I would go a step further and use the Clevo forum, as it's a Clevo not an MSI whitebrand.

LOL. Well 19.50 is working great. It's funny how Killer was on the other end of this causing all sorts of problems.

Seems others are using the 20.x drivers without issue, might be some issue due to something else I have installed, though I'm pretty light on extra software.

I had no problems with the 20.x Intel drivers. Didn't try the absolute newest driver, but I guess I'll be forced to when my 9260 comes tomorrow.

I just tried my last resort which was going into the driver control panel and doing an "update driver" from there on the WiFi adapter and pointing it to the directory with the .inf and the driver files. All hell broke loose, took me a couple BSODs on reboot to finally get back into that and do a "rollback driver". Forget it. I'll stick with 19.50.1.6

    HI,
I have just gone thru this process with my 120hz screen. Contact svet in the MSI forum, for some donation he can make an unlocked bios for the machine, which has solved my problem as well. He is really helpful, the whole process is well detailed, so it is easy to do it. I think the new bios could solve your issue with the brightness as well.

i already contact him,im waiting an answer. I don’t know if he can solve with a bios update. He said to contact eurocom but I think that is a bit different my situation, because the eurocom f5/evoc 16L1080 have the 120hz display “officially”. so they must give the support for it, but for this 4k display is different, they can say “for us is not an option”.
Even bro @j95 try to help for it. We will see in these days.. i will update you and the other users. Stay tuned :)

So...looking for a little help here.

"Thank you for this, installed this over the one on Eurocoms website and I now have the option to disable the trackpad when a usb device is plugged in, and FN+F3 is working for me to manually disable it where it was not before. Appreciate the link."

When I got my laptop I had posted about the fn+f3 combo not working to disable my trackpad. When I reinstalled windows on my laptop I reinstalled the latest synaptics drivers and I could not disable the touchpad again. I dug back through this thread to find my original post about it and Mr. Fox had linked these older drivers that were supposed to resolve the issue, and at the time they did. Now I have tried uninstalling my current drivers and installing this version previously linked however the FN+F3 combo still does not work to disable it. All other fn+xx key combinations work fine that I have tried. Does anyone have any ideas why this may be happening? Very grateful that Mr. Fox never deleted from his google drive after he left us but I am so annoyed and running out of ideas why this isn't working after trying newer drivers as well as older ones that I knew worked at one point.

Edit: And I know I can use "disable touch pad when USB mouse is plugged in" and that does work, but my issue with it is that I keep a wireless mouse receiver plugged into my laptop all the time unless I need the third usb port, and even if the mouse is off and I am not using it, it detects the dongle as a mouse being plugged in and shuts off my pad so that is why I cannot reasonably use this option as a full solution.

The FN+F3 combo does not work if the PS/2 driver is installed. It requires the smbus driver to be installed.
There may be a way to get the ps/2 driver to still be installed and maintain FN+F3 working. One of the driver "Types" in the package gives you a bit high DPC latency when you move the mouse or even touch the trackpad(!). Not high as in bad high, but still like 100 above normal. The PS/2 driver does not cause that. The driver that does has much smoother mouse movement speed (like a higher polling rate or something). But there's a way to get the lower polling one installed and still have FN+F3 working.

Try this driver. Fn+F3 to disable the trackpad works on my machine with it installed.

Nope. He was just saying he never had problems with his Killer adapter when I was talking about the latest Intel drivers causing me blue screens.

In more news on the BSOD front, I was playing prey and that had a BSOD for the first time in many hours. Using the old intel drivers this time that were, I thought, working fine.

Got a little tired of all this so I configured driver verifier to watch for potential violations on all my drivers and low and behold it was catching a violation for winio64.sys, which is part of MSI Shortcut Manager. I uninstalled that. It hasn't yet caught anything else, but there's a chance that software was causing the problem the whole time.

I just reinstalled 20.10.2.2 Intel drivers again to see if they suddenly work fine now that I've uninstalled MSI Shortcut Manager. We shall see.

