Yes the GT60 Intel heat sink does fit without issues . It did drop the temperature a few degrees over the stock heat sink.

looks like my 8970m (gx60-3be with windows 8.1) is dying... nowadays each time i try to play archeage/firefall/dota2/heroes of the storm(and more) temperature is goin too hot and on 96-99c(with cooler boost on, i cant play anything without cooler boost off btw) drivers start to repeatly crash (when driver crashed, temp rapidly downs to ~80-85 and again starts rapidly raisin before next crash)... i was on windows 7x64 before and there picture on monitor were just freezin on high temps insted of driver crashes (>99c).
looks like video card is damaged, because i played archeage on high settings on a 26inch monitor(1920x1200) just after i bought that notebook (november 2013) and i didnt use cooler boost... only when crashes appeared i started to check temps and use cooler boost but looks like its too late... i think i can burn my 8970m and get new with a warranty... shall i do that)?
added: on early crashes (first months) i even tried to downclock frequencys on video card on 10-30% and there no were any result...Last edited: Jan 1, 2015 -
Jee thanks for the information. You are right, 3.7 Ghz is rock stable and really improved gaming performance of GX60. At first, I thought that i bought the wrong laptop (GX60) because of the HUGE bottleneck by a10-4600m but the a10-5750m ES arises and saved my laptop. +1 to you sir!LisuPoland likes this.

Hi guys, it's me again.
I want to thank everyone for being so helpful and showing such dedication for this hidden gem of a laptop.
I managed to do just about everything.
I am overclocked at 3.7ghz @ 1.26v
I am using the v2 script to do so.
I have my bios unlocked
But there is one thing I have been stumped on. I have been here a few times asking various questions on the matter but i feel like It's not quite the info I need.
What I want to do is Flash Hitman edition bios onto my gx60 1ac as stated in LisuPoland's tutorial but there it says win 7 users only files.
Anyway could someone point me in the right direction on flashing the Hitman edition bios onto my 1ac with windows 8 on it? Can I use the provided files. Orrr should I just flash the latest gx60 1ac bios?
-Thanks in advance. -
Hi,
I think you should just use the official newest BIOS from MSi site for Win 8 Hitman Edition. If you are using the PSCHeck/script method of OC'ing the ES, then you do not need to turn of the turbo in the BIOS - you do that with the use of the method I just mentioned.
Then again, if you are worried about the risk of doing something wrong, you can just keep using your current BIOS, odds are it won't make any problems at all. -
This is weird... dota2 95c-102c(before driver crash) on minimum... (different drivers official/leekm)
-
Hi this is my first time posting anything on this thread and I've had my MSI GX60 Hitman Edition for over a year now. I recently updated my drivers to the Omega Catalyst and it's been causing a bit of problems for me. One of the main problems is that I can't login, shutdown, can't do CTRL+ALT+DEL with my power plugged in. Another is that I can't use Chrome correctly with my power plugged in too, but once I open Chrome without my power, I can open new windows with my power plugged back in but once plugged in, sometimes youtube would not work correctly as the videos would just be black with sounds.
Is there any advice on this? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Have you tried uninstalling that set, going back to the stock drivers and putting the latest back on?
-
Looks like you should change the thermal past ... with such temps your GPU won't last very long.
-
Hello. I got installed the intel one. (did it like year ago)
it doasnt fit perfectly the same but its rather easy to mod it. There is a square to cut off and its easy to make at home with basic metal file.
However you said about squeeze a bit more. not exactly. I got on it Gelid GC Extreme and I am still for using 3.7GHz. I can go above for like 3.9 and try to play but its incomfortable while got really low performance gain.
3.7GHz is best even with modded cooling like me.
(btw soon I will give a try an extra heatpipes.)
-
Prostar Computer Company Representative
Remove the Catalyst version you currently have and reinstall an older version (preferably the one originally provided with the computer), then test again. If things run fine, try updating over that stock driver, as Meaker suggested.
Are you sure these issues are related to Catalyst? -
Hey guys,
Lately i've been wondering about upgrading my GX60 Hitman Edition a bit.
So i've read about the A10-5750m ES, i will definitely be doing that.
But now i am wondering about the keyboard and cooling..
I read somewhere that the GT60 and GT70 CPU cooling heatsink will fit? giving dual heatpipes instead of just one. For example this one:
Also, i know that the keyboard LED header is integrated on the board, so i was wondering which keyboards will be able to fit? again, i know the GT70 and the GT60 should fit? But what about laptops like the GT780?Last edited: Jan 14, 2015 -
Maybe yes but i think there is something different.... at least temps wont go more than 85c in Heroes Of The Storm....
Tried Diablo 3 (msi vga drivers MSI Global - Computer, Laptop, Notebook, Desktop, Motherboard, Graphics and more 64)... temperature immediatly reached 104c
before i alt-tab
Isnt it a reason to go to service center ?
Added: Going to try http://leekms.blogspot.ru/2015/01/amd-enduro-v145011002-modded-driver.html
But it think its useless, i tried at least a 10 different versions -
@ Theelichtje
did you read two post above? so frustrating -
Yes, i have.
1 of them says he will "try" the heatsink.
Another person says the heatsink fits without issues.
Another person says it won't and that it has to be modified.
I just want to be sure about what i have to do before i spend 20 dollars on a heatsink that i can use.
If you could please answer me that would be great, i'm just trying to get some help.. -
anyone had/heard anything about repairing/changing video card in service center ? looks like i'll really need to g to service center soon...
Last edited: Jan 18, 2015 -
yes it should fit but has to be modified. screw holes are same. heatpipes curves same. and it also fits to the cooler. you need to cut little fragment of metal frame that I marked
-
Thanks for the reply! Took away my doubts
Also, would anyone happen to know anything about the MSI Battery Calibration app destroying the battery? I recently executed the software and let is to its thing. Now the laptop wont charge and even though it says it has 80% charge left, i would suddenly lose power. And of course i am outside of the battery RMA period.... -
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
Your battery was already worn, since a battery's life cycle is about 500 times.
Usually, doing a battery calibration will help to show a battery's actual capacity, but in your case, the battery's condition is worse. -
I have never use it. My RMA period for the GX left week ago (2 years) and my batter is at 90% condition o.0
true, I used the batter maybe 50 time and due to power demand it recharged like 100 times but it seems to me rly good anyway -
Thanks guys... Guess i'll have to get a new one then. Atleast i will receive a few packages in the coming weeks/months ^^

