Witch games are going to be "mantled"? Only ones, that will be released after "official Mantle support release" or will this become backwards compatible with titles released prior to Mantle support?

Well the way I see it, GPUs are also type of an processor, simply with different applianaces. So, if software tweaks would unlock GPUs as physics/geometry calculating units, then this would be a blast of additional performance, since 7970m in GX60/8970m in GX70 have a lot of unused reserves due to current CPU bottlenecks.
If Mantle is needed anywhere in the mobile sector, then it's the GX series... -
y other option is for almost same price ($750) :

The specs are inferior on the screen, GPU, HDD, and RAM when compared to a GX60. -
That is true. But CPU quadruples... I dont play offline games except civ and total war 2. And I've been reading even games like dota 2/lol game play is crippled due to the A10 on gx60. I heard bf4 plays just fine online, but then im curious how it would do on games like NS2, Chivalry and neverwinter etc...
It seems that in all of youtube videos ppl test the machine on offline FPS games etc.
Personally I dont care to play on Max settings and I want a machine that I can smoothly play all of genres @ med to high setttings. -
its a lie........
-
740M won't do that, that is just a low-mid GPU, nowhere to 7970M!
-
Total war 2 is like the epitome of the gx60 Achilles heel I believe (I don't own it so based on others)
Games I do own on the other hand have shown one truth once games get optimised the laptop rocks, using examples you listed NS2 had dips to 20-30fps when maps got crowded, after a couple massive optimisation patches it now runs at 60-90fps max graphics, blew me away..
Chivalry is Indy and they never properly optimised it (moved straight to next title) so it plays at about 35-60fps, fine but could be better given our doesn't look amazing..
Hawken, an Indy version of mwo was running at 35fps at low, released patch and now it's 60fps+ on high.. Compared to mech warrior online itself which is terribly optimised and they won't fix anytime soon so you have to settle for 30-40fps.
Planetside 2 was running at 20-60 fps, released "operation make faster game 1" (2 is on its way) fps now 40-90 fps..
Battlefield 4 currently 40-75fps, when CPU bottleneck curing Mantle comes out in December... we can only speculate but I'm guessing 60fps+
Oh and someone else already said but Dota 2 on high I get solid 60fps+, as well as batman arkham origins, BioShock infinite, mass effect 3, far cry 3(50fps), once you get the fiddling right and wait till games sort their sh#t out it's fine..
Ps4, xbone (their slow processors) and AMD with mantle have promised a future for our gx60's even just the frostbite 3 games have all you could ask for (look them up) -
Thanks for your input. Cleared out many questions in my head.
Wonder if patch 7 on total war 2 has any effect on gx60 performance. (it increased fps and smooth of combat and zooming etc...) -
Rome 2 Total War Update!
So I have a A8-5550m ES in my GXg0. I leave it overclocked at 3.4 ghz via catalyst drivers. Sometimes I do overclock it to 3.6 and 3.7 but have found that it is much more stable at 3.4.
Anyway, Rome 2 even at 3.6 ghz was not running smoothly. The average FPS were high, but in the Benchmark at certain points (troops marching and the battle at the end) dropped down to mid teens in fps. Updating my drivers and Windows did nothing. I believed all hope was lost....
HOWEVER, seeing AmeriT's post, I updated to the 7 beta for Rome 2. The boost was incredible. Didn't see FPS drop below 30! Big improvement. I think this laptop, regardless of the APU you have in it, has some seriously overlooked potential. -
awesome news. too bad the flashsale is sold out for $750..
-
Hey Guys,
Seeing as having mobile Kaveri fit into our GX60's (Just physically, I'm sure Bios changes etc will have to be Hacked in..) is a big thing for us.
If the a8-5550m ES situation has shown us anything it's that if it's possible to improve things we will make it work!
