I've been having trouble when my gt60 boots up: after I log on, the icons will all load, but the KLM and S-Bar wont load/show up, and clicking on anywhere on the taskbar will cause my cursor to display the loading sign. I can't launch any programs or right click or anything. I've been able to get the laptop working in safe mode, and I've disabled some of the services and startup items from the system configuration which gets my computer working after it prompts me to restart it, but if I shut it down and boot it up normally, I get the same problem as before. Has anyone else had/solved this problem? Thanks

I got this extremly frustrating problem I've been trying to fix since I bought my GT70-0NC... (Windows 7 64bit)
    The GPU is a GTX670M.

I can't play any video files without lag, and I can't get games to work properly!
The only game I can play is Diablo 3.

    Games that crash at startup:
    Battlefield 3
    Bad Company 2
    Dishonored
    Borderlands 2

    These are purchased copies...

I have tried every fix I can think of.
I turned off Eco. I set battery settings to max performance.
I set nVidia control panel to use nVidia GPU with the mentioned games.
I updated all the drivers. I tried different versions of the drivers, from Intel/nVidia and from MSi.
I installed a SSD disc and did a fresh OS install.
    Installed drivers, same problem.

The power button is white in Windows, and goes orange when I start games. I also confirmed that the nVidia GPU is working with different monitor programs.

And Diablo 3 runs perfectly! I just don't get it...

I'm thinking about RMA, but perhaps there is a solution?
Is this a known issue with the 0NC model?
The only thing I didn't do yet is flash BIOS, should I try this?

Can anyone tell me what the max safe temp is for operating the gtx 670m? The search feature seems a little lacking.

    Thanks

Mine rarely goes above 65 while using the fan boost during heavy gaming. But it is safe to go higher just not sure how high.

How can I connect my GT60 to amplifier through spdif? Which one of minijack's is he spdif? Do I need Toslink-mini jack adapter? Or can I get 5.1 sound through HDMI?

    Hey guys.
I'm planning to buy gt70 with 3610qm and 670m or 675m. Do they have throttling or overheating issues? I'm asking because clevo's p170em seems to have heavier cooling system with two fans and I've seen reports that gt70 does indeed throttle.
Also would it be wise to wait for 670mx/675mx?

I would suggest not getting the 670MX as it wont be a major upgrade if you are considering the 670M. 7970 is something you should be definitely aiming for if u have the $$$, else the 675MX

I havent experienced any overheating issues with my 670M with the turbo and the fan override turned on. the max temps I have seen is around 70C

try flashing the bios but i highly doubt if that will remediate the issue. what i would suggest is update to the 306.97 driver and when playing games, switch manually to 670m using the nvidia settings. I had some issues in the previous driver versions but since upgrading to the latest version and windows 8 i am not having any issues anymore

I see that this issue has occurred for other but still. I just bought a GT70 and so far all my games have worked flawlessly except Skyrim. It will not detect the Nvidia Gpu, only the Intel HD 4000. I have the 306.97 driver installed and have tried setting Skyrim to use the GPU instead of the intel one. But no matter what it will not do it. I have the 310 Beta driver ready and I going to try that. But still if anyone has found a fix please let me know.

Hello everyone, since I can't find a solution by googling, I saw this thread and decided to write about my problem here:
I own a GT70 for 3 weeks now, and I upgraded my win7 to 8. i recently found out that my system doesnt see the laptop's webcam. I can't find any button or anything that would turn the camera on neither on the laptop itself nor s-bar etc. Can someone help me? :)

hey guys . anyone tried installing windows 8 ?
i did on my GT60 .. with the new drivers and everything .. works perfect ..
but when working on the simplest progames like java ( jdownloader ) the fan works and it gets loud
this would happen in win 7 if u have to many programes working in the background .. but now its a little annoying
any ideas ? .. and is there a way to witch to the integrated graphic card so the fan dont work hard too much ?

You can tell the nvidia control panel to default everything to the integrated GPU in the 3d settings.

Also you can turn on the GPU monitor icon in the task bar to see if anything is activating it.

