So I now received my GT780DXR laptop from RMA.
Got an upgrade from 6gb ram > 8gb and 2x500gb instead of 1x 750gb. I personally would have taken 1x 750gb since I have 1 SSD but well...I shouldn't complain.
The computer was sent from MSI's repair center in Poland and wasn't..."sealed" as I understood it.
Anyway, I tested the keyboard since my other GT780DX was really defect. And I was right. It now reacts to my writing and doesn't slow down when I hold SHIFT. It hasn't either registered random keys. So far so good with it.
MSI does definitely everything to help their customers. Their ASP sucks in Sweden but MSI made this happen. Even if my laptop was corrupt as hell from the beginning, I still recommended GT780DXs to swedes and will continue doing so.
Edit: Seems like youtube caused the interference and cracking noise/beeps. Video deleted requested by MSI cause of a misunderstanding.
Also is there a site where I can get the updated drivers for the GT780DXR? MSI site seems outdated like people stated![]()

requesting a useable controller bios update and instructions from MSI tech support ticket system now.
first tech gave me the bios for the non lighted keyboard so I have now reflashed ENEF_029 /FLASH -B4C 1761EMS1.419 and after powerdown and reboot the SSD again connects at sata 6Gbs. Very strange and dosen't sound like a good thing. CougarPoint problem, Crucial Problem or other I don't know and it will be a lot of inconvienience to find out. -
Hm...there are still coming cracking sounds out of the speakers when I play music.
The volume is at 85% on the laptop. Is it supposed to do cracking sounds out of the speakers if the volume is upped? -
Hello everyone,
I bought the GT780DRX-672NL yesterday and it works like a charm. However when I tried to look for an additional AC Adapter online I was unable to find absolutely anything.
It is supposed to be a 180W, 19V 9.5A adapter with a 5,5 x 2,5mm round barrel. Are there any good and trustworthy websites where you could buy these? I'm very scared that my AC Adapter will break because I travel a lot with it and that my 1700 euro laptop will become a useless brick.
I'm calling MSI in the morning but I was wondering if you guys had any ideas. -

EDIT: Just noticed your model is EURO...... perhaps best to get with your local MSI branch..... sorry.

What is different is the cord that goes from the adapter to the wall outlet depending on the one used by your country.
You can buy the correct cord locally or a plug adapter that converts the foreign plug to the one you need.Attached Files:

Thanks for the response. I did visit the 4 reseller websites before posting however. Maybe I'm just bad at browsing but I was not able to find a page where I could but a standalone AC Adapter. Am I overlooking something?

I currently own a MSI GT783, can anyone what do i have to do to change the wireless card to a Bigfoot Killer Wireless-N 1103 3x3? I notice that this laptop came only with two antenna. Is it possible to fit a 3rd one in so that i can utilize the Bigfoot Killer Wireless to its maximum performance? Would it void the warranty? I really don mind bout losing the bluetooth function that much. Any idea where i can get the Bigfoot Killer Wireless-N 1103 in Australia as well? Thanks.

Yea I did try to contact Affordable Laptops - laptops, notebooks for sale online Australia and in fact i actually bought my MSI GT783 from them. They don't offer any solutions for upgrades for the MSI laptops and they do not sell the Bigfoot Killer Wireless-N 1103(3x3) as well. Do I need to do any sort of modification in order to fit the Bigfoot Killer Wireless-N 1103(3x3) inside the GT783 considering the stock only have two antennas?

WhatsThePoint Notebook Virtuoso
The Touch Control Bar is lifted out of the case,it is snapped in with no screws, and then its a simple swap. The wireless card is approximately under the power on button
When going to a 3 antenna card like the Killer 1103 and Intel 6300 the bezel around the LCD needs to be removed so the 3rd antenna can be placed on the side of the panel and the antenna wire snaked through the hinge.
I previously posted instructions with pictures in the forum from when I did the upgrade myself to the 1103.
PM Gentech for the card and antenna.
While the bezel is off remove the plastic piece covering the MIC holes.

3dmark 11 : 3492

Got Witcher 2 at max without ''ubersampling'' and BF3 at high/ultra on average 23-30 fps - so with some more details adjustments acceptable levels. -
Anyone here with GT783 (2630QM/16RAM/gtx580)
Im looking at this laptop and want to hear some opinions.
also I configure it one on DevilTech (Germany) and it's 200 Euro cheaper than exactly same MSI in my coutry Poland -
Can anyone assist me with this problem?

