Okay I tried the recommended beta driver for this game 310.70

I only have a few startup programs avast anti virus and a few temperature readings and msi afterburner to see my GPU temperature in game

I did not overclock and tried the lowest settings on direct x 9 too

Playing on multiplayer and wired connections

The fps is alright but encounter running or fast pace movements the lag spikes turn out

what does frame rate has to do with internet ?

playing online would only show other players as stuck in their tracks and jumping from spot to spot in the map.

if anything this seems hardware related.

does far cry 3 use the same engine as Crysis 2 Maxmum edition?

i have that game a could test at same specs as He1p, if he would give them to me.

    answering my own question:

Far Cry 3's engine is Dunia Engine 2 using Havok physics

while crysis 2 is CryEngine 3

ok so i guess i can't help you there.

maybe someone else has the game also ?

He said he's getting lag playing online.

Lag during online playing is usually from a high ping.

five secret tips to help you reduce or eliminate lag, and make online gaming more stable and enjoyable.

Without further ado, here are five proven ways to fix a laggy game experience!

    1. Shut down all PC downloads and sharing apps.
File-sharing programs such as BitTorrent are infamous for eating up bandwidth, and will guarantee you a choppy online gaming experience on your game system.

Big downloads, such as Apple Store TV shows or movies, will also slow down your online game. If you're playing online, try to limit any PC Internet use beyond simple web browsing or e-mail.

    2. Cable internet beats DSL every single time.
There's a reason a DSL connection costs less than cable internet: it's slower and less stable. In fact, some industry groups have recommended stripping DSL of its "broadband" label because it can only handle a fraction of the speed of a cable connection.

DSL is fine for speedy web browsing, but cable reigns supreme for online gaming. Cable internet is also relatively inexpensive if you're already a cable TV subscriber - ask your provider for package deals.

    3. With Wi-Fi, placement is everything.
Your wireless Wi-Fi router has a limited range, and consoles can be pretty picky about that signal (especially if the Wi-Fi has to go through a wall).

Try to place your console close to your router to get the best results. If you're still seeing a strong signal, yet experiencing lag, try changing your game system's location in the room, or flipping it horizontally or vertically.

    4. Hardwire it!
Though wireless Wi-Fi is more convenient, a hardwired Ethernet connection is unbeatable for online gaming - it's faster and more reliable. The downside: an ugly cable that leads from your Internet router to your game system.

If your cable or DSL jack is located close to your entertainment system, you'll definitely want to use an Ethernet cable for maximum performance. Even if the Internet jack is located far away, you may consider running the Ethernet cable under the carpet, along a wall, or under floorboards to conceal it.

    5. Choose top-quality internet hardware.
Don't expect top-level gaming performance from that cheap $20 internet router you bought at CostCo. Instead, spend a little more and get a quality router from a trusted manufacturer such as Netgear,Linksys or D-Link.

i know he said he gets low frame rates in multiplayer but for all we know he's not big on single player campaigns.
he didn't say if it happened in single player.

However, framerate isn't usualy affected by ping, if anything like i said, if high pings you get shot before you even step on to the map.

so i'm thinking its hardware, since the tests at SRL are pretty conclusive if the hardware can handle it or not.

lets just wait and see if his GTX680 can handle it too.

So, since the installation of the latest batch of Windows 8 updates today, SCM throws an Unhandled Exception has occurred in your application error on every restart.

Win 8 users might want to hold off on installing SCM until MSI fixes this (if ever).

Does anyone know a way around this? Can this .Net 4.5 error message be disabled?

I am preparing to install a 7970m into my GT780DXR-621UK (570m current) and was wondering if I need to flash the system bios with a modified version or if the current (1761 30H) is ok?

Can't seem to find definitive answer in this or the 7970m modification thread.

    Thanks

No, not tried compatibility. Might do if no fix is forthcoming.
Anyway, doesn't bother too much as it continues to actually work.
It just throws the error message at you every time.

On my Windows 8 Pro installation I have all the updates installed and SCM.

    No error messages so far.

I can't figure out the real need for SCM other than it fixes an issue with Cinema Pro II?

Am I missing something with SCM?

There's an icon in the tray but clicking on it does nothing.

NVIDIA Geforce driver verision 310.70 is no longer a beta driver. It's now an Official WHQL driver

Microsoft closes forced activation flaw in Windows 8

Until recently, it was possible to run copies of Windows 8 without a valid license by using a Media Center key. The elaborate and, of course, illegal trick involved activating Windows 8 temporarily with the help of a bogus Key Management Server (KMS). By subsequently enabling the Media Center with a product key, which is currently available free of charge, Windows could be activated permanently without the appropriate license.

Microsoft has now closed this loophole. Neowin reports that attempting to do so now produces a code 0xC004C4AA error message. According to Microsoft, this error code points out that the user has tried to enable the Media Center on a copy of Windows that wasn't "purchased on the Windows website or at a retail store".

