I am still afraid to use this tool. Does it like OC the GPU and then flash the Bios with it ?

Hi, I've try 740/950/1480 but I've a lot of artefacts in 3DMark11. Do you have artefacts too ? Do you have mod the voltage ?

Just a question.... I am now messing with color management and other options in Nvidia drivers, but they do not work. Only Digital Vibrance, which when raised to 65% gives quite better realistic colors. Although, i am not sure if thats what i am supposed to do.

To specify further, i dont think the colors are "natural" at all. Its like if they would be dimmed or what. Think it happened after messing with the .INF file and the modded BF3 drivers. I am not going to uninstall them, though, because in Black ops i get 91 FPS with Extra/FHD/60hz/4xAA/16AF..which is super impressive / using OC 676/1352/1686.....

Still the game look plain. Its like if every color would have a white layer with opacity ~50% on it. Just doesnt look natural. Any advice is welcome. I am new to this, so maybe laptops are different, and i am yet to learn the right way of doing this.

What i know for sure, with the modded drivers, 95% of the options arent available and also, the windows brightness settings doesnt work from now on. I am really looking forward to official drivers next month...

For the zoom issue, Type: Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display into the explorer, and set the size to 100%.

Are you using modded desktop drivers? If so, that would be my guess as to why none of the color controls work.

    Found it, thanks.

Yes, i use. And yes, i think its those modded drivers causing that.

    Thank you for the answer.

... if Sentelics drivers dont work with your touchpad, you probably have a Synaptics touchpad and you should use these drivers : Drivers | Synaptics
They work perfectly for me !

I tried to use glossy screen protector on the matte display.
It significantly reduces graininess on the matte display, but it's still quite noticeable.

Not worth it when you consider how difficult it is to put it without bubbles, and mirror reflections that you get from a glossy screen.
Basically a glossy screen protector on a matte display is a complete failure, worst of both worlds.

I immediately removed the protector and throw it to a nearby garbage bin. :D

I would have thought this obvious, and most all bios updates, bios mod tools, OC tools, etc., are laden with cautionary notes and disclaimers. These tools are for the enthusiast who wish to test the limits of their hardware. By all means folks, if you are the least bit apprehensive in using them, DON'T! Your hardware and warranty will be at stake, but this will be of little concern to hardcore OC'ers.

    :)

BE AFRAID...... BE VERY AFRAID, LOL! :D My statement above applies here. These tools are not for the weak at heart or novice. Again, you are risking both your hardware and your warranty.

If you choose to test the limits of your hardware, elevate clocks or voltages slowly. A good starting point will generally be just below levels others are safely achieving. If any abnormalities are seen, back-off immediately to a point of stability. As a general rule, monitor temps carefully, and watch for any degradations in system performance. The idea is to reach a level of maximum performance, without overly stressing the hardware or your comfort zones. Do keep in mind however, when ever you choose to take this path, you are most likely declining the longevity or life of the hardware.

Some folks choose to do these things as a temporary matter of testing and curiousity, while yet others choose to exceed rated specifications continuously...... maximizing performance, but Burn Baby, Burn! The choice is yours, and you do so at our own risk. Bottomline, none of this is necessary or requisite, and the stock-clocked GTX 570M is adequate for most all of todays gaming.

The cool thing about Svet's tool is it's ease and simplicity of use, it's data collection and monitoring, and you can mod your VBIOS about as safely as possible...... so simple, even a novice 'caveman' can do it.

    :D

Hmmmm..... I don't know I would have bothered with all that, but I guess you had to try, right? Sounds like its time to order yourself that 90% gamut glossy screen. Ken, Quad, and others tell me this screen IS impressive. I am tempted myself, but the matte screen has it's moments too.

So now i am really sad....Really now...

First i read that e.g. AI problem isnt probably fixed at all in Heroes VI. It got some other bugs as well, glad that at least the compiled info is seriously huge so DEVs should take care about it.

