GT780/GT783 users will be end of life or dead if this comes out

I just found out that overclocking GTX 580M obviously get more frame rates but the disadvantage is fps spiking while using normal TDE OC , the fps down by 5-10fps but is stable

But this is just a protype as i was told but maybe it wasnt.

The new design is like a starship trooper with two lights on the notebook , very similar to alienware .

supports killer network LAN ( OMG I WANT THIS SO BAD )

    Supports 3 HDD .... Imagine 2 x 240 Intel 520 , 1TB HDD , they called it super raid....

Optical audio output and 1 more USB3

The Gt60 and Gt70 are NOT supposed to have the star fighter design. The GE60 and GE70 is what you are thinking of. They are the ones with the lights and stuff.

I stand corrected. I did not know there was an article on MSI's website. Do you know which one is supposed to be more powerful, the Gt70 or Ge70?

I think GT70 will be most powerful. MSI had the GE620DX earlier which had an GT555M while GT683 came out few months after with GTX 560M. I think it will the same difference this time around too (big GPU performance difference) but I am not 100% shure. :)

That is what I was thinking too. It is still very hard for me to believe that the Gt70 in the video is a prototype. Also, i have found a video on YouTube that features the Gt60 at CeBit. It is the same thing with the Gt70 and doesn't feature the Starfighter design, but the material around the keyboard has changed and is even noted by the MSI representative as what they have changed. This leads me to believe that the Gt series will not feature the Starfighter design despite what is said in the article. Maybe there was a mistake in the article. Do you notice how the photo for the Starfighter design is on in the GE series section not in the GT series section. The GT series section has a picture matching the design shown in the video.

Yup I think you are right. Thats why I was disappointed since I wanted something new fresh look and the starfighter design sounded cool. But the old design is not ugly or anything. Let us hope they put Kepler GPUs inside too, instead of rebradged (670M/675M) Fermi GPUs

And btw, I really really reeeeally wonder what that "cooler boost heat sink" is!

Yea I will be kinda mad and disappointed if they use rebadged GPUs. I am starting to think that the GE series might actually be more powerful than the GT series because in the video featuring the GT70 it is stated that it supports up to 16gbs of ram while the GE series is supposed to support of 32gbs of ram. The combination of that and the fact that the GE is getting the Starfighter design leads me to believe that it is indeed more powerful than the GT series.

    Try this:
    1. Turn notebook OFF with button, hold 20 seconds.
    2. Remove AC Power plug
    3. Remove battery
    4. Leave it like this for about 5 minutes.
    5. Put everything back and power the laptop again.

    BTW,is your setup raid0?
Just about all the issues similar to yours that are posted in this forum are with raid arrays.

the Raid config is disabled... I did what you suggest and doesn't work... it starts by it self after 15 minutes power off... I thing that something was wrong with Windows hibernation process... is my only clue

If you open the bottom of the notebook you'll see a red and black wire combo near the fan.Disconnect it for about 5 minutes with the AC Power and battery removed.

Have only 1 hard drive with Windows 7 installed on it in the notebook when you reconnect the red and black wire connection, put the battery back in,connect the AC Power Adapter and power back up.

Press DEL while on the first screen and see if you can enter the bios to reset to AHCI,reset the time and reset the boot order with the ODD 1st,hard drive 2nd and Realtek LAN dead last.

You may have previously switched from raid to AHCI in the bios but the 2 drives may be still seen a member drives.

It's working for him now. I was troubleshoot with him with emails and his laptop was shipped with RAID disable so it was never set on RAID.

I think it was just another hibernation file corrupted and the system BIOS still trying to resume from hibernation.

For some reason after turn the system on/off many times it start to boot up fine again.

Have been looking at the gt783 looks like a nice machine. I have a few questions, first I can't find any reviews on it, but reviews of the older gt680r complained about the bad screen quality, how is the screen on the gt783r? Is anybody on this forum having major problems with their machines? Thanks!

i have been using gt783 for a week now, about the screen, it is brilliant but at times while gaming i have encountered horizontal lines flickering on the screen. i think some of us here have bumpd into this situation. But no major problm for me. im sure it is not because of the driver, it is about the screen itself..just my opinion.

