So I went ahead and called MSI since I haven't heard anything from them, and its delayed because they are waiting for a motherboard to come in. So I'm happy they found the issue, or at the very least are just gonna replace stuff lol. I wonder if the motherboards had unnoticed issues? I mean, there have been at least 5 people so far I think just here alone that said they needed new motherboards, and thats just the ones I have personally seen over the last 10-15 pages here. Seems like an awful lot of motherboard issues with these. I will just be happy when it comes in

on a side note, any recommendations to avoid a possible repeat of this in the future? I am going to build a custom cooler for myself once I get the laptop back which I plan to post the progress in case anyone else likes it when im done. I think I have a good layout figured out, I'll see how it goes.

People come on forums when they have issues and the motherboard is the central component it has the most things to go wrong...

Ok, got my new SSD installed all my applications and files back on the computer and everything works great...Except for one thing. The computer will not go to sleep, on battery, with power, nothing I have tried including selecting sleep from the menu, closing the lid, and hitting the power button will make it sleep.

I installed all the drivers listed on the MSI site for windows 7 x64 so I dont think that would be it, where should I look? The other day it wasnt plugged in and I just closed it like always and in the morning it was completely dead, never slept.

Thanks guys. Also, anyone who is considering a swap to a SSD, just do it. This is blazing fast now!

It will be air, I've honestly never even seen a liquid cooled setup lol. I got an idea for a base with 2 60mm and creating a ram air type opening directly into only the intake area on the bottom of the laptop, and then have 2 60mm pulling the air out from the outlet area on the side, with fan speed controller. A friend of mine did something along those lines and its loud but I usually have a headset on. I can honestly say it won't be a fashion statement since Its gonna be sitting on my desk but I will make sure its functional

Definitely installed the chipset, that was the first one I installed. Is the inf driver seperate? Didnt see a DL link on the MSI page unless I missed it. There are no unknown devices in device manager although something may be using some default windows driver or something. To elaborate on the problem it acts like it is going to sleep but the fan keeps running forever and the keyboard is still lit up, I can only "wake" it by pressing the power button.

Weirdest part is that it will hibernate, just wont sleep.

I have a post in this thread that may be of use when doing a clean Windows 7 x64 installation on a GT78x series notebook.

I try to keep it updated with the newest drivers, software and utilities.

On my Windows 8 Pro and now on the leaked Windows Blue I use the Classic Shell App to bring back Windows 7 features like the Start Button.

The new version,v3.6.6 released today works on Windows Blue(Windows 8.1) 6.3 kernel
    Welcome to Classic Shell

New setting to make the taskbar opaque, many bugfixes and improvements.

Looks like I found the problem, I hope it was at least. Check out the system logs and there was an error every time it tried to sleep, bad printer driver was hanging it up. Uninstalled it and so far so good, got the correct driver for my printer and it works so I think it is good.

    Thanks for the help.

    Here I am :)

Back from testing integration. So far so good :)
I did integrate the NEC/Renesas USB 3.0 driver into the boot.wim and Windows 7 booted and recognised my flash drive.
So smitty123 it does work. You have to integrate it only in the image index 2 of the boot.wim, that is where the setup files are stored.
I followed this guide on driverpack forums: http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=5199
    Try it ;)

Did you use NEC/Renesas driver 2.1.39.0?

I hear now that Internet Cafes in Florida are now illegal with the governor signing it into law.

No more sipping your Starbucks while surfing the web in Florida.

Nah, see a florida internet cafe isn't really a cafe. It's directed at those adult arcade type places and whatnot, lots of jobs were destroyed. Over 1000 internet cafe's in the state of florida, 14k jobs lost. This was the wrong way to go about it. Starbucks is safe, its a Coffee Shop with WiFi, big difference apparently then "Internet Cafe" lol

In a nutshell, they were mad people were winning money and not giving enough for free to the Government.

