Can you check yours and see what path it's associated to?

I just opened it up to check the path and it is blank, I am not sure where the setting actually is. Have you tried to uninstall the s-bar and nvidia oc and then reinstall them? Install the s-bar first.

Anyone using the Intel Ultimate N 6300 card with the gt780? Just wondering how your experiences with it were so far. Thanks! =)

Just did that and played a LoL, same result - http://i.imgur.com/F5eYN.png

P1 button still just pops up the s-bar thing asking what to do. I wonder what I'm missing.

I have the Killer Wireless 1103 and it's excellent. Faster connection speed that my old laptop by around double usually. Worth the upgrade price (I got mine from GenTech)!

That's good that your killer is working great! That and the N 6300 look to be the top competitors right now. The reason why I ask about the 6300 is because my friend is willing to sell me a slightly used one for $30. I honestly don't have a problem with the 120n that comes stock, and I usually have the ethernet hooked up. However, I might as well upgrade if I can get one at that price!

Thanks! I saw them on ebay for $25 right now, but it's shipped from overseas =/. I think I'll end up buying it from my friend. He's even going to include the extra antenna, so I think I'll be good. Any suggestions on routers? I've looked at reviews and the networking NBR section, but I like to hear from actual consumers =). Right now I'm using a Linksys WRT120N, which claims to support wireless n, but I'm thinking more of getting a linksys e4200 or even airport extreme.

Anyone having issues getting the webcam to work? It's just not showing up in Skype at all. I installed the easyface thing, but since I don't have a password to sign in to my computer, it will not let me log into easyface (blank passwords not allowed it says).

Is there any other webcam software I can use, or do I need some separate driver?

ETA: I put a windows password on just to satisfy easyface, and when I load it says "Webcam not found or error!"

The webcam uses the native WIN 7 webcam driver. It's turned off by default. You did turn it on, didn't you? Press and hold the Fn button, and then press the F6 button. Also, there is a piece of clear protective film over this and the mic that needs to be removed.

Just curious, but which model GT780 do you have? You aren't trying this on a 1761 are you?

If not, uninstall AfterBurner..... uninstall MSI nVidia VGA OC Tool..... uninstall S-Bar...... reboot.

    1.) Install S-Bar from HERE.
2.) Install MSI nVidia VGA Tool from HERE. Then test the P1 function, and on screen you should now see the Turbo TDE engine activate.
    3.) Install MSI AfterBurner

    :)

That was it, and wow do I feel dumb. I remember I did this once before and enabled it, is it something you have to re enable whenever you want to use it, inasmuch as it turns off when you shut the computer down?

Hey, don't feel bad..... it bugs me that MSI didn't install a webcam 'On' indicator light. I think it will remain on until you turn it off. Give a quick reboot, and confirm this.

    Thanks

I actually do have the 1761 (this: GenTech PC - MSI MS-1761 (GT780DXR Barebone) Gaming Notebook, which I understood to just be the non-branded version of the GT780DXR. Is it not supported on the 1761?

    Here's what I did.
    1 - Uninstalled everything
    2 - Reboot
    3 - Install S-Bar
    4 - Reboot
5 - Install MSI Nvidia Overclock tool
6 - Reboot (S-bar starts and MSI overclock tool is in my tray)
7 - Pressing P1 still just takes me to the "Please set up the program to be opened"

I honestly only got the 1761 because it was significantly cheaper and I wouldn't have to pay for the ricey keyboard I was just going to turn off and never use. If there are software incompatibilities with it, then I hope GenTech has a reasonable return policy!

I had the same problem for a couple of days and almost asked for help on here myself. Don't feel bad :)

*side note: at first I thought I didn't like the matte screen, but after playing a few HD games and movies, I find I like it much better than the HD super glossy that my Qosmio had :) *

This is why you are having problems. The S-Bar & MSI nVidia VGA OC Tool is proprietary software for 'branded' MSI notebooks only, and are not firmware supported for use in the unbranded barebones 1761 model. See HERE! Other advantages for branded models are the brushed aluminum chassis, SteelSeries backlit keyboard, and a full 2 year MSI warranty (3 years for U.S. customers).

I don't really mind s-bar and MSI nvidia overclock tool not working, but I really need to figure out what is keeping my core speed from going over 525 and my shaders from going over 1050. GPU-Z confirms that my settings are applied, but when I actually play a game or a benchmark, it's never exceeding 525/1050.

Check out this screenshot where I've highlighted the numbers in orange: http://i.imgur.com/RILMU.jpg

Certainly they didn't firmware limit the maximum core & shader clocks on the barebones version did they?!

I doubt it. Have you removed S-Bar & the nvidia OC Tool? Run AfterBurner without the nVidia OC Tool installed, and try again.

