    Hi Guys

Just some feedback. Got a 765m for about $100 (US), which is a pretty good deal. All working 100%. Just need a custom bios now, as this thing throttles like crazy.

Hi, I just got a GT780DX and installed Windows 10 on it. I noticed that the MSI website for this model only has drivers for Windows 7/8.1. Can someone please advise me on which drivers I need?

I have noticed that Windows 10 handles nearly all of the driver updates and I run Windows update first thing right after installing.

I had to add a driver for the card reader and I removed the Realtek HD Audio provided by Windows 10 and installed the one from MSI. I had issues with low sound when listening through headphones and this seems to help when I use extra setting in the Realtek control panel.

I just let Windows 10 install the Nvidia driver from its catalog, but was thinking of doing a run of Driver Cleaner and installing the official Nvidia mobile drivers for the 570M. Any advice for this?

Also, I installed the SCM utility, but I am not sure if I even need it - it also causes my Bluetooth to have issues with turning on and off constantly every 4-5 seconds (other people have reported this issue). Installing the MSI Bluetooth drivers helped/fixed it, but I can't see the advantages of having SCM other than to turn off the screen/eject the cd drive. I have not yet figured out how to properly use the P1 button to overclock/overdrive the system or to understand how it would work in conjunction with Windows 10.

I did install the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver from the MSI site, but again, am I supposed to download the latest directly from Intel given that the MSI one is many years older?

Any help for an MSI newb would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

James, I have a msi 1761 with a dead 570m and a desperate urge to game and have bring my laptop back to life.
Will this gpu work on it out of the box or do i need to buy an specific brand or flash different vbios on it? I am sort of a newbie girl on modding, but if you are up to assist me, i´d be very happy to try.

    Thanks.

i saw this benchmark a couple of weeks ago : http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/11153376 and got my hopes up for this nvidia gtx 765m working on my GT780.

Did it work out of the box? I mean, does the laptop boots? I´m asking because my gtx 570m is dead, so the laptop doesnt even boot, making it impossible to flash any bios into it.

Whats the brand of the gpu?

    Thanks.

Hello, James, correct me if I´m wrong, if I buy any of the gpu´s from the list above branded Dell, then I don ´t need to flash vbios? Or is it the other way around?

So.... I finally decided. I`ll try out that m6000. I`ll be buying it as soon as possible. I hope it will work out just fine.

    One last question: heatsink mod?

At the end of December I will be able to test 2nd M6000 with yellow VRMs so you can wait till then to lessen risks if you want.
As about heatsink mod, I remember posting a photo with info about it before. As well as told about .5mm thermal pads and requirement of very cautious screwing heatsink to not destroy 1 corner.

    Hi,

I've got GT780dx ( burned 570M). I just replaced card, whit gtx675m.(AFAIK it should be the same thing as 580M)
Now, I know some people made it working and its showing GT783 in their BIOS.
I get laptop restarting after I plug AC charger , sudenly, no bsod, screen goes blank and restart

I know the problem comes from video card, becouse after i delete the driver the problem goes away.
    it's a dell GTX 675M

    I have tried:
    MSI GTX675M vBios
    Clevo GTX675M vBios
    Dell GTX675M vBios
Lowering down GPU clock, but memory clock I cannot.

Now I try whit a moded driver
    MSI GTX580M vBios

    I also bought a new charger whit 11A .

    Please help me.

GTX580m vbios did not work, I runned an IBT on CPU to see, but it is ok max 75c
    [IMG]

Should I try gtx 570m vbios?
edit// I tryed gtx570m vbios, same things, and now i got an restart on battery.

there are 2 posibilities left, i think Broken new video card, bought from a ++ member from ebay or Windows not compatible whit any of my video drivers.

We have MSI GT783R-658 for almost 5 years now and it worked fine for all these years. Most recently it started to crash while playing games and we suspected the overheat problem due to old thermal paste. So last night we cleaned and reapplied thermal paste for both the CPU and GPU (Nvidia GTX 580M). Unfortunately that didn't fix the issue.

