anik if you off the internal GPU you dont have to remove battery. just while lappy is starting press delete some times. then F9>Enter. after that F10>Enter.

that will blind reset settings to default in your bios.

Any1 with integrated video disabled plays Diablo 3 and can share some experience if it gives better performance ? Cause i putting my 5550 @ 3.6 GHz still has drops to low 20's, it is still good but i always want the max performance ;)

It's a pity it does not work without dgpu. You can always be able to use it to other things , like web browsing or films , with igpu if 7970 breaks down . One day after the expiry of the warranty :D.

Hey RIPGreave, I'm using since the first day a Samsung S23A750D, with the TriDef software designed for AMD HD3D. GX60 is connected by DisplayPort for 1080p + 120 Hz, and it's working like a charm with the correct profile for each game.
There is only some performance issue on very demanding games, such as Crysis 3, because of the extra calculation power required for active 3D rendering.

The most terrific and immersive experience was 3D gaming of Metro Last Light and the Amnesia series, played with a good headset and in full dark room :)

I probably should post this on AMD's forum but I can't find out how to register. Anyway, I recently attempted to use AMD Overdrive (I have used it successfully in the past) and I received an error. I uninstalled it and attempted to reinstall it and now get an Error 1935 when attempting to reinstall Overdrive. Any ideas how to get Overdrive installed? It won't finish... its pretty annoying. I have the newest version of Overdrive downloaded and I have the newest catalyst mobility drivers installed on my GX60... 14.1. Oh, I also have the A8-5550M ES installed and overclocked to 3.4 via the 14.1 drivers. I'd like to push it back up to 3.7 with overdrive like I did when it actually worked.

Thanks in advance for any installation advice.

I own a GX70 but I guess it's roughly the same as the 60 so....

I have a Crucial M4 120GB but get only 285/195 speed so it looks like it's somehow running in SATAII mode even though HDTune reports it as Sata III. What to do?

Btw, anyone succeed in stopping the 5750M from throttling? Even though it's locked at 3.2Ghz it still cause a major FPS after a few minutes.
I also plan to replace the stock 8GB 1600 CL11 module with 2x4GB CL10 1866 Corsair but they are 1.5V, will they work?

Thanks, I decided to play it safe and order 2x4GB G.Skill 1.35V 1866MHz kit.

    p.s
What is wrong with the GX BIOS'es? I had the 50C and updated to .10G but my Crucial M4 still runs at Sata 2 speeds.

Tell me if you get an fps increase, you have to plug in the battery and charge using the adaptor, this will generate more power to components

Playing titanfall beta now....still trying to fiddle with the settings and still finding a way to measure fps....
but it's playable at max settings except AA for now...

Edit: kudos on the devs part...they indicate which options affect CPU and/or GPU...
so it's quite easy to optimise the settings...have not seen anyway to measure fps yet, but i think i'm running it at 30-40 fps (guesstimate) with no AA and medium shadow...

That's fine..I do not intend to install another FPS counter software...But after playing 10 matches or so, I'm happy with the overall gameplay and the performance of the game...
The game is doing fine with max settings and 8x MSAA...The only lag i experience comes from the server latency...they do not have an australian server and the closest server they have is Southeast Asia..

Someone knows / could test if the MSI GX will work without the 8970m?
Someone wants to buy a Notebook with very good Sound and a good Display for ~600€. CPU Power and GPU Power are not very important.
My idea was to buy the msi GX70 for 900€ and sell the 8970m for ~300-350€. But will the Notebook work fine without the 8970m?

The A-5750m has the Radeon HD 8650G, so normally it should work without a problem, or?

Yes, it can work by APU alone without the discrete GPU.

Have some small possiblt problems with my GX60. While playing LoL im having some decent frame rate problems playing in med-high settings. I would think a game with graphics like that would be no match for this laptop but im forced to play on the lowest settings. Diablo 3 i can play on med settings no problem. Is this just the nature of the 5750m and the 8970? or is something not set right?
Catalyst says its running 13.12 (though i installed beta 14.1) another problem for later.

    Thanks.

It's the fault of the CPU witch is too weak to be paired with 7970m/8970m/R9 M290X.

Nothing you can do about it, except turning off settings witch put load on the CPU, rather than GPU (shadows, physics, draw distance ect.)

Really..well, what the hell is going on? :p I can JUST play it without issues on "very low" no shadows and anything that puts load on the system turned off.
I may try to uninstall the drivers 13.12 and my chipset driver and install 14.1 since whenever i try to update the catalyst it always says 13.12. Im not sure what else to do.

I do always have it at 2.5Ghz locked in with AMD CCC. Its also set to "Gaming" in SCM which brings it up t 3.2, so it should be able to handle it no problem at all.
The only thing i can think of; its not using the 8970 card.

Tried with different setting in the catalyst, still can only get about 20fps on high setting.. on "low" setting it dips down to 22fps during fights.
    I dont get it..

I play Dota2 on max everything, using the Catalyst 13.4 drivers. Old drivers and I should upgrade. No overclocks/undervoltage/cpu locks etc, on the GX60 with the A10-4600m. The only latency/lag I get is from my connection. I don't think it matters, but I'm on 16gb of ram. Seriously doubt LoL puts more load than that.. I suspect your drivers are botched?

I deleted all the AMD drivers and reinstalled 13.12 everything works fine now.. still cant reach the highest setting it drops to about 20fps during fights..but i can now play at medium with drops down to 60fps, huge difference.. that beta 14.1 was messing me up. Thanks for the help :) Ill try dota, see what i can run.

I can also play dota 2 at the highest setting..is LoL just poorly optimized? or what.

I have MSI GX70, which is quite similar to GX60 so I'd like to write here about my experience.

First, the AMD A10 CPU is not as weak as many of you scream. I played BF3 and on High the CPU is used at 40% while video is at 35%, that's almost 1:1, which is OK right?
The thing that isn't OK is that even at 40% CPU load and 35% GPU load I only get about 25 FPS when looking at high detailed areas.

Here are comparison screenshot with FPS and CPU/GPU usage:

    Minimal mesh quality: http://i.imgur.com/K1uGrD4.png
    Max mesh quality: http://i.imgur.com/5YLgdUA.png

    ***No other settings changed***

***The short CPU usage peaks on the second screenshot appeared during screenshot capturing and they have nothing to do with ingame performance.***

The strange thing is, it's only mesh quality that affect the performance that much. No other settings, even resolution, have such impact on the FPS, and the performance is all the same whether I play @ 3.2 GHZ or @ 2.5 GHZ, so the CPU doesn't seem to be the bottleneck. What else can cause the FPS drop on high polycount scenes?

I have maximum performance ofcourse. If I run on integrated graphics, I get max 30 FPS in singleplayer with ALL settings at minimum. Even the game menu lags like hell at 1920x1080 if I use integrated GPU. Gonna try "gaming" mode if I get SCM to work.

R9 M290X is the best you can put into your laptop.
If Nvidia is preferred, then 780M is, however there can be an unforeseen compatibility issue since no one has tried it this way.

Everything I have read says it will be FM2+ - this has additional pins so no backwards compatibility sadly.

Socket FM2 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So I guess we all make the most of what we've got and hope that Mantle helps us out a bit =)

A friend bought a GX60 the other day. It's one with an 8970M.

Has anyone noticed the MSI 8970M is clocked at 950Mhz by default? It also only has one 8GB DDR3L memory stick too so it runs single channel out of the box.

Probably the .exe file is corrupted, their servers often cause bad download rates/file damage.

Try to re-download the driver again.
