Note the 15k score for a 6970m is overvolted and tweaked out the ying-yang. Its the upper limit reached after months and months of tweaking and testing.
The 570m's drivers still do not hold official support, and no one is overvolting. Pretty much stock and moving a slider.
Optimized release drivers alone will boost these scores by 10-20%.
Hows that crow tasting Meaker?

Thanks...... good job, and a big help! Don't forget, for convenience sake, you can edit that 1st post with helpful links and info.

If you are familiar with GPUz software you should know it'll always show PhysX is checked.
PhysX was disabled through 3DMark Vantage > Options > Test Options > Disable PPU.
Try run the test on your own and you will get the same result.
Again, peace please and no attacking on the forum, if you have anything to say to me you are always welcome to send me PM or give me a call, just don't trash this very informative thread.

The 6970M can't even overvolt. And from the looks of it, the 6970M will still be a bit faster than the 570M even if the 570M had true drivers. I thought the 570M would be a bit faster than I anticipated, but it could be due to the memory bus. I thought it was going to be a 256bit wide bus like the 485M and the 580M, but it looks to be cut down to 192.
Could anyone with a DXR system take a picture of the actual card/MXM module? I'm curious as to how it looks like. -
You are going to have to wait, the DXR with the 570M still has not been released. But it should be standard.

Actually some GT683DXR units were available through NewEgg, but they have already sold out. I think ichime is hoping to get a pic from one of these buyers, or perhaps from Ken.

Hi all,
I'm also having keyboard issues, space bar and f key requiring multiple taps to respond. Please advise, how one should go about either replacing or fixing the keyboard issues. Thnx -
send me PM with your order number and I'll be able to help you.
-
Hi Ken,
Sorry for the ignorance but what is PM? Also, I got the computer from J&R, I hope you can still help me. Thanks -
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
A PM is a 'Private Message', but you haven't made enough post yet to activate this feature to your account. I think the minimum is 5 post. Just email him!
Good luck!
-
they had the best price, no taxes, and free shipping at the , time. You are correct, the have already asked me to contact MSI directly. Would you all stll help me even though I made the mistake of purchasing from the wrong retailer? Please.
-
I will be leaving for overseas in a couple of days. I'm hoping if I cant solve this issue in the next couple of days, that i can still solve it while I'm overseas
-
They should have technical support and repair service for the gt780r in Taiwan I assume.
-
One thing... there are how much difference between the hd6690m and the gtx570m?
Thanks. -
Looks like they are back in stock.
-
I can help you, just send me email.
-
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
Cool! Are you getting yourself one?
-
I thought it would be easy to wait for my pre-ordered GT780DXR. Just a couple of weeks. Heck.... anyone can do that... right?
Well I have to say it is like waiting for Santa in August!
At least my Everki Lunar case will be delivered tomorrow so I will have something to take my mind off of it for say 10 minutes. -
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
Yeah, it won't be long now.
A VERY nice choice in a notebook case! I got the Everki Beacon..... it's a perfect fit for the GT780 too!
Enjoy!
-
I am very impatient to read the first review of the GT780DXR, if we have a good feed back about the keyboard and the screen quality I will buy it a month after the first deliveries so I can read if people are happy about this laptop.
-
I went with GT683DX. I plan on being pretty mobile so I decided the 15 inch screen was better for me. I wish it had the steelseries keyboard, but someone in another post said they liked the non steelseries keyboard better. Almost all of the other specs were comparable. Plus I'll have my comp within a week and I won't have to wait for the 17inch to ship.

Very Nice! Enjoy that GTX 570M!
-
Did anyone confirm if MSI was going to sell the GPU's for an upgrade?
-
The Beacon had my eye for awhile but I knew I would be too tempted to pack the xbox.... netbook..... full cocktail bar... change of clothing.
That thing looks like it can hold everything but the kitchen sink! -
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
LOL! NICE! The cocktail bar was in mind!
I can understand the case you chose too! Stylish, elegant, and very professional looking. Very nice indeed!
-
Same question I have on my mind.

Rob of RKComputers posted on this. I think he projected late September, but you may want to shoot him a line.
-
Unfortunately not, the 570M will only comes with notebook.
Got your email and I'll help you get the new keyboard.

