Thats a great relief to hear, thank you.
With an heavy session, you mean a session ~1 hour?
Is there a drawback to undervolting? for example, voiding warranty or a chance that something might break?

Yes the 970M should see you get a very nice experience from all current games. Under VERY heavy loads it may use up to a few percent of battery to keep it going but should give you a smooth experience throughout.

i might just had bad luck with it but my old lappy had bad cooling and temps were high even with disabled Turbo, problem was that it had GPU and CPU on the same heat pipe. The important part is, it died and i wouldn't like to have "multimedia ntb" again just with intergrated graphics card bcs of burned out GPU
i will just hope it won't happen

Am thinking buying MSI G62, for normal use and occasional gaming. should I go for PRO, should upgrade the ram to 16GB?
Or overall this would enough.
Some suggestion would be appreciated.
Thanks -

The 970M is 60-80% faster than the 960M so it's certainly worth it for a gamer.

Some more questions:
I was thinking of adding some more ssd storage,
is this: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-850-EVO-250-MZ-N5E250BW/dp/B00TGIVZTW/ a good choice?
or are there better options?
also, is the warranty sticker on top of the screw just a warning of "if you mess up and break something you're on your own?" -

Sticker is just like tempering proof, as long as you don't cause any visible damages to the system then it won't be considered as "warranty void".gyoung likes this. -

Hello wanted to ask a few questions.
Is it okay to have the laptop plugged and play it without the battery?
Does anyone know the refresh rate on the screen and if you can change it it 75hz if it's 60? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
60hz and as it's connected to the IGP that can't be changed.
You can unplug the battery but you may got throttle under heavy loads as a result. -
I just bought MSI GE62 2QE with pre-installed W8.1 single language. I am planning to install a new m.2 SSD and also perform a clean installation of W10. My current plan:
1) Upgrade to W10 and make sure it's activated.
2) Remove HDD and install the new SSD
3) Clean install W10 and the activation should be done automatically since i upgraded first.
Will this work since my W8.1 is OEM licensed?
ps: I don't plan to keep the recovery partition on my old hdd. Will create a new W10 recovery image after the clean install on my USB drive. -
Are you saying that I will see a dip in performance with no battery? So how would you recommend playing with a gaming laptop under loads? Should I play without the battery and plugged in or just keep the battery in all the time? I just heard that the battery being in constantly is a lot of unnecessary heat being generated and it kind of makes sense from that standpoint.
Also is the OS already downloaded on the SSD when you get it or do you have to switch it from the HDD to the SSD? And who said this thread was dead? I got an answer in a day, thanks Meaker!Last edited: Aug 9, 2015 -

The battery generates no heat when fully charged, just leave it in. Most places will offer to install the os on any drive you order it from. If you put your own ssd in then you will want a proper hdd to ssd cloning tool if you want to keep the recovery image and move over the whole install.

Okay, thanks guys for being so quick on the response! Keep battery in, check.

PS. This laptop have internal battery, so to remove it you must open the back cover. -

Is the power supply 120w enough to feed this hungry notebook? Cpu i7-4720hq need upto 47watt tdp, and gpu itself need upto 81watt. Does anyone know?

It comes with a 150w power supply, which should be enough. I don't think I have heard of any issues with it not being enough.

GPU throttles without battery because of lower power supply wattage. -
i got about 70C on GPU and 85-89 on CPU while playing FarCry4, is it normal? -

It is in clamshell mode plug with 23inch monitor. When i play without monitor in 18°C room temperature, it is steady at 80°C for cpu. It is quite good though.

I'm planning on buying a GE72 from the US and having it brought to India.
MSI is not very established here so I was wondering if any of you had problems with the GE62 (since it's quite similar to the GE72).
I really like the laptop but I don't want to be experiencing after sales issues. What are your opinions?
Also there is a GE72 Apache-264 on newegg for $999. I haven't seen this model elsewhere. Is it worth the risk? -
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Newegg often gets models that are exclusive to them and it appears the 264 is one of them. It looks like a good computer, the only thing to be aware of is the 4th gen i7 CPU as there are models with the 5th gen i7 available now. -
hi guys, im about to buy msi ge62-2qe with Intel Core i7 5700HQ (Broadwell), and GTX 965M
im about to ask about the temps and heat while gaming? is it good?
and also i want to know if its throttling or not , thanks