Any experience with 2920xm ES D0 stepping or any 2920xm. I'm planning to buy one from e-bay (ES version D0 stepping). I'm wondering is it overclockable in the GT780 or not, it needs special BIOS to oc or not.
-
Nop unfortunately you won't be able to overclock it anyhow, the bios is fully locked. However, you can o/c the BCLK (bus=100mhz) of your 2670qm to achieve slight better performances, but for that you need to load the unlocked BIOS of the GT780.
edit: seems like the GT60 and 70 are a bit ahead of schedule! Available here:

The GT60 looks gorgeous (about similiar design as GT780 but in a 15.6"!) -
Thx! Where can I find the unlocked BIOS.
My biggest problem is I can't fix the cpu clock when I'm playing.
How is the 2920xm, possible to fix the clocks at 3.4-3.5GHz, (4 cores) or not because of the BIOS.
3.4-3.5 GHz is the maximum (no overclock) for the 2920xm If I'm right. That's enough for me. -
Hi guys tell me your audio settings
-
my audio settings: drivers uninstalled.
No joke. I was using the recommended driver. One day I tried to update it so I uninstalled first, and just for kicks I played one song at max volume - result -> OMG. I don't have time to convince anybody that it's true, I'm sure most will think that I "heard" wrong (I would think the same if I haven't heard it). So, play 10-20 seconds of a song at max volume, remember "how loud it sounds", uninstall drivers, restart, play the same portion again. If it works, have fun, if not - my bad. -
Could anyone please give feedback on this very unfortunate situation? It's very vital :/ I would really love to hear from other retailers around the globe and regular customers.
Well the first GT780DX I bought had a defect keyboard, speakers were doing buzz/cracking sounds, and a loud heavy clicking HDD after a couple of months. I had difficulties convincing my ASP that the laptop was defect from the beginning since they were convinced that nothing was wrong with the laptop.
MSI decided to replace my laptop with another laptop which they sent from Poland. I felt it was a good move from their side to take actions.
However, my warranty with my retailer was VOIDED/CEASED once I swapped models. Which was really bad (I was informed by the RMA Manager that it shouldn't void the current warranty with my retailer).
So I got my laptop and well, the cracking/buzzing sounds from the speakers was even more intensive than the previous laptop.
I recorded the sounds and gave it to the RMA manager in MSI. He gave me two options and I quote;
1. "So I think the quick action for you is credit your laptop, do you agree for this proposal?"
2. "If possible, you also can go to your retailer to see the similar models (GT780DX-435NE or GT780DXR-435NE) is there any problem like what you faced.
If the unit is normally, we can arrange to swap a new laptop to you from your retailer also."
I asked him what he meant "credit my laptop". He replied; "That means MSI will give you a refund for your laptop."
I was very happy with that solution because I've now been given two laptops that were defect and been wasting a lot of time running back and forth to my retailer to fix my laptop which I bought for 1700 euros.
I ask the RMA Manager how the procedure will be and how they will pay me. He told me; "Sorry for I do not know due to it needs to ask our HQ, so please help to return your laptop to our ASP again (really sorry) and take a note it is approved by MSI to credit the laptop and we will process it ASAP, thanks."
I informed him immediately that I'll return the laptop ASAP next morning. Which I did.
My retailer whom my warranty has been voided asked me why I'm returning the laptop to the ASP, I answered that MSI is gonna refund me the money because this laptop was defect aswell.
I had to pay 50 euros to send it to the ASP, yeah no problem.
I come home and inform the RMA manager that I've sent it and informed my retailer that I was gonna get refunded by MSI.
The MSI manager then says;
"Please ask your retailer that your laptop has the sound problem that’s why you need to return back your laptop for repairing again.
You do not need to tell them what I told you that the laptop will be credit by MSI.
But actually, I do not know what your retailer will deal with this case for you even MSI credit your laptop.
Maybe your retailer will give you a new laptop with another brand or give you the money."
But the retailer has nothing to do with this RMA anymore. MSI is the one who's supposed to refund me and RMA the laptop, my retailer can't help me since I don't got any warranty nor the laptop I bought from them since I already sent it to get the new defected laptop.
I then try to ask him that I don't understand what he means, is he gonna give me a refund or what is happening? I've already sent the laptop as he requested.
He replied; Actually, in normal process that your retailer will get the money directly or another way that I am not sure.
But sorry for I do not know how retailers will process this with the end users like you.
Excuse me? You informed me from the beginning that you CAN and WILL refund me if I requested it. I did and MSI told me to send the laptop to the ASP. Now he's saying that the retailer will refund me? Which the retailer refuses to do so cause I don't have the product I bought from them?
What is going on? Am I getting fooled and lied by MSI? Why is he first telling me that refunding is a possibility if I want to and then after I sent my laptop he then says that MSI can't do anything?
This is just getting worse and worse. -
If you have the copies of the emails you used you should use them and contact msi hq, that person got probably confused. Stay cool and talk reasonably and make hq understand by explaining your situation without too much complaining and fingerpointing, show respect to the person youre talking to and have talked to, if you manage to make the msi hq simpathize you may able to find solution to your unfortunate case. Good luck. And yes that sucks. I never had any such problems with my laptop yet. On a side note, what retailer did you use?