I thought I'd share a bit of information from recent AMD mobile APU roadmap slides, Namely what bit of information is missing when comparing Mobile vs Desktop Kaveri:
Newly released roadmap for Mobile APUs
Lots next to Kaveri, however no mention of FM2 vs FM2+ (the red vs Blue box is whether its 28 or 32nm)
Slightly older Roadmap for Desktop APUs
Really blatantly stating that Kaveri desktop is FM2+ not FM2...
I realize this is far from substantial however it's hard to know why they don't just state it openly and quash our hopes...
For the time being I'm going to stick with no information is good information, Continuing in naive hope till they're close to coming out..
Imagine... An unlocked, overclocked gamers Kaveri APU pushing 4Ghz together with Mantle's brilliance and you'll start seeing the 7970m Bottle-necking us, just a fun thought -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I would say it's 99% sure not to work, no matter your bios hacking skills.
-
It would be like the transition from llano to trinity....it will not work...
-
Pretty sure that Kaveri mobile chip will be a FM2+, most likely will be waiting on a new GX60 with A10-6750m / R9 290m (have no idea if AMD's new GPU naming scheme will transfer to their mobile chips). Guess we will see at CES 2014.
-
The mobile Kaveri won't be compatible and won't push 4GHz. Kaveri APUs will have actually lower CPU clocks than current Richland APUs, at least according to the most recent desktop Engineering Samples. The A10-7850K takes only 4.0 GHz as max Turbo. The new 28nm manufacturing process not woking too well, so far...
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Have we seen benchmarks as I believe it is using the new CPU cores which should be more efficient per clock.
-
Does anyone know, if Mantle will support A-10 4600m Trinity?
-
Mantle is graphics API. It is meant for GCN architecture.
Triniti iGPU uses VLIW4.
If you ask about whether or not APU will benefit from implementing Mantle. Definetly any CPU will. -

Hopefully there are no issues with enduro platforms, but the 7970M should support it.
-
so I just got my GX60 from the flash sale... had an msata all set to drop in it, but it appears that this version they stuck with two regular drive caddies as opposed to the dual msata version they have on the other ones. Any idea on where to get that part with the msata slots and how much it would be?
Was kinda disappointed to crack it open and find out it was the case
Also for anybody else who got the special, you'll want to upgrade the ram as it only has 1 8gb stick in it, so you will want to get a set of two sticks to take advantage of dual channel -
Probability to find one is about Zero, I'm afraid. You're not alone when asking for it.
-
For the desktop Kaveri is not pin compatible with FM2, even though Richland works on FM2+. For mobile it will probably be something similar, so don't expect any CPU swapping.
As for the clock rates, top desktop SKU runs at 3.6GHz base clock because 28nm bulk isn't very good at scaling to higher clock rates. It should be much more efficient at lower clocks so we should at lest see similar clocks to Richland on the mobile side, although overclocking won't be as good. -
What is using the new CPU cores?
-
Anyone played ACIV yet? How's the GX60 taking it?
-
I'm about to try ACIV, mainly because i can barely play CoD Ghosts (I get 20~25 fps on low settings) but BF4 runs awesome on ultra settings.
Has anyone got any ideas about why that happens? -
There's a high chance that it will run poorly...Refer to the PC performance analysis below:
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag – PC Performance Analysis | DSOGaming | The Dark Side Of Gaming
"All in all, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is a mess on the PC." this statement sums up AC4 performance on PC.. -
COD ghost is also known to have serious performance issues on PC..Not sure if the recently release patch would help
Call of Duty: Ghosts PC patch notes detailed | GameZone -
Awesome, do lemme know how that goes.
I had the same problem with Ghosts too, i upgraded to the latest AMD beta graphics drivers, but it wasn't a noticeable gain

See totalbiscuits review on cod lol. Yeah two very messy ports not worth our time.
-
just for the review 3DMARK11:
Generic VGA video card benchmark result - AMD Eng Sample Mobile 2185_A1,Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. MS-16FK
CPU 3.8
GPU 980/1500
I can bench @ 3.9 cpu score 4100!!!!!! score like a I5 3230 that cool!!!!! -
I read that the conversion of this game ( Ghosts ) on PC is a great piece of sh... . I'm Looking for information about BF4 and how it goes on the A10 cpu ? Is it possible to play in single player mode ? I will be very grateful for any information :]
-
Hi Yes it will be it runs like a charm between 40fps and 60. For info sake read : Call of Duty: Ghosts Update Removes 6GB RAM Requirement about COD ghost
-
CoD has tendency to run terribly on PC's.
