So does anyone also have the issue, that the lockscreen is freezing after a cold power on? I mean, I can't enter my pin for at least 10 seconds, and I only see the wallpaper and the account I'm logging in. But no pin field. Any fix? I have this issue for 4 months already.

Not sure I understand your questions. The minimum fan speed is about 45% I think, which is the 2696rpm speed you see. Depending on your fan curve and temps, you can have it drop to 0, this happens normally to the GPU fan, and also the CPU fan when you have cool temps.

I mean what is FAN1 RPM while in idle.
I mean on battery just plain windows on, no programs launched
Wanted to clarify if it spins 2000+ all the time by default

Yeah, the minimum speed is that, and only if you set the fan profile to go to 0% on very cool temps, it can drop to 0, otherwise it will "always" be on at least at such 2000+rpms. It's normal.

You can use either one but eventually all companies will have to switch to DCH driver.

    Hi,

I undervolt my GPU GTX 1060 to 900mV. I have one question. What should it be clock on turbo mode? MSI afterburner shows 1910 MHz. That's a lot. According to the GTX 1060 card's specification should be 1670 MHz on turbo. I should reduce the clock on MSI Afterburner?

    look screenshot https://zapodaj.net/21add9a2f39db.png.html

    Thanks

That does seem a lot, but the actual stock speeds should be 1506/1708MHz.
    Do you have GPUZ screenshot?

    Hello guys,
New here. Just got the MSI GS65 STEALTH and I got some questions...
Since this is a gaming laptop I installed some games to try out, Dota2, Witcher, Skyrim, Diablo 3
On all game especially on the witcher 3, my fps doesn`t go higher than 40
On diablo 3 the maximum fps is 60/70.
I did a benchmark test on Superposition and the result was hillarious, 5420
Is my gpu faulty ? Should I return the laptop ? Is there any way I can improve this ? Playing witcher 3 on a mid - high end gpu and one of the best CPU`s out there with 40 fps is pretty bad.
SInce u are the experts here ...I am open to suggestion
I can provide screenshots of all mentioned above , aswell as the graphics setup on most of the games, nivida panel and nivida experience.
    All help apreciated
    Thank you!

Two parts [left and right] beside touchpad are convex (raised) not much but it is visible. Browsing photos of other the same models
i noticed that a lot has this disadvantage. You can confirm this?

I was hoping someone could help me out. I have a 2018 model 051 with a 1070. I recently upgraded my RAM from 16gb single channel 2666 to 32gb dual channel 3200. I was expecting to see a performance/frame rate boost, mostly from the change from single to dual channel RAM but I'm not seeing any at all. I'm running throttlestop and have my system undervolted but not overclocked. According to throttlestop I'm not thermal throttling. I've tried playing with geoforce power settings and geoforce experience settings with minimal results. Am I wrong to expect better performance or am I missing some kind of setting adjustment needed to take advantge of the upgrade? Anybody have any ideas/opinions?

Maybe just the type of software you are using, and know for games some have noticeable improvement when moving to dual channel.

Any benefits of RAM speed will be revealed in CPU intensive games and tasks that stress the CPU/memory more than the video card. As current trends go, games mostly stress the GPU unless there is some specific benchmarks or scene built-in with a particularly specific CPU load. All that to say, memory speeds is almost irrelevant in certain games and you will not see any performance increase. While DC mode is superior to SC, if SC is not a bottleneck in-game you won't see any improvements moving to DC.

Overclocking my system memory from PC2666 CL19 2T to PC3000 CL18 1T was almost no benefit in graphics heavy benchmarks.

Maybe games like Anthem will actually show some improvement, if you have a dGPU as strong as a GTX1080, usually 4 cores 8 threads on the CPU isn't really going to be enough for it. Even with 6 cores 12 threads with a 1070-MaxQ @ 120W, I still see the CPU usage shoots up to 50~80%, with a RTX 2080 the CPU usage will shoot higher than that.

    Edit: This is GTX 1070 Max-Q @120W Capped at 1733MHz @ 0.843V.