Hello guys!!
I'm GX70 3BE owner and would like to try changing my cpu to A10-5750m ES version. As I read LisuPoland guide, it seem to be working with GX70 but I also need the unlocked version of the bios (my laptop is win 8.1 with latest msi official bios installed).
For the unlocked bios, I found this guide to unlock gx70 bios https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP3z93cSLM0&index=72&list=WL.
If any GX70 owner has tried his guide and successful overclocking your machine, please let me know.
One more thing from his guide. The overclocking script from consolero4ever is very useful, but I can only download one in Spanish. Another one in English hosted in mega.co.nz need a decryption key and I can't download it.
Not sure what to do to download the file (or it is locked). Any help is appreciated
Thanks a lot
-
Hi, ipankrub and welcome.
you can found the script v2 in english from consolero4ever at page 420
or here, is the same link:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1_Uo-NdslviamZiaHZFRzg3elU/view
i also can say that you are not necessarely forced to flash the bios
i am running a overclocked ES on stock unlocked bios of my gx60 1ac
After you replace the cpu you can use one script to unlock bios and other to
overclock the cpu. -
OC procedure is exactly the same both on GX60 and GX70
-
Thought I'd just chime in and mention that I purchased an AMD A10 5750m ES from that Chinese supplier on Ali Express, I was skeptical at first considering the low price and the supposed rarity of the ES. But I just received it today and it functions perfectly, sitting at 3.6 / 1.26v stable right now.
Any of you on the fence about that guy can rest assured that he is legit, the only issue is the shipping takes forever. I ordered it December 28th and only received it today, granted the holidays probably played a role in prolonging the shipping time but still even during non holiday time you can probably expect 20+ days for the free shipping to reach you via China Post / USPS. -
You got your ES fast then
I waited for mine to arrive for about 45 days. -
Exactly, i waited for mine 7 weeks, shipping to Ireland.
-
Maybe someone will respond ? . I have a version 1AC with 4600m as an cpu and 4 GB of RAM . Thanks .
-
On my GX with A-10 5750m ES running on 3.7 Ghz and 8 GB ram it runs quite well on Mantle with Origin overlay disabled in-game (it's important to disable Origin in-game, otherwise it can lower the performance even by 50%!)
-
Well, I've ordered a 5750m ES and a GT780 Led Backlit keyboard, which should fit without problems
Can't wait for them to arrive! -
So, after I've got this poor exuse for a gaming PC ATM I decided to try upgrade it and make it better, so first of all I got a few questions before I even try.
Can I install a GT60 motherboard on this laptop? And if I can will my AMD M290X function on it?
@LisuPoland wasn't able to contact you much, I was interested in your tutorial, do I have to unlock the BIOS in order to do the OC and what are the chances of me bricking the laptop when doing the unlock? -
Hey there, I overlooked your message due to new forum HUD, still getting used to it.
As for the BIOS - you do not need to upgrade it. ES will work on stock BIOS even from the classic GX60-1AC.
As for the GT60 motherboard, AFAIK it has Intel socket, so you might install an Intel CPU, but I cannot confirm whether it will fit in the GX case or not. -
Thanks for the reply, I was also kinda confused with the forums due to not being able to find the private message button, you see the thing is I am unable to clock it for some reason?
When I try to clock it, I get a 2500 lock. No idea why. Any ideas what seems to be the problem? -
Hello there, I am new but i allready read a lot before signing in.
Did you noticed that the next generation of GX-60/70 arrived ?
For example the GX60-5CD81FD with the new AMD FX-7600P (10% faster than stock A10-5750M)
I tried to do some research and found that the socket is différent (FP3 for the FX, FS1r2 for the A10) so no upgrade possible i suppose. -
Try to use the console4ever scripts to force the clocks, he posted a link to his files few pages back
-
Not much improvement then...
A-10 5750m ES on 3.7 Ghz surpasses that FX-7600P... -
"A-10 5750m ES on 3.7 Ghz surpasses that FX-7600P..."
Sure, but it would have been nice to upgrade with that or an FX-ES.
I hesitate so much to upgrade with an ES because i purchased my GX on december 2014, so for the garanty...
I read that you are a farcry 4 player, can you tell me if you have low FPS into the villages or vehicles? Have you problems to play in coop or online too? -
Far Cry 4 runs well on GX with ES, even better than Far Cry 3.
In villages lower FPS is caused by a lot of geometry from building/huts and lots of NPCs, but such areas are very rare and 99% of the game you are outside with steady 30-40 fps on high settings. -
is there any fan controll app for gx60?
add: or any other way to control fan speed manually ?Last edited: Feb 3, 2015 -

