I've seen the same issues that the laptop can't enter the BIOS, it's probably it's trying to resume from hibernate but at the same time your OS corrupted.

You can try disconnect the CMOS battery for 30 seconds and reconnect see if you are enter to enter the BIOS again.

This is what I did to install a Synaptics touchpad into my GT780.

Let's start with a picture of the stock Sentelic touchpad:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=73488&stc=1&d=1323302198

Note the 6 pin connector. In this orientation, the pins, from left to right are:

    Ground
    Right button
    Left button
    PS/2 data
    PS/2 clock
    +5V

The goal of the mod is to give your Synaptics touchpad the same pinout.

The dimensions of the Sentelic are 83.5mm X 42.38mm.

I looked on Ebay with search term "Synaptics touchpad", and got quite a few hits. Anyway, I ordered a bunch of different ones, but the one that worked the best for me was from an HP notebook. The Synaptics part number is TM-01152-003, the Synaptics board number is 920-001022-02 Rev A, and the HP part number is 486631-001. Here is a picture of it:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=73489&stc=1&d=1323303042
Ignore the extra wires that are soldered onto it - that was for an earlier test.

Note it has a 6 pin connector as well (the same lead pitch, even). But that would be too easy. As one would expect, the pinout for this touchpad are completely different than the Sentelic's. The pinout from bottom to top is:

    +5
    PS/2 data
    PS/2 clock
    ground
    Left button
    Right button

There is probably a Synaptics PS/2 touchpad out there somewhere with the correct dimensions and pinout that would just drop right in, but in my weeks of research, I couldn't track it down. There are probably other models of Synaptics touchpads out there that will work as well - this is just what I did based on what I could find on ebay.

So, to make this work, we have to desolder the connector from the Synaptics touchpad in order to do some surgery:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=73490&stc=1&d=1323303621

Note the sugery around the ground pin. We need to remove the connector because this pin is tied to the ground plane underneath the connector and needs to be re-connected to PS/2 data to be compatable with the Sentelic pinout, so carve the ground plane until the pad is isolated.

Next, solder the connector back on, and cut/rewire the board so that it's pinouts match the Sentelic's:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=73491&stc=1&d=1323303928

Next, install your new Synatics touchpad. If you use the same one I did, you'll find out it's slightly bigger (by a mm or two) in each dimension than the Sentelic, so you'll need to shave down the curved plastic nib on the case in the upper right area of the touchpad area, which would otherwise constrain it. Once you do this, it doesn't matter that it's a little bigger - the size is so close that it still works fine.

I put a bunch of insulating tape over the top of it to alleviate any potential shorting issues:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=73492&stc=1&d=1323304399

Next, put the foil sheild back and hook up the connectors:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=73493&stc=1&d=1323304399

Put it all back together, un-install the crappy Sentelic driver, install the Synaptics driver, and enjoy.

    -Dano-

Notebookcheck has a review up of the GT780DX-i71691BLW7H(GTX570M 3GB)

I can't for the life of me understand why they would put an Intel 120GB SATA II 320 series SSD in a SATA III capable notebook as the primary drive.

    The review knocks the performance.

I hope this isn't the SSD they will put in the GT783?

The review also states the HDD is 5400rpm?

my guess is that they have lots of them in stock since everyone has moved to 510 :p

The GT783 available for preorder on GentechPC allow you to change the hard drive and optical drive last time i check so that may bring cost down a bit :p

Have you tried doing a clean Windows 7 x64 installation with only 1 drive inside the notebook.

Remove the 2nd hard drive. If this doesn't work try with the other hard drive only.

Hoping that with the 2nd hard drive removed and only 1 hdd installed you might be able to get into the bios and(or) boot from a USB stick with the Windows installation files.

Pressing F11key on startup select the USB stick and install Windows from a USB flash drive and Intel RST from 2nd USB flash drive at add driver screen.

After you choose Custom Clean Installation the next screen will have disk utilities and add driver.

Using the disk utilities format all showing partitions and then delete them all until only 1 partition remains.

Now if you got this far insert the 2nd USB stick with the newest WHQL F6 version of the Intel RST and install the driver.

Remove both USB sticks during 1st reboot.

On GentechPC GT783 preorder page it doesn't name the stock primary drive SSD but does list it as 128GB SATA III 6gb/s.

So that rules out Vertex 3 and other 120GB drives that have reserved memory for wear leveling.

The SSD in this model will most likely be a Transcend SSD as it is the ONLY 128GB SSD listed in the MSI Qualified Key Component List for the GT78x notebook models.