But my problem is following. I..Bought Collectors Edition of this game and its just Awesome. I got so much stuff. And even one thing extra...Some leather circle amulet or what it is. I might as well make a photo for you tomorrow...The point is Steam says the key is unvalid :( :(

Contacted both Ubi and Steam Support via ticket. Waiting for answer. Also threw a thread on Steam forums...Just shooting it here because i feel like it. Sharing my mood..sad mood. And i was so excited to play a game exactly like Heroes VI....pff

@ person wanting to make an FAQ over these 377 pages (and growing)...
...YES PLEASE! If you can, please do it! What an awesome idea!!!
Especially for newbies like myself, having it all at hand would save so much time and touble when I'm searching for something specific!

I still have about a week n a half until my GT780DXR gets here (I hope they are fast at xoticPc). I haven't seen a review of the 90% gamut glossy screen anywhere on YouTube so I'll be getting on that once it's here.

One question: Does the 'P1' button come already set up or do you have to link that to the OC feature that comes with it? And then, can you lay a different OC tool on the p1 button without much trouble?

I've just typed my questions in google and 99% of the time it points me directly to this thread, on the page where my question can be answered. For example, lets say I wanted to see if the S-bar was needed. Google: gt780dxr is s-bar needed? The very first site to come up is this thread. IT'S LIKE MAGIC!

I'm simply agreeing with xmar99's issue and his video. I'm not saying anyone is obligated to help me with the lappy. I'm saying that this is an issue with multiple gt780dxr's by adding my experience as well. I'm am more than satisfied with my laptop. And I welcome any and all help and support that is offered. As to what games this occurs in; a few off of the top of my head are: dues ex human revolution, the witcher 2, rage, farcry 2, and duke nukem forever. So far there are no game which are "line free" but you must realize that you really have to look for them. As to the external monitor thing, I'm currently away on business so when I return home I will give that a shot. Once again, please don't mistake my tone. I'm a nice guy :)

Guys, have any of you tried to fit a GT780 into a Everki Flight?

I was wondering if it could fit otherwise I'd have to go for the Everki Beacon because the Everki Titan is too large =/

Haha, don't feel that way, I'm sure the Beacon is great =D
Compared to many other backpacks, this is the top in my list.

Well, it has an extra compartment more than Beacon, thus it looks bulkier. For daily use, I don't know if I could actually fit so many things in a Titan, that's why I'm going for a Beacon as of now.

Titan looked great too, very identical to the Titan except the weather cover but it seems that it can't fit a GT780, I will need to clarify this first, that's why I'm asking you guys =)

The reason it's large for me is because I'm an Asian who's about 5' 10" only =/
Even my dealer told me not to purchase the Titan as it is quite large for a daily use bag.

mm~ after buying the beacon I guess it justifies it's price. I'm 170cm don't know what it translates to, but I think you'd be better going with titan as there is nowhere to put drink bottle in the beacon except for the middle zip, but then there's nowhere to put the umbrella... The titan side pockets seems a bit deeper. I already knew this before purchase but I think I was too excited about the GT780 (I've been checking this thread for 7 months now everyday! XP) and that kind of screwed up the logical side of my brain. Also there's no place for tablet (even though I don't have one) and the console rectangular protection is just for consoles, haven't found other use for it yet.

However it is very comfortable on your back and I took 12 kg worth of stuff in it when moving to my new house lolololol, and rain coat is really good too, going to dinner submit first haha

That makes me 6-8cm taller than you =p

Really I should go for the Titan? I thought there is a compartment at the side to put the bottle?

Titan is kinda costly for me, I'll consider about it.. I hope the Titan doesn't over-size me XD

Is the Beacon still comfortable even when walking around the city with the bag loaded for around 3-6 hours? =x

Hmm~ depending on how much they sell it for at your place I guess. Here in New Zealand I was able to find the beacon at USD $100 which is around the same as what you get for buying in USA I when I did my research, whereas in Taiwan it would cost me $140 USD, that's why I bought it much earlier than when I'm going to get my laptop. Don't know how much more Titan cost but if it's only 20 USD more than beacon I think I'll defiantly go for titan. not being able to bring my bottle and umbrella at the same time really bothers me XP I saw the titan on sale for $130 AUD in Australia maybe you can find a cheaper one at your place?