It's mostly in CPU and RAM intensive games. I believe the witcher 3 also has gains with dual channel and faster RAM.

In my case, I saw benefits with battlefield 5 and Rise of the tomb raider.

I've had my GS65 Stealth for almost a year now. I finally decided to upgrade the SSD and redo the thermal paste while I had the motherboard removed. Everything went well but when I got the laptop re-assembled and turned it on I immediately noticed that one of the fans was at max speed. It turns out that Fan 1 is stuck at 6000RPM, regardless of the fan profile I select. It spins up immediately at boot and stays at max speed. I thought that maybe one of the fan connectors was loose so I disassembled everything to re-check the connections and everything looked fine. My GPU temps are perfectly normal, so there is no reason that I can tell for the fan to be maxing out.

I have tried resetting the EC but that did not seem to help at all. Does anyone have any idea what the issue may be and how I can fix it? Any help is appreciated.

Hi all, just picked up a GS65 with the 9th gen i7 and 1660Ti... Not sure if there's a thread for that one anywhere, but I was just wondering what the recommended drivers/tweaks are for this model so it runs its best? Anything I should do?

Buy Kapton tape in proper size or just use ordinary tape which handle the heat.

But I mean, what kind of tweaks? I looked in these threads and it seems like the beginning of them is all speculation as to when these were first announced. I saw a few about the undervolting and such, but I ran the Userbenchmark tool and it seems to be drastically underperforming. Not sure if it's just the test or what, otherwise it seems fine:

    UserBenchmarks: Game 38%, Desk 90%, Work 68%
    CPU: Intel Core i7-9750H - 80.8%
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti - 32%
    SSD: WDC PC SN520 SDAPNUW-512G-1032 512GB - 187.4%
    RAM: Samsung M471A1K43CB1-CTD 2x8GB - 77.4%
    MBD: MSI MS-16Q4

EDIT: I forgot to plug it in for that one, here it is after I did so. Better, but still seems a bit low.

    UserBenchmarks: Game 68%, Desk 111%, Work 88%
    CPU: Intel Core i7-9750H - 98.6%
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti - 63.1%
    SSD: WDC PC SN520 SDAPNUW-512G-1032 512GB - 201%
    RAM: Samsung M471A1K43CB1-CTD 2x8GB - 80.2%
    MBD: MSI MS-16Q4

Killer AX1650 confirmed works with GS65 8RF, it is just plug and play, no BIOS reset or anything needed.

Sleep, Hibernate also functions normally with this card installed.

Edit: Well I meant to say Hibernate instead of Hybrid. :D

UV, BIOS Mod, Hackness' i7 8750H guide. GPU OC/UV.

BIOS involves IMON Slope, TDC, Memory OCs. A lot to do, a lot of fun, for some.

I use Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut with spread method because the GS65's pressure is really too low for pea style, thinner the better, life not sure.

Hey guys, I just bought a used GS65 8RF from a guy, and he claimed he got a repaste done at the MSI Center. (In Korea there's an official MSI center where they can stuff like these for $25)
Anyhow, I'm seeing both my CPU and GPU hit 90C even after my undervolt.

Are there any suggestions? Or should I try to go to that center too and get it repasted myself?

[This guy has told me that he hasn't played games on this laptop for about 6-7 months, can that also be a problem?]

Paste done by MSI center is usually bad, a lot of us had to re-paste by ourselves for much better result.

Oh wow, I either don't even have that installed or just never knew there was a control panel. I'll check it out, thanks.

the 15.6 Razer Blade dbrand worked out great! The width is perfect and the length needed just a slight trim. I should have bought a sheet trimmer but I was impatient and used scissors. I highly recommend you get a sheet cutter. I eyeballed it and used scissors so I cut just a little too much. I've included pictures so that you can see the end result and I've included how much I cut. You need to cut only half of that. I was sloppy but I really just needed something to protect the lid. It hardly leaves the house but I always find myself brushing up against something else that's metal on the lid and just wanted to prevent scratches.

MSI GS65 - Dbrand "Compatible" skin. Just requires slight adjustment of length.