A little search in this forum and you would have found this thread:

A little question another time...
My GX is actually running in single channel (1X 8 GO DDR3)
Do you think it is a great idea to buy another 8GO RAM to make a dual channel? I mean is it rentable to spend 60 euros for that?
I heard that amd processors really appreciate the dual channel... -
Well... having 16 GB of ram will not be as useful for now as it would seem, but that would indeed work in dual channel so it should show an increase in overall performance...
No games benefit for more than 8 GB so far, maybe except Dying Light which seems to like about 10-12 GB is available. -
Hi guys
Back for an update.
I just got my A10-5750m ES version today and installed it right away in my GX70. No unlocked Bios needed, no need to install CCC again (currently an Omega version)
Now overclocking to 3.8-3.9 GHz with 1.26 Vcore (1.26 in GXmod, but measured 1.263 V in HWinfo) but it's not stable with Prime95 (restart after 20 sec after test started).
In a torture test core#1 failed to pass self-test and worker stop, but the rest are working fine.
The most stable overclock now is at 3.7 GHz with 1.25 V. Testing with prime95 temp went up to 83.2 C at maximum.
I'm using Gelid GC-extreme as my choice of TIM, around 7-8 C lower than stock TIM. (Stock CPU [email protected] maxed at 89.x C, ES version @3.7 w/ 1.25V max at 83.2 C)
Now not sure if I should go any higher on voltage as I'm afraid to burn my new CPU, but if I play DOTA 2 at 3.8/1.26 V it is working fine.Last edited: Feb 7, 2015 -
I run 3.7Ghz on 1.241v - in games I get no BSOD which is the goal.
So your results are totally OK, you can even crank it down from 3.8 ghz to 3.7 ghz since you get safer temps and no performance difference that is visible in games.iPankrub likes this. -
GT60 motherboard will not just physicaly fit in. There are many diffrences with I/O ports. However, R9 should work. While it cost 300$+ its not worth even trying to mod it. -
i have received my GT780 keyboard, put it in, fonly to realize that the buttons are scrambled. For example, the "w" key wont work at all, and the "Q" key is being registered as a t. The left control is being recognized as a right arrow and the "h" key is F3.
I was wondering whether anyone has ever encountered something like this before?
Also, the led backlighting is working fine
-
I just picked up a 5750m es and I am trying to follow the guide LisuPoland posted. I have a gx60 1ac with a 7970m and originally a 4600m. Unfortunately it's running Windows 8 so I am unable to use the BIOS update files posted, so I grabbed the files posted on MSI's website (version 50A).
I used MSI's guide for updating the BIOS and ran into an issue with the flash drive. I downloaded the files from their site for creating a bootable flash drive which wasn't too hard. Then I transfered the BIOS files to the drive and restarted, eventually finding out that legacy mode was the only in which the drive would boot off of. I selected the "no drivers" part like the guide says, then typed "c:" but nothing shows up. Naturally, I tried almost every letter followed by ":" and still can't locate the flash drive or the files on it. I have tried using multiple USB ports and 3 different USB drives with no luck...
Anyone have any idea's???
Also, when I booted the system with the es in it for the first time it was unstable for about 1 minute, then seemed to fix itself. Since then it's been running fine with no updated drivers (I was planning on installing a clean version of Windows 8 once I update and unlock my BIOS). -
did you format your USB using FAT32 ? -
Yes, I did this for each USB I tried. They were all FAT32 by default as well.