Oh and yes there's 2 side pockets for the beacon, but they're very shallow and only comes up to 1/3 of my relatively small bottle and umbrella which fits almost perfectly in the front zip. But the shallowness makes reaching for your phone, notes, and pens easy if you need to write something etc.

The beacon is alright for me after walking for 20 minutes downhill with 12 kg on my back, but my shoulders did get sore afterwards, and it's pretty rough on the edges of the shoulder straps padding that rubs against your neck. And really sore after walking for another 20 minutes on flat ground after resting for 30 min on the bus. But if it was any other bag I don't think I can even make it half way.

Stuff in my bag were 4 course guides, a big glass bowl, a lunch box, my 5 year old ASUS F5R which is very heavy for a 15.4 inch laptop (3kg?), the power brick, my 3.5 inch external hard drive, 1 CD box, mouse, headphone, notebook and phone and 2 pens in side pocket, and other stuff I might have forgotten. (Just put everything you can fit in since it's backed up by lifetime warranty XP)

In the previous posts however, I saw some other people that have had the beacon and GT780 say it fits perfectly and they're very happy with it. I don't think flight will fit it as it's advertised to fit at to 16 inch?

Ya, I suppose so, it can fit only if you don't put it in the laptop compartment =(

So, you'd surely go for the Titan if the price is almost close to 1 another?

Based on what you said, I might lean over to decide on the Titan.. I'm only afraid about it being big, that's all..

A big glass bowl can fit in your beacon!? Isn't it a bit dangerous to put it in a bag? 0_o

Hmm~ yes, if it was me I'd 100% go for Titan, how about you buy it and we swap? XP I'll pay you the extra money lol~ (That is if you're in Taiwan Kaohsiung, or New Zealand Auckland)
I might be a bit biased though, since I view the ability to take a drink bottle and an umbrella as being mega ultra important...

What are you referring to in this sentence? "Ya, I suppose so, it can fit only if you don't put it in the laptop compartment =("

I think being big is the good thing about it? Generally I like bigger bags haha.

Oh my glass bowl isn't those huge ones that you take to share meals it's those kinds that you put porridge in, thick walled and sturdy. The circumference is about the size of your hand opened to its widest.
Also you might find that the padding protecting your laptop if very trusty, cause I wasn't even afraid to pack it in along with everything else weighing on top of it haha, but maybe it's because I'm about to replace it so I don't care that much XP

That referred phrase is about the Flight.. It only fits 16", if I insist on fitting in the 17" lappy, I have to place the lappy outside the laptop compartment =/

LOL, DreamwalkerL, tell me how trusty your padding is again when you replaced the laptop XD

Big is good but imagine the bag being big to the extend it reaches your butt, wouldn't look great right? I want a bag that is until my waist, nothing passing that level =)

Umbrella that important? You experienced rainy days at your place so often?
So where are you exactly, Taiwan or NZ?

The only doubt I had about the Beacon is the orange colour on the back of the bag, I'm afraid it might get dirty and have stains of black, that would look ugly and displeasing to the sight of others =/

Ah right, but wouldn't putting your laptop outside the laptop compartment render the point of having a laptop backpack pointless? XP

Sure! I'll tell you when I get my GT780, that is if you can wait till December or January haha

Hmm, I tried on the beacon backpack again to test it and it actually did almost reach the very top of my bottom with all the straps at their tightest... but I'm like a very short guy and stuff, however looking in the mirror I still find myself as good looking as ever, but that's just me...

I'm in NZ right now, but I go back to Taiwan 2-3 months every year during summer break (December till Feb) And yesss~~~ Umbrella is soooo important, often it just rains so suddenly that you'd go speechless. It doesn't rain often but when it does I want it with me and weather forecast is kinda ty.

Hmm~ for me I consider the guy that made the backpack orange a Genius lol, I have a decode back pack that is all black for 4 years now and every time I want something I need to feel it all over, but with this one it really makes finding things easy. The main compartment of the laptop is smooth and pretty easy to clean, while the laptop compartment which someone said was like Muppet fur? is kind of impossible to clean, but normally you'd only put your laptop in there?

