Who is ready to pimp out their MSI with Golden Thermal Paste?

Well this is after 1 hour PUBG. When I saw the 99 C , I turned T.fans on. I'm really disappointed with this performance @woodzstack @ThatOldGuy @Mr. Fox
GPU temps are okay but CPU makes me confused about if it is really delidded or not.
What do you guys suggest to do ? Im living in Turkey and sending laptop to Canada totally costs me 2 weeks probably

Eurocom does not automatically delid the CPU... which is a mistake, because they may mix up who asks for it.
I would open it up. Get a cpu delidder from ebay

The CPU and GPU heatsinks are independent of on another. So only need to do a CPU repaste... Follow a liquid metal guide for best results.Papusan, hmscott and CuttingEdge_ like this. -

Actually, why not ship it to Eurocom Europe? Couldn't they honor the warranty? They are in Czech Republic @Eurocom Supporthmscott and CuttingEdge_ like this. -
Great info.Thanks mate
I didnt know they have an Europe team. That should be great if it is an option.
I sent a support ticket and mail as well. Waiting for response.hmscott, ThatOldGuy and Mr. Fox like this. -
Probably best. Something looks wrong. I see 1.362V in HWiNFO64, which is enough voltage for 5.2GHz on all 3 of my 7700K. For stock you need no more than 1.075-1.100V, and around 1.150V is enough for 4.7GHz. If you already tried undervolting and voltage and temps are still that high, that ain't right.
If you have tried undervolting using an offset, check to be sure you changed the plus (+) to a minus (-) because that will really cause some major heat. You would be overvolting, not undervolting, if it is set to + instead of - for the offset.CuttingEdge_, Papusan, hmscott and 2 others like this. -

Been doing some more stress testing, and even at stock speeds with a -125 mV undervolt, I'm still seeing CPU temperatures in the 90s under an AIDA64 stress test. The voltage on the CPU spikes up to almost 1.2v, which seems high, especially given the larger undervolt. The GPU is also getting very hot (90s), and the system is unable to achieve even 90% in the 3DMark Firestrike stress test at stock speeds. I checked inside to try and tighten the heatsink screws, and saw that it looks like one of the ones on the GPU was stripped as I could turn it endlessly. Also, I saw some of the yellow adhesive tape that holds some of the wires and other components to the motherboard on the housing of the CPU bracket, which I don't imagine is good for thermal conductivity.
I've filed a ticket with @Zoltan@HIDevolution to see what we can do about this.hmscott likes this. -

Perhaps this is what you are seeing. If so, that is a good thing and expected. It will not be having any effect on thermals unless it is placed on top of the IHS and interferes with contact. It's there for protection against liquid metal paste getting into the socket area.

That looks like way too much LM IMO. -
Nope, it's just right. Very thin layer painted on both contact surfaces, with no extra to squish out. That's how I have been applying it for almost 4 years. Plus, with the Kapton tape and foam barriers as extra insurance if I decide to carry it on its side or in a backpack, there is no place for it to go. It cannot escape. I have taken my machines apart several times and none has dripped as long as the heat sink fit is correct. (If the heat sink fit is sloppy loose as some are, it will drip and the liquid metal will do a very poor job of cooling because it requires good contact.) I don't even replace the liquid metal, just get the black swab or brush and smooth it out again and slap it back together. Temps are the same as before I took it apart.Last edited: Sep 29, 2017Ground_Zro, leftsenseless, t456 and 2 others like this.

I used -0,85mV on PUBG.
This is the 1,1V static stress test on XTU with no Turbo fan but in auto mode it was loud. Also I used Zalman zm-nc1000nt as a cooler.Attached Files:

That seems like some improvement with things heading in the right direction. With stock clocks I suspect you can run static voltage at 1.060V or 1.075V. You should give that a try. With 1.100V you could likely run 46x4 with little or no change in temps. You could try that also.Huniken, Papusan and CuttingEdge_ like this.

@Mr. Fox
I tried 1,065V and -0,065mV offset but got crash. Im not sure about using offset with cache and core voltage.Last edited: Sep 29, 2017 -

My understanding is copper is still a better heat conductor then liquid metal paste, thus reducing it to the minimum needed to make the absolute best contact, with smoother surfaces mind you, is best. It's not just about it spreading and moving. having 100 microns extra LM than needed conducts that much less heat. Though, it would make up for extra ridgy surface, which lets face it, its very hard to have molecular smoothness, even a mirror shine is not perfect on that level.
just my thoughts, no offense or anything. In terms of performance, the difference between my way and your way MIGHT be within the margin of error and hard to tell, but scientifically speaking, less(while being enough) is more(in terms of heat conductivity), don't you agree ? -
woodzstack Alezka Computers , Official Clevo reseller.
thats very low voltage. You might not be able to hold a good Overclock underload with that voltage easily. This is where you would find disparity between chips sometimes. If I understand correctly, 1.1v-1.3v is the range for like 4.3Ghz to 4.7Ghz-ish for full performance. Like sometimes you can have the clock stay, but it underclocks under load with less voltage, or in benches it produces lower than average results at that clock.
this si my thoughts, minus knowing your clockspeed. (you were not addressing me, mind you, so hope it didn't bother you that I added my thoughts)UsmanKhan and CuttingEdge_ like this. -