We can confirm the issue is GPU related; downloaded a stress test tool (AIDA64 Engineer) and with the CPU based tests there are no issues. But as soon as we run the GPU test it is crashing. The laptop reboots and restarts.

What other issues could there be? Again new thermal paste was installed. The heatsink and fan are cleaned.

The systems runs Windows 10 and the latest Nvidia drivers (downloaded from Nvidia). Until recently we had no problems and still running Win7. When the issues started we decided to re-install the OS and start with a fresh system to rule out any Windows issues. Any driver issues?

    Many thanks,
    Dombas

Clear sign of GPU failure. It's MXM GPU so you can buy another one and if you need Nvidia then 765m/770m/970m (570m-675m not recommended) preferably Clevo cards or few AMD cards. Are you from USA? eBay is your choice then or forum marketplace.

Hi James. Did you test this 2nd M6000? Did it work?

I had purchased it at that link you shared, but it turned out to be out of stock. So, I got the refund. I`ll be still looking for alternatives then.

The first thing is to try another driver - the latest WHQL is 378.49 which might work better than your beta developer driver.

I got second M6000 GPU with yellow components and it has same part number and same vBIOS as my previous. So it's safe to say that if you buy Dell M6000 it gonna work perfect. I still have'nt put second GPU in notebook yet though.

With 675m I would use good old 337.81/337.88 because new nvidia drivers are so bad that can fry GPU.

thanks everyone for the help but im stuck now on installing the 337.88 drivers on win 10.

These are the steps which i did.
    1. DL 337.88 from laptopvideo2go
    2. Extract using 7 zip and run setup (let it fail once)
    3. Check Laptop inf (MSI=nvmii) and edit 675m lines from my extraction (not the installer extraction)
    3.1 3 instances changed (for 6.0 6.1 and 6.2)
    4. Paste modded inf to installer extraction.
    5. Run and error now = Required files are missing
    6. Created 6.10 for windows 10 line and added 6.3 675m line to it. Still error.
    7. Help! T_T
    8. Sorry im noob got it working now. The parent inf nv_disp was changed that's why it was always missing! :3

Looks like your GPU is fried out, sorry. Whether it is due to high temperatures or latest driver killed it is unknown. Few people posted that latest Nvidia driver did fry their GPU but it's almost impossible to make Nvidia to ancknowledge their fault.
Looks like GPU upgrade is te only option in this case.

What I've seen, regrettably 670/675M's are/were pretty prone to dying, much more frequently than 680M's. 7x0/8x0/(9x0M with upgraded BIOS) do work as replacement.

From everything I have read a GTX 770M will drop right into the GT780 DXR and you will just need to use some thermal pads to fill some spots on the original heatsink of the 570/580M

I am trying to find out if anyone can tell me whether the MS-1761 modified bios available at tech inferno will allow the GT780 DXR to run DDR3 1600 natively since the unit comes with i7 2630QM and default memory is 1333. Can anyone shed some light

Hoping you can assist. My buddy has a GT780 DXR, we are planning to flash the bios with the MS-1761 modified bios from tech inferno which unlocks the overclocking features in bios. I plan to increase his ram to 16GB initially with some corsair DDR3 1600. We will be installing 2 new SSD in raid 0. Last is to upgrade the 570M to an MSI GTX 770M 3GB, he will run windows 10, now since the card we have access to is an actuall MSI pulled from a MS-1762 there should be no vbios mod required correct it should just be a simple plug and play with thermal pads required to be refit using the stock 570M heatsink. Does this sound correct?

I installed it today. Laptop booted with MSI logo so it's second in a row which works. I turned it off after that because I had no heatsink attached to it. Where are you from? Maybe I will be able to send you one.
BIOS of GT780 doesn't give you much for overclocking. It lets overclock RAM. Also CPU multiplier if you have proper CPU like 2920xm. FSB Ocing works with Intel XTU and gives 4%.
SSD might not work well in hdd slot to the left of GPU, few people noticed that but you may be lucky.