See the below response. I totally understand your defensive posture, but I was simply engaging in some good-natured ribbing. I was a hater myself, but you guys have really gotten your act together on the software front.

The only piece of MSI software I use on my machine is Silent Option to control fan speeds. Everything else is pretty worthless.

According to msi, "SCM" (not the same as "shortcut manger", not confusing at all) is also required for "silent option" to work.

Hello guys it's my first post and I'd like to know if the Eurocom Tornado F5(and in general the MSI 16L13) does have a HI-RES DAC like to GT62VR (ESS Sabre up to 192kHz and 24bit) to driver High-Impedance headphones. Thanks. Also wondering if the Eurocom 3 years warranty is
transferable: I'm probably going to buy a second hand Tornado F5, can I use this warranty?

That's not correct because I don't have that software installed, and Silent Option works perfectly fine.

Well, that's nice! I think I'll remove SCM as well then. I was just looking at this post and assumed that was the case: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=255972.0

EDIT: I see they say it's not required for Skylake, which I would imagine would also hold true for Kaby Lake.. nevermind! thx!

I have to EDIT again, it appears Silent Option can't see the fan speed or CPU and GPU temps after uninstalling SCM, it worked before hand.

EDIT3: OMG how many times am I going to edit this. So I found a slightly newer build of Silent Option than the one that came with the notebook, after installing that one it seems that it works fine without SCM now.

Well.. I re-installed MBAM, DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION on the 2nd scan, pointing at nvidia.
I didn't reboot after installing MBAM again, but it doesn't ask to even though it does install a driver. Theoretically you shouldn't need to but I usually do anyway. So I then rebooted twice. Ran like 15 scans in a row with zero issues. Opened chrome did a few things, loaded Prey for a few minutes and ran around a level. Ran like 10 more MBAM scans with no problem. Reboot for the hell of it and the notebook locks up during boot, no BSOD. GAAAAAHHH..

So I'm uninstalling MBAM and SCM. I did get through around 5 hours of Prey (All hail 0200 gaming :p) with no crashes on 20.10.2.2 Intel drivers, so that's good news.

I literally have like ZERO crazy extra junk on my laptop except:
MSI tools: Shortcut Manager, SCM, Silent Option and Keyboard LED Manager (I like a dull red backlight, easy on the eyes in the dark).
    nVidia driver + GFE (388.71)
Macrium Reflect (latest 7.1.2801, has drivers, but I've been using it forever with zero issues)
    Greenshot (screen capture)
    Steam (who doesn't run this)
Keypirinha (just a python app for alt+space spotlight type thing)
Intel WiFi + BT (20.10.2.2 now, 19.50.1.6 before.. never caused any issues until recently)
Killer E2500 LAN (9.0.0.42, provided by Microsoft.. never use the LAN, I'm always wireless, had the same driver since i got this laptop)
    Windows Defender (whatever..)

I mean there's really no bloat hanging out that isn't useful except SCM I guess and that doesn't even load a driver. I suppose I could disable the Killer LAN since I never use it just to remove another resident driver, I highly doubt it's causing issues.

I mean the 20.10.2.2 Intel driver seems finally extremely stable after removing MSI Shortcut Manager. This is all very weird. I FUUU...DGING hate to do it but it might be a good idea just to reinstall Win 10 from scratch.. UGH.

Now that I think about it maybe all this drama started after the Fall creator's update and Shortcut Manager wasn't compatible for some reason, and neither is MBAM?

As a last ditch effort, try uninstalling the keyboard light manager (the backlight still works with the button next to the power one though it's white which I know is not ideal) and/or dropping back your NVIDIA driver to version 388.00.

Well i hear ya but the 8700k really outshines the 7700k in gaming benchmarks. Im gonna be spending $3000 plus on my gaming machine and I really cant justify getting something that has last gen hardware. I can wait if thats the case. I just dont want to settle for what i can get right now im not in a rush like i mean i dont need it right now. I can game on my xbox 1s or ps4 slim for now. Im supposed to wait for my birthday anyway which is in april.