Yes, those temps are definitely too high. Just wanted to put you at ease about the Kapton tape.
Which part of the GPU heat sink has a stripped screw? On the spring tension arms, or where the finger attaches to the CPU heat sink?saturnotaku likes this. -

Thanks. It's strange because idle temps are quite good - low 40s for both the CPU and GPU, but they heat up really quickly under load. I'm not sure to what exactly this can be attributed. In any case, I'm hoping they grant an RMA to look at it, and it's not a bad time for me to be without the machine as I've got plenty of games to play on my PSTV, plus hockey and the fall TV season are kicking off.

I am confident they will take care of it for you. @Ted@HIDevolution @Donald@HIDevolution @thattechgirl_viv and @Zoltan@HIDevolution run a good operation and want happy customers (as you already know).
Did you see if you could get that one screw to come out? Maybe it is the wrong size or something. If it is stripped, then they will likely have to replace the support plate (x-bracket) to fix that.hmscott, saturnotaku and Papusan like this. -

Zoltan replied to my ticket with the same suggestion. I'll look at it tonight. -
If the screw is the wrong size, borrow one from the CPU heat sink connection until you send it back for them to look things over. Those screws are the same size as the screws on the GPU spring tension arms.Papusan and Donald@Paladin44 like this.

I bet that's just an advertising shot, rather than being any kind of wallpaper. You know your F5 is upgradeable already, do you have to tell yourself that multiple times per day! I reckon the stone cliffs in the behind the laptop would be a pretty good wall paper though.Mr. Fox likes this. -
Additional information regarding the recent CCleaner APT security incident

"New analysis from the Avast Threat Labs
We would like to update our customers and the general public on the latest findings regarding the investigation of the recent CCleaner security incident. As published in our previous blog posts (here and here), analysis of the CnC server showed that the incident was in fact an Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) attack, targeting specific high-tech and telecommunications companies. That is, despite the fact that CCleaner is a consumer product, the purpose of the attack was not to attack consumers and their data; instead, the CCleaner customers were used to gain access to corporate networks of select large enterprises.
Today, we are going to disclose new facts about the incident that we received since the last public update." -

I left my laptop on for pretty much the entire weekend without shutting it down using it to watch movies while I was laying in bed on normal fans and I did not see temps go above 65 for cpu or GPU, granted I was not gaming but I think my office and where I used it at work is just warmer than normal and that's why I have always thought my temps were a little bit higher than they should be. Need to get a good gaming session in when I am at home on my laptop but I was impressed by what the temps stayed at leaving it on for 2 and a half days.

Unless I'm misunderstanding what you said here, the poster wants the wallpaper image that was used on the laptop, not the picture of the laptop itself.ThatOldGuy and Robbo99999 like this. -
I think I saw the original images at one point and they were not FHD resolution (based on my memory, was some time ago).
If you like wallpaper of landscaping and nature, let me know. I have some I can upload for you.
I think the laptop was actually in the photos when it was taken and not super-imposed over another image. Not sure they have any images without the laptop, but it never hurts to ask.Last edited: Oct 2, 2017 -

hi guys,
i insalled a 1070 but i get no response from the monitor
iconnected a external monitor from the HDMI and i get image, but i cant install the drivers for the 1070
maybe the old bios/EC is the problem
sorry for the bad english -
That could be it. What GPU did you have before? 980M?Erick182 likes this.

i used a 970m for 1 year
also aida 64 recognizes the 1070 but not the internal monitor and the device manager only shows the generic microsoft video driver -
You may need to mod the driver INF file. That probably will not fix the black display, but it should let you use it over HDMI and install the drivers.

Is your monitor eDP or LVDS? I believe certain video cards are made for LVDS connections and other are EDP? I could be wrong, but perhaps you have the wrong revision card? I'm sure someone will fry my guts for saying something wrong, but make sure the videocard supports the proper displayport output. If it only supports eDP and your monitor is LVDS, you wont get a signal.
I know nothing about this, but perhaps there is another video bios you can try?
I don't recognize the video Bios you have at all. I've never seen that revision before.
Maybe can you try one of these?
