The Realtek HD Audio driver is a keeper but it's too early to tell about the NVIDIA beta on Windows 7 in a GT780DX w/GTX570M

I put them on a Windows 8.1 RTM Pro x64 installation also.

Since my 580M burned out, what do you recommend for me to buy, money is not an issue, but i am looking for best price/performance, for gaming purposes

nvidia 675M is 200 pounds on ebay uk and that is basically the same card as 580M?

    It is an identical card.

Your two best options are the GTX770M or HD7970M, each of these will need the right heatsink. Should all be available on ebay.

Isn't it still covered by the 2 year warranty or is the notebook not an MSI branded model?

So I was having some issues in the past 3 days with Call of Duty:BO 2 I'm getting some weird lag I can't seem to fix but its only that game. Was working fine 4 days ago, anyway I decided to risk it and upgraded to the latest Video drivers 327.23 and everything seems ok except Nvidia OC tool won't work now, I push P1 it switches on then turns itself off. Weird issue.....

Edit: I got a newer version of the OC tool to see if it would work but still nothing....I rarely used it prior but I don't like when features don't work. lol

It isnt really a big deal, I dont have any OC software installed. Stock settings have been good as per why I rarely used P1 anyway. I'm just trying to diagnose an FPS drop issue with one of my games so I wanted to see how OC would effect it if at all.

    1 year global warranty

    2 years US domestic warranty.

No receipt is needed. The notebooks bar code is scanned at the service center to determine warranty status.

The notebook would be needed to go to the US for warranty service if you are over 1 year and under 2 years to get the repair.

The deal breaker may be that the shipping costs from and back to your location is paid for by you.

    Ok, so odd issue....

Every time I push my mouse 1 button(left main button if your right handed) and move my mouse my games lag REALLY bad. The lag is gone if I use a controller, or if I bind my gun fire to a button on the keyboard then mouse movement doesn't cause lag.

It is happening on 3 different USB mice, and I tried all 5 of my USB ports, it is also happening if I use mouse 1 on the track pad. It's almost like something is being hard binded to the button to cause this, I don't see any suspicious programs running, and none of my virus and security software is picking anything up. Really weird issue.....

EDIT: culprit was the latest version of my dock program "X Windows Dock v. 2.0.5.3" in case anyone else uses that. gonna contact the devs and hopefully help fix it. I've used the program for almost 2yrs with no issues.

Also getting problems with the P1 overclock tool, I've used both 327.23 and the latest 341.40 beta drivers. Not sure what the issue is, I uninstalled S-bar, Nvidia OC tool and MSI Afterburner, then reinstalled them all multiple times in different orders. Seems the new drivers have broken the overclock somehow :/
Going to switch back to 314.22 until there's a fix, hopefully it's with the latest drivers.

On an unrelated note, perhaps someone can remedy another slight problem I have.
Whenever I restart my laptop the clocks are set too high in MSI Afterburner. I did flash the VBIOS to these clocks about 6 months ago for overclocking with P1 but then switched to a lower clock setting as the higher clocks were giving me artifacts.
Problem is, any time I restart my machine the clocks are fixed at the higher clocks in Afterburner, even though the VBIOS has been flashed with the lower clocks.
It's not a major problem, I just have to remember to open up Afterburner and click reset before playing any games, otherwise I'll get artifacts immediately.
Anyone know why the clocks are set so high and not to the newer clocks which have been set as the default?

Thanks in advance for advice on either problem!

So, BF4 beta started today, and i think its a good time to resolve some issue i'm getting with my 780 DXR (16 GB RAM, GTX570M, i7-2670QM)

So, many people here were claiming to be able to play BF3 on /high/ultra with 60 FPS all around. A cap i never managed to achieve, even on low with resolution lower than the native those people claim they were using.
I'm using the P1 overclock with cooler boost and cooler pad (processor temp climb to the 80s degrees, 90 on the heavier moments. GPU in the 60-70s degrees. Celcius degrees.).
According to throttlestop the proc is running on a 27 multiplier (reaching around 2.7 GHz) and the GPU have a memory clock of 1500 and core clock of 575 (read from afterburner, tell me if i'm getting something wrong).

So, what am i doing wrong so that i can't run all the stuff on max? :/

    Basically this.

The 570M isn't a powerhouse, you might want to consider OC'ing to get slightly better results, otherwise yeah... it's average.

Problem is that i'm doing 40 on LOW when nothing is going on , dropping to under 30 when there's some action, with some maps (especially the ones with lots of elements - close quarters, endgame) being absolutely unplayable.

People manage to not overheat on BF4 with 780 and 783? I overheat constantly, only on BF4 though. My CPU temps are 87 - 99 most of the time, to the point where the CPU downclocks itself. I even changed the thermal paste.

My motherboard however was changed a while back, since when I had my warranty repair, they changed the GPU to 675M and my motherboard to the one that supports it.

Other games don't overheat the CPU, runs at 78 C max. Only BF3 runs it at 82 - 94 C, which I find it fine, never shuts down due to overheating on that.

Any advice on what I could do?

I'm currently using 2720QM ES and with a help from Throttlestop, I limited the multiplier to 22x when playing BF3.
Push the CPU temps significantly to 73-77C without coolerboost or a laptop cooler.
Without TS, my CPU manage to reach 94C (86C with coolerboost) same as you @It-yao

FYI I'm in SEA and in a very hot summer :)

I managed to solve the problem. The paste needed 24 hrs to simmer down. I also set the CPU usage to 90% max, now when playing BF4 the temps don't go above 79 C.

