Im curious but how well does nvidia inspector work for forcing pstates on the gt70 0nd with the gtx 675m? Will it work to OC the card higher than +135? Does the gpu still throttle even with nvidia inspector? Ive heard that the software is supposed to stop the throttling for other laptops at least with the exception of the gpu throttling when it reaches a certain temp.

The beta EC on MSI.com should be just fine with the 0nd and the 675M is fermi based so does not work the same way as the kepler cards and should overclock more out of the box but svet's vbios editor has full support for it so you can set whatever values you like.

You think nvidia inspector would work fine OC after flashing the beta EC?

You can try but most you can get on 3DMark vantage GPU score is around 15500 on GTX675M which is not bad.

    Hi!

My Tab-Key fell off once and I tried to put it back on with no success, went I look at it, I saw that it was broken ( the two top "holders" is broken off)
Is there anything I can do right now? I really don't want to replace the complete keyboard, do superglue work?
    I'am using a gt70.

    Thank you

I am looking to purchase the Dragan edition gt70. I will have to reload it with windows 7 though. I have looked all over MSI website and can't find notebook drivers. I am trying to do some prelim research before my decision. Any guides or links to download drivers for the gt70?

Be careful if you buy this laptop (GT70 ONE). Their warranty (MSI) is terrible, i had one for 4 months and was able to play every game with decent frame rates but the computer died on me (no power). 3 weeks have passed since sending it to them for repair/replacement and still no laptop. Calling them up to ask questions is like talking to a brick wall, emails have no responses. If you do decide to "risk" buying one just hope that you never have to deal with them for repairs. $2500 down the toilet.

Responding to a status request email - especially when it's 3 weeks into an RMA process - is not "stellar support," it is a bare minimum standard of service. If MSI can't even clear that incredibly low hurdle, then I'd say the OP has every right to feel disappointed.

Ive read quite a few of good reviews on MSI laptops though but I haven't heard much on customer service. I originally was looking at ibuypower but read too many poor reviews about them plus I didnt few like waiting 2-4 weeks for a laptop to be built when I could purchase a MSI one on amazon and get it within a few days to a week for a tiny bit more. :p Amazon.com: MSI Computer Corp GT70 0ND-444US 17.3-Inch Laptop: Computers & Accessories Hoping that computer will be a wise choice. :p

I have basically the same laptop ( 202 model) but with Windows 7 and no blu-ray drive.
Installed glossy instead of standard matte screen & applied Diamond thermal paste to GPU & CPU.

I would highly suggest dropping in a solid state drive in the SATA III primary slot.
Use the 750 GB SATA II as backup for data.

After doing this my Windows Experience Index went from 5.8 to 7.4!

Finally enjoying this laptop now!

Help Needed! I recently purchased a GT60 0NE and have been attempting to install a SSD drive. I have purchase two different drives, a G.SKILL phoenix 3 and a Kingston 200V+. The bios will not recognize either one in the first drive slot. However, If i install them in the 2nd drive bay, the bios will recognize them and i can install windows. Once windows is installed, i can't use the first drive bay for a data drive because windows won't boot from the second drive bay. So i have to leave the first drive bay empty. Will someone please tell me what SSD drive will work in the GT60 0NE. I contacted tech support and they couldn't help me. I also updated the bios on the motherboard and checked the firmware version on each drive.

I use an OCZ vertex 512GB, it's given me 0 issues and I have not had to update the firmware.

By the way I got a chance to use the 4 displays on the workstation (3 external + internal) was pretty awesome to see it powering them all.

    It works flawlessly!

Interesting. I was planning on an OCZ Vertex but read they had a lot of problems with them. Which version do you have?

To be honest you shouldnt have any issues with any big brand ssd drive. As long as you dont defragment it you will be fine.

    Hi All,
I just took delivery of my brand new MSI GT70 ONE452US and I'm a little confused. I ran the Windows Experience Index and it get a 5.9...the graphics is what brought it down. I have a Nvidia 680M (supposedly the best possible mobile graphics card). Anyone have any ideas as to why this is so low?

I literally just unboxed it no changes yet.

LPM fix work in windows 8? I'm not able to get my 2nd Samsung 840 Pro to run SATA3 speeds. Or is it forced to SATA2? It seems odd they have the 2nd SATA3 port one that isn't being used. I guess the next question is if there is a ribbon cable to be able to use it? Then it would theoretically be possible to do 3 SATA drives or 4 with a bay adapter.

That's about what I got on my GT70 having unboxed it. I threw in a SSD and it increased to 7.4! I installed a fresh copy of Windows as well and updated all drivers to current ones. Graphics are still holding back from reaching the pinnacle as I have a GTX 675M.