Eurocom said they (MSI) were passing on implementing the z370 and therefore the 8700k in favor of waiting for the z390 and 8c/16t CPU's to arrive before refreshing the MSI 16L13 that the Eurocom F5 is based on.

There are rumors that the z390 is coming in the 1Q18, so you might not have long to wait. The original date given by Eurocom months ago was 2H18 (3Q18 - 4Q18).

So the 16L13 might be right around the corner, or off till the end of next year (2018). :)

Do you think a 15" laptop can handle an 8c/16t Intel CPU? I'm a bit skeptical on that, maybe if it's a non-K verison (as in not overclockable).

Eurocom also said that MSI is coming out with a 17.3" version when rolling out the z390 refresh. I don't know if MSI / Eurocom plan on putting the 8c/16t only in the 17.3" models, and limit the 15.6" model to the 6c/12t 8700K - if that CPU works in the z390! - time will tell. :)

Why would they skip the z370? 8700k is a gaming beast. I would order from Hidevolution so does that mean the EVOC 16l they sell is skipping the 8700k as well?? It doesnt make sense to me to skip the 8700k when it performs so well. Esp considering they have no clue how much heat a 8c 16t cpu will produce nor how it performs in gaming. 8700k has proven to be top dog why would they skip it??

Likely because of the cost of redoing the motherboard and components so quickly back to back, betweeen z370 and z390.

MSI might have already suspected Intel was going to accellerate the z390 timeline and didn't want to "waste" resources on the z370 when the z390 was going to show up earlier than announced.

    Here is Eurocom's original post:
Maybe Eurocom can give us an updated timeline to expect their z390 models?

Unless MSI release's a z370 version of the MSI 16L13 white box all the vendors will need to wait for MSI to release the z390 model's (15.6" and 17.3") to refresh their product lines.

Dam ok. Well ive waited this long i guess i can wait a little longer lol. But it wont be easy. I mean it just doesnt make sense because this is primarily a gaming laptop and an 8c 16t cpu isnt going to really do much for gaming right?? And with the high core counts i wonder what clock speeds will look like?? Do you think they will overhaul the cooling then too?? I mean 8 cores is gonna make some major heat esp since in a desktop cpu in a laptop.

Well, it can go either way really. If the cooling in the existing 15.6" model is enough for the 6c/12t 8700 series MSI might just leave the design as is, and put effort into the 17.3 design for cooling the 8c/16t.

Eurocom's comments suggest MSI will put the 8c/16t z390 into both models, and if so MSI might redesign the cooling if needed.

And, there's no direct statement about 6c/12t models yet either, so we really don't know the range of cooling required until more info is leaked or officially published. :)

The BGA versions of the 8700 will be announced and shipping soon too, and the i9 replacement for the 7820HK might be "good enough" to consider buying with a 1080 / 1070 instead of waiting.

From previous experience I've found the best combination of noise, weight, and price with gaming and application performance as good or "close enough" is available with a good OC'd BGA laptop. The additional "benchmark" performance boost with LGA CPU's is "lost" when gaming by G-sync / RTSS frame limiting anyway.

But, if you want the full desktop CPU LGA experience in the MSI 16L13 form factor, you'll have to be patient and wait.

Or, get a Clevo 8700K laptop model... very heavy and too noisy for my use when actually pushing full performance, but some enjoy the furious noise to go along with the whole "show". :)

Well, the leaks call the unlocked HK model CPU an i9, but we don't know much about it, we'll have to wait for offical launch info to know for sure, until then here are some rumors and leaks:

Expect low clocks. It's a 6 core 45w BGA chips. Can't have both... High clocks and low TDP. It's against the law of physics. Expect 4 bin lower clocks vs. todays Kaby lake.
