mechanism to disengage. Then as I released pressure, the tray popped out gently. -
So you just poke the hole ?
-
-
-
It has 16GB of RAM installed, so I imagine 4x4GB modules.
Any other thoughts? I ran the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool and it found no issues. I do get very random crashes - things like AVG having unspecified errors, and gmail checker just crashed now. Very odd.
Thanks for your help. I'm desperate!!! -
sfc /scannow found no errors.

FYI:
Thanks to the helpful contributions of jetherson, another well-educated and well-rounded guru/geek amongst us (so SHOW SOME RESPECT, and give 'em a little love), I have added his suggested 'thread search link' to the 'top' of thread's lead post.
In an effort to minimize the continual repeat questioning here (consuming a good portion of this thread's volume), I ask all informed members, PLEASE direct the lessor informed HERE when this occurs.
And now, a little satire, sarcasm, and rant.......
Perhaps I need to delete all the links of the lead post, because NONE of the newbs even bother looking at it or doing Google searches...... I mean after all, 'Whats The Point'..... and WhatsThePoint does seem to enjoy answering the same questions over and over again. I know! How about this? If anyone has a question, just PM WhatsThePoint (he HAS to be pulling his hair out by now, and finger nails must be down to nubs). This way we can reduce the threads clutter..... fill his PM inbox with this nonsense, and not the thread! Sounds like a plan to me! LOL!
WhatsThePoint, you are now dubbed the threads official 'Answer Smurf'. I would post this to the lead post (making the official announcement of your new title), but 'WhatsThePoint', no one reads it! Long ago, I grew tired of this, over and over again.
To add another humorous note to all this, some time ago several folks here made a call for FAQ's to be added to the thread. This was suggested to provide a 'One Stop Shopping' place of GT780/783 info, to eliminate the myriad of repeat questions consuming the thread.
In theory this sounded reasonable, but understanding a bit of human nature, I PM'ed several of these folks explaining; 'most want instant gratification, and many are too lazy to even Google search', and many will not THINK to do this..... 'most won't read it'...... 'dumb@$$'es abound' who can't pour milk in their breakfast cereal, let alone operate a notebook PC without screwing it up..... AND I even bet them that in spite of a FAQ's section, 'repeat questions will still continue'. What really tinkles me here, is the folks who believe we have nothing better to do, than sitting here answering their repeat questions..... like we are getting paid, or it's our job or something. Better yet, those folks who actually get mad, because their questions don't get answered right away, LOL! After much insistence for a FAQ's section, I posted THIS. Guess what? NOT ONE INDIVIDUAL HERE bothered to PM with any suggestions whatsoever! Seems many have suggestions, but few are willing to contribute or do any of the leg-work. WOW, imagine that!
Of course I am still open to any suggestions or help here..... just PM me, but PLEASE, do provide supporting links! I do not have the time to do all of the research.
Anyhow, this notebook series has been around long enough, that chances are, if you have a question, it's most likely been answered...... MANY times! Probably at least 1/3 to 1/2 of the bulk of this threads pages are consumed with repeat information. PLEASE folks, before questioning, try reading the thread..... it's not like it's a long gothic novel, and as simple to read as Dic-k (gee wiz, I got word censored/filtered here, LOL!) & Jane...... or try searching (Google)! Who knows, the lead post MAY even be helpful too!
In summary, I hope everyone was entertained here, and do ENJOY LIFE!

Hey everyone! New guy here, wanted to thank everyone for a great thread that lead me to the GT780.
Placed an order with Ken over at GenTech PC (thanks again Ken) and got my new laptop last week. So far it has been really great, its my first gaming grade computer and I don't think I will ever go back! I didn't get too much on top of the standard system, I did take advantage of the free extra ram upgrade to 16gb and I opted to add a second 750gb HD in RAID 0 configuration (wow does this thing boot fast!).
Anyways, I am wondering what everyone's overclock settings are for the GT780DX-406us specifically. I have downloaded Afterburner and I ran up to 700/1400 and 1750 on the memory without any issues. I was playing BF3 on Ultra and was maintaining ~25fps (not too bad) with the temp never getting above 62C. Curious to know how much further I can push it without risking damaging anything.
Also, are there any other things I should get or download to get the most out of my new toy?
Again, thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread what a great resource! Just for the sake of mentioning it I have indeed looked through quite a bit of this thread, mostly before finally deciding this was the system for me. All the links in the first post were very helpful and I did look through a lot of the information. I have had a lot of trouble with the "search this thread"...Seems like nothing I type in is within this thread, I tried "clock", the letter "a", and "MSI" with no results for any of them. -

In all seriousness ,I have never minded sharing my knowledge and experience to those just starting out.
I come from the days of wooden ships, iron men,Tandy TRS-80 and Commador 64.
In the mid 80s I actually liked Apple.
There was no Internet back in the day.
The Internet is a great tool and I hope governments leave it alone(rant).
All things come at a price. My PM box is often full so new messages are lost.I can no longer post photo attachments;my forum limit has been reached.
So many times someone has asked for information that was posted already on the SAME page or within a few pages.
There's no excuse for laziness. It eventually costs others that are looking for help.
If you truly need help after doing the basic searching and self help youself;I'm here to assist and on many occassions learn something new myself by your asking and a learned person answering.
I'm in the September of my life and still blessed with a great memory.

LOL! Preaching to the choir here. Glad you're having fun, but as I said before, soon I predict you'll be asking, 'WhatsThe Point'?
Commodore 64? Heck, I had 3 of them, AND a VIC20! Also, a Timex Sinclair 1000..... you forgot that one, LOL!
September? Now see, there is a difference..... I think I am in November!

Don't bother buying another 2.1 . Gt783:780 itself
My master volume is at 15% and media player at 20%
It's still so loud clear and no distortion -
