I just ran 2013 Ultra 4x msaa on my a8 which is at 3.7ghz the best it will do is 43 average 30 min. It does not throttle the cpu , it is at a constant 70-85% utilization at 82c .I just do not see a 45-50fps average no matter the graphic settings used . I also tried with the max stock clock of 3.1ghz and got 36 and 28 . So overclocking helps but not enough IMO . This game loves processor speed , if I lock my i7 at 3.3ghz the frame rate jumps , 10fps average and 11fps minimum , 67 and 55 . I do not want to offend anyone but there is just no helping this machine .

Not offended, but I do not understand, you have to see intel platform, in this thread.
Only booked gx performance if A8 or A10-ES-ES, improves remarkably poor rendimento gx, frankly well as where to buy it.
Once deception and have spent money on buying gx, we will have to take advantage.
It never reached performance with intel, but it improves everything ..... And have a 50 € A10-ES if it shows that the performance by 10-15% more than A8-ES, with temperatures below and I speak to tendo also an A8-ES (for sale)

Well maybe it is kinda expensive but i didn't know what to get for it . It was the only ES on the internet at that time and people could always just pm with a decent offer though.

Yes i sold it to my grandma who is only only playing java type games. BTW it was really hard to sell it without the vid card because the fan keeps spinning without it. I downloaded serveral programs to adjust the fan speed but only one worked. Took about a day of work just to keep the fan from spinning :(

With the money i earned i have build a mini-itx game system. Fractal design node 304 with an GTX770 and [email protected] GHZ and it is as compact and portable as the laptop was :p

You just need an unlocked bios and setting it to igp mode to make the fan behave normally.

    I ordered A-10 5750m ES.
When I get it I'll do some benchmarks of my original GX60-1AC with A-10 4600m vs upgraded GX60-1AC with A-10 5750m ES 3.6 Ghz inside.

Hey people, im having a solid problem with Dark Souls 2 on my MSI GX70.

First i installed the 14.4 drivers. Then i instaled the beta 14.7. I see this problem with two drivers. Now i cant back do the oficial 14.4.

    1) Is there any way to performe a clean instal of catalyst?

    2) I also see some problem like that in Titanfall, but is minimum. Any chance of my HD8970M is broken?

Is it safe? Because when i choose unistall on catalyst driver they say that will unistall all AMD components, i'm afraid of this because GX70 uses a AMD APU.

I use it always when I update my drivers, so don't worry.

Just select AMD (not Nvidia) and do the full cleanup ("Recommended" in brackets).

BTW - if you get a BSOD when you install new drivers after using this program - don't worry, simple re-run the new driver instalator and select full install again, it should finish installing without a BSOD the second time.

This seems like a driver issue, not hardware issue, so your 8970m is fine.

Thank you, i will try tonight. Its weird, because on Dark Souls 2 this issues is very visible, on other games is less visible like Titanfall. In other hand at several many games i didnt see ant issue.

    1) What driver do you recomend? The 14.7 beta or 14.4?

    2) Today when i started Sleeping Dogs i saw some little red points on the sreen, very similar when we do wrongs overclocks on vgas. But when the room get cold, this points disappeared. Is this temperature problem? What software is good to monitor temperatures on Windows 8.1?

Ad 1) I use 14.7 RC III at the moment - no issues on my 7970m.

Ad 2) Check your temps, I use MSi Afterburner 2.3.1 to have in-game GPU temp/utilization/FPS display.

Hey, i think i have bad news.

I use Display Driver Uninstaller and all goes fine, i tested 14.4 and 14.7 in a clean instal and both give me same results and issues in Dark Souls 2 and Titanfall. The issues is just like the errors we got when do a wrong overclock on a vídeo card.

I just test these two games, i will run Metro Last Light, Sleeping Dogs and some other heavy game right now.

But i'm really afraid of my HD8970m is broken =(

    EDIT:

    Sleeping Dogs:
When the game starts I saw the little red points blinking issue, but after some minutes of gameplay they disappeared and the game run fine along 20 minutes.

    Serious Sam 3:
On the first run the game was setting at high and medium. There was no issue. But when I put all setting on ultra some little issues starts do appear.

    Metro Last Light
I played a entire level with all settings on ultra. There was no any issue in 10 minutes of gameplay. The HD8970M reaches 100% of use along all gameplay.

    Titanfall
I started the game on low and didn't see any issues for 5 minutes. But when I put all to maximum the issues started to appear.

Guys, went to check the frequencies, apparently for some reason the HD8970M was running above the standard frequencys..

The clock should be 850MHz - 900MHz 850MHz was in default.
A memory that should be on by default 4800mhz was at 5000mhz.

I just put the pattern and am testing in Dark Souls 2 After lunch I will test the other games.

Hi, I am new to this forum, but I wanted to ask a few questions.

I got the hitman edition with AMD A10-5750m and HD 8970m.