    Hello all!
I'm new to this forum so I hope that I'm posting this in the right place. I have question about my GT780DXR that may lead to more questions, but for now, can anybody tell me what clock speed the TDE takes the GPU up to and does it affect the CPU as well? Recently my TDE stopped working and I'm trying to use Afterburner as a work around until I can send it in to MSI (I need to use the laptop for school in the meantime so I can't have it serviced until December). I've been having some other issues with it as well but hopefully that will all get fixed when I can finally send it in at the end of the semester.

    GT780DXR
    i7-2670QM
    12GB DDR3
    GTX570M 3GB GDDR5

If you need more info just let me know.
    Thanks!

    Hello Everybody!

I have encountered really weird problem with my GT780DX-406US. I did a clean install of Windows 8.1, installed drivers, and everything worked good untill I installed SCM form msi site. As soon as I reboot after scm install my bluetooth module starts to live its own life, it is turning on and off repeatedly and also diode on the touch panel is doing this as well. In last 4 months I had Win 8, Win 7 and Ubuntu on my laptop and everything worked like a charm. Does anybody have an idea what might be happening?

Well I tried two of them:

    10.013.03016
    and
    10.013.06287
both on clean install and both failed

    Update:

Guess it could be fault of not compatibility of windows 8.1 with scm. Again I made clean install of windows, installed only scm 10.013.03016 and problem still appears.
It would be nice if somebody with 8.1 could say if I am wrong or right, or maybe someone knows which version of scm should I test.

I have the P1 problem too since driverupdate. Don't use it often but it's still strange.

I have a question: Does our laptop (GT780 with GTX570M) make use of Nvidia Optimus? GeForce GTX 570M | GeForce this link says it does

I can't find the option 2 in the following JPG http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yiZ0wjD8j...AABbU/q5FcieO_8cI/s1600/recap_2014_crash2.png

I never had problems with FPS on games I play after fix of the cooling paste i discussed half a year earlier on this forum (example: Hitman absolution & CS:GO) but in the War Thunder game I have massive massive FPS drops on low settings and high settings (doesnt differ that much strangely). The laptop is having a easy time with the game 200fps but drops often to 15 when it gets a bit difficult (as i said regardless of settings). SO i was thinking.. maybe the laptop just isnt strong enough. But then i was looking at temperatures and I noticed that the CPU goes to 80 but the GPU doesnt get much hotter then 55..

Question: What do you think? Does this laptop even have an onboard graphics card? Does the game use my GPU? HELP :p I gave my old 2008 desktop GPU to a friend and at his place the game is running 60fps constantly on good settings. I know mobile GPUs are weaker but I can run Hitman Absolution on good settings and my old GPU barely runs that game on low settings...

edit: i found out that gt780dx doesnt support Optimus. Soo.. i dont understand why aefoiagobnaoefa :p

    Hi wreelsw,

I just sent a PM to Meaker. I think he knows the answer.
Rhadamanthis bought one, and it seems the GTX770M working in his MSI.
Anyway we will find out in december because I'm going to buy one.
Yes, it seems you need a new heatsink like this.

PM answered :) Yes the 770M should work in all the 2nd gen machines and is a slower option than the 7970M but may be had for cheaper.

Other than on ebay, does anyone in this forum know of a place I can buy the MSI 770M and matching heatsink? I just want to make sure that I buy a card and heatsink that will work with my GT780DX. Don't want to buy this and find out I bought the wrong version of either part. Anyone with experience on this, please help.

    Thanks and God bless,

Thanks Meaker... After some research based on your comment, I see the 7970M is much faster and I see one on ebay but the seller is saying it's not plug-n-play for 2nd gen machines. He says I would need to flash vBios, which I'm not familiar with. I guess I would prefer not to have to flash the card. Looks like the 7970M is almost as fast as the GTX 680M. Is the 680M a plug-n-play option for the GT780DX?

Thanks Rhadamanthis, are you running windows 8 or windows 7? If Windows 8, did you have to use a modified inf driver and do an advanced restart to disable driver signing? Two more questions, do you have any benchmarks on the 770M since you've installed it and what temps are you getting with the card when gaming? Sorry for so many questions, I just like to make sure I know what I'm getting myself into before I purchase the card.

Thanks for all your help! God bless...

Looks like I don't need compound pads. I'll just use OCZ Freeze Extreme Performance Thermal Conductivity Compound.

Thanks everyone for your help! Should get the card no later than the end of next week. I'll let you all know the results.

    God bless,

    wreelsw

You want to use a good thermal paste on the core (IC diamond, MX-4 that sort of thing) and replace the stock thermal pad with 0.5mm ones to get the best performance.

'OCZ Freeze Extreme Performance Thermal Conductivity Compound' not good for enough for the core? Thanks for the info on the thermal pad, I'll order some now. Please reply about the compound.

    Thanks again Meaker!

Yeah, even the 16F3 only works with the 780M when you use one revision of the system bios, later and earlier ones crash but this one allows you to install standard drivers even.

OCZ freeze will work I don't know how it ranks compared to others, not one I have used, you could look up some reviews.