I had a little bit of time today to give my GT780DX a bit of holiday decor after finally finishing last minute shopping.

I took the bezel off and then removed the LCD panel without disconnecting any wires and then covered the M S I with colored film in a red-green-yellow combination.

The latest version of the drivers Version: 6.1.0.395, alot of BF/Killer 1103 have connection problems. idk about the 1202 but they use the same drivers.

The BF/Killer site doesn't show more recent drivers since 2012-07-09. Version: 6.1.0.395 Killer Gaming :: Support :: Driver Downloads

But in the forums there's a beta fix for that problem Unusual Connectivity Issue for Wireless N 1103

You'd think for all the support and word of mouth the fans have been doing for BF/Killer networks, they'd take care of the problem quickly.

but, if you don't want to deal with that, i would go with the intel 6235

Shut your router off every few weeks and disconnect the power to flush the cache.

I haven't had any issues with my Killer 1103 and Netgear R6300 router combination on Windows 7 x64 using driver 395 or 437 from the killergaming site but on Windows 8 it's been a different story.

Using Windows 8 Pro I would experience a 30 sec to 1 minute wait for the wireless network to be available when a cold bootup reached the desktop using 437 so I instead use the Atheros Osprey driver v10.0.0.221 WHQL
    Atheros & Zidas drivers

Not much else doing these days because of the holidays but if you're interested there's some new software versions for popular programs.

@Elizab7eth i have the glossy and i don't have a problem with the reflection from it from like lamps and windows on the side or above, barely from behind tho, like when i sit in the kitchen there's a window right behind me so there is some refleection, but that's a given for all glossy screens.

When i boot up its quickly made, so i'm lucky. my old centrino used to be slower to connect.

See what happens is i loose internet connection for anywhere between 5 and 20 minutes (i just reset the modem or router and it works again)

but when i loose internet i still have Lan. so i'm tempted to blame the modem.

However one new thing now is half the time i can't login to the router to reboot it.
i type its ip but i don't get a connection, no popup for login name, nada. just err_connection_time_out.

So that brings me back to the router or wifi card/drivers since there is a known bug in the killer drivers. They are aware of it and there's a pseudo beta avail in the forums, they're just not coming out wiht a new version on their drivers page, its like they've abandonned win 7 completely.

btw, win 8 are at Version 6.1.0.437
and win 7 are still at Version: 6.1.0.395

i would try the 437 if i knew they were 100% compatible with win 7

in the meantime, when it'll happen again i'll have to try to make a connection with another router i have when that happens. and that should clear things up a bit more.

Looks like @Elizab7eth post was removed.....bot or troll?

Smitty,I have 437 on my Windows 7 x64 SSD now.

You can completely uninstall the Bigfoot Network Manager and driver then try the Atheros Osprey 10.0.0.221 driver.to see if it resolves your connection issues.
    Atheros & Zidas drivers

Logging into my Netgear routers typing routerlogin.net in the browers has never been an issue for me.The login sceen always pops up.

I'm wired right out off the wall into the router.I don't need a modem. My highrise apt complex is centrally fiber optic wired.

My Internet TV,Internet Phone and Internet is an all in one $30/month service from LG.

A service from SK is even better.

    Your issue may be elsewhere.

    thanks WTP

the problem happens for both wired or wireless. one time when this happened i even bypassed the router and plugged right in the modem, but it didn't do any good. i had to reboot the modem to get a connection.

see whats confusing is whether i reboot the modem or router i always get a connection after that. for all i know both are defective.

i did call up my isp but its that time of year where ppl are on and off . since its not a terrible problem like complete loss of connection i'm not gonna push it right now but come Jan 2nd you bet. the bad icey weather might be something to look for , i'll let the cable guy handle the cables outside..

course the phone company just installed fiber optics on my street, i could just give em a ring.

"all in one $30/month service from LG."
interesting, is there a monthly quota?

how can i get in on that in canada ?

    Hey guys, massive problem here.

I bought a GT780dxr last year around Nov/December. The problem is, it's just died.
No warning, I was just playing a game and it powered down out of nowhere. Not due to battery or power cable as both were in the laptop at the time. I've disassembled it, cleaned the fan and fan outlets on the heatsink, put it back together, crossed my fingers and clicked the power button... Nothing.
I've no idea what's wrong, the temps were definitely not high enough to fry anything but regardless, how would I check if my motherboard is fried?
The sickening thing is the laptop is only 1 month out of warranty (in Europe).
If the mobo is fried, is there any way I can replace it myself and how much would it cost me?
Thanks in advance, any help is appreciated.

This is only a guess on my part.

Did anyone accidentally trip on the power cord recently or yank it to the side somehow?

If the soldered on connector where the power adapter plugs into the notebook and connects to the motherboard inside the notebook is loose or broken the notebook can't get power and the battery will go dead.

Before it shut off was the game running slowly?

If you lightly wiggle the power plug right where it sticks into the notebook while pressing the power button does any of the front led lights go on?