I managed to do the Bar-edit modification to make the laptop run 3.2 ghz, and it runs well in BF3 and BF4 well in Ultra with 20 to 45 fps. Obviously it really drops whenever I look at the landscape with 64 players and more detail around. I wanted to know if I can have more consistent fps if I add another 8GB of ram into the laptop. I was told by some people that it could help.

Are you running with only one stick? If so yes it can help. If you have two in now performance won't increase using larger sticks (the machine has 2 slots)

You can add another and see if the dual channel operation you get consequently will help, though I've read that the difference between single channel and dual channel performance in gaming is pretty negligible.

Thanks Prostar. I remember I bought a laptop from you guys about a year ago (MSI GE60), My very first laptop. Unfortunately the laptop got stolen and therefore the reason I got the GX60.

One thing I have noticed in BF3 is that in some maps it runs 45-50 fps on ULTRA (Operation Metro), I believe mostly in open field maps with alot going on its where it drops to 35-20 fps. I was thinking maybe doubling the ram will help with getting more frames, especially in open field maps.

GX60 may have ran into bottleneck with such high level of graphical settings.
Try reducing the quality setting and verify the fps again.

Try to get A-10 5750m Enginnering Sample and overclock it to 3.9/4.0/4.1 Ghz - games will run much better.

If you can get a ES it will make a difference . Maybe you will get lucky if you go that route . My A8 ES maxes out 3.7 no matter how voltage through at it .

Your ES is same like of others.

Just try to OC it with PSCheck.
OverDrive makes to [email protected] at max.

Hello guys, I see some of you playing with MSRs and PCI BARs, so maybe you can help me. I have A10-5750M ES but I think all trinity and richland mobile cpus will have the same problem.
So, Im trying to overclock the CPU with CPB and APM disabled, so I'm overclocking the P0 state. But I am experiencing throttling when the voltage gets past Pb1 state. I tested with default CPU multiplier and many many options from the BKDG like LHTC, HTC but still the problem persists.

My Pb1 defaults at [email protected] and boosting the Pb1 voltage is impossible (MSR, PSCheck, OverDrive), but when I undervolt it for example to 1.15 I will get Px throttling @1.15625

    Basically if PxVID>Pb1VID=Px throttling

The only thing that half-fixes this, is setting D24F3xDC to force the CPU to not drop under P3, but then I have many other problems wiith overclock.

    Can anyone help?

    Hi there,

I ran into the same problem as tanago.
I'm using TurionPowerControl with an A10-5750m ES and after disabling the boost states i can't increase its P0 p-state VID further than the Pb1 VID without the same throtling issue.
WIth Pscheck, by removing all p-states but P1, i can reach 3.9Ghz @1.262V

Hello everyone, i have a question. I've had my GX60 for maybe around a year now. No real complaints seeing that i'm just a casual gamer. I don't need 60+fps or all the eye candy. I was contemplating getting a new laptop but i was wondering if i could just buy an intel laptop and then install my 7970m video card in it. Might possibly prolong the use of the video card. Do you know of any laptop models that I eould be able to transfer my 7970m card into? Sorry if this is a noob question. I'm a doctor so I dont have much time to do all the research, though I have read and followed this entire thread and saw the many accomplishments, frustrations, and possible hopes of utilizing this laptop to its fullest potential.

Some gaming notebooks can handle 7970M GPU, and you will also need the heatsink to be compatible by the GPU as well as the notebook chassis itself.

Thanks for the response Kevin. Well I have the heatsink as well since I would be pulling the 7970m from my gx60. Are there any recommendations of models of laptops with 2nd or 3rd gen i7 CPU that I could look for that would be compatible?

2nd gen models would work (non optimus) where as 3rd gen machines won't.

You definitely will need the original heatsink designed for 7970M, but its compatibility with different chassis is really hard to say unless you actually get to mount it to verify.

about this, i have done some searching.. it is because my cpu is throttling.
i did check my cpu temp by conserving it using hwinfo. and it states there my temp went up till 69C maximum while gaming
issit a safe temp? was this temp causing my cpu to throttles? this cpu throttling happens after i reformat my windows to 8.1 btw..
i really donno how to get this fix, i dont think it is becasue my cpu temp too high :(
sorry for my bad english guys

Overheating? Did you check the fans for dust? Seems like CPU is clocking down to cool. You may have checked with software monitoring, but did you check the insides for any problems?

Other thing that might be the problem is with power supply - is your AC Adapter working all right? is your power profile always on High Performance?

Does your power button always flash orange or it turns white when you get sudden low performance?

Hello sir poland, i have monitored my cpu temps using HWinfo64 and found out tht maximum temp for my cpu is 71C while im playing intense game like lichdom, metro redux. issit dangerous aldy?
about the dust on fan i dont think theres a problem there cause i had this laptop only a year. yes my power profile is at high performance alrdy and everytim i game the light is orange. even when fps drops it stays orange..
i realize something while monitoring before the fps drops, my cpu usage is at 90-100% and after drops it went to 30-40% only. i really dont know what cause this.
I will try reformat my windows again later.. this is so frustrating having my games suddenly drops fps..

