With 1866, 12GB is the max on 2670s AFAIK.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Doing a search right now, but can't seem to find the answers I seek so far. When I received my 780 from Gentech PC the audio was awesome! When the master volume was at 20% and my winamp volume was at 15% I was still able to hear it across the room. After a complete reinstall, now I have to turn everything up to 75% to achieve the same volume.

I've run into this before in not installing a certain driver, or installing the wrong driver first. Can someone give me some clues as to how I should go about reinstalling the audio drivers properly?

Didnt know this.. you think it would be a bad investment to buy one before they discontinue them? i mean my budget is around 1900$ will the price of the gt783 go down all the way to where the gt780 used to be?

and is there any clue of the date the gt70 is going to be released?

Ha,you beat me to it. :)

Not only the app but check the settings in THX also.

As a last resort, use a quality uninstaller and remove WinAmp,THX and the Relealtek HD Audio drivers and start over.

Thanks for the input guys. I did install the THX app. I also did exactly as stated by WhatsThePoint in my complete uninstallation, but the sound still is the same. I can't seem to get the sub to play any louder, thus all my stuff sounds tinny and without feel. I've had this problem with my GT 735 and realtek drivers before. Wish they'd put a different chip in there already.

I'm always in a location where there are other PCs in use so I'm always using high quality headphones or earbuds.

I'm always sitting in front of the units so I can't comment on across the room but the sound volume through the headphones can blow my eardrums and no hint of tinniness.

I must add that I'm not even remotely close to being classified as an audiophile.

Have you listened through headphones, headsets or earbuds?

    How's the sound quality?

    Any of the tinny issue?

    For 3d rendering,video/audio editing would you go for 16GB 1600 or 12GB 1866?

I'm not much of a 3D modeler, but I think that the more the better. Besides, there isn't that much difference between 1600 and 1866.

Don't take my response as your only guide; If I were you, I'd research a bit more to ensure that I'm taking the correct decision.

Can you tell me exactly where you're setting the THX Sub gain? I've got the smart volume set at the same rate as you, but toggling it on and off doesn't seem to have any effect.

Oh man... quality there is awesome! I've got a good pair of klipsch earbuds that rock. It's only through the external speakers that I seem to have problems.

    Thank you.

When I enter the THX Pro Studio settings the Speaker option has a check box for the +15 gain.
I also have Surround set 75% and Crystalizer at 65%.

In THX version 1.04.03 when Internal Speakers are chosen in settings and the Speakers in the menu there's a Subwoofer option with the default gain of +15
    MSI Global ? Download Center

If you are using THX 1.02 and want to upgrade to 1.04.03 you 1st need to completely remove v1.02.I recommend a good uninstaller program.

Today I updated my Realtek HD Audio Driver to build 6.0.1.6581
    Realtek drivers Audio

In the Realtek Audio Manager click on the subwoofer and see if you're getting sound.

Ordered my GT783r on monday. Gonna arrive on Friday! I can't wait. I ordered it through newegg because they had 12months 0% so I hope I didn't just royally screw myself with bad customer service. I took the 3yr accident warranty but I'm also curious if i should have opted to buy a squaretrade warranty instead. I had a squaretrade warranty on a Gateway FX laptop I had and it paid off bigtime. Anyways looking forward to being part of the owner's lounge. This is my first big laptop purchase and I'm super excited to have this beast in my hands!

Best would have been to order through a reseller listed in post #1 of this forum.

    They don't offer financing.

Recent posts from members that purchased their MSI from Amazon and Newegg have described nightmares in issues and getting them fixed ,units replaced or refunds.

I hope you will have good luck.

People on this forum have high praise for GenTech PC MSI customized notebooks and their service.

I completely agree but unfortunately the only way for me to own one of these beauties was to buy it on time so my options are limited. I hope it works out but I'm genuinely worried.

Well it may only be a small commiseration, but I'm sure you have much less problems with your MSI than with a Gateway/Dell. You can hope for no problems at all! Don't forget that Squaretrade are always happy to take your money and you can sign up for warranty after the fact. Get a Warranty | SquareTrade Warranties | SquareTrade Warranties

    hey guys.

I just got gt780dxr today. It was such an exciting moment to give it a test. But

Unfortunately, I think I have a defective speaker on right.

I am wondering if you have a same phenomenon when you max out the volume.

with max sound, right speaker makes cracking noise. I guess the sound is effected by trembling from sub-woofer or something because it makes that sound not only during max sound, but also during sub-woofer functioning.

is this something that happen to all of you? or should I call MSI to ask RMA?

    give me some advice please.

sorry for bad english. I am not a native speaker.

I do not have this option. I need to update this I think.
It appears as if you're running 5.1 to test the sub. Are you running 5.1 the whole time or do you switch back to stereo after you test the sub?

Working on my sound issues at the moment, but I noticed another 'inconsistency' from when I received the laptop versus my fresh reinstall. When the laptop boots, the GPU clock is 51 0r 74 mhz. When I press P1, the clock goes up to 574 and hangs there as it should. However, when I turn off P1, rather than going back to 74 as it did before, it throttles down to 527 mhz and hangs there. The only way I can get it to throttle down is to unplug the computer and let the clock drop that way. Thoughts?

EDIT: I was mistaken, the clock speed does drop, it just takes about 5 minutes for that to happen whereas previously it was immediate.

Why don't you just enjoy your notebook? I'm sure the 580M is a very powerful card that will endure and will outperform the GTX 675M. When you're buying a device, you know that a better one will be released in a short time. So instead of complaining and nagging, enjoy the one you have.

So after lots of issues with my computer, I finally got it RMA'd by Robert Cheng, RMA manager in MSI.

    My entire GT780DX included:

    No DIRT3 code
    Corrupted Keyboard (MAIN REASON)
Cracking noise in speakers when you max out volume
Heavy/loud Clicking sounds out of the WD harddrive

Now I can say that the support from MSI has been w o n d e r f u l. They have been most helpful and really apologized a lot for not having a working computer. He offered me a swap, equal model or perhaps even an upgrade!

I heavily suspect the computer I bought was probably a demo version or a returned computer. Must have been.

Gonna see how the process unfolds itself, but lots of creds to the swedish MSI representative and Robert Cheng.

take it easy man, just enjoy your new toy and know that it will outlast any other cheaper laptop on the market for years to come ok ?

chill bro, play some games, impress ppl with your new machine, the pretty colors, the awesome bass, the awesome 1080p LED screen, 16gb of ram

Heck even desktops don't have that right now they're still stuck at the standard 8gb and most lappies are still selling with 4.

Yunno how it is in computer universe, anything you get today is surpassed tomorrow. litterally. So what i do when i buy a new computer? i stop watching for new stuff coming out for a few months, call that the honey moon period.

otherwise you just drive yourself (and everybody else) crazy with envy.

so chill, you got a nice machine there, i know cuz we all have the same.

    ;) lol

Anyone have had an SSD switch down to sata ii from sata iii.
Current configuration is Crucial m4 512G on sata0 and western digital black 500G on sata1 on a fairly early model GT780DXR

I look in intel RST 11.0 and one day it is 6Gb's and next it is 3Gb's and it seems to be actual, because the Crystal Diskmark values do change dramatically.

    Thanks for any insight.

    Try this:

Go to Control Panel > Sound > Playback and speakers properties > Enhancements and check the box: Loudness Equalization.

    Makes huge difference for me.

Asides from being a desktop card, apparently the 580 does better than the 680 with Directcompute. e.g. Civ 5 uses direct compute to decompress textures on the fly, the 580 would be better at doing that than the 680.

the specs of the gtx675 are pretty much a wash to the 580M so I'm not sure you will gain anything by waiting. When I read that the 675M was basically a rebadge of the 580M I placed my order. My 783R will be here tomorrow :)

my 780 should be here tomorrow, can't wait to get it, looking forward to firing it up...just got my wife's new dell yesterday and set it up for her...

what would be a more efficient way of transferring data from my old laptop to my new one? I have the belkin USB cord...used it for transferring files for the new dell from the older one, nice thing about both being win7 laptops, no extra software needed to be installed... I have an external USB 2.0 5400 rpm drive..also which is my backup drive for my laptop.

    Hi.
my gt780dxr is quipped with Intel wireless-N card, and it seems many of you has done upgrade wireless card to Bigfoot Killer -N 1103. can I still get the huge differance from upgrading it when just surfing web and downloading?
I'm curious upgrading wireless card is something really applied to gamers only.
If it is worth it, then is it doable by myself? or I must find computer expert for doing it?
    Thank you in advance.

It's simple enough to swap wireless cards but not so simple to add the 3rd antenna inside the LCD housing for the Killer 1103.

    An upgrade to a Killer 1102 doesn't require a 3rd antenna;just a card swap and driver/software installation after uninstalling the Intel driver/software.

Are you experiencing signal strength drop-offs or getting disconnected?

Will your router support at least 300Mbps and Duel-Band?

The stock Intel N130 is a single 2.4ghz band 150 Mbps wireless card.

There's no 2.1 choice so 5.1 in the Realtek HD Audio Manager is the only way to get the subwoofer to appear.

I leave it set to 5.1 and uncheck the other speakers.

When I plug in the headphones it's only stereo

That is a valid question....if the 780 is going to have a 675m then yea i'd wait for it because you would be getting 580 power for less money than the 783. I dunno which model the 675 will be in tho.

    Thanks for your reply.
I did not experinece getting disconnected, but signal strength-drop though. I just want general increase in Internet surfing speed.
So having benefit of faster speed is not soly dependent on wireless card but router as well. I did not know that.
Before deciding, I'd better to check my router first I guess.
if it does support dual antenna, then would you recommand to upgrade it to Killer 1102 for better speed of internet?? would there be a big difference btw killer 1102 and N130?

The GTX675M and GTX670M are Fermi GPUs,not a new Kepler.

The GT640M is the only Kepler available so far(Acer).

There's a lot of variables when it comes to wireless networking and the router/wireless card combination is just a part of it.

The router should support simultaneous duel-band at 300Mbps or 450Mbps if the card is the same speed.

More antennas connected to the wireless card should mean better signal strength as you move further from the router and walls and floors start reducing the strength of the signal.

Try using inSSIDer to measure your signal strength as you carry your notebook around in your location.

Download inSSIDer and Discover the Wi-Fi Networks Around You | MetaGeek

While using inSSIDer observe other wireless networks around yours and choose a channel not being used or in some cases least used.

If you have a cordless phone stay away from channel 11.

Use WPA2 AES security in your router setup for best performance in Windows 7.