I recently got the GT780 with one HDD and I bought another identical one but I can't get it to offer a RAID option. I'm guessing that I have to flash the BIOS with the RAID version?
The Intel Rapid disk thingy doesn't want to know about it. Is there a Windows driver for it?
Thanks.
Daryl. -
You need the 308 bios for raid.
Once you install windows on the raid volume you will be able to install Intel Rapid Disk. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
How different is the heatsink? Is the contact pad wider? Is it constructed differently?
-
Ken , on gentechpc.com it says the DXR is equipped with SATA II but on official MSI site it says SATA , is that some sort typo?
-
Thanks, I have installed the firmware with RAID.
However the Intel Rapid Disk won't allow me to create the RAID and if I set the RAID in BIOS Windows blue screens.
So the only way for me is to reinstall Windows to the RAID device created from BIOS or perhaps ghost the boot partition and then ghost it back to the RAID 0 volume.
There is a registry change related to iastorV which enabled Windows to boot as RAID instead of AHCI but it didn't really help anything so I changed it back -
lol both are typo.
DXR have the intel series 6 chipset which all have two SATA 3 ports -
Did anybody know what causes the horizontal lines? I can see them too but I thought it was caused by "Cinema Pro".
-
Could it be a driver issue, in regards to the horizontal lines?
-
SATA depends what type of hard drive it comes with, the Seagate / Western Digital drives they use is SATA II, but if you can upgrade to SATA III SSD if you want.
But the drives equipped are SATA II. -
Yes it is not a typo when the web site is telling you what the machine is equipped with not what it is capable of handling. Big difference there honestly.
If they state Sata 3, people will assume the machine comes with Sata 3 drives, this way they are getting what they paid for and nothing more or nothing less. -
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
Yes, but to be clear, the GT780R/DXR chipset does 'support' SATA III drives..... it's just presently 'equipped' with SATA II.
-
But the thing is even tough the chiptset supports SATA 3 , you wont be able to get the performance of SATA 3 as The default HDDS installed are SATA 2
-
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
You want SATA III performance? It's supported, so all you have to do is upgrade to a SATA III drive. (mostly SSD's presently) Thank goodness for the SATA III option, but unfortunately if you want to play, you have to pay.
-
Yes but that is mainly down to the fact that Sata 3 mechanical drives are not even remotely common or cost effective for the manufacture to put in the machine while keeping the price reasonable.
Most Sata 3 drives are SSDs with only 1 or 2 Mechanical drives even being offered as of this moment( they are $180 a piece) and standard SSD options are not realistic either because of price and storage capacity.
The average consumer i believe still would rather have 2x500gb drives then say 1x64gb SSD and 1x500gb Mech drive.
This is why the resellers offer lots of customization so if you want that speed you will have to pay for it

Sorry but just a question, will plugging in 4 sticks of Ram be faster than 2 sticks of Ram? as in will 2 dual channel be twice as fast as 1 dual channel?
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
As long as you have pairs, they will work in Dual Channel mode. So it doesn't matter if it is 2 or 4 pieces.
However Dual Channel mode will generally only give you around a 5 to 7% boost for most applications. -
Thank you so much for the reply paladin44. So according to you having 4 sticks of RAM only doubles the amount of memory compared to 2 sticks of RAM but doesn't contribute to the speed of the machine, am I right?
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
2 pieces or 4 pieces will make no difference. However you are not stating whether you are talking about 2GB or 4GB pieces. Up to a point, more memory is better. However it will depend on what applications you are running whether you will benefit from more than 4GB.
-
Ah I was thinking of buying GT780DX in december just not sure whether to max out RAM to 16 Gb or not. I guess 8 Gb is enough. Thanks for the help!
-
8 gigs is plenty for 99% of everything out there.
Heck 4 gigs is still enough honestly but getting closer to the tipping point.
Since RAM has become so cheap though and having 4 RAM slots to work with its hard not to want more, but if you dont need it then spend it on something FAR more useful like an SSD. -
Thank you. The case was delivered today. It is very nice.
Though not large enough like your bag for the cocktail bar..... it has soon very nice pockets for a flask or two.
-
Lol~ I'm currently on 1.5 Gb of RAM on Vista... argh life if so hard lol
