    I can choose between a Laptop with a resolution of 1366*768 with a gtx 560m for 999€, called medion erazer x6817 ( Germany )

or I can choose a Laptop with a resolution of 1920*1080 with a gtx 570m for 1127€, called Deviltech 5700

That's why i asked this question. I want a Laptop where i don't have to reduce a lot of details and the resolution and because the resolution is very different i want to know which card performs better: gtx 560m @ 1366*768 max details ( every game ) or gtx 570m @ 1920*1080 max details ( every game )

Does a Laptop exist with a gtx 570m and a max resolution of 1366*768 ? In my opinion that would be the best solution.

Just the gtx 580m and the hd Radeon 6990m should be strong enough to handle this resolution in almost every game but the gtx 570m ...

    SRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH!

In the bios there's a boot order for 3 devices.

If you have only ODD and boot drive hard disk then highlight #3 the Realtek Lan,click Enter and disable #3 in the boot order.

If you have 3 other devices not including the Realtek Lan then set the #1,#2and #3 boot order without the Realtek Lan.

    Save the changes and reboot.

The MSI GT780 models bios doesn't have a "Disable Boot From Lan" option.

I don't know if the "unlocked bios" has it as an option.

As I said in my previous post, it doesn't work. It still says Reboot and Select proper Boot device or insert boot media in selected bott device and press a key

Once again : how to do i remove the battery to damn resolve this problem FAST instead of trying again and again things i already tried.

With the power adapter and 9 cell battery removed open the bottom of the notebook and disconnect the black and red wire connector thats at the bottom left of the fan when the fan is in the upper right corner looking into the exposed interior for about 2 minutes.

This may be what you are asking for.

Your bios clock will need to be reset after doing this.

    Hope this fixes your issue.

I'm afraid that didn't solve the issue either... I shall return the laptop to MSI and wait for their answer. Only have it since 2 weeks..

Do you have 1 or 2 hard drives in your unit?

If you have 2,then remove 1 and try unless they're in raid array.

A bad drive can cause problems.

Can you enter the Raid Utility pressing CTRL + I and see if the Raid 0 array is OK with both disks as member disks.

Both disks must be working properly for the array to work.

Any hard disk problem will cause the array not to boot.

Will the notebook boot to a Windows 7 DVD installation disk or a bootable Linux distro on a USB stick?

I use Parted Magic unpacked onto a USB stick using the Universal USB Installer.
    downloads ? Parted Magic
Universal USB Installer – Easy as 1 2 3 | USB Pen Drive Linux

I use this Parted Magic USB stick to upgrade my OCZ SSD firmware, secure erase, partition and format.I also use it to save files off inaccessable hard drives.

If you can boot the W7 DVD or the USB stick then there's a Raid array problem.

It says Raid 0 has no problem in the raid utility.

But i think i found the problem myself, ill repost the ETA as soon as i figure out if it was that.

You can buy the 1366x768 screen and swap it yourself, it's not that difficult.

    Re-install S-bar should fix it.

maybe your hard drives in RAID-0 is missing the boot loader?

Ok, so I'm able to run Memtest86 from a bootable key, however everytime I reboot, the test begins anew, and if i disable the key we return to the same problem.

Just for kicks and giggles.... those of you out there who have a 3BG GT570M, can you run 3dMark Vantage and see what you can clock your vid card at with Afterburner. I get good marks with no aberration at 650, 1300, 1700. However... I get bad aberration at 710, 1420, 1850.

I'd like to see what others with the 3GB Card are getting. It seems like those with the 1.5 card are able to clock higher than those with the 3GB card, so please submit your scores only if you have the 3GB card so I can compare it to the 1.5 scores that were posted throughout this thread.

    Thanks

I'm really glad that Rob had posted that the GT780 will be expecting an upgrade to the 580M soon, I can wait just a bit longer on that anyways.

However, back to my questions posted previously this more directed at Dragon or anyone that has done this: What places offer the GTX580M or 6990M for sale? Do you get these off of ebay? is there a place like newegg.com that deals in just mobile graphics cards?

Also, is there a reason why laptops don't have standardized GPU sockets like a desktop mainboard does? you know, like PCIe X16 but for laptops. I find it rather odd that these laptops boast being able to support 32GB of RAM but 3 years from now I doubt that 32GB of RAM will even be necessary. I guess what I'm saying is why boast you can get 32GB of RAM when I can't think of a single reason why we would need more than 16GB currently and even then needing that much I feel is rare. Yet 3 years from now we may not be able to upgrade the GPU because the socket or something changed again but we can still upgrade the drives and RAM...seems like kind of a waste imho.
If they could make the GPU socket the same like we do with a desktop mainboard, I think that would make a little more sense then.
Unless I'm completely off and not fully understanding how laptops are setup still. ^^;; Again, I'm coming more from the desktop side of things and just looking for a laptop for taking to LAN parties.

I haven't let 3DMark Vantage finish yet. I only use it to check for aberration. I'm not worried about scores as much as I'm worried about what clock speed you can set before you start seeing aberration. Scores mean nothing to me, but a major difference in the 'usable' clock speed between the 1.5gb cards and the 3gb cards would be concerning.