Ya, it defeats the purpose of having a laptop compartment =/

Is it? Then it's a relieve that the Beacon will suit me, and the Titan will almost reach my bottom =x
Aww, you're definitely good looking for spilling all this info for me ;)

Owh, a Taiwanese? Pleased to meet ya XD
NZ rains that often? The only impression I hav about NZ is dat it has a vast field, filled with green grass and with all the 'Moos!!' that can be heard from the top of the hill =x
    Silly imagination =D

Ya, I agree, the interior being orange is a great idea, I was mentioning the exterior. But it does look striking and attractive, so many people wants to own the Beacon as soon as they know about it, it happened to my friends, at least =)

The Beacon has an inner material of fleece while the Titan has anti-shock foam. Which is better and what are the difference? I'm already convinced with the word 'anti-shock' there =D

    Haha glad to help!

    Are you Taiwanese too? XP

NZ rains quite a lot in Winter and occasionally in summer, just had a huge rain today, and it came so fast haha, The rain shield came in handy, but I didn't have my umbrella with me lol...

Your imagination's pretty accurate!!! for countryside that is hehe, Auckland's kind of different, just like usual big cities.

Ah right, but the orange part is the part that always sticks to your back... so unlikely to get dirty too easily? XP

Dunno about fleece and anti-shock, but, the fleece works fine for me, while anti-shock may work even better I suppose. :D

Heh~... we filled up 1 whole page and more by ourselves lol~ If anyone finds this unacceptable tell me and I'll bring it to private chat XP

There are very little artifacts at 740/950 with my unit. If it's for actual gaming you should starts with 720/900 just to be safe.

I believe our discussion might help the MSI GT780 owners out there who are sourcing for the perfect backpack, hope it'll be fine.

I didn't notice we filled up a whole page 0_o

Anyway, I'll check it out and update you guys about the inner material of the Titan when I head over to a shop. Hopefully I can head there next week. Nah, I'm Malaysian Chinese, it's at South East Asia =)

Lol, I just watch lotsa movies, that explains the imagination XD

About the bag, I believe that orange can get dirty if you sweat a lot and get dirty sometimes, won't it?
Once that stain is absorbed into the material, the stain will be very stubborn.

I wonder who will be setting up a FAQ section for this thread, I can't wait to actually find out more details about the GT780!

I remember there was a part in this thread where they mentioned about changing the keys of the pg up, pg down, home and end keys because it's just inconvenient to type the fn key along every time.
Any idea how to fix this?

I've to set 700/850/1400 to have no artifacts when running 3DMark11. It's perfect, I get the same perf as 580M with those frequencies :D and temp max without cooler booosting was 76°c after playing 2h :D

Yes please include the Home and End key thing into the FAQ, I can't find it in the previous post... too many to pages!

I have yet to run any benchmarks, but after 3 hours of playing Black Ops MP @676/1352/1686 with in-game settings set to Maximum, AA only 4x, Full HD resolution, maximum FOV = 91 FPS and i get 59°C ( Checked Afterburner it was max at 63 ... ). This laptop is just amazing.

EDIT : P1 on, Cinema Pro on, Turbo Cooler on :) + WiFi of course. The WiFi works great. 31 Ping on any local Europe server while other had around 60 or even 80. Just amazing.

Actually I have a 16" Case Logic bag which fits perfectly with space left.

What I did is that I saw the dimensions of the GT780, and compared it to different cases, ignore the screen size.

Wildcat11 has PM'ed me on this, and indicates he will try to start a new GT780 FAQ thread next week. Sorry this thread was not more helpful......

Oh man.... you couldn't be farther from the truth!!! This thread is EXTREMELY helpful. That's one of the reasons it's almost 400 pages long. The problem isn't that the thread isn't helpful, the problem is that there's so much good information in here that it's hard to keep track of what page it's on and how to find it. With a general FAQ it will be easy for everyone to get the information from the first thread.

I seriously hope that you don't feel slighted by the request of a FAQ. You've helped out so many people here, including myself. Because of the discussion here I have finally decided on exactly which model Gentech is going to build me. Now it's just a matter of waiting till payday.

