Alright guys, I need help. For some dumb reason I updated the intel driver utility and it showed that I could use a newer Intel Chipset driver software (INF Update Utility EXE-only)
And things when downhill when I manually got it to work. Now I realized I shouldnt have tried. Funny thing is a year ago I told myself I am done with this stuff since I had the problem last year where I messed up my laptop and had to clean install. Now my laptop crashes multiple times again after a restart .
The problem is that I cant find the MSI support page for the GS60 2QE...There seems to only be a newer 6QE...Anyone know if I can use all the 6QE stuff or if the 2QE is somewhere else? I would love to see it -

hi there,
just tried to update the BIOS, i copied the file to a USB drive and selected it in the BIOS update after we restart the system
IT SAYS " WRONG IMAGE SIZE"
PLZ HELP -
If anyone's having issue with the fan noises, and if Silent Option doesn't work on your model, there is an alternative called "Dragon Center" (not Dragon Gaming Center) that allows you to control the speed of the fans. I have recently switched from Silent Option to this even though Silent Option works on my machine, and it's working well for me so far.

It might be for desktops re that pic in the prog. I installed it and it really works even for my GT70 0NE, allowing fan control to zero RPM. But the fan kicks back as the temperature approaches about 60C.

Hi everybody,
So I just bought a MSI GS60 4k and I have some issues with it (I saw a lot of people with the same issues)
It's about the screen brightness and the yellows that appears to be mustard.
Is there any way to improve the brightness ? (It is very low even at 100%)
Is there any way to fix the yellow color that is displayed "mustard" ?
Thanks in advance, if a solution already exist, sorry for this question and let me know -

Hi!
I bought my first MSI laptop last year from GenTech (awesome service!) and now I am thinking of upgrading my SSD. I purchased the GS60 Ghost Pro-606 5th gen and I was wondering how many ssd slots the laptop has, because my first idea is to keep the one that came with it and just adding another one. I did research but didn't find the info.
Thank you. -

Your NB has 2x M.2 slots (SATA signal only, without PCIe signal) so the best SSD you can use is 850 Evo.
Additionally, it has a 1x 2.5" SATA slot for HDD storage.
Let me know if you have any questions, thank you.caikovsky likes this. -

Hi, I came upon this thread and have been reading for a while, so I decided to join for a bit.
I got a MSI GS60 2QE Ghost Pro 4K around 6 months ago and have been using it since, mainly for gaming and video editing. The screen resolution has been changed to 1920x1080 so I can run games on higher settings without the chassis getting so hot that I can make an omelette on it. Also, I am using a DeepCool MultiCore X6 cooler, although it's not very effective sometimes (if anyone could share what cooler would be best, that'd be great). Overall great performance and looks, too bad the battery dies at the speed of light, though.
Unfortunately, there are a few things that have been bothering me for a while and I would like to seek advice from people who have owned or own a similar or the same laptop.
1) Sometimes, even while simply browsing and using Skype, the temperature rises to about 60-70°C. I'm running only the absolutely necessary background programs and statistics show I'm using 9% of the Intel i7-5700HQ 2.70 GHz CPU and 4 GB of the 16 GB RAM.
2) There's this weird spiking that appears when the Killer DoubleShot Pro is turned on. Music, videos, even the registering of the moving cursor stutter for a short amount of time when this function is active.
3) Battery drain is abnormally high even when using only browser for watching videos and blogging. Many reviews show it to last around 3 hours for web browsing without videos but I don't even get 2 hours. It's even worse when videos are included and obviously a killer when a game or a photo/video editing software is on.
3) OK, this one could be a bit unrelated but I think things could be connected, so... Long story short, I switched to an iPhone 4S two weeks ago and decided to transfer all my music from my previous cellphone. However, the iTunes system did not recognize the refreshed iPhone. The next day iTunes itself took around 5 minutes to start up and has been that way ever since. I tried using a new cable, re-installing iTunes and activating Bonjour (which appears to be active but is not detected as such).
Thank you.Last edited: Apr 5, 2016 -

DoubleShot is a software feature therefore it can impact performance a bit, and it's always recommended to update the software via component manufacturer's website.
[ Download]
You can use AIDA64 to verify battery's wear and tear level, it is presented to you as in percentile.
It is also possible that the system isn't working as if it were fresh, you can consider going with a system refresh (without deleting your files) to regain the performance and stability. -

