New WHQL Intel RST Driver/Software v10.8.0.1003
intel drivers pour Raid/Sata/Ata/Ahci
To install:
Unpack 7Z file to desktop
Open device manager
Open IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers
Click on Intel(R)ICH SATA AHCI Controller
Click on driver
Update Driver
Browse Computer
Browse To 10.8_f6flpy-x64 folder on desktop>Next
The 10.8_f6flpy folder is also to be used during clean Windows 7 installations on a 2nd USB stick at the add driver screen for normal AHCI or Raid setups.
BTW,if you install Windows 7 from a USB stick remove the USB stick and the 2nd USB stick with the Intel RST during the 1st reboot after the installation files are expanded and installed or else the installation process may start from the beginning again after the reboot. -
Guys I have a question about the MSI GT780DX
I want to buy one, but it comes with a 1TB (2x500GB RAID 0, 7200RPM) Hard drive.
Now my question is:
Can I buy a Samsung 830 Series SSD and exchange it with one of the 500gb drives in the laptop? Means the Samsung SSD + A 500gb 7200RPM in RAID 0
Please guys I need a fast answer
Sorry for my noobishness xD
Thanks In advance. -
In fact you can buy them with that option from a couple of vendors that post on this thread. -
How much faster will it be then?
Because I heard the SSD will just make it 20% faster than the 2x500gb, 7200rpm in RAID 0 -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Will it make your games faster? No.
Will it make multi tasking, and general loading (windows, game levels etc) faster? Yes. -
If you go from 500GB 7.2K x 2 in Raid 0 to 500GB 7.2K + SSD in Raid 0, you will see almost no performance increase at all. In raid 0, the smallest of the drives and the slowest of the drives are the limiters.
If you had a 128GB SSD and a 500GB 7.2K HD in raid 0...
Your combined space would be 256GB (not 628GB).
Your speed would be only as fast as 2x 128GB 7.2K drives (not SSD speed).
You're better off turning off raid and using the SSD for your windows installation and maybe a game or two, then using the 500GB 7.2K HD for media storage.
By putting an SSD and a regular HD in raid 0 with each other, you're wasting the SSD's speed and the regular HD's capacity. -

So I downloaded the Burn Recovery installation from a guy who gave me the link here.
The BurnRecovery started; and then it stood something like "Please wait, preparing files" or something like that.
However, it didn't do anything for 20 whole minutes. Nor could I close it.
I also saw that a partition of my HDD now was visible;
BIOS_RVY (311mb (space left) / 15.3 gb (total))
During the "preparing files" I tried to enter the partition but right after I opened it in "My Computer" it closed the window automatically.
I grew tired of perhaps thinking it was corrupted. I restarted my computer (by just pressing Restart in Start Menu).
I came back to the desktop and saw that the partition still existed. This time it didn't close the window when I opened it.
A picture: http://i43.tinypic.com/2uqgoar.png
I tried to repair the program using the Add/Delete Program-option but after a while it asked me for an .exe which I had no ing clue what to do.
And now I'm here
IM SO BAD AT COMPUTER >_< -
Is that something I can do myself by reading an online guide or do I have to take it to a specialist for that?
Is there a guide you would suggest me to read on how to exchange the SDD? -
There are links in this thread, but they're kinda lost in the 440+ pages. Perhaps one of the long-time contributors has it bookmarked and can link it to you.
Breaking up the Raid 0 configuration of the 2x500GB drives will require a change in your BIOS and a reinstallation of Windows. Depending on how confident you are in the instructions and your ability to perform the changes, you could do it yourself. -
Yea I've read through some pages in this thread, pretty long ^^!
Well I've never done it before, so I would kinda need a guide with pictures xD!
I opened my old laptop sometimes for some dust cleaning on the fan and installing windows is no problem, but I've never changed BIOS settings nor physically replacing a HDD with an SDD :*(!
I still don't have my GT780DX, but I expect to have it by next week =)! -

The SSD Tweaker program has been updated to v1.9.9
Elpamsoft.com - Home of the SSD Tweaker for Windows
SSD Tweaker Lets you Tweak the following:
Windows Services (Pro Only)
Query and Set Windows 7 TRIM Status (Pro Only)
Experimental TRIM Optimization (Pro Only)
Hibernation Settings (Pro Only)
Use Large System Cache
Ntfs Memory Usage
Disable 8.3 Filenames
Disable Date Stamping
Disable Boot Tracing
Windows Prefetcher
Windows Vista Superfetch
Windows Indexing Service
System Restore
Windows Defrag
netFramework is required for this program to function.
The Pro version does a few more tweaks than the FREE version but the free version will do the job of getting the system ready for an SSD.
The Pro only features can be done manually.
I use the Pro version that I bought during one of the $9.99 sales.
Don't forget to turn off the scheduled defragging feature in Norton AV if you use it. -
I was at the Intel site updating my Rapid storage program and noticed there was an update for my intel 6230 wifi card. The file on the msi site has not been updated for awhile and is over 100mb and says Intel Wireless LAN _crane peak. The file on the intel site is just for wireless and does not have the crane peak. Not sure what that is?
Should I update or wait for msi to come out with an update?
Thanks

