DisplayPort to MST hub to get up to 3x external displays. You can select the amount of ports and connector type that you need.

Plus I believe the MST hub counts a single monitor for the purposes of counting how many you have active when considering the max number of outputs.

    thanks for the response.

I kind of meant 3 screes as in, the laptop screen, one connected to the hdmi port, and one connected to an adaptor from the minidisplayport.

I was planning on just buying an displayport > hdmi adaptop, but reading amazing reviews it seems to be pretty common for them not to work in some set ups, or for them to be faulty. Hence I'm asking whether anybody knows some good options to take.

I'm also in need for some option to be able to connect to a vga projector with. and I'm wondering if there's a good displayport to vga option, or if going from hdmi to vga would be a better idea.

So the three buttons on the top right... Left is to turn fans on max (6000rpm) and the Right button is power on/off. What is the middle button, though? Thanks!

The button in the middle changes the keyboard LED lighting. In my case (GE62 6QF Apache Pro) it cycles between:

    1)Fixed multicolor keyboard.
2)Variable color keyboard: one color for the whole keyboard, changes color every 3-4 seconds with pulsed, fade-in / fade-out effects.
3)Variable color keyboard: one color for the whole keyboard, changes color in a more subtle way, without pulses.
4)Red keyboard with a subtle "wave" effect, a periodic change in lighting intensity from left to right.

This is with the notebook in idle state and factory configuration. When playing games you can configure many different lighting schemes.

Hinges can break down after years of use, but you can prolong their lives by opening the lid from the center to keep weight distribution even.
Opening the lid from one corner can put more stress on that particular side's mechanism.

Arrrhgg... anyone having problems with Sound popping? The default realtek driver which comes with W10 is broken (or something in my PC is) and every time i try to play any media it makes a pop sound and when i put headphones on then there is constant background noise like sssssssssssss... Tried to uninstall the driver but it updated back (fkin autoupdate), tried to block realtek in Device manager, but i didn't had sound, tried installing older driver to solve this but it got overwritten again by the new one. Also it seems like sometimes only one speaker plays. Any idea what else to try?

    EDIT: Merry X-mas guys :)

    Hey guys.

So just wondering a bit about overclocking the 970m gtx. I currently have +100mhz on the core and +50mhz on the memory. Good temps. Does anyone have the unlocked vbios to go beyond the 135? Also can you increase the voltage in Precision X or Afterburner? If any of you guys have done this what were good speeds and what temps did you see.

EDIT: think I found the vbios on page 1 of this thread

    Thanks!

    Hi All,

I just bought an MSI GE62 2QL gaming laptop and I am wanting to play around with adjusting the lighting for my keyboard and i'm realising there is no software (KLM) for this function?
I installed the Steelseries Engine 3 software but I can't get passed the first screen where it asks me to 'plug in a Steelseries device to get started'??

Was this function not meant to be on my model? If not, why not? It just doesn't make sense... The middle button in top right hand corner is a short cut for the Dragon Gaming Centre and not KLM as on other models, however why am I not able to install software so this function can run?

Apologies if this topic was covered previously.

    Thank you.

    Miki

For your information, this system does not have support for SSE but SCM.
Although it is a SteelSeries branded keyboard but it's not the multifunction keyboard.
The overview of product features on GE62 2QL does not say "SteelSeries Engine to customize every key and devices for personalizing your play style".

    Hi Kevin,

    Thank you for your response.
In other words there is no software I can install to activate this as this particular keyboard cannot support it anyway?

    Cheers

    i agree
the spacebar issue alone is enough to avoid this device, and msi altogether until they fix the problem.

I kind of fallen to the same bait - the picture on the website showed that 2QC had multicolor keyboard, however, it turned out to be single color. Yet, i found and bought a multicolor keyboard over the Internet, which says "compatible with all GE62 models". I haven't replaced it yet because I need to completely disassemble the laptop, but hope it will fit.

Hello everyone, I've had the GE62-2QD for 3.5 months now. I was wondering if it would be possible to put in a NVMe SSD into the middle M.2 slot since it is a combo PCIe/SATA port.

hello guys! i just bought MSi ge62-6qc apache machine, and i cannot get it's usb ports to turn off while it is on standby.
other issue is that i had to reinstall that windows 10 because that factory installed 10 home just wouldn't upgrade to 10 pro, not with my old 8 pro retail key or fresh 10 pro retail key.
it would always just start that process and do reboot, after the reboot it said that "this windows version cannot be upgraded" so i was forced to reinstall that windows 10 pro on it by formatting that ssd drive.
after that however i haven managet to get msi true color to install, it just keeps on saying that my machine isn't supported, however it was preinstalled on it when i was using that factory installed windows 10.

