Always do it that method. Once I get it working I can update jut fine. I just want to fiure out whats triggering the issue when it does happen. We'll see what happens next time

 

Since March 6th I've had for Pink Screens with graphics corruption on 296.1x drivers.

3 of the 4 recovered with a NVIDIA Driver Kernel stopped reponding but recovered.The 4th required a forced reboot.

Looks like 296.1x has some bugs after viewing the geforce forums.

 

Hi. I recently bought this MSI GT780DX---277US. I am impressed so far with the machine and it's cooling. I run BOINC on all CPU cores and Folding at Home on the GPU flat out and the temps never go over 70.
I am having a problem with the DVD tray opener on the touch bar. It stoped working. I can open it using the "eject" selection so the problem is with the touch bar?
Anyone else encounter this? thanks.

 

Is the s-bar software running, with the lame star at the top of your screen? The software must be running for the button to work. If it is running and doesn't work, then try to reinstall the s-bar software and see if that works.

 

My issue seems unrelated to those, cause it last happened a month ago before the latest version came out. And happens with stock drivers.

 

Ok so here's where I'm at.

The scratches that were there other than the touch pad (removed the film to find no scratches on touchpad) I can totally live with.
The speaker issue is resolved.
The raid is now setup.
Everything is working great and I'm loving my new GT783R.

hey guys, ok so i've got this software manager wanting to update nuance pdf , how do i get rid of that or make it more usefull if it could update more software?

 

You can remove the 'Software Manager' in 'Add/Remove Programs', as it's primary function is updating the Nuance PDF software. Updates for this can be obtained from their website. Personally I got rid of the Nuance software too, and installed the Adobe PDF Reader. The Nuance reader is actually lighter on system resources, but sometimes old habits are hard to break.

 

Bought a new laptop.will arrive soon and im happy with the purchase, i cant be bothered with the gt70 or gt60. Not a co siderable boost, too high price, probably going to cost alot to buy different compoments therefore bought this notebook. Cant wait for some bf3 and d3 me3 so on forth.

quick question, I just got mine, last friday, just about got everything set up on it...which geforce driver is most stable with no known issues? the one that came stock is dated 6/12/2011, I have red the latest has had some issues...

lovin' it so far...such a step up from my previous laptop.

 

Not everyone has issues or the same issues so I suggest you try the newest Official WHQL 1st,version 296.10, then the previous Official WHQL if issues arise.

The vast majority are not having issues.

I'm using the Widows 8 Consumer Preview with 296.17 from Windows update since Feb 29th and haven't touched my Windows 7 x64 drive in just as long.

I'll live with the few pink screens until the next driver release.

People that do have issues seem to experience similar issues on both OS.

Version 296.17 on my desktop with a GTX570 has had no issues running the same OS.

 

thanks. I always been leery of instlling new video drivers, had numerous issues with catalyst on my previous laptop...

i downloaded the latest and will try it in the morning, also downloaded 295.73 as a backup.

I had been using 2 weeks but no pink or blue screen

as -=$tR|k3r=- requested regarding how my RMA went out. today I done my RMA @ local service centre (SC) here. first approach, I contacted malaysia's msi hq. then he/she send the new elixir RAM to the SC that we agreed on. i done memtest86 just now. all good to go. kudos to MSI customer service!

Nope, no driver issues, but I am still using 295.73. I did not update after issues were reported with the new driver...... waiting for the next release.

 

gpu settings: 0.9v, core / mem - 810 / 1950 (at 830 i get artifacts)
battlefield 3 settings: everything on ultra (antialiasing off)
=>
45 fps average (cpu - i5-2430m)
90 temp average (91 max) (stock paste)

A three hour run at this sustained temp seems dangerous to me. What do you think?

 

i've had this laptop for awhile and i can only guess that the fans inside are getting dusty and not as efficient the more time goes by. Do they need cleaning ever? Has anyone on here actually cleaned them? have any tips?

Yes fan needs to be clean every once a while. I clean it every 2~3 months.