intel drivers pour chipsets Reseaux (Lan) & Wifi (Wireless)
For the 6230 you'll also need the newest WHQL Intel Bluetooth driver
WHQL driver releases are usually safe to use.
Betas are sometimes quick fixes that are released until a WHQL Official driver is released. This is often the case with Graphics card drivers for new game releases.
If you wait for MSI to update their downloads you may often be in for a long wait.
I visit station-drivers.com and laptopvideo2go.com(Nvidia releases) almost daily looking for new driver releases.
Majorgeeks.com is a good place to find software updates.
You could play it safe and use only MSI Official releases but in doing that you may not be getting the best possible performance from your unit. -
Thanks

I have a BFN 1103 with 3 antennas and a BT dongle for the rare times I need to use a BT device. -
Hey guys, sorry but two noob questions from me
1) What do people use bluetooth for, why is it so important? (I've only used it on phones for small file transfer before)
2) Off topic, but are there any advantages in playing games in full screen? Such is performance increase? -
2: no performance difference, I tested Lost Planet 2 benchmarks a while back requested by forum member Ryzeki, the Window mode vs full screen gets exact same score. -
Make sure your C: partition is called OS_INSTALL and D: partition is called DATA -
Aaarrggh... I'm getting frustrated with MSI's customer service; it's nothing like GenTechPC! I can't seem to get anyone to respond to my emails about the 'Locked n Loaded' gaming bundle and I can't register for it due to the 3GB GT570M SKU not being there. I also can't get confirmation on my extra year (USA) warranty status.
Very frustrating.... though I remember having issues like this when I needed to RMA my first GT735 for bad memory.
I'll get off my soapbox now. -

Update: Talked to MSI they said 446 is too new so they haven't add this SKU on their promotion page, they said you can choose any model to redeem the headset and mouse and they will honor it. -

Thinking about buying one should I wait and see if theres a deal on cyber monday or will there not be any?
And is the screen 120hz? -
And no, the screens are only 60 hz. -
Just a quick question, but I was playing in the SWToR beta this weekend and I noticed after about an hour or so, my GT780DX power adapter getting pretty hot. So hot, in fact, that it was almost too hot to keep holding my hand on it for longer than 10-15 seconds. I didn't measure the temp, not having a gauge handy, but I am wondering if this is normal?
This is the only real game I have played on the new laptop, and it isn't THAT graphically intensive, maybe more CPU intensive...not sure.
Should it be getting this hot? -
WhatsThePoint Notebook Virtuoso
While gaming with the adapter plugged in it will get very warm>hot especially if the activity being performed requires close to the max rated output of the adapter.
With the battery fully charged and the notebook only being used for surfing and viewing pages like this forum the adapter should only be warm. -
-
I've noticed my power brick in the same state many times before, usually under heavy load or charging as mentioned. I'd say it's normal, probably just working hard near capacity. -
Hello guys I have been following this thread for some time, I’m going to buy a new gaming notebook and after weeks of research I have my eye on these two models: MSI GT780DXR-446US and Asus G74SX-3DE. I know that MSI is the overall best choice but it lacks 3D vision, now here is my question:
Is it possible to get 3D Vision using an external 3D monitor or TV?
Sorry if it was posted earlier, I went through Google and half this thread and couldn’t find anything related. Thanks in advance for your replies. -
According to NVIDIA, that's possible and the laptop does have an HDMI 1.4a output, but I don't see any confirmation in this thread either.
From the NVIDIA site:
"NVIDIA® 3DTV Play™ and HDMI 1.4a Support3
Support for HDMI 1.4a output enables sending both high-definition video and audio signals to an HDTV via a single cable. Connect your laptop to any 3D enabled TV with NVIDIA 3D TV Play and stream all your 3D content onto the big screen, including Blu-Ray, 3D photos, even your games!" -
Thanks Skathe, also found similar information but it seems that the support depends on the manufacturer; I would like to know if somebody here already verified if it’s possible.
From notebookcheck.net profile of GTX 570M:
"3D Vision enables the laptop to send 3D contents (3D games, 3D Web Streaming, 3D photos, 3D Blu-Rays) to a built-in 3D enabled screen or an external 3D TV (only if supported by the laptop manufacturer)." -
Also some 120Hz monitor does not have HDMI 1.4 input so it won't work. -
That is good to know that this models are 3D capable.

NVIDIA has software called 3DTV Play
It is bundled free with most 3D ready TV products and notebooks.

How many times can I re-install 3DTV Play Activation?
Will I need a special HDMI 1.4a cable? -