    What i tryed:

To enter, bios; boot menu; boot from Win7 disk, Win7 flash; recover bios from fat16 flash with amibios.rom, recover from CD with amibios.rom:

    1) without HDD`s and CD-ROM
    2) with 1 HDD only with and without CD-ROM
    3) with 2 HDD in raid 0 and without a raid
    4) with 2 brand new HDD in a raid and without a raid
    5) with 1 brand new HDD
    6) with 1 SSD
    7) with SSD and SATA in a raid and without a raid
    8) with USB-FDD

    Also I:

    Disconnected the CMOS battery.
Tryed to use another memory modules same type and size.

    Nothing has changed.

Just when i have no HDD - raid config screen did not slpash.
If i insert HDD`s - raid config screen did slpash.

and than all returns to MSI screen.

I think you are right, it's either they have a lot in stock or it's cheaper. Asus also use Intel 160GB SSD 320 series SATA 2 on their G74SX-DH72.

Something is not right in this picture:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/att...t780dxr-owners-lounge-2011-12-07-14.59.12.jpg

Both disk says it's a RAID-0 member disk, looks like both drive still in RAID-0 settings even they are not the same type of drive.

Can you try delete the RAID?

It is the picture when i used SSD+SATA another disks in raid 0.

    Hi lexs166,

    That's strange,
I think there is a problem with corrupted data in intel SATA RAID Option ROM NV area (a small part of BIOS area, someting like as EC BIOS area), where Intel RAID Controller stores our own internal disk(s) configuration data...

Possible Fix: You can try to flash again GT780 BIOS file, with parameters to complete re-initialize all NV areas,
so for example in DOS with the command:

    AFUDOS.EXE /P /B /N /C /E (followed by your MSI GT780 BIOS full filename)

    Good Luck

Thanks Rob! Your insights are always appreciated.

Yeah like I said earlier, the information changes rapidly from day to day. I already realized a 580M will not fill my stocking this year, so I have ordered my wife the GT780DX-406US model. She'll be happy anyhow......

I got a problem with the Mic...I am using Teamspeak 3 to comunicate with my clan mates, and when i wanna play Call of Duty MW3 with them, they dont hear me. I have hard times configuring the mic. Sometiems realtek silent it automatically without any notification. I would like to know if there is some drivers for microphone other then realtek, since the mic just doesnt work. Period.

I need a quick answer because we are playing a Europe sports league and i have to keep playing and practicing, and mic is very vital, actually the most needed part of it. if anyone got an answer for me, please reply.

    Thanks i advance

I have no driver suggestions, but there are 2 things worth noting.

    1) Some people have complained that the mic hole is on the wrong side. The hole should be on the left side of the webcam. Some have found their's on the right and need to poke a hole for it or flip the glass cover.

    2) Make sure your mic boost is on. I found the realtek application actually allowed for +30dB boost and I had to use it for my guild members to hear me clearly.

There's a few things to try.

#1 on bootup pressing the Del key may bring you to the Raid screen but keep tapping Del a few more times and the bios setup may open where you can change from RAID to AHCI.

    or

    #2(BIOS RECOVERY)
    1. An optical SATA Drive needs to be connected to one of the Intel ICH10R SATA ports. {After a lot of testing, I found that it does not work with the same optical drive connected to the SATA Ports hosted by the secondary JMicron Controller. Also, using an optical drive on the JMicron IDE/PATA port does not help either.}

    2. A proper BIOS File has to be renamed to AMIBOOT.ROM and burned on an empty CD.

    3. CMOS-Clear with main A/C power cable removed from PSU has to be performed. {If this step is not done, the system will reboot after pressing CTRL + Home and will not proceed with recovery procedure.}

    4. Press CTRL + Home to trigger BIOS Recovery. -> The system should enter BIOS Recovery Routine. {Will basically work with both USB & PS/2 keyboard. However, a PS/2 Keyboard is recommended as the system will respond earlier to PS/2 Keyboard than to USB Devices.}

    What should happen now:

    1. After pressing CTRL + HOME the LED Status should change to "Intializing Hard Disk Controller" and there should be access to the optical drive connected to the Intel ICH10R SATA ports.

    2. It can take up to 30+ seconds until the BIOS File that was renamed to AMIBOOT.ROM is found. {Drive Bay can be opened to try a different CD without turning off or restarting the system.}

    3. When the system finds the BIOS File, LED Status will change to "Testing RTC" and there should be a message on the screen indicating that the Flash Recovery Procedure has started.