Im about to drop a 770m inot a gt780dxr also. got a used one for $200 shipped. Let me know if you figure out the memory thing, id like to put some faster ram in one day and 1600 would be nice. Glad to see im not the only one reviving this ancient thing lol. Perfect portable work laptop. Can actually do design on it, and play games at night when the work is done

Haha too funny I think you bought the 770m on ebay that I was suppose to grab for my buddy but he can't make his mind up, the one that was $199 , green pcb 3GB. To update the ram you need to flash the bios and it is over at tech inferno where you need to join and post 5 times before you can download. It is MS-1781 it unlocks a bunch of bios features or send me a pm with your email I can pass you on and link you

Just buy Samsung RAM which will let you overclock itself up to +550MHz in unlocked BIOS (1333>>1600 or 1866, 1600>>2133). No need for unlocked BIOS for faster than 1333 RAM.
Also XTU adds up to 4%+.

Ahh bummer for him! Yeah i went to buy a 770m last summer, this gt780 has been dead(not dead just green dots everywhere and restarts under any graphic load higher then a YT video) for 2 years lol, But there weren't any on ebay. Was about to buy a 980m and just goes balls out but figured that would be a waste and then my cpu would be a bottleneck i think. so i checked 770m as i remembered it was the easiest of them all to drop in as i didnt have to mod the heatsink lol, and there she was, to good a deal to pass up.Ill look into the bois thing, i do like having extra features.

U say u need unlocked bios to go +550 w Samsung ram, happen to know which particular markings, harder to find vs just buying some decent 1600 which will usually hit 1866.

At end u say no need for unlocked bios to go 1333+? Makes no sense

What makes no sense is this line:
Because just buy any 1600+ RAM and it will work at it's speed without modified BIOS update. As to Samsung, any 1.35V RAM will be overclocked 2 JEDEC steps up at 1.5V. It's just GT780 where I don't recall possibility of changing timings from built-in RAM so therefore 1333 Cl9 >> 1866 Cl9 seems extreme. Cl10+ would fit.

I found a gtx860m 2GB, I'm going to need one (vbios), in case if it was already a msi notebook, it will be necessary, it's this part that I do not understand

vbio's (Video Bio's) is no different the bio's chip on you mother board. If the vcard was in a Dell laptop, then the vbio's able to talk with the dell and every works well together. If you put a MSI vcard in a Dell, they can't talk(work together).
Thats why you have to put the Dell card in a dell and flash it with a MSI vbio's.
My understanding is an MSI vbio's card should work in a MSI, I'm not a 100% if it works that way but I think I've read that the MSI/Clevo GTX 970/980 cards are plug and play, just small mod to heatsink. Hope that helps.

    1. I heard about incompatibilies when using MSI vBIOS of integrated GPU from GE mdel and with Optimus in a GT783 (or even GT70). SO people use Clevo vBIOS.
    2. For flashing BIOS you better have CH341A programmer with clips at home which lets you reflash vBIOS on the GPU without even putting it in the laptop. That will work in scenarious of GT780 when laptop doesn't turn on to OS without proper GPU with proper vBIOS.

If you buy clips like this you won't have to remove chip from the board. Just remember that there is a slight chance of DOA/defected product when you buy cheap tech from China.

It recognized BIOS chip of 765M alright. GigaDevice 25Q20BT. I don't know if next gen GPU still has supported BIOS chip but it's likely.
However not every GPU can work in GT780 even with proper vBIOS. For example you can't make 670MX, 675MX and 680M to work in it, that's why it was a surprise that Kepler 765M and 770M worked fine. So you should understand that it's a high chance you won't make it work unless you googled and found a successful case. You can try ask on www.nhl.pl by the way, experienced MSI owners post info there.

Thank you, I was looking but it may not work because the hestsink has 3 memory locations on the side and the other, while the 860m has 4 memories on the side and the others on the bottom