The connector on the motherboard can be best viewed when the graphics card is removed.

Your signature shows it to be a US model. If it was shipped from the US there's still a year or more left on the warranty depending on the offer at the time ordered.

    A motherboard is not cheap.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

The game was running at a slower frame rate, maybe of 5-6 second intervals every now and again, I thought that might just be down to lag and not an actual hardware problem.

There were no hiccups with the power cord, the adapter was still warm for about an hour or more after the laptop turned off.

The odd thing is the battery was full, the power cord was connected and working and it just literally died. I doubt it was a power surge or anything like that as my brother also had his laptop plugged into the same extension cable.

As I'm in Europe, would the warranty still apply to me?
Also I should probably mention that the GPU was overclocked, not by much at all though, I tested extensively before setting the clocks.

Thanks for the link, at least I now know what kind of price I'd be looking at.

it would be a good idea to check if the warranty is still in effect.

i believe these are the correct urls WTP?

    Member & Product Registration Center

or if it was purchased in usa http://service.msicomputer.com/msi_user/productlogin.aspx

best case is they have approved repair shops in Europe.
or if they want to ship to usa then its a bit more costly but still less than a new mobo.

worst case scenario if that mobo swap doesn't fix the entire problem, you might have to buy a whole new set of components if the damage is severe.

i would let msi double-check everything on the computer, cpu, gpu, ram, all of it to ensure 100% working order even the power-brick test it all.

Hey all---I've had my GT780DX for a little over a year and haven't had any serious issues....yet. Recently though my keyboard light manager (klm.exe) has stopped working and I'm not sure what I need to do to fix it. I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it but I still get the "klm.exe has stopped working" message at start up. Anyone have any ideas?

    Welcome to the MSI forum!

It's usually difficult to diagnose problems on someone else's notebook without sitting down in front of it if you haven't had the problem yourself but here goes.

Run as administrator the command sfc /scannow to find file system errors.

Then download this version of the KLM utility and install by right clicking on the exe file and run as admin. It works for W7 and W8
    MSI Global – Download Center

If you get the screen to modify, repair or uninstall pick repair.

Sometimes running certain software like CCleaner and Optimizing Utilities removes the S-Bar from the start menu.

When I was using the S-Bar I pinned it to the taskbar and removed it from the start menu.If I needed the S-Bar I would simply click on the taskbar icon to bring it up.

For this version of the S-Bar linked below netFramework version 4.5 needs to be installed 1st.

    netFramework 4.5
Download .NET Framework 4.5 from Official Microsoft Download Center

    S-Bar;
    MSI Global – Download Center

If you are using the older Net Framework 4.0 then install this version of the S-Bar utility.
    MSI Global – Download Center

BTW,have you guys seen the Haswell CPU lineup.Haswell when it's released will be in my next notebook.

    Hello WTP and friends...
I'm new here, but this is the best spot imo for MSi G series info so here it goes!
1.) I have a mostly stock (twin SSD's) GT 780R running Win 8. The realtek card reader driver will not install correctly and I have removed and re installed the reader in device manager. Any workarounds for this?
2.) Is it possible to get the GT780R to play a single audio stream through bluetooth speakers and the internal sound system at once with the stock sound card?
3.) Does software exist to fix and correct SSD's? The only thing I have found that works remotely is Raxco Perfect Disk. I have 2 Kingston Hyper X 256GB (grey models) at RAID 0. I know Kingston makes software for some of their models but notfor mine (the last time I checked anyway).
    Thank you for your time!

#1-I'm using the RTS5139 v6.2.8400.39034 driver from the page linked below in my W8 Pro installation.
    Realtek drivers

#2-I have no experience with it.

#3-What is it you want to fix with your raid array?Once an array is broken it's hard to recover the data. These consumer SSDs were not designed to be reliable in a raid0 array.

I had 2 x 240GB SanDisk Extreme SSDs in R0 for awhile but went back to single SSD setups.
I now have my bios set to raid but all 3 SSDs(1 in optical drive bay) are non member disks.

I'm thinking of getting a 480GB Corsair Neutron GTX for my primary boot drive.IMO it's the best SSD presently on the market.

For Raid Trim to work properly the Intel Raid Utility OROM needs to be an 11 series and the iRST also needs to be an 11 series. On my GT780DX the OROM only 10.2.

@He1p - The touchpad you can get at RK computers and several other places for $60-$100 U.S. depending. WTP knows the best spot I'm sure.
He also posted what he thought was the best SSD on the market atm, which is the "Corsair Neutron GTX".
    Have a great day!

WTP - Thank you so much for the Realtek link!
I was mistaken about my RAID array, I have it at RAID 1 for increased speed, but from what you have mentioned, about the intel drivers, Idk if it really is working correctly.
Also, thats sweet that you stuck an SSD inside of the optical bay! The fourth SATA port on the G78xxx is the external SATA port, correct?
Again thank you for your time!