    4. Since the BIOS File is 4MB in size, it will take a while until the BIOS is actually reflashed.

    BIOS flashing / BIOS RECOVERY

    Hi MrShadowness,

Make sure your are boost your microphone to +30dB, microphone level at 50 % and Microphone Enhancements such like DC Offset Cancellation / Beam Forming / Acoustic Echo Cancellation are Enabled.
Also, that StereoMix thingy may produce some problems with microphone auto-leveling in VOIP clients, so Disable that "feature" too.

You can test your current mic settings if you select Listen to this device in Listen Tab

    Cheers

Thank you WhatsThePoint, i will try the procedure after workday.

    Yesterday i found that:
if i hold down Ctrl+Fn+Home and press Power the laptop boot into black screen.
It looks like CD is trying to read disk, but USB flash doesnot, no led blinks in any of 5 usb ports,

I tested loads of combination with usb flash and also put
E1761IMS.10E; E1761IMS.ROM; AMIBOOT.ROM (the same bios but renamed) on the cd. I dont really know is it matters how many files are on the cd? I will try today only with AMIBOOT.ROM

I tryed the procedure - doesnot work

When it boot, during the raid screen i can only enter raid menu "Ctrl+i"

When trying to recover bios Ctrl+home - laptop goes to black screen and the disk with amiboot.rom doesnot work.

Maybe cd-rom shoud be connected instead of hdd ?
    FAT16 HDD did not worked

I've a huge issue with my keyboard. It keeps typing random characters or like I'm actually hitting the key when I'm not.

Also sometimes there's a delay when I write a character.

I've tried to contact MSI support about another issue 1st november and there is still no answer for them.

How do I contact MSI to fix this problem? It's getting annoying. The problem existed the day I bought the computer.

Yea..... have fun with that. Since I purchased my machine in early November I've tried to contact MSI Customer service 5 times for various questions. Not once did I reach an actual person. In addition, I left messages (as per their system instructions) 3 time....... not once did anyone call me back. When purchasing a $2500 machine, I'd expect a bit more customer service than that.

my suggestion.... call your reseller. Mine has been great at solving all my problems.

The black screen is normal.Maybe you're not holding CTRL + Home long enough?

The CD/DVD must be the 1st boot device.

Choose it by pressing F11key on bootup then quickly hold down the CTRL and Home keys for several minutes.

On the CD should only be the extracted E17611MS.1E file renamed to AMIBOOT.ROM from the downloaded zipped bios file.

The mic seems to work when i test it, but in teamspeak when i do the test, there is some awful BG sound when i say e.g. HI after that sometimes it do like some soundwave effect like wooo, hooo, wooo....Just some BG sounds.

But what really bothers me is the fact that when i press the mic KEY ! the Teamspeak DARK BLUE stays DARK and not LIGHT BLUE which is turned on when you press the mic hot key. I seriously do not know why this is happening.

And where are their phone lines info?

    MSI Global - Contact Us

Who did you purchase the notebook from? And when?
Also, is it defective on arrival?

You need to contact MSI in your country to get a repair authorization and an address of where to ship it to for the repair.

There's a 1 year global warranty,so no matter where you are you can get it repaired at any MSI service center.

You might want to contact the dealer you bought the unit from to assit you in getting it repaired.

If you get lucky and the service center is reliable.

I've sent my laptop for service (Screen lines, keyboard and touchpad), and all they've done was reconnect the cables. (Seriously W*F) In addition to that, They left me a poor re-assembly that causes the laptop to create loud vibration sounds when reading from a DVD(Mutes it when I press on the case) and vibrates the laptop when some sound frequencies are playing(A kind of ticking sound the comes from the ~ right speaker~ or surrounding area)!

I've been trying to contact MSI since then, and never suceeded...

Result = Waste of time + MOAR issues..

Thats why i am trying to fix my self.
I did not checked two things:
CMOS battery - maybe dead ?
    DVD-to-SATA adaper, to try amiboot.rom

Anyway, i packed the laptop and put in in the trunk - will try to find a proper service center.

It seems that i solved the "cant talk" problem, but my clan mates told me that they hear me very badly and there is some noise in background.

Could anyone tell me how to solve this, or where are the main Microphone tools ? I seriously am not able to remove the bakground noise. Also, is this mic good quality ?

Sound is above solid, but the mic....i am starting to think its some cheap crap because i tried everything and it just doesnt work. Thanks in advance for ANY answer, sadly

Wasn't there some issue with the mic holes being cut into the plastic (by MSI) on the left hand side of the camera and the mic actually being installed on the right hand side? I thought I read that someone cut a small hole in the right side of the plastic and all his mic problems went away.