    Hello,

i have issue's lately on my GT780DXR, i have fps issue's on a lot of game's, i play hon the most and i can get very frustrating fps drop at crucial moments.
i played GW2 but had huge fps drop a lot.
check the temperature a lot and it's at 79 in average while playing.

i tried installing latest nvidia drivers but made it worse so i reinstalled previous ones.

i just did a 3mark test to see but cant find anything wrong.

i think i'm going to install a SSD soon with fresh install on it but would like to know if i have anything more problematic first.

here's the page for result :

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2670QM Processor,Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. MS-1761

this is with p1 turned on.

What kind of details are you running at? You may just be expecting more than the graphics chip can give, you can get more out of the 570M with some clocking but otherwise it's simply not top flight hardware.

it says your Processor clock798 MHz
    is that normal?

    it should be at 2.2ghz

check the power settings , you may be at power save instead of normal or max perf.

    @WhatsThePoint

Yep I used the 2.1.39 driver ;) the latest at station-drivers. Untill now it has recognised 2 different USB 3.0 devices: my Sandisk Extreme and a 500GB HDD I have installed in an external USB 3.0 enclosure :)
I'll post the image index maybe this weekend once I free myself up a bit :p
Work's been killing me.. Also have to recover my 7970m from a wrong vbios flash (very careless of me I know..)

PS: I did a bios upgrade in my GT780DX to the 1761.10H should I flash the ME part too? I have it on version 7.0.4

    Cheers :)

I'm so pleased with my 64GB SanDisk Extreme Z80 USB 3.0 flash drive that I went and bought 2x16GB and 2x4GB.

I also bought a 32GB flash drive pictured below that plugs into my both Galaxy Note II and my PCs.

    Hey Rhada

I've got the stock Intel MEI on my notebook, version 7.0.4 don't know if I should upgrade to version 7.1.4 that comes with the latest 1761.10H bios.
It's difficult to extract it from the rom itself as it's encoded :\
To be honest I don't think it's a neccessary feature on commercial PCs as ours. It's used mostly for managing and interfacing with the PC (on a hardware level) remotely.

These double ended flash drives started showing up here in Seoul only a few days ago.

The one I got and pictured is aluminum and is branded as iRIVER,a company most noted for their MP3 players.

Another company has come to market with a plastic drive that's about 20% cheaper than the iRIVER.

The iRIVER are named as SMART G and these are SMART X.

    They're available in 4GB~32GB.

nice but do they work with the renesas usb 3 ?

when i plug a usb 2 key it works without fail when i install win 7 from it. but a usb 3 key will fail.

i was wondering if in the midst of all the trial and error devices, there was one usb 3 that didn't trigger this problem.

new drivers won't do much when you're trying to install windows 7 from a usb stick.

i was actually asking for that reason. if you've ever tried it you'll notice the usb flashdrive disappearing after having booted in the installer.

that is the problem. which we can workaround with a 2nd flashdrive containing the drivers unzipped but that is a pita if you forget the 2nd stick.

Talked to the RMA center, they ordered a new cooling system. It seems that got broken, might be due to the fact that I did a lot of gaming on it. Though the temp seemed to be fine to be honest. But that's all they said.

if anyone got the same issue, i finally fixed it.

with CPU-Z noticed that my cpu would go down to 780MHz in game even tough i'm on max performance.

the issue is intel SPEEDSTEP that i disabled in the bios, now games run smoothly. checked the temperatures, didnt go up really.

hopefully it wont damage my computer long term.

A motherboard can make a gpu go bad, so it may have been one causing the other.

Guys, black screen, fan going really fast, when i remove GPU, it is normal fan speed, but still black screen,(not black like black image, totally off screen black),i fear the worst?

It happend once more, but then touch buttons worked, and after messing around it turned out that one ram was faulty, but not now.
Got no warranty, lost the bill somewhere.
And one more thing, could it be adapter? because I use EU to US adapter plug, maybe it is not giving enough power to work, but it should work with battery :/