Thank you for your prompt replies, Kevin@GenTechPC and Prostar Computer!
I have updated the DoubleShot software and after it was done the connection became limited ("Wi-Fi doesn't have a valid IP configuration" error was found). I fixed it by manually inputting the IP address and DNS server address in the TCP/IPv4 with the cost of the Killer network being offline. I can only suspect the cause for such a thing to happen.
The report from AIDA64 shows 1% wear level.
I have considered going with a system refresh before but the fact that many programs including a number of games will be deleted has stopped me until now. I may just have to do it soon enough.
I am not sure what "removing running any system cleanup utilities" means. I downloaded those and scanned my PC, scanned all discs and cleaned whatever I was sure I wouldn't need. -

Also, I believe I saw somewhere (maybe the GS60 manual) that the HDD slot works with mSATA as well, so this kept me wondering if it changes anything besides the type of the slot.
By the way, is the GPU reaching 85c while playing normal? Because it was not like that before and I think it gets so hot the battery level decreases over time. -
Also keep in mind temperature outside of notebook matters. I had my GS60 already for ~1.5 years. In summer you can get ~10 C higher CPU / GPU temperatures than in winter.
Over long time period there is some small temperature increase from accumulation of dust and degradation of thermal paste, but so far the biggest influence I observed was simply from outside room temperature.
Also, Windows can sometimes mess up CPU temperatures by running its maintenance tasks in the background. Happens fairly often, can easily have one core under full load for some time.caikovsky likes this. -

If you're still having trouble, though, a reset might be next. I hate to recommend those because of how extreme they are, but they can often times save you a lot of time in troubleshooting. -
Completely forgot about the temperature outside of the room. My room was indeed hotter.
Thank you, man! -

What's your existing version? And what's the name of file? -

So, I have been doing a lot of research to keep my drivers up to date including BIOS, VBIOS and EC, but I don't find anywhere the lastest version of my BIOS or if it's compatible with my model.
I looked on MSI's website and on the support tab shows me:
But I went back on several posts here somebody said it is the "E16H5IMS.50B" version.
In addition, the BIOS on MSI's websites says about a fix on the 4K panel. My laptop model is not the one with 4K and I don't know if that changes anything.
I currently have the DMI BIOS Version as "E16H5IMS.504" running on a GS60 2QE.
Confusion defines me right now. -
E16H71MS.10C IS THE CURRENT VERSION IN MY laptop.
E16H7IMS.111 is the newer version i found at support page of MSI
https://www.msi.com/Notebook/support/GS60-6QE-Ghost-Pro.html.html#!type=download
and i tried to flash it in BIOS and not in windows -

Is it documented anywhere the different versions of the GS60 Ghost? Does anyone know when the next revision will be out? I am looking at picking up a GS60 Ghost soon and I want to make sure I am getting the most recent version. I have been burned in the past where I bought something and then a month later the new hotness came out.

Since Intel has slowed down, we don't have to expect a new platform every two quarters. -
Lately I have been experiencing occasional wifi drop out while playing games on nvidia gpu. Does anyone know how to fix this?
- I have done a little bit of work to make sure the problem isn't caused due to ISP or network interference.
- All my drivers are up to date from MSI website.
- I have uninstalled Killer Network Suite as instructed in this thread, but the problem persists.
- Apparently it's a known problem on MSI forum. I'm still digging for a solution, just thought maybe someone can help me here.
Update: I have just turned off "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" on my network adapter in device manager as instructed here. Will see how it works out for me. Not fixed.Last edited: Apr 16, 2016 -

Also, update the firmware on your router if possible.Foreigner likes this. -
I have downloaded "Standard Drivers (no Killer Features)" from Killer's website, but I'm not sure how to install it since there is no executable file inside the folder. I did however download and install "Killer Suite" released on April 15 which I hope will work better than the one from MSI's website.
Router firmware is all updated.
I am also suspecting the problem might be caused due to my ISP's modem with wifi capability. It is Hitron CGNM-2250. I spent an afternoon trying to IP Passthrough it (as instructed by my ISP's customer support) so I can use my old router for wifi, but I have yet to get that to work. The router cannot access to the internet even when it is connected to an Ethernet cable while the lights on my router are all green and pinging 192.168.0.1 shows no packet loss. So I'm kind of puzzled right now. -

I would log into the router while trying to access the wifi with the laptop and see if something is setup incorrectly on the router side. Other than that, try and get a new router.
