Yeah I guess I never saw low frame rates for FO4 @4k. Doom on ultra is consistently 60fps. W3 is the only game that drops to 30 for me.

Recent bios is now locked. Out of my control, but it was NOT locked before, they are being received LOCKED.

On side note, I have a few left that are NOT locked, and I also have the 780W PSU. The build quality is amazing on this PSU! I love it. Stays cool, looks good, and is a solid piece of craftsmanship.

Those unlocked ones are the newer laptops that support the 7700k?

i think unlocked ones are the first batch of 7700k shipment. @Rage Set got the 1st kaby lake and it was unlocked. others have most likely locked @4.4. the one with locked multiplier can not be downgraded i think. u can however try to contact Svet over MSI forums, i believe he found a way to unlocked the the newer bios.

Yes, definitely contact SVET. I have the 309 BIOS (the 7700K supported bios) unlocked by him (i believe i was the first one, since it took him some time). I have 6700K, but i also have 7700K that have still not installed :) And he said there should be no issues.

every review done today showing the same result. the cpu is a beast in workstation, multi threading 3d applications. but fails when it comes to gaming when cpu is not bottleneck.

I don't trust Tom's Hardware. They gimp all thier reviews, and have always been biased.
For instance, they are not even reporting what these CPU's actually clock at easily, in some cases the older AMD CPU they downclocked it to match the rated speed of the others.
It doesn't work like that, otherwise I would go fetch my 4.3Ghz HT enabled P4 CPU and compare that to Rysen's lower end CPU and underclock the P4 to 3.0Ghz and see how it fares.

for instance : if you are going to compare 6700K or 7700K, then put them at 5.0Ghz and get the Rysen CPU at whatever speed works for it. It might be further in INTEL's favor, but it would be a better real world test of how it's going to be used IMO.
But to bring in a few years old CPU from AMD as well, just to place it at the bottom, and also underclock it, is just stupid and shows they are being biased. Things are not identical when they are at the same rated Mhz, it's like comparing how smart people are based on thier height.

It's true, based on the Guru3D article I read - Ryzen no good for 144Hz gaming is my conclusion. Intel is clocking higher than Ryzen during overclocking and performing better at high framerates - hence the 144Hz comment I made. I'm interested to see how the smaller brothers will perform, the Ryzen CPUs with only 4 & 6 cores - I think they will overclock higher than the 8 core monster and consequently be better gaming performers. Ryzen also has a gaming performance issue when hyperthreading is enabled - disable hyperthreading & then gaming performance increases - they need to fix this.

Here's the link to the article:
    http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/amd-ryzen-7-1800x-processor-review,1.html

Here's a link to a page in the discussion that might be interesting (where hyperthreading issue is discussed too, hyperthreading issue not discussed in actual article above though) (look in earlier couple of pages too):

I thought Eurocom answered your question. If you didn't purchase the notebook from them, they will charge you for the BIOS.

I think ryzen is a much better option than intel right now, especially for future proofing. Intel is stuck at their lame 4 cores while ryzen has 8 which may not have the highest clock speeds but you can definitely do more at the same time. Price is also pretty much way better too. Intel needs innovate and try like amd. Look at how they made an 8 core CPU with only 65 watts of power needed. My 6700k needs about 90 and that's pretty sad. Rather the extra cores, better performance in many apps at a time, and lower heat output than an overpriced intel. :/

About the Bios on my order from HIDevolution, Ted replied:

"Huniken , we are working with Prema to get his special treatment on a fully customizable BIOS. This will allow for overclocking of the CPU and RAM, among other features. I don’t have an ETA of when it will be ready, but when it is we will reach out to you to remotely flash your system.

    Thank you,

Delid Result so far: 5.0 is reached at 75C with normal ambient temps (82C before delid). I may have to repaste my GPU yet again, the temps are slightly higher than before. I pasted with ICD. I'm going to try my other pastes.

    My new Firestrike score: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/11866693
It's nowhere near Mr. Fox's but it is getting better.

I use Throttlestop and sometimes XTU. I do have unlocked BIOS but even before then, I was able to OC the CPU with the original Eurocom BIOS.