Check the bios for USB power options, I would not worry about the true colour software.

i couldn't find anything about usb power, but i however find faq on msi's site saying that it keeps usb ports powered on when you have wake on lan option on. problem is however that i already had that option off in my bios.
but on lighter note i noticed that intel's gpu software let me set color options in a way that it only affected my laptop's screen and my 32 inch tv witch is my main screen while i'm home isn't affected by it.
so basically i can do everything that i could do with the true color thing, i can do with intel's gpu utility. now if only i could get these usb ports to work, then i could say that i would be 99% happy with this laptop.
that 1% comes from that at the online retailer where i bought this laptop, they had picture of this laptop with that rgb multicolored keyboard but this laptop only has that "silver backlight keyboard.
that however is so little issue compared to this usb power issue that i am not so offended by it.

Have you updated the BIOS to the latest version? If it doesn't then we will need to let MSI know that the issue is possibly a BIOS glitch.

Hey guys, I really need your help !

I just bought a MSI ge62 2qf Apache pro with the GTX 970M and an i5-4210H with 16GB RAM, to do some gaming in my spare time but i'm left really disappointed because of some problems and i don't know what to do. I bought it because I heard that the i5 was okay and that the graphic card would allow me to play any games even though it wasn't an i7. I wasn't expecting to play in ultra for every games tbh, I only expected to play in medium and the 970 was the reason i bought the laptop.
So here's my problem : In almost every games i'm having glitches like red, green or blue dots and lines accross the screen, sometimes I have weird shapes popping up. I can't play Fallout 4 for example because there are shapes everywhere and it's unplayable. Depending on the game the glitches are more or less important, but like i said i can't play Fallout 4 even in the lowest settings. Does my laptop have a problem or is it normal with this CPU ? I really hope my graphic card is working properly, i updated the drivers and checked the temperature and it seems okay. Can you guys play recent games in high settings ? I'm really wondering if my laptop has a problem or if i'm just being greedy with this computer.
    Thanks for your help !

PS. Sorry if i sound like a noob, my english is a bit rusty.

Your system performance is fine because it does allows you to play many games at minimum mid-quality settings or above without any issues.
But the particular issue you are having is possibly a defective GPU/VRAM issue.
Please contact local MSI office directly to find out how to return the system back to them under warranty if your system is still under warranty.

No, the system is still under warranty based off your purchase date, but if anything is damaged inside then your bets are off. MSI will charge you if they see CID (customer-induced damage), and the warranty sticker serves as an indication that the system had been tempered and may possibly have CID.

yes i did upgrade the bios/uefi with the file from here http://www.msi.com/product/notebook/support/GE62-6QC-Apache.html#down-bios
update itself went by nicely, but it didn't help with my issue. only thing that i have seen is that wake on lan controls usb power. so if i set wake on lan off it sought stop this usb power on standby nonsense, BUT i still get power on my usb devises even if i set that wake on lan option to off.

I'm seriously contemplating on selling this laptop because of it. I mean I'll be typing and 3/4 of the sentence is strung together.

Other than that it's a fantastic laptop.

But yes, I can't recommend it because of that.

Hello guys, i have a question..
everytime i have a video or a song or any sound starting from my laptop ( ge62 2QF) it takes about 4 to 5 seconds for the sound to completely kick in, it starts very low and then i think the subwoofer kicks in and the sound goes back to normal. Is there anything i can do to fix this?
    thanks in advance :)

It's right there, Advanced -> Super Charger, turn it off which should turn off the power.
I see you had turned it off already.
Also, try enabling ERP Lot 3 support.

Yeah that "super charger works in s3/s4/s5" it was the first setting that I turned off, but it seemed to do absolutely nothing.
Is there anything at all that I can do, or sought I try to contact msi with this issue and hope that they would release bugfix for my laptops bios?

Where sought I send email for? Do they even have email address where common peasant like me can send email abou this?

If you look under support on msi.com there are a group of options to reach out for support.

Always helps to check these things before judging how they will treat you ;)

I have seen similar page. I am a bit worried to block the update as it is a cumulative update. Not sure what it could cause.
Yes at least it is similar except in the video it does when he stops playing any media and mine when it starts. Also i have noticed that right speaker or subwoofer joins in a few seconds later as sometimes the sound sounds flat and after a while it plays a bit louder as it joins in and has more depth.

    EDIT: PROBLEM SOLVED!
It was caused by Realtek Power Management. The only think that helped was editing registry and disabling Sound Card power off. No more cracking/popping sound.

    This is the solution:
