There is no known problem with the M4 series from Crucial in the GT78x notebooks.
Tip: use the latest firmware for these SSDs as it improves the performace.

Afterburner does not work if I don't enable TDE mode, which is what I'm trying to do from windows instead of having to hit the P1 button in my laptop laying in the shelf.
    Thanks for responding tho.

To activate TDE (Turbo Drive Engine) with the P1 button of the touch-bar, it's MSI's Nvidia VGA OC tool that is needed..... not AfterBurner. AfterBurner is used to clock or OC above and beyond the limitations of P1 TDE..... and is not needed for the P1 button to function properly.

Hi all, have you encountered a keyboard that has some lights with shades of green and violet at the bottom? I just bought mine and was wondering if it is normal. I went earlier in their service center and they showed me a unit with the same behavior. Note that I selected an all white color mode and the symptom is evident even in the BIOS

The webcam cannot be detected as well on Windows 7 64 bit. I have not tried to install yet the 32 bit edition.

By the way if you are wondering, I have put a semi clear keyboard cover. Works nice for protecting against dirt and dust for only a buck!

The webcam uses native OS drivers, and works fine under 64-bit WIN 7. Also, the webcam is 'off' by default, so this explains why it does not appear in the 'Device Manager'. Press Fn + F6 to activate it..... or you can also do this via the desktop 'S-Bar'. Once activated, it will then appear in the 'Device Manager' under the category of 'Imaging Devices'. You will see an on-screen prompt letting you know when it is turned on or off. Unfortunately, MSI did not install a webcam 'On' indicator light. Install any HD webcam software and you should be in business. If it appears 'blurry', you probably missed removal of the thin scratch-preventive shipping film covering the lens.

It sounds as though some event has occured that is interupting the S-Bar system start-up. Try completely removing the software, reboot the system, and then reinstall the S-Bar software. Also, new S-Bar software is available, and a link for this can be found in the thread's lead post.... in the 'How To's' section.

Yes, but in order to be able to use the nVidia VGA OC tool you need to activate TDE first, aka pressing the P1 button which is what I want to do from windows.

I'm sure there must be some kind of shortcut path that can be able to activate TDE from windows... i just need to know which :(

good to know i must've gotten my program confused lol

i noticed the s-bar seems to break when i use msconfig to stop some programs, including the sbar itself, and then re-enable them after doing what i need to do.

but you can have it auto start again :

1.) The user puts a shortcut into the "startup" folder
2.) The user puts an entry in the registry e.g. regedit

    at HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

create a string names sbar and type the path to sbar.exe

with double backslashes in the path to the exe.

you should be back in business.

Thank you for the very thorough help for the Webcam -=$tR|k3r=-. Will try that soon as I get home.

It's locally available here in the Philippines in an omnipresent store called CD-R King. If you live here I'd be happy to send you one. It's also available in Amazon: Amazon.com: universal keyboard protector: Electronics. You can also do search on your favorite online sites using the keyphrase "Universal Keyboard Protector" :)

By the way guys do any of you experience unwanted colors in the Keyboard LED? Or can you please tell me if the all-white option gives you a strictly all white lighting? Sorry to ask again but the RMA here is only 7 days and for me will end on Thursday :confused2:

The newest utilities:S-Bar,NVIDIA OC Tool,KLM,THX AP and THX EQ are on the GT70 downloads.

    http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GT70-0NC.html#/?div=Utility&os=Win7 64

BTW,I've installed all of these updated versions on my GT780DX and they work without issue.

I have the S-Bar pinned to the taskbar.I don't have it load onstartup so I don't have the icon at the top of the screen on startup. When I need it I click on it in the taskbar.

myself , i use a Swiffer sweeper refill on the keyboard when there's dust or hairs. found in any general food store or walmart. Swiffer | Where To Buy Swiffer Products

Works great and get months of usage out of just 1 of them.

because why would you cover up the keyboard like that when you can just enjoy the colors and close the lid when done for the day. its not meant to be covered up.

    lol

i agree, this is not all white when i set it to all white, never noticed since i don't use white much.

The bottom row of keys is colored green and pink and the numpad too. all the letter keys are white tho, its just the rest that have a pinkish hue.

But if KLM could allow us to set each individual key or group of key like the winkey, the ctrl, alt, shift, enter key, the number itself to different colors , on a granular lever so to speak, it could be a cool effect.

Just noticed the "0 ins" on the numpad is pink AND green at the same time !
    lol

Come on MSI we paid 2grand for this, we deserve the good stuff !

Hey buddy. Thanks for the confirmation. Did it bothered you or has your 1 Year Warranty? passed? :)

Hi All, so far the people here have reported the same issue as mine I guess the more proper question now is - is there anyone here that has no discoloration for their LED Keyboards? :err:

Yeah, my reply to smitty123 was simply addressing the misconception of AfterBurner's need for TDE to function.

Essentially TDE is the NV VGA OC tool. Without the required OC tool, TDE will not function, however the P1 button is still fully programmable for launching other programs. Agreed, if we knew the correct shortcut or file path, it should be easy launching TDE without use of the 'programmable' P1 button. Unfortunately I have not played with this, so I am not certain what this path would be. When installed, the OC tool becomes a system start-up, so my hunch is the answer (P1 switching) lies somewhere within the proprietary S-Bar software.

Perhaps one of the resellers here may know, or they can address your question with MSI. Another thought would be calling MSI tech support directly with your specific requirement.

Good luck with this, and please let us know what you discover.

    :)

    hi guys,

    im a bit curios...

poeple suggest to have an SSD for faster peformances..

    1 have an MSI GT780 i5 500G variant...

    website says below about HDD:
    750GB SATA 7200rpm+ Intel 120GB SSD
    500GB SATA 7200rpm+ Intel 120GB SSD
    750GB(4K sector)*2
    750GB SATA 7200rpm*2
    500GB SATA 7200/5400rpm*2
    320GB SATA 5400rpm*2

    so does that mean:

1- i cant put extra 1T HDD sata on another slot?
    2 - how about another 750G HDD?

msi on website recommends windows7 professional..

1 - does that mean, windows7 ultimate is not ok?

    thanks..

1: You can put any drives in another slot as long as they are 9.5mm SATA drive.

2: You can install any versions of Windows 7, the drivers are all the same.

9.5mm is the height of the drive and roughly 3/8"

    Thinner is OK also.

On my GT780DX there's 7 screws that need to be removed to take off the bottom cover.

You can look at this post for driver, utilities and software links.

Quick idea like that for MSI : label the drive bays inside the casing P0 & P1 or HDD0 and HDD1.

its always good info to have on hand when you're setting up your drives.

im kinda wondering, my memory usage is always at around ~1.98G...i have checked also my roommate's gming desktop, and it also shows the same...

no apps running...only the desktop gadgets running (cpu usage meter, gpu meter, battery meter, calendar and clock)....

also, to all gamers, would you prefer not removing the charger even though battery is already full?

You could try ending each program one by one and see which takes the most memory, but 1.98GB is nothing actually, you shouldn't be worried.

I usually remove my battery and keep the charger running.

    the steelseries?

that company only makes us english keyboards afaik.

i'd rather have a CANfrench keyb myself but for gaming its fine. working, well it depends if you work mostly in english or not.

but you can plug any usb keyb and it'll work like on a desktop

Hey guys, having issues with my GT780DXR, gpu is running at 75c idle with no turbo fan, 64c with, but under load it goes to 95c. This is way too high and is causing performance issues.

    Wondering if repasting would help?

Woah woah woah, you have 12-16 gigs of ram and you're worried about ram usage? What is this.

Us gamers always stay plugged in with battery locked and loaded. :)

Run the task manager to view the running processes and the memory they are using.

The MSI 9 cell battery only supplies 87W of power. If you want to game on a GT78x series use the AC Adapter.