Not a problem, just remember any monitoring programs or overclocking programs will activate the GPU until you turn them off.

In Windows 8 you can pin it to the taskbar and make active when you need it.

It can be enabled or disabled from Startup in the Windows 8 task manager.

Alright I really need the forums opinion on this. Here's the two machines I'm looking at getting, GT70 0NE-276US or the GT60 0NE-249US. Has anyone owned both of these and could give me some pros and cons
I know one's a 17" and the other a 15" and GT70 comes with a mSATA SSD and the GT60 doesn't. What I'm really looking for is someone who's heavily gamed on both and traveled with them. I'd really like the lighter weight and size of the GT60, but since I'll only have the built in screen when I'm traveling I'd like the 17" screen on the GT70. I'll have an external keyboard and mouse that I'll use so the larger size won't be issue there.
I'm so torn it's ridiculous. Any advice any can give I would greatly appreciate it.

Gaming wise they will be practically the same.
The gt70 has a slightly better oc potential to to better cooling.
The msatas in raid are apparently quite fast, but they will not have that large an effect on gaming.

Hey I got a gt70 onc and just bought a Samsung 830 to use in my primary drive and put my 750 GB drive in the second drive. So software wise what do I actually have to do? Install windows on the new drive and get the drivers? Is that all?

If you want to start with a fresh install then you loose out on nothing by doing that and it avoids any other bloatware you may not be interested in as you don't have to put all the applications back on.

Hi everybody. I just got a new GT70 w/ GTX675M (gt70 0nd-202us). It's kind of bad - didn't expect it to perform almost as well as my desktop machine!

This is my first laptop ever, and first computer I've gotten in a long time that I didn't build, so I'm a little overwhelmed by all the stuff that's preinstalled. Can anybody point me at what bloaty programs I should just remove immediately?

Is the S-Bar really not removable without making the touch buttons on the top bar of the keyboard non-functional?

Do I need these SuperCharger thing and TurboBoostMonitor? I see all these icons in my taskbar, from the cyberlink youcam, to intel graphics (is that redundant with nvidia drivers or is it doing something else?)

Any other tuning things I should do to make this thing start up smoother and run faster? For running this as fast as possible, do I just push the turbo button, or is there more to it?

    etc.

And, totally a silly question: the keyboard lighting manager (KLM) program seems like it doesn't have a lot of options. Only 3 zones, only one color setting shared among all modes (so if you have all 3 zones turned to blue for "normal", for "gaming" you can only get the left zone set to blue, not red, etc.. Are there any other programs out there that know how to hook into the backlit keyboard controls? It looks like the ability is there for it to control each LED separately. Might be fun to go checkerboard or just do other patterns on there for fun.

    Thanks!

Okay, I'm a bit confused. I'm looking at the gtx680m version. I see it has the ability to run 2 harddrives. I assume they're sata 3? Does it have 2 sata3 connections, or is one msata and one sata? Or all 3? The newegg model they stock currently.. has but one hd etc..

Right. But when I initially put in the SSD do I need to put the bios on it or something? Or can I just use the MSI driver disk that came with?

Has anyone tried virtualization yet? There is no option to enable virtualization in the bios. Thats horrible. Is there a workaround for this? I would love to have one.

My friend has a GT70 and we switched CPU's so I put my i5 3320M in the GT70 but now it doesn't boot. But when I put back the i7 it boots normal.

    What could I do?

How do I overclock my GPU + CPU?

How does I maximize my FPS? I seem to lag in a lot of games with a GT70. (Rome Total War, for example).

I bet it isn't using the dedicated graphics card. Open Nvidia Control Panel and under 3D Settings, add the Rome Total War executable to the list (if it's not there already) and manually select "use high performance Nvidia GPU" instead of auto detect. It does this with lots of older games, and sometimes random ones using DX9.