Ok I'm trying to do a completely fresh install of windows 7 ultimate on my laptop I need some play by play action on this though I just failed epically not 5 minutes ago and managed to fix my screw up but when I am installing I know I probably need to use device drivers for the raid 0 array but what drivers and where do I find these drivers I know for some of you this is a stupid question but for me I have never used raid before and am having the shakes over here from the stress.

You will not require drivers of any sort to set up your RAID 0 array on your laptop. You MIGHT require a BIOS flash if your laptop did not come with RAID 0 in the first place.

What you need to do is, once you boot up your laptop, immediately press the Delete key to get into your BIOS options. Once in BIOS, if you arrow over to the right, you should see the Advanced Options if I'm not mistaken. If you look down that list you should see SATA selection and to the right of that should be [IDE] [AHCI] or [RAID]. If it is in anything other than RAID, you will need to change that and then F10 to save your settings and reset your laptop.

After you have done that, you will need to hit Ctrl+I when your laptop reboots to enter your RAID configuration setup.

Let us know if you can get that far first, as that may tell us if you have the option to configure your laptop for RAID in the first place. If you can't change to RAID and get to the Ctrl+I part, you may need to flash your BIOS.

I tried the search link on the first post and I searched for these texts: webcam activate

The result on Google is this:
    https://www.google.com/search?q=web...584869-official-msi-gt780-gt783-owners-lounge

The first item on the result page is this:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/msi/584869-official-msi-gt780-gt783-owners-lounge-327.html

On that page, Striker mentioned this: " The webcam uses the native WIN 7 webcam driver. It's turned off by default. You did turn it on, didn't you? Press and hold the Fn button, and then press the F6 button."

    Argh!

Just found out that the MSI gaming mouse that came with the laptop keeps crashing all the time! The "Gaming Mouse" app running in the background crashes and boots up and there is like 5 seconds with no mouse reaction, and then like 1/2 times it wont even start reacting to movement. The buttons work fine but the dpi sensor(??) does not work and the cursor wont move on the screen. I tried to search for this problem but didnt find anything..

Is it just that the mouse is that bad? I installed the drivers disc but didnt find any never drivers.

Maybe; Specs aren't officially announced yet; just speculations.

    -- Edit

    +Better sound
    +16:9 Screen
+Both the GE60 (15") and the GE70 (17") will feature the steel series keyboard.

How about a 3D screen option?

We all know new models and new tech are always just around the next corner. Discussing and speculating it here is somewhat off-topic, and new threads are already available, devoted to this discussion..... like HERE.

Personally, I am not getting overly excited by these new models, and I do not believe enough performance will arise to warrant a great fuss. For this I would suggest GT780/783 owners plan farther down the road to even greater technologies. It's really not like these upcoming models will make the GT780/783 obsolete. Why get so excited by 'Kepler', when 'Maxwell' is just around that corner? Now, I'd say that will be something to get a little more excited about.

Just a little food for thought.......

    For now, enjoy your GT780/783's!

    :)

Yes, all within the same MSI series & GPU series. It was the same notebook, and amounted to little more than a GPU upgrade. You will not see me doing this with the next series.

I just want to update about my laptop. Anyway I call NewEgg they said well it's pass the warranty and you have to call MSI, call MSI they said yeah sure send it in for repair but you have to paid for shipping insurance and here is check list of what you have to do.

I have to go to Fry's yesterday so I went to memory section and got Corsair memory came home remove the backpanel, took out the old memory and replaced with the new one. Ran memcheck everything seems fine.

I still can't update Windows because so many files were missing, I went back through this thread found Windows 7 clean install and in the process of reinstalling Windows now. Stupid me, I got Windows 7 disc (from my desktop) and install from that but didn't realize it doesn't have SP1 so now it won't let me activate. If I download SP1 would it work or do I have to install it from scratch using Windows 7 SP1 ISO?

Other than that the laptop ran great and haven't have a single BSOD even with all the installing and downloading of all the drivers.

    Short version.......

Download the WIN 7 SP1 ISO, and create a bootable WIN 7 DVD. On system boot, hit F11 at the MSI screen, choose your optical drive, and install WIN 7. Then connect to internet, install all Windows Updates, and drivers. As well as the system drivers, you will also want to install the S-Bar, KLM, NV OC Tool, and THX software.

WIN 7 and driver info can be found HERE, and don't forget to 'activate Windows' online using the key code located beneath the notebook's battery.

    :)