However, since MSI decided to swap the models and I accepted it, the warranty was voided with my retailer since the laptop I received was not the product I bought from them so they have absolutely NOTHING to do with me anymore.
Which is sad -

I'll retrieve my laptop ASAP from my retailer and do another video.
Thanks for the feedback. -
"Is there anyway that I could do to fix the problem so that I can use recovery system again? "
that can't be fixed if you use just "system partition recovery", you'll need to wipe the entire drive and start fresh. that's what i would do.
When you are ready, insert your 1st dvd and boot from it. At the presentation screen choose "hard disk recovery" which will recreate all partitions and also recreate & fix your recovery partition aswell. This is the one you want.
Otherwise just using "system partition recovery" won't fix your recovery partition problem i think.
But from what i understand of the problem you said about not being able to use your recovery partition, in this case you might as well go with the "hard disk recovery" and it will recreate all the partitions it needs for your computer to work like new out of the box.
Btw, the drivers disc that came with your computer does not need to be used after using these recovery discs. Your system will be good to go like on day 1.
That drivers disc is only intended to get you started if you use a regular (vanilla) Windows you bought at a store and even then is probably too old by now to be of use but it will get you on the net so you can find the newest drivers, to which i refer you to the 1st post in this very thread, it has all the necessary drivers and apps if you want to update them, Striker and WhatsThePoint have made every effort to keep this post updated as much as possible.
You should see the realtek download page after agreeing with the download policy.
i read strange behaviors can occur if the electrical outlet has a bad ground, try it in anohter house or unplugged just on battery.

NEED RECOVERY DISKS. I have read several posts and need to check my facts. I used Burn Recovery to make the set of 3 recovery disks for my
gt780r-012us. I tested them with a restore. It wiped the partitions clean but could not complete the recovery . The disks are probably bad. Perhaps I created 3 of the same disks, or otherwise messed up (keeps prompting for the next disk). I have put in a service request with MSI with the expectation that I can obtain a 3 disk factory restore from them. Am I correct in that this is the only way to restore to factory setup once the recovery partition is gone? Thanks. -

A clean installation of the operating system with the newest drivers, software and utilities is always best every time.r
I recommend a clean installation between 6mos and a year of use or if a major software related issue arises.
Download a Windows 7 ISO and unpack it onto a 4GB or larger USB stick.
Download all the newest drivers,MSI utilities and software before starting and put it all on a USB flash drive.
Maybe this post will help.

Hey Smitty, your realtek link and my realtek link both work for me and open to the same Realtek page to agree to the terms? -
now for the msi disc backup, i got a nit to pick with msi about that, its a problem in the backup software itself, its not clear that it wants to make a 2nd disc, the steps are gonna confused 1st time buyers.
when i made my 1st set i wasn't sure it wanted another disc or if it wanted disc 2.
bad form in the software makes it confusing.
i bet gjk735 got confused and made 3 of disc 1 instead.
Bad msi, bad bad msi. they need to make it more clear.
and while talking about the msi backup software, the restore process from dvd should just auto-eject the disc when done copying it then ask for the next one. -

I have found that if leave BOINC running at full tilt in the background when I try to play a CPU/Graphics intense game I get some crackling from the speakers and of course performance is hindered. It isn't as consistant as your video which seems to almost repeat a pattern.
Mine is just random and I just figured I am maxing out system resources because as soon as I snooze or shut down BOINC all is well. -

Hey guys, Any of you have the gt783-625 US? for some reason the turbomode button is not working, i press the shortcut above the keyboard, and turbo mode turns on for a second adn then turns back off in a little while (15sec to 30sec). anyone know why?

Anyone trying the new NVIDI Verde Beta Driver v301.24?
Drivers - GeForce
i'm gonna try this on my W8CP installation to see if it gets rid of the pink screens. -
from what i gleam from this forum: its there to be used with the msi afterburner program. you open the program, press P1 , tune the mem & shader clock speeds to something higher and stable, then save it. next time you turn on P1 it goes to that.
like i said i don't use it, the laptop is good for me as is for now. -
WhatsThePoint Notebook Virtuoso
The NVIDIA OC Tool must be installed and working(icon by the clock).
When the P1 button is on and operational the MSI Afterburner software can be run to overclock the Graphics Card core, memory and shaders.
Then when the P1 is turned off the graphics card returns to stock speeds. -
Hey all, I've had my GT780DXR for quite a while now and as protection, I've always set it on top of the slim cardboard box that came with it while using it in bed/around the house....Well the cardboard is starting to dent in and look kinda shabby so I am wondering if by experience any of you have found the perfect notebook cooler (or whatever pad to set it on while sitting up in bed etc)...Looking forward to hearing your ideas!

you don't need anything fancy, just a wide & sturdy enough book or a 3$ cutting board will do.

Hello guys,
Do you have any ideas how to clean brushed alluminium on the top and near the keyboard of my gt780r? I've already tried a few liquids but i'm not satisfied with the effect. -
Post here if you got it to work correctly or if you are still having trouble. -
Ok I installed OC Tool and now it seems to be working as the P1 button stays lit, however should I also install MSI afterburner? and im not quite sure if im getting the boost.
and now for some reason at startup my inter RST service is never working, and i have to double click on the icon so it starts running -
Thank smitty123 for your comment. I tried, but it failed again. However, I got a RMA, so I will ship it to MSI, and they will fix it for me