Does anyone know what the Turbo button does on the GT60/70 though? I'm kind of curious. I don't have one of these, but am looking into it since the BIOS seems more open than Sager's and I like the Super-Raid concept while still retaining a data drive and blu-ray player. One thing I wonder about though is the fan, since there's only one, is it big enough to sufficiently cool the CPU/GPU. In my NP9150 right now I can easily get the CPU + GPU to 90 and throttling (not at the same time, GPU in prolonged games where utilization is at 99% and the CPU hits 90s easily trying to encode anything. Since there's 2 fans on that one, I do worry about the GT70 only having a single fan, even though its heat pipes do look larger from the pictures I've seen.

    No

SuperCharger to overclock the GPU so Yes, TurboBoostMonitor No, cyberlink youcam disable/uninstall it, intel graphics - you can exit the system tray (its not redundant, the onboard hd4000 integrated is the primary graphics adapter while the Nvidia is the one used during gaming, you can change the default behavior, please read online about nvidia optimus)

Turbo is only GPU overclocking, it will only enhance the gaming performance.

    No

Its ON by default in the latest BIOS version

It should boot as the chipset is the same, make sure the cpu is set properly it the bracket and give it sometime to boot

If you want to install the OS in raid config then yes, you will have to supply the drivers during the installation, if not raid then the process should be normal. you will have to change the options in the bios to enable/disable raid

Undoubtedly frustrating experience. My GT780R was doing basically the same thing and progressively getting worse over the past several months, to the point that there was basically no way I could insert it/wiggle it/or otherwise angle the connector in to make contact. It was never the snuggest fit to begin with when I got the laptop last August/September, but now it was so loose it would just fall out on it's own.

My experience with MSI, however, was the polar opposite of yours. I put in my tech support request through their online portal and basically told them flat out the jack was loose and wouldn't make a connection to charge. I got an RMA number dispatched to me in 10 minutes (on a Friday evening no less). On Monday, took the laptop to FedEx and shipped it all of 15km to the Canadian repair centre at a cost of about $31 insured, got notification that the repair was completed and device shipping back on Friday, fully repaired laptop the following week.

The new jack looks and feels a little different to the old one (longer center pin, overall much tighter fit). Maybe you just got a crappy tech support guy, or I got lucky and got Mr. No Questions Asked. :(

Sorry for the double post, can't edit posts on tapatalk!

I posted in the network sun forum but no answer, so maybe you guys can help me out.
I'm about to order a gt60 0ne 249us, but am not sure as to which wireless card to get.

Specifically, I'm trying to decide between the killer 1202 and intel 6235

I know the 1202 is much faster and lower latency, but the 6235 has widi, which I am interested in.

I've also heard that killer has driver problems when it comes to MSI?

So, do you think the 1202's performance increase over the 6235 is worth using hdmi instead of widi?

Just placed order with Xotic PC for a GT70 202 model with IC Diamond application, 72 percent gamut glossy, and Advanced-N 6235 wireless.
Hope it is a laptop that I will be pleased with. :)

I believe the driver problems were the built in LAN chip which got solved with an update.

If the 6235 has real utility for you then go for it, but it does require suitable equipment on the other end and can be expensive if I remember correctly.

Tried to tell him that he could fix it himself. He hasn't returned to NBR so I think it was just for him to vent. Too bad... you can learn a lot here!

I thought MSi had 2 year warranties on their stock production?

I see MSi's Accidental Damage Warranty is for 1 Year.
To be noted - the policy doesn't apply to MSI Netbook (WIND), barebone, whitebox or OEM products.
Also doesn't cover inadequate custom installations.

The Canadian depot is in Markham, Ontario, all of like 3 blocks from where I grew up. :) Shipping my GT780 in for RMA reminded me of shipping my Xbox 360 in for an RRoD repair since that was only going to the big Celestica facility in North York (Don Mills and Eglinton; midtown).

If they didn't fix this under warranty, I was actually going to try to fix it myself! NBR is great for all this type of information. At that point, I probably would have also swapped in an SSD and tried swapping the GPU since I would otherwise have a brick anyway if it couldn't charge.

The warranty cards from my US spec GT780 all said 2-year warranty, and Canadian warranty registration goes through the same database as the US, so my assumption is we get the same policy. I do vaguely remember getting complimentary ADW coverage, but that might have only been for the first year.