I have no imperfections in images I can play BF3 on Ultra settings for hours without fault on my OC setting's I am using the 1.5GB 570m setting's as below and as before temps have never been over 73c yet. My card is pretty much maxxed at these settings any further increase and it's unstable and black screen's.

I cannot reach those clock rates without further increasing my core voltage. Can you let me know what is your GPU core voltage needed for stable performance. Did yout try furmark by chance to see any stability issues? I don't want to increase GPU core voltage. Maybe I should wait for upcoming Nvidia GTX 680M and then upgrade the GPU. Though there is no guarantee that the socket will fit in this Laptop.

With a bad memory module you'd probably would be getting BSODs.

Do you have a extra hard drive or an SSD?

I'd suggest removing the 2 drives for the Raid0 array and install Windows 7 from a USB stick and add the iRST v10.8.0.1003 from a 2nd USB stick at the add driver screen.

You'd need to change the bios from Raid to AHCI before doing the clean install.

A SATA III SSD will yield better speed and performance than the Raid 0 array.

Before SSDs I always had Raid0 arrays.Thank god for SATA III SSDs.

If this doesn't work then RMA and let MSI figure it out.

Living and working in this small country has an advantage.

The MSI service center is about 10 minutes from my apartment here in Seoul.

There's a counter that has about 5 techs that take care of you once one is available. You walk out fixed.

Really friendly people that take excellent care of this foreigner with poor Korean language skills.

Today I'll visit them for a 2nd hard drive bracket that wasn't in the box of my non Raid model(SSD) and then buy a caddy for a 3rd hdd in the same electonics center.I have little use for the ODD.

I'm sorry if you thought my reply was an insult. I gave you a very direct post that answered all the questions you posted in your other thread. However... if you're looking for owner opinions, there isn't a single post for that. I like mine. Other than that, there is currently 463 pages full of answers on what other current owners think.

I like my MSI GT780dx has not exceeded 73c when gaming ok I have used an aftermarket paste now on the CPU and GPU but my GPU is overclocked quiet a bit over stock setting's and I have no fault's. The only complaint I have with the lapp is the fact you can't adjust the multipliers to overclock CPU even when using an xm model processor.

I purchased mine from the USA BTOtech.com built to order Notebooks Custom Gaming Laptops Asus Msi Lenovo very quick delivery and good communications and advice

    I have a quick question:

Ordered a new GT780dxr with some custom stuff in the middle of last week from gentechpc. Ken told me the system will not begin to be build until Monday since they are on vacation ( I am from Germany so forgot about your Holiday ). Now, I noticed one nice tradition in US: Cyber-Monday :D and the "discounts" at gentechpc are actually nice. Kinda need an external drive anyway and the free no-dead-pixel means -80$ which is -100$ for me due to german 19% VAT.

Question is: could I cancel my order and place a new one? I am not familiar with US laws, here we can return any product within 30 days for a full refund no-questions-asked or cancel any pending order for free. Is the same available for US also? And is it "ethical" to cancel an order so I can remake it and get the promotion? If I would have known about Cyber-Monday I would have waited 4-5 more days since they were on vacation anyway :(

Just ordered my GT780DXR-446US RT from NewEgg (financing was easiest). I'm excited for it to come, only wish I'd paid the $20 for same-day delivery. I figured I'd come register and introduce myself.

I have a 60gb SATA3 SSD in my current laptop that I plan on moving over, and I'll probably end up re-installing the OS.

Funny enough, I'm not much of a PC Gamer (mainly because my current hardware sucks for it), and my most used apps are Emacs and UltraEdit, but I fully expect my search and replace to be lightning quick from now on :).

In a couple more days, I'm sure I'll be asking questions. In the meantime I have about 400 more pages in this thread to read.

I'm dislikin the touchpad (mousepad) and the keyboard a lot.

    The scrolling isn't working properly.

The keyboard types P or Q or some random letter or even makes it like you're hitting some key when you are not.

Also when I keep writing like this, and for an example hit a character, it doesn't type that character I want it to. It's like ignoring the request of writing for an example T when I hit the T button. It works when I keep hitting T like now TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT but when I rapidly write sentences some letters do not get registered.

So if I write "sentences" sometimes it writes "senences" or even "sentenes", and yes I make sure I hit the key very accurate.

    >_<

Didn't they fix the keyboard issues in the later releases? From what i read only the GT780R seemed to have them, maybe the first DX also.

Just canceled my order order and placed a new one for a custom build based on the 406 DX... It is actually cheaper and I did not know that the only difference between DX and DXR is the raid... no need for it since I added a SSD anyway.

For anyone interested, I played the SWTOR beta this weekend on my new GT780DX. At 1920 x 1080 and the highest settings, I was able to get smooth frames and the GPU never went over 70C.

Hmm... I just noticed the deal at MSI's website for a free BatMan Arkham City game when you buy one of these. Any chance I get that from NewEgg? Or as a download? I don't have any games, but I sure would like to try one out when I get it.

Touchpad sucks in this machine. Just use a mouse and you will enjoy the computer way more. I have downloaded driver/reg patch & it still sucks only works good sometimes but I have to restart before using the touchpad...lol ridiculous for the price we spent on this machine but I really think screwed us over by providing a cheap touchpad.

Anyone know if the touchpad can be upgraded with similar size?