Let me go into a little more detail on my delid process. I went with the HIDevolution method of a delid, LM between the die and IHS, ICD between the IHS and heatsink until I can make sure my heatsink has good contact with pressure paper. I am going to try some copper shims/LM soon as well. My goal is 5.0 at the high 60'sC with my "garage" cooler and then I will work on 5.1.

Hey guys so I'm having an odd problem. I have 4x8GB of RAM installed for a total of 32GB. BIOS, CPU-Z, and HWINFO all confirm that. However windows does not. According to System and Task Manager I only have 16GB installed. I'm on Windows 10 Pro, with a 7700k, reinstalled windows twice with different images as well, checked that Max Memory in System Config isn't set, updated all drivers. Not really sure what else to do. Any thoughts?

Have you tried resetting the EC (the pinhole on the bottom of the laptop) or loading the defaults in the bios? Any chance you could get something like a Linux live disk and see what it reports in there when booting?

Yeah I do not understand it either. I also asked why the same bios was UNLOCKED before and is now LOCKED.
The only response when I asked about the bios was "go see Mr.Fox" .
@Mr. Fox Maybe you can weigh in, why would I be referred to you for this issue ?

(I literally have no idea why or how your involved.)

New amazing firestrike benchmark, 19,708! http://www.3dmark.com/fs/11873926

That's probably my best until I add LM on top of the IHS. I'm going to experiment with different pastes for the GPU as well. I will reach 20K!!!

Have you tried a full NVRAM reset? Unfortunately, that requires you to remove the mobo to get to the CMOS battery.

I would also suggest a full NVRAM clear like @Rage Set suggested. Do you happen to have another laptop you can test the ram in? You may also try swapping sticks between the upper and lower slots. If they have never worked, it could be a faulty motherboard.

I love gaming but benching has a special place in my heart. It is exhilarating to take hardware to its limits, knowing that you could possibly cause damage but you risk it anyway to show you can master the many variables that OC'ing requires.

Dude future proofing is $hit, get that $hit out of here, you want future proof, get a desktop.

You really dont understand how processors work do you. Right now, 99% of games dont use more than 4 cores and lots of people are playing more games than doing other "stuff". Those 65 watts of power is thermal rating not how much power the processor uses. Sometimes thermal rating doesnt mean anything, look at the 7700(non K), its rated at 65w, the K version is 91w. If you clock both at 4.0gz, it will use the same amount of wattage. The K version is higher because is overclocks.

If you're so sad about that 6700k, give it to me and get a Zen processor.

I agree however with the sentiment that the 6700K is best inclass CPU for the price ATM.

Be a little nice. Info for you as well. Higher TDP doesn't indicate that the chips can or will overclock!!

    TDP
"Thermal Design Power (TDP) represents the average power, in watts, the processor dissipates when operating at Base Frequency with all cores active under an Intel-defined, high-complexity workload"

Edit: And see also why gamers now want more cores than 4

The EUROCOM Tornado F5 high-performance laptop is now available through www.BestBuy.ca.

“We are extremely pleased to offer our high-performance EUROCOM Tornado F5 laptop to Canadians through BestBuy.ca. We have added two different configurations online so users can choose the best performance level for their needs,” says Mark Bialic, Eurocom President.

The EUROCOM Tornado F5 supports NVIDIA GeForce graphics, an Intel Core i7 processor, and four memory slots in a 15.6” chassis for mind blowing performance in a highly mobile chassis.

Being fully upgradeable the EUROCOM Tornado F5 can support a variety of MXM 3.0b graphics cards including next generation NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 and 1060 graphics. Utilizing an Intel Z170 Chipset and LGA1151 socket gives the EUROCOM Tornado F5 the ability to support the Intel Core i7 6000 series up to 6700K as well as the i7-7000 series up to 7700K processors managing up to 64 GB DDR4 memory. Four drives are supported for up to 6 TB of storage with two M.2 SSDs and two HDD/SSD.

The internal components of the EUROCOM Tornado F5 are easily accessible to allow users the ability to upgrade chosen components to increase performance, capacity, and lifespan.

The EUROCOM Tornado F5 is equipped to take full advantage of the desktop Intel processors and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 or 1060 graphics due to their high-quality copper heatsinks, high-speed fans and use of Innovation Cooling Diamond 24 carat diamond thermal compound. Low temperatures in a laptop computer contribute to long-term stability.