I use the MSI bag that I got with my old GX700, and my GT780DX fits very tightly in it. Apparently the GX700 was kinda small for a 17".

As for OC and temps, my "default" is 680/1700, and the highest temp I've seen is 65C. It became unstable with the ram around 1800.

I know this bag has been mentioned before, but I figure I'd add my input on the bag discussion. I'm using the Everki Advance Laptop Bag and it's been working splendidly. There is a little room in the notebook area as it's a 18.4" version, but it doesn't seem too loose or big. And there's still room in the front pocket for the monstrous power brick and my books. It's a good solution if you like messenger bags or don't want something huge.

Wouldn't one shouldered messenger bag make you really really sore??? The Asus ROG Shuttle looks really really nice, but are there places for drink bottle and umbrella to reach for on the go? Say if it starts raining suddenly can you just whip out the umbrella straight away?

Is there any way to setup a customized sequence for backlight keyboard? KLM is great, but not enough :)

Can you be more specific? KLM is technically a customized sequence for backlight keyboard. If you want to individually customize each key, it's not possible for the steel series. You only get those three sections to deal with.

Yes, yes you can. You can even put there my Roccat Valo gaming keyobard just fine. In the middle it has very big amount of space. I might take some pictures later...You can put there Laptop, mouse, keyboard, umbrella, books, notepad, and even drink and food. And much more. Yes, all fits.

PS : No, it wont make you sore at all. I do basic stretching from time to time. Also, if you are going to some office and going to stand hours in some queue then yes, it might make you sore :D But that is kinda exaggerated.

Re:Xault - is there even such keyboard ? And why would anyone want that ? I like it on the laptop, but for dekstop i like to have my Roccat Valo. I am going to order Roccat Isku when i feel like it, or when Valo pisses me off ( also would be neat to find a buyer for my Valo) :p But i definitely like to configure each and one button for my Kone+..Thats different !

Oh umm~ main point for having a special place for umbrella and bottle is so other things won't get wet, otherwise you can put both of them into any bag. For my decode bag, I have 2 webbed compartments on each side of the bag which will not come in contact with other stuff, does the ASUS bag have compartments like these?

Haha, you must be so into your bag that you forget about the sweat ^^"

Well, he's 1 of the many great academic students in Malaysia I suppose.. I'm not 1, sadly =x

I bet you had a hard time pressing the home and end keys too right? I hope there is a remapping software.. It would be better if SteelSeries include the GT780 keyboard into their SteelSeries engine software, so awesome XD

Thanks for the advice, will check out the dimensions and compare it to the bags. Nice bag by the way!
Titan it is for me!! =D

I do a lot of walking especially when I'm outstation to other cities, so I need a backpack.. You know anything about Slappa? Y are they so famous?

Striker, don't feel that way.. We appreciate you for what you did in this thread. You've helped so many of us. And the best recent thing you did was introducing us the vbios tuner, so cool! Too bad I have no overclocking knowledge yet, I'll need to learn.

You've kept this thread so active till today, how can you not be helpful?
We thank you very much for your effort and the contents on this thread filled with so much information =D

You're kinda right, carrying a messenger bag around sometimes would look good too. At times when I put on a backpack, I feel like I'm going back to primary/elementary school, please help me get this impression out of my mind.

I suppose I'll reconsider buying a messenger bag once I'm settled with the backpack that I want, hopefully Titan which I've decided for now..

Everki rocks!! Thanks for your suggestion ;)

Oh I haven't bought the laptop, just imagining the inconvenience XP
I think I saw someone saying slappa is bad on amazon (on the page that sells the beacon), but he also said Everki was bad too and pointing out the water bottle problem, so I guess he has a fair point.

+1 for the striker part :D

Oh and you're sure Titan suits you right XP Cause I'd hate to be blamed if it turns out unsuitable for you lol~ And tell me the price you bought it at if you do!!!

Lol, I'll definitely check it out first. You don't have to worry, I won't blame you. I only asked for your opinion and suggestion and so I'll put them into my consideration.

You helped me, thanks a lot ;)

No problem, I'll tell you the price but I'd expect it to be expensive since it's their newest product line, right?