Just remember what was it like when CoD: Black Ops 1 came out... it was terrible and on dual-core CPU's trying to play it was futile for many people. -
How did you manage that? o.0
Can you tell me your settings? What about temps? CPU voltage? My best is 3750 and it came only once at 3.7GHz. -
Hello again everyone!
BF4 and ACIV run great on my GX60. Yesterday I upgraded to Windows 8.1 (I don't think that brought any improvements at all, but just commenting on it) and today I installed AC and it plays great (at least the first two missions). BF4 is totally playable, it's a total beauty. I can't believe the s**t CoD:Ghosts is...
EDIT: I forgot to mention I installed the latest beta drivers =D -
yes no pb.
1.30v @ 3.9 temp is hot 90-92° but it's only the max benchable for this moment
realy stable 3.8 temps mas 85° it's hot but corect
ii modify timings memory too ( 9/8/8 24 1T ) to obtain this result.
in game ( mmorpg ) the difference is very good
I am sure the 4.0 Ghz is benchable but only for bench !!!
I will try your Vmode GPU to have a complete gx60 perforamnce
sorry i am french
But my only question is:
Is it possible to force the RAM @ 1866 for the A8-5550ES?
And How? -
Hi Good news!! What was your res and image quality that you tested the games on?
-
naah. There is no way with my ES to get better then 1.212V. While I push it to 1.218 it mess the CPU to 900MHz
-
Wound up just throwing an regular sata SSD in my machine. works great, also tried to upgrade the ram but it didn't seem to like the sticks that I put in it and I got display corruption and it wouldn't boot.
Any ideas or suggestions? -
My ES does the same thing after 1.225v no matter how hi i go it drops MHz to 900
-
Are we talking about 1AC version with the A10 cpu and no OC ?
-
so we know our limits now. I am not sure if should I be happy cause I can reach 3,5k physic points in 3dm11 or should I cry that I can't do more as others do
-
i can put 1.35v and without drops ( hw monitor )
i put a result today with cpuz and 3dmak score if you want.
my realy stable oc is 3.8cpu and 980/1500gpu and when Gx60 OC it s a very nice portable for gamers -
would you the soluce for pass 1.25v?
-
Hi guys i have a problem here, I just got this laptop a few days back and i tried to put in another hdd in it. It can detect my second hdd inside the BIOS but when the laptop boot into windows 8 it doesnt detect my newly installed hdd. It doesnt even show up in Disk Management, any idea whats the issue here? thanks.
-
I am pretty certain that you need to format the hdd first.
Has anyone gotten the eyefinity to work with gx60 via Minidisplayport to HDMI adapter like this : N4U8 New Hot Mini Display Port DP to HDMI Cable Adapter Converter for MacBook PC | eBay
If i plug the adapter in with the hdmi cable and switch the on button on my external lcd then the main screen starts to switch on and off continiously and the external stays blank. -
I've got a GX60 1AC with no OC at all, BF4 runs at 1080p with all settings on ultra, and ACIV also runs perfectly well with everything maxed out as much as possible, but with antialising on MSAA 4x and ambient oclussion without the HBAO+ option (which I believe is for nvidia cards). Ambient oclussion was set on SSAO.
This makes me conclude CoD:Ghosts is just a shi**y game for PC... -
Hi, I have the GX60 1AC, as you said BF4 runs without any hiccups but I cant get ACIV to run well,
could you share your ingame settings and any other tweaks because the frames drop to sub 20fps levels
when not at sea, this is at 0 AA. Also COD spends too much cpu resources on some breathtaking next gen
fish AI,brings even Titan to its knees but somehow runs well on consoles with hardware similar to the GX60