Like Striker said, You need to uninstall NV OC tool. it happen the same with MSI brand GT780DXR as well, if NV OC tool is installed then the afterburner won't work unless P1 Turbo button is turned on.

Since P1 turbo won't work on your barebone version then you must uninstall it in order to overclock using Afterburner.

I uninstalled the s-bar and overclock tool as soon as striker mentioned they're not supported on my laptop. In fact, i had already uninstalled and rebooted when I took the screenshot that I posted earlier. I'm still stuck at 525/1050.

    Any ideas?

The 570M is not presently supported in NVIDIA's Verde driver program.... It's New! Most modded drivers merely add your card's HW ID to current driver releases (.inf) so that they will install. Personally, I am using MSI's stock release driver until the 570M is officially supported..... which will be soon!

Ken may have other ideas of course..... nonetheless, your 570M should be the same as ours.

Here's a screenshot running the drivers from MSI's site, no s-bar, no nvidia overclock tool: http://i.imgur.com/OrKfw.jpg

This has been the most miserable 1st PC day I've ever had. You should be excited and happy when getting a brand new PC! This was a very expensive laptop and the 5 hours I've spent screwing with this issue more than made up for the few hundred dollars I saved by getting the barebones. What a pain!

Also, since I ordered an upgraded proc, ram, wifi card, and a blu-ray burner, I believe that makes my order "custom" and subject to a $350 or so restocking fee if I return it to GenTech. Ugh.

Already did. See above screenshot (the post above yours).

I've had enough frustration for one evening and it's nearly 4AM here on the east coast. I'm going to bed but I'll check this thread out in the morning. If anyone has the 1761, check and see if you can ACTUALLY overclock yours (it shows up in kombuster or another benchmark that shows core clock speed) or if you're just assuming it worked because the numbers showed up right in GPU-Z.

Don't know whats going on there, but Ken will fix you up..... not to worry!

If the BIOS and or VGA BIOS/Firmware are different then conceivably the barebones might have locked maximum core and shader clockspeed. If this is the case, you should DEFINITELY list it on your site somewhere (and in the FAQ on the first page of this thread) because I definitely wouldn't have bought this laptop if I knew I wouldn't be able to overclock the video cards!

Like I said I'll setup a barebone unit and test this weekend, if it turn out it can't be overclock I'll give you full refund. We didn't expected the barebone version of GTX570M would be different.

If it's 4AM your time I suggest go get some rest and forget about OC for now, wait for my test tomorrow because I won't be able to answer your question tonight since it's 1AM here in California and I don't have a barebone unit sitting next to me.

If you are using MSI Afterburner it will not overclock a stock MS-1761 Barebone. You will need to use another tool to overclock the VGA card.

There is nothing locked in the 1761 barebones, it overclocks just fine. Using nVIDIA Inspector we get over 13,000 in 3DMark Vantage.

Also the S Bar is needed on the barebone for it's features to function properly.

So to summarize, for barebones 1761 folks, S-Bar software = Yes, P1 TDE support = No, MSI nVidia VGA OC Tool = No, AfterBurner = No, OC with nVidia Inspector = Yes!

I use nvidia inspector, and I really like it! I typically just use that instead of the P1 button because TDE will just randomly turn off if I use it anyways.

Just received the laptop for the service center!

Horizontal lines are still there, even though I showed the engineer the lines before service.

Keyboard still misses some keystrokes and it feels kind of heavy.

Touchpad works great, I will test it for a couple of days and see what happens.

None of the parts were changed...

I'll contact MSI and see what we can do, As I am not ready to give this laptop away for 1-2 Weeks again.

Stock barebone notebooks do not have the same features, specifications, options as the MSI branded notebook products. Nvidia inspector will do the same as afterburner, with the stock MS-1761 notebook model the VGA card is by default in the P1 power state in this model and Afterburner cannot access the card in this state to overclock it. Nvidia inspector can access the card in this state and make changes. With inspector you can also change the power states of the vga card (P1, P0, P4, etc) which you cannot do with afterburner. The default VGA clocks in the stock MS-1761 notebook are 525/1050.

On our MS-1761 notebook model we have changed the default VGA clocks to 575/1150 and the VGA can be overclocked with MSI Afterburner software.

    Benchmarks for your reference below:::

I´m looking forward to buy the MSI GT780DXR-095US, got 2 questions.
Witch Ram should i get to boost it up to 16gb?? Corsair - 4GB 1.3GHz DDR3 SoDIMM Laptop Memory - CMSO4GX3M1A1333C9 or Samsung - 4GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM SoDIMM Laptop Memory - MV-3T4G4 , would be the same??
And getting an SSD drive, should be a important improve? I will use it mostly for design so i will install in that drive OS and adobe package + others. Saw in this topic that this one was a good choice Intel® - 510 Series 120GB Internal Serial ATA III Solid State Drive - Silver - SSDSC2MH120A2K5
