All of the resellers listed on page one of this thread offer spare AC adapters and batteries as options with a new sale. You might call one of them and see if you can order a spare :)

Yes, its quite normal. It shouldn't get so hot that it burns you, but it definitely gets hot enough that holding it is uncomfortable.

    Hello everyone!

So I finally got my gt780dx, and I must say this thing is friggin awesome! Keyboard led's came out perfect, no dead pixels, etc. Xoticpc was awesome!

But now, I have a problem with the actual pc's preformance. I've OC'd to 750/1500/1500 under it's standard voltage, yet I still can't seem to get good fps on some of the more hi-end video games. I've tried stone giant to test out my laptop, and the fps would go from 40fps to 20fps on the max resolution. Shouldn't this thing be flying above 60fps on stone giant?!?!? I have to be doing something wrong here.

If anyone has any helpful information to share with me, that would be awesome. :] Thanks in advance.

That actually was with afterburner on. It's set at 750/1500/1500. I want to .9v my gpu but Apparently the only altering program requires a donation. :(
I'm not sure what else I'm missing to tweak this badboy up lol.

Driver 295.18 has a new method of antialiasing called FXAA

29x Series GeForce Driver release - LaptopVideo2Go Forums

Replace the nvam.inf in the display driver folder with the INF Modified

During driver installation choose custom installation, uncheck the parts you don't want and check WMI.

I uncheck the 3D stuff, nvidia audio and nvidia update.

Now check the Perform Clean Installation box.

You'll get Unsigned driver warning, install anyway.

    When finished,reboot.

Make sure the Turbo button is on or the over lock settings don't get applied. I score 3600 in 3dmark at 800 core. Pretty sure your Turbo button isn't on.

For whatever reason, when I have after burner and overdrive on at the same time now the 3dmark test stops half way through. there's a bit of (interlacing?) Gray-looking lines that pop up during the test. The screen also blinks a couple of times too. So I guess the last test I did was with after burner off or something? o-O

I'm running Afterburner at 750/1500/1500. Should this be lower?

When turbo is off the MSI afterburner clocks are not applied, looks like your core is overclocked too far. 1500 Is pretty low for the memory.

hi all I haven't been through the whole thread yet but was wondering if this spec notebook MSI GX780-013US Intel Core i7 2630QM 12GB 750GB DVD 17.3IN NVIDIA GT 555M 1GB W7HP USB3 Notebook - MSI/MicroStar - 9S7-176112-013 had the 17.3 matte screen everyone's talking about? I could care less about the video card, I'm more concerned about the HD performance, cpu performance, clarity of the screen since I got to see a lot of tiny numbers on many windows and of course the 1080 p goodness so I can 24 table on poker!

Technically I'm buying it for "gaming" needs but my game does not need 60 fps ;) just wondering if that's a good buy?

My GX780 came with the glossy screen which I find better for reading than a matte screen.

to this day I have no idea the difference between the matte and glossy to be frank but all i care is the 1080 p resolution, it is a shame I got to buy a laptop in this league (1k+) just to get such a resolution

thanks for the reply guess I should buy it before there are none left

Sorry guys, i've tried google, this thread, the recovery disks and the drivers disk that comes with the laptop, but yet i haven't found the webcam driver. I even tried the msi page, but they say "This device uses the native driver bundled in operating system."
Can someone help me where to find it? I haven't used the webcam yet and i also have an Unknown Device in my Device Manager.

    Thanks in advace

I'm having a weird issue with this machine. Whenever anything is plugged into the USB port (tried mouse and camera), it freezes up on boot. Just stays on MSI logo forever. If I pull out the device, it proceeds with boot immediately.

WTH? I checked in BIOS, my boot order is set correctly (RAID is first).

i was thinking about the display set up and options in Nvidia control panel. If i have base values and i do not use Cinema Pro, the colors arent real at all, and the higher brightness doesnt help it too.

What i discovered some time ago, for anyone who wants to make the colors look better, is if you turn on the Cinema Pro, Increase brightness too 100% if you havent done so previously, and then go to Nvidia driver and go to Display > Adjust desktop color settings > Apply the following enchantments > Digital Vibrance.

And increase digital vibrance to around 65-70%....i was surprised how great colors i had after this adjustment. Not only it looks better in every game i play, especially indie one, Dungeon Defenders, but it also look good when watching Tv series and films, least but not last Youtube videos, mainly music clips.

    Hope someone find this useful.

Just popping by to say "hi" to you all: I received my GT780DXR-446US from Ken / GenTech yesterday and I'm very pleased with it so far. Like many I was torn between the MSI and similar offerings from ASUS and Alienware, but after a great deal of soul searching I finally settled on the MSI (which was helped in no small part by this very thread; thank you all for taking the time to post your experiences with this laptop along with all its pros and cons, etc.)

I would also like to say that Ken was extremely helpful, courteous and prompt in replying to all of the questions that I sent his way: I can see why he has a reputation here as somebody that can be relied upon for assistance, etc. and I would definitely recommend them to anybody who is thinking of buying one of these laptops.

Again, many thanks to a great number of you who (unwittingly) steered me in the right direction here. This is a great thread that contains some really useful information, thank you!

Another thing you can try to play with video settings is this Video > Adjust Video Color Settings > 2. How do you make color adjustments > With Nvidia settings - And change the following values :

    Color Tab
    --
    Brightness 45%
    Contrast 75%
    Hue 180
    Saturation 60%
    --
    Gamma
    --
    Red - 0.90
    Green - 0.90
    Blue - 0.90
    --
    Advanced
    --
    Dynamic Range - Full
    Dynamic Contrast enchantment - unchecked
    Color Enchantment - checked

Notes : it doesnt seem like these last two values would have any effect on the video whatsoever. Same could be said about "Dynamic Range" in "Advanced tab".

There also seems to be no way around the issues that is probly only on matte screens, if you go to 0:35 in the video that is used for testing purposes, you can see the black making squares in the image. This setting downgrade such negative effect, but its not drastic change.

However, there is probably a way around it if you play with the "Brightness" / "Contrast" slides in "Color Tab" and with "Gamma" tab in the same category.

tested on this clip - Katty Perry ft. Kanye West - E.T. | Youtube
    -------------

I would like to know if anyone else tried to play with scren adjustment settings, and if anyone could possibly try from now on, to reduce the black square effect in the video after the 0:35 point.

EDIT 1 : I Have a beast matte LCD monitor Acer GD245HQBID so i will test the Video on it as well, since it might be just the Laptop screen and not matte's issue in general.
