Is it so? Maybe you mean that Clevo cards can be reflashed to MSI on GT780 while Dell's don't post there unless reflashed somewhere else? Because it seems it works.

Plus in the future you can jump at least to the 970M if you fell like it

Don't want to spend the money but if the card go's dead on me I will.
I take very good care of it, it still looks new after all these years and I use it everyday. -
Has anyone upgraded their GT780 to Windows 10? Any issues with drivers?
Thanks! -
Yes.. windows10 works fine, it had drivers i think for eveything. I like to go to the hardware site to download the latest from them, put on other hd or flash. Make sure you have network/wireless drivers before upgrading just in case.

So, I found a place where they got a 970m clevo model.
I am wondering if it can in made to work in this model.
Id also have to replace my wireless module since it went kaput.
I have no expirience on all this bios flashing stuff, and It would be about 600 bucks worth of cash.. Any idea on how to do it in a way that I wont void the warranty of the card if it does not work? (MXM 3.0b connector). -
600$ for 970M seems expensive.
-
In Poland most of this stuff is.
-
Ok, I found for under 200 dollars a 770m (used).
The seller (on Polish Ebay) claims the card is MSI CLEVO and Alienware compatible...
Is that even possible? I thought its either MSi/Clevo OR Alienware.
Says its from a 17 inch Alienware. -
-
Hmm,
Too risky I think.
I might just save up and grab another laptop when the pascal nVidias come out. -
So I have been scowering to find how to use the gtx980m in the gt780dxr... Ive seen people on this thread say it can be done very simply but have been unable to find out how exactly. Can someone link a how to writeup or at least some pictures and what is required? The 570m heatsink does not seem to line up with everything that is required to be cooled let alone being too small to fully cover the main chip on the 980m.
Thanks for your help guys, been at this almost a week now.ac007 likes this. -

Most people have done it with the 970M, so if you search for that you will get more hits. All the same steps will apply with heatsink etc.

this kind of gpu heatsink info is interesting and indeed hard to find on this forum
a solution would be to copy it in first post so it can be found easily by everyone. -
Good call, created a new thread

My stock 570m tossed in the towel. I found a clevo gtx765m off ebay. i have it installed in my gt780dxr, it boots to windows 10 desktop no problem. once there i get an error. No nvidia graphics chipset detected {from nvidia overclock tool}. I have tried to install a few different nvidia graphics drivers with no luck. the nvidia installer stops and says no graphics hardware found. i have used GPU-Z to identify the card,it shows it to be a GK106 Rev A1 GTX765M with bios version 80.06.51.00.31 device ID 10DE - 11E1. The memory size is making me scratch my head, it shows up as 2990MB. The default clock is 797 memory is 1002. I have tried to flash this card with a MSI Vbios i got from Techpowerup. I get an error msg of " GPU Mismatch". I have confirmed that the card is physically an gtx 765m card the numbers on the die are N14E-GE-B-A1. My friend came over to give me a hand with this problem last night. he understands hex better then i do. we used the nvflash to compare vbios. We could not get any 765m vbios to flash to this card. so we googled bios 80.06.51.00.31 this is what is loaded on this card. This is what we found.

It looks like i have a gtx765M with a GTX770M vbios on it. Could this be a mistake?
There is 2 possibilities that come to mind.
1- My motherboard bios does not recognize the video card properly { unlikely }
2- The person i bought this card from tried to flash this card with a gtx770m Vbios to unlock some more features. {more likely}.
I looked around for some modified display drivers to see if windows would detect this card with no luck. There's a website called www.laptopvideo2go.com,it used to have modified drivers but i didn't have any luck finding any. I have done a bunch of reading to see if i can figure this out on my own, without any luck. Any help i can get with this would be great. thank you in advance! -
Hello guys, so it happened gtx570m died and i need some help. Right now i have clevo 8970m with vbios BR446618.001 so looks like its non enduro, but it wont boot. Also keyboard is dead so im using external USB one. I read some threads and stuff and looks like I need Xonar's unlocked BIOS and PCI set to Legacy too boot with this card. Problem is that I cant flash new BIOS. I tried too rescue flash with USB drive formatted to FAT32 and putting into it AMIBOOT.ROM which I modfied to Legacy settings with AMIBCP but neither CTRL+HOME nor waiting 5 mins helps. Any ideas guys?
-
Hmmm, maybe you try to flash video card elsewhere to 7970M?
-
Well looks like video card is not problem itself because vbios is non-Enduro, but mobo BIOS which should be set from EFI Compatible to Legacy to run 8970m. I can't enter BIOS to change settings so only option is to flash BIOS which PCI ROM PRIORITY is set from EFI to Legacy.
-
I wouldn't mess with BIOS settings like this. MSI GT780 didn't come with UEFI, it's pure BIOS so perhaps what you read is not needed here? Anyway, just know that before flashing BIOS you need to make a backup with afuwin. Then you can try to flash it with default flashing procedure for this laptop. Do you have another card or old card work at all? You can't do anything without working dedicated GPU.
-
NVM blind flashed BIOS with other technique and got working Clevo 8970m in my lappy. I had to blindy spam F11 after boot and then 2 times arrow down, enter then flashing command and done it works.

Hello everyone! may I ask for your help, I bought a MSI GT780 from here in the Philippines having a defect of video card "he said". The problem is It has a blank screen when i turn on just the light of the power and fan goes on, is it possible that the video card is already dead? can I revive my GPU using the baking method? else not, is Nvidia Quadro Fx 2800m compatible with our laptop? Thanks in advance for your fast reply!

Hm... Is there any chance to make 8970m/m290x 2GB taken from MSI GX60 work in the MSI gt780? As far as I know there could be a problem with vbios, anyone know where can I find non enduro one for this model? At techpowerup I found 3 vBioses MSI branded for 2GB version but there is no information about enduro, besides I am pretty sure that those are enduro
Anyone implemented this GPU from GX60/70 to our GT780? -
-
I know tha can work: 560M, 570M, 580M, 765M, 770M, 970M, 980M, 7970M, 8970M (non-enduro+BIOS modding needed), M6000. Clevo or MSI vBIOS needed, not Dell.
Clevo 7970M will work, MSI... don't recall. -
-
That Quadro is based on the Geforce 9800M GT / G92 core and is several generations older than 5.xx series. So with 99.99% probability it doesn't work.

(sarcasm)

but what do you think sir? its only $22 in ebay? Quadro FX 2800m is also MXM 3.0b, its compatible right?
oh my it wouldnt workno luck at all. so maybe AMD Fire Pro 6000 will work for my MSI Gt780 right?
also can i ask is Amd fire pro 6000 is really compatible with GT780? sorry for many questionsi just dont want to spend big that will not work.

So my laptop finally died (GT780DXR). Was playing a game today and it just shut off. Try to power it back up and nothing. Light flashed one, then blinked 3-4 times and then nothing since. Ive tried everything I know to do, pull out the battery, clear the cmos, ect... From a quick google search, it appears most likely the 570m has crapped out? Can someone point me in the direction into further troubleshooting to make sure and where I can purchase a new chip and how to replace it? Also, one more question, if I were to buy another gaming laptop for under 1500 US, what and where would you buy?
Thanks folks, I appreciate any help you can give me. -

If I had spare 1500$ for a gaming laptop I would wait from 4 up to 6 months. You would buy slim gaming notebook for that price easily.
