I almost considered buying a 1366x768 120hz screen for it, but could not live with the drop in res.

    I would drop down to a 120hz 1600x900 screen if I could.

That is the exact same one I got and it works great. According to HWinfo it has the exact same timings as the stock Nanya ones that I have. I really did not need the extra 4gb but for $20 I feel better have it all run in dual channel and a "round" amount of memory installed.

i also removed the huge sticker with the system specs from the palmrest. but about the rest of the sticker they actually look good. i mean its like the ferrari badge in the car, or bmw per se. i left them cause they go naturally with the laptop and look cool. ive seen pic of the same laptop without those stickers and it seems so dull and lifeless.

well ull see when u have it in ur hands

yeah I just tried it, havent test any benchmark yet but it works flawless, brightness still adjustable.

here is the modded inf needed for this driver, just delete the txt part and put it in display.driver.

I deliberately edited the inf to use the same section of the drivers as the 580m. From what I can gather, each section is custom tailored for a group of cards?

I was going to speculate that my score is higher because I have a 2720qm, but that shouldn't net me a 700+ point increase over you.

I've attached my inf file if you want to give it a whirl. :) Remove the "txt" from the end.

Hello, since I was interested in a GT683DXR Msi I read the whole post, and the truth is that I have disappointed Gtx570M results, look very similar to gtx560m and far away from the results of a HD6970M.

The turbo function contributes very little OC, right? The increased of MHz core, shaders and memory on Gt683R was significantly higher.

How about the noise level under load? I guess not reach the silence of Asus G53/G73, but I would like to know what level of noise under charge 100%
    Thanks ;)

I finally gave up on the MSI overclocking altogether. I am using the tool posted above and it works almost flawless. The only time I have a problem is when I wake the laptop from sleep I have to manually click on it. Otherwise I have it set on startup.

Between the turbo button and using either afterburner or the nvidia tool I always had issues getting it to kick in. Since using the above method it always works.

Ran the newest drivers a few posts ago as well and got a 3519 with 3dmark 11 at my "normal" overclocked settings (not some really high benchmark only settings lol).

    Hello, all.

I'm a new owner of a GT683R-242US, first time MSI owner.

I wondered if anyone had a solution to a very flexy keyboard, before I do the whole return thing. I've read where some people use double-sided tape to stick chiklet-style keyboards down more firmly, but I hesitate to pry this one up if nobody else has tried it. Or if there's another method.

Any suggestions are welcome (including just returning it, if that's the better option).

    Thanks!

That keyboard should not be very flexy, unless you expect it to be rock solid.

I fear that it is not seated properly, which you can do yourself if necessary. Make sure it is off, and then press down firmly along the top and down the sides. Make sure all the tabs at the bottom are inserted properly...if you can see any of them poking out they are not inserted properly.

    Exactly where is it flexing?

what types of temperature drops can i expect by placing a cooler pad such as notepal u2 with thermaltake fans??

also, crysis 1 is running @ 35 fps on high, not ultra. is this because i have not applied updates to it??

Hi, I just purchased brand new MSI GT683DXR.
I also got 4GB of memory to max out the memory but I encountered a funny problem.
My laptop does not turn on when I put the screw back in where the warranty sticker was. It works perfectly fine when I don't put the screw back in the hole where the warranty sticker was, but it does not turn on when I put the screw on there.
    Anybody familiar with this problem??

I'll give that a try. It may not be a flex, but the keys on the left side (from the TAB to the T, down to V) make an awful, loud clack. Not good, because I like to game. Sometimes, it's not as loud, and I keep experimenting with different surfaces to see if anything non-invasive will stop it. But solid flat surfaces don't always work, either.

But I will try checking the tabs and pressing it all down.

    Thanks for the tip, Paladin.

what i do is i use msi afterburner and set it to run at startup. then i have 5 different overclocking profiles savedd which i configured in the keyboard as hotkeys. so i just hit turbo before gaming and IN game i can change profiles to my needs. about ur program i dont hink u can do that. i prefer msi after all the way.

Yep, I did that first thing. I wouldn't bother with this, but the keys on the left get a lot of use during games, and I type very fast, so it gets very noisy at times.

I've tried pressing down, and that hasn't helped. I'll try adding more pressure, see if that works.