Sudden drop of CPU usage means throttling witch is wierd.
71 C is fine, since OC'ed ES A-10 5750m can reach 90 C and causes no problems thanks to the cooling in GX.

Did you try to "force" constant highest turbo frequency for your A-10?

    It's 2.7 Ghz for A-10 4600m, 3.2 Ghz for A-10 5750m and about 3.7 Ghz to 4 Ghz for A-10 5750m ES.

You will need PSCheck (Windows 7) or AMD Overdrive (Windows 8 and 8.1) to force permanent turbo.

Evening guys, I've had this laptop for near 2 years (next February will be 2 years), I've run upon some minor issues like the microphone no longer working, but what's worrying me right now is the HDD, lately sometimes it does a loud noise, I think it's the head parking getting louder occasionally, I hear it maybe once or twice every 8 hours or so.

I don't know if I should worry about it or not. I think it could just the noise canceling things wearing out.

I've had imminent HDD failures on desktop computers, so I know how the clicking is when there's an imminent failure, but in this case, it's a big single "click"-spring like sound.

I'm familiar with the soft clicks of the head parking, but should I worry about this other sound?

I havn't experienced any crashes, freezing, slowdowns or anything like that, and if anyone knows of a good S.M.A.R.T. tool to diagnose my HDD I would appreciate it.

As an additional note: Sometimes the orange led of the switchable graphics turns off (not white, but off), but from what I heard from a friend of mine, it could be just the LED as there's no crashes either.

I will appreciate all help and advice regarding these issues, specially if I should worry or not, Cheers!

The click could be caused by the parking of header.
This is usually very noticeable on the Seagate HDDs.
Can you check and find out what you have?

I think it's a Western Digital, on properties it says WDC WD7500BPKT-22PK45T0

I just would like to add that this new sound I mentioned started coming up around a month ago, as I said it does sound like the header parking, but it's louder than how it usually is, usually the head parking sounds like a soft click while this other one is louder.

Cheers! and thanks in advance :)

There's a tool for you to change the acoustic level on the WD hard drive, which is called AAM.
Enable AAM on Western Digital Hard Drive - Super User

Hi there, just got the gx70 destroyer a couple of weeks ago found a 'b' grade one luckily and even after reading this thread i thought it would still be a massive upgrade from my gx740.

Been having to use baredit to trying raise my fps in mmo's but just wanted to check with you guys because settings in baredit seem to be staying after a reboot is this normal, as i thought it wouldnt power down without reverting them back and they should reset when closing down.

Also exactly how should i update gpu drivers bit confused because of the whole apu/gpu/enduro stuff.

    Many thanks in advance

Usually the software will have options about what to do on close in the options. Drivers are updated from amd.com just grab the dedicated gpu ones.

    Hey everyone, I just upgraded to A-10 5750m ES from a stock A-10 4600m.

I'll try to post the results later today, when I have time to do some benchmarking/gaming and OCing :)

    UPDATE 1

    Ok, did first preliminary tests.
In Cinebench 11.5, I get 2.81 pts running on 3.6 Ghz with voltage 1.1812V.
Temps reached 80 C durning testing (not bad).
This result is nice considering, that the stock A-10 5750m they put in GX Destroyer now has no more, than 2.60 pts.

From my perspective as a previous A-10 4600m Trinity user - the boost is really big.
My old Trinity A-10 4600m ever got more than 2.21 pts in Cinebench 11.5, so that is already a nice boost of 0.60 pts for me.
HD 7970m should be very happy about it too :D

Here are results with 3.7 Ghz and 1.212V:

    UPDATE 2

Ok folks, seems like 3.7 Ghz on 1.2000V is not 100% stable, games can suddenly freeze.
I can't force higher voltage than 1.2000V, because ES drops down to around 2000 mhz on all cores.

So I guess 3.6 Ghz with 1.2000V is the most probable stable setting.

    UPDATE 3

    I confirm.

The 3.6 Ghz backed with 1.875v - 1.2000v is IMO the best performance/temp/stability combo for gaming.

Diablo III for instance runs GREAT now, A-10 5750m ES really helps to smoothen up the FPS to silk in this game.

Hi Guys, I just bought a used GX60 and I have a couple of questions about it.

1)My idle temperature for the processor is around 90 degrees Celsius, surely this isn't right. The integrated GPU is around 44 degrees so I can't see why it is so high.
    2) MSI GX60 1AC Drivers Download for Windows 7, 8, XP, Vista --> Is this the right set of drivers for the components of the laptop? I ask this because I am contemplating installing Windows 7
3)What programs should I be using to help maximise the performance?
4)Lastly, what program/s enable me to switch between the integrated and the dedicated GPU.

    Thanks