Yeah someone please post a guide on how to clean the 78x series. That would help a lot!!!

 

Should i lower the clocks? Should i lower the voltage? Will i damage the gpu if i keep playing at these temps?
And, considering i can go as high as 827 / 1990 (3-7 fps improvement - 95 temp) what is my best option for lowering the temperature? I can't change the paste because in europe that would void the warranty. A very expensive cooler pad?

I clean my desktop fans with a small brush. Then I take all the dust out and it's good to go.

Your link shows R295 without opening it.

When viewing on NVidia .com the driver is under the R295 heading.

I no longer get my updates from there.

When viewing on geforce.com the driver download screen is presented a bit differently.

So I just bought a new 783-625 with gt580m and i7 2670. You guys are kinda scaring me with all these drivers and so on. Once i receive my laptop am i supposed to update anything like graphic card drivers, or will everything be fine out of the package?

 

Gant, yours will be good to go right out of the box. 295.85 is the most stable driver right now, and that is what you have.

The 296.10 will too often throw a screen freeze with weird color confusion. We call it the "pink screen" effect. Stay with 295.85 for now until they get that kink worked out.

where do you get 295.85 ?

 

I have the GT780R laptop and am having a problem getting my mic to work using the microphone-in jack (pink). The headset I am using has 3.5 mm connectors for both stereo sound and microphone. I plugged the mic into the pink port on the laptop but cannot get it to record.

The Realtek HD Audio Manager has the speakers set to Stereo. My Windows sound setup shows the microphone as being default and set to the 3.5 mm pink jack.

I have tried this headset with a different laptop that is only using the Microsoft audio drivers/manager and it works. Is there any way to get this to work using the Realtek audio manager or do I need to uninstall the drivers/manager and use only the drivers/manager from Microsoft? Also if I do that will there be any degradation of sound quality? (I don't care about the 5.1 or 7.1 surround at the moment)

 

Try turning up the mic boost in the Realtek panel. In order for people to hear me on teamspeak or whatever I have to have a +20 gain on Mic boost and still have the record level set to 90.

 

I tried the Mic Boost at +20 and +30 along with the record level at all different numbers up to 100. All I hear is static when I do the record playback testing.

 

I just discovered a very cool thing for those of you with unlimited data plans on your iphone or android. It's called tether.com. It allowed me to gether my phone to my GT783R so I have internet anywhere I go very very cool. Just wanted to share it.

 

I will receive my laptop on monday. I was wondering the first i should fully charge my battery and then fully drain it right? And also for prolonged periods of gaming can i just remove the battery? Or does the laptop stop charging it automatically?

 

I'm curious to know how the GT783 stacks up against my current machine when running the Crysis GPU benchmark. Has anyone tried this at 1920x1080, high settings, and 0 AA?

Never mind. I finally found a result at Tom's Hardware that is probably close enough. Using a 580m GTX in an unidentified laptop, they got 47.6 fps, about 40% faster than my current rig.

 

My GT780 is all ready falling apart. Plastic is breaking behind the screen at the hinge.

 

OMG. i thought this problem has been solved. omg. my gx620 had this problem, everything broke apart at the point the screen couldn't be sustained. msi warranty told me: not our fault, it's not covered by the warranty. One month ago when i started research for my next laptop i was decided not to buy another msi, till i found this forum and because most were saying that this problem has been solved with 780 series. again, omg. I'll stop closing the screen from now one, thanks jaycalgary for announcing. Even if there's 0,01% chances for that to happen again, i'd rather not take the risk. I don't even want to remember.

BTW,I've had my GT780DX since November 20th and have opened and closed it several times a day every day since then.It's as tight as the day I received it with no hinge problem at all.

If anyone does have a GT78x hinge problem please post an attached photo of it.

 

I thought the case was made with aluminium or is it 783-625 only?

 

I am running 296.10 and nothing wrong happened so far. I tried R300 but seems to work only for desktops i guess.
