Yeah you might be right. Right now, I do graphic intensive work, 3D modelling, and this thing takes it all. Thank man.

It should not have any problems, I have changed to Crucial to Samsung SSD's, on the other HDD bay I have changed from Western Digital to Toshiba to Samsung. All were 750gbs and currently have a WD Blue 1TB hdd on that bay.

Both of the internal 2.5" drive bays support SATA III 6GB/s so you can put hard drives or speedy SATA III SSDs in them of your choice.Sata II SSDs will also work well.

You can setup a raid0 array with 2 SSDs that are the same for some high 4K writes at QD1 and higher but a single 240GB SATA III SSD or larger is best for most owners.

You can get a Crucial M500 960GB SATA III SSD if you need the capacity or small size SSD depending on need and financial status.

The newly announced SanDisk Extreme II looks to be better then the original that I have.Reviews show it to have great performance consistency.

I have 2 SSDs internally and a 3rd inside a caddy in the optical drive bay.

I have no use for DVD or BD player/recorders anymore.

    --thanks for the quick replies....

    lets not include the brand...

from what i query is, was there any restriction in combination of HDD size..

example: a 500G HDD on one slot cannot be paired with another additional 1T HDD...
example: a 500G HDD is only limited by adding a 500G on another slot..

mine is a 500G msi gt780 laptop... im restraining/thinking myself in buying a 1T for the extra slot since i dont know if it is capable..

The drive in each bay is independent of the drive in the other internal bay unless a raid array is created using 2 of the same drives in the Intel Raid Utility after the bios is set to raid.

If you want to create raid0 array with your present 500GB hard drive then it's best to use another 500GB hard drive of the same make and model.

If you're not going to be creating a raid array then you can put almost any 2.5" hard drive or SSD in the empty bay.

The 1TB hard drives are 5400 rpm and very slow when used as a boot drive with an OS installed on it.

The 1TB 5400 hard drives are better used as storage drives.

Hello everyone! I t has been a while since I have been on here. Thankfully, I haven't had any major issues with my GT780R!
My screen bezel is coming loose/unglued on the left bottom side. The screw is still in it though. I had to take it out in some sprinkles the other day, so idk if a couple of drops got in between the bezel and the screen, loosing the adhesive? How do I get the bezel to restick to the screen? Any suggestions would be appreciated and welcomed!

Firstly the LCD bezel is secured to the upper half shell by the screws in the lower corners that are under the rubber covers that are stuck onto the screw heads.

After the 2 screws are removed the next task is to use a thin plastic knife or guitar pick to separate the bezel from the shell by working the tool around the sides and top in the groove between the bezel and case shell. The bezel is only snapped onto the shell.

The next thing you will encounter is 2 sided tape that is on the 4 sides of the metal edge of LCD panel so you'll need to gently tug on the bezel to free it from the tape.

Now the only thing remaining is freeing the bottom of the bezel from the shell. The bottom is snapped on just like the sides and top.

So a loose bezel would probably need new 2 sided tape to secure it to the panel frame and to line up the bezel to the shell so that all the snaps engage.

While the bezel is off you can remove the stuck on tape that covers the MIC holes on the rear top/middle of the bezel.

There's more information about this in Post #1 of this thread entitled "poor mic quality".

Hey WTP! I just tried Hybrid Power on x64 W8 Pro with no luck. I installed and ran as admin. I have a GT780R however, and I know your model is different. Also, are there any other MSi utilities that I should try to install?

BTW, in case anyone is interested someone made the LED's sync to volume I tested on my GT783 and it works great! MSI GT780DX - Hacked MSI Keyboard Led Manager - YouTube

EDIT: KLM version for the GT70 Dragon 2 also works, as does Super-Charger :D

EDIT 2: I'm not really positive how I would test Super-Charger, but my externals and all my USB devices are still working and I'm not getting any program crashes, so I guess thats a good sign? lol I don't have any devices to actually test the charging factor of the program.

yeah we need to retrofit those heatsinks on here, having additional heat pipes must help.

i'm just not impressed with the choice of fan, it seems just like the one i have in here.

hopefully getting the onboard gpu to work as opposed to the gtx card all the time will help to maintain the whole computer cooler too. too bad we can't just do it with a firmware eh?

    Hi Shadow, completely off topic.

Looking at your signature, I see you have a vengeance at 1866Mhz. Was wondering if the HM67 supports anything above 1600Mhz?

Before we heap too much praise on the new heatsink design I think it's best to wait and see a lot of reports from owners.

The heat generated inside the notebook still needs to be removed from the pipes/fins and that duty belongs to the fan.

I don't think temperatures will greatly improve unless the heat generated is greatly less.

The fan in my GT780DX has always been very quiet except when in turbo mode so I guess my motherboard sensor chip is a good one.

no issues for me, CPU ID reports all the proper latencies and its running 1866. I'm running 4 4GB sticks and with no errors reported with memtest 86, now I will say, I spent like 2 days having to test because they didnt want to work together in certain postions, so I was having to play musical ram for a while until I got them all in comfortable spots.

more here: NVIDIA is investigating the problems caused by its GeForce 320.18 WHQL | Tech News Pedia

i know a few of the guys here have had their vidcard replaced in the last 2 months, i wonder if this has anything to do with it.

question i'm wondering is, is this only the desktop drivers or for laptops as well ?

i'm just gonna go and rollback my drivers to 314 for now.

have you found anything relating to that problem in your research ? let us know

Guys stick with 314 drivers for now. 320 are still buggy and 326 drivers are mainly for Windows 8.1 (even though they work on Windows 7 but a bit unstable). I tried when I had my previous GT780DX ;)

but the 320.49 just came out today. the 320.18 are the ones that came out on may 23rd that caused this kerfuffle

    Agree!

I was getting a NVIDIA Graphics Driver crash and a few second freeze up with everything after 314

326.01 is working OK so far on Windows 7 x64 and Windows 8.1 Preview x64.

Anyone interested,Classic Shell has been updated to Version 3.6.8

It adds support for Windows 8.1 Preview and has a brand new Classic Shell logo.

The notebook's gpu never got changed (factory 570m). A friend of mine (who bought my previous GT780DX) reports the same. It happens everytime a software requires gpu hardware acceleration.
I can't test version 320.49 cause my gpu is not supported (Haswell GT60 with 780m). Also I don't have time to mod infs right now so I'll play the waiting game :p :)

hi guys i just OCd my gt780 with the 560m version and was wondering how much i could safely push it, i mean as in safe that i dont have risk of destroying my card.

UnOCd : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i5-2410M Processor,Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. MS-1761
OCd : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i5-2410M Processor,Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. MS-1761
OCd(2) : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i5-2410M Processor,Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. MS-1761

and if you look closely on my 2nd OC my cpu score was even lower than that of when i didn't OC my gpu, is this a voltage issue now? should i lower my OC values?

and also, does this in anyway affect my cpu temp? because i recently installed CPU temp gadget and it has a function to beep when it reaches 80C and i sometimes reach that point. googled answer but all are for pcs so i just bothered to ask here :D

hi man! im from manila too and before i suggest anything to you, i need to know first if your laptop is working before, i mean is it brand new or just suddenly became like that? in anycase, if that happened to me id test my individual hardware via software first (ram, gpu, cpu), i mean, if something your rig cannot handle stress and usually these are the three culprits. but i am not pro, its just what i would do first since checking if those three are working properly is step 1.