---Just noticed you already have a 128GB SSD mSATA in it.
I would still update all of the drivers.

So do most people who are gaming on their laptops experiencing throttling randomly or does high temps trigger it? Also how is the beta EC working for anyone whos tried it and are you able to get decent OC out of your gpu?

    Keep in mind:

After a BIOS flash the Embedded Controller must be reset to avoid wrong power readings amongst other things.

    1. Turn notebook OFF with button - hold for 4 seconds
    2. Remove recharge plug
    3. Remove battery
    4. Leave it alone for about 5 minutes.
    5. Put everything back then power up the laptop again.

Many people have to RMA their laptops because of a bad flash or wrong flash.
Do NOT flash just because you want to - only if you really NEED to flash to fix something. ;)

I don't have to need to flash a Bios, just the beta EC that stops throttling when gaming. :p

That was more or less a general advisement.
You needn't have to be flippant.

I suppose that the beta is the reason for the throttling issue.
When it becomes throughly tested the problem may be resolved.

This response may be of some help.

Hi, i have a GT70 0NC, with the following specs:

    i7 3610qm
    GTX 675M 2gb
    12 GB RAM
    750 GB HDD
    Win7 64 bits

The problem is: When i am playing games like GTA IV, the gpu usage drops from 99% to 30% because of the CPU, i don't know exactaly why, but when i'm in the original map of liberty city, the gpu drops causing lags, but when i enter the add-on map called Red Dead Desert (new version) the gpu usage stays at 99% all the time, and i really don't care if my notebook will melt, i just want to play my games at full speed. This specifically case occured to GTA IV, in other games like Far Cry 3, Hitman Absolution, Assassins Creed 3, Call Of Duty Black ops 2 and etc, the gpu usage issue happens all the time.
And i know there is something to do with the CPU, and maybe with the 78c temps.

    Thanks in advance.

Windows 8 defragment on an SSD is just TRIM. Windows 7 yes turn off. IDK I had lots of issues with the earlier SandForce drives. The issues are *possibly* fixed but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I prefer Intel, Crucial, Samsung for stability but some of the newer Marvel drives look promising (M5P, etc).

Hey guys, I've had my msi gt70 for a while now but just recently got around to overclocking it. It has a GTX 670M with base clock speeds of 620/1500. However, I used afterburner to OC it to 675/1600. My question is what happenes when I am at OC'd clock speeds when I press the turbo button? Does that solely affect cpu or does it only affect gpu? I ask this because different reviews are saying different things.

    Thanks in advance! :)

You have to be in turbo mode to overclock since it moves the GPU from the P1 performance state (which most overclocking programs cant write to) to P0 (where most overclocking programs look).

In ALL sandy bridge and Ivy bridge systems (Core 2xxx, core 3xxx) it ONLY changes GPU speed.

Thanks for the reply! I overclocked using afterburner but turbo mode was off. After applying settings, I noticed (using GPU-Z) that the overclocking still worked when I pressed the turbo button (even though the settings were applied with turbo off). Essentially, the turbo button acts as my overclock toggle switch which overclocks my GPU to the set frequencies. Is this supposed to happen or should my overclocked frequencies be on all the time?

P.S. GPU-Z still shows overclocked frequencies for "GPU Clock" section with turbo mode off

Hi all, I registrered here 'cause I'm getting very frustrated with my MSI GT60. It isn't overlocked and just straight out of the factory so no seals are broken. The problem is my laptop crashes from time to time. Not always but sometimes. For example. Whenever I play League of Legends (Not at all hard to run) and I get around 15 min ingame my frame rate drops to 25 frames p sec. Which is strange.. But whatever. I turn on my fanbutton and it immediately crashes. It doesn't crash every time I do that, but sometimes it does. So I restart my laptop and even before it was at the Windows Log in it crashes again. Then I start it up again and everything goes normal.

Not a while back I was working in Adobe After Effects CS6 with some big footage. That day my laptop crashed 4 times. I was working in the program and for no reason my screen went black for 3 seconds. Then it went back to normal.

Hope you guys will understand my basic English. Thanks in advance.

could be GPU overheating, you can try check the GPU temperature by using the MSI Afterburner see what temperature you are getting with GPU.

    Hey Folks!

Just ordered myself a GT70 and I have a question. My rig has a single 750gb 7200rpm drive. I've been reading that these computers have a second hard drive slot. I was thinking I'd add a small SSD to it for the OS and use the 750 for everything else. Do you have to buy a special bracket to mount this in the machine or is everything I already need already in there?

Sorry if this has already been asked. I wasn't able to find any information.

    Thanks!

It came with brackets and screws for the secondary hard drive. if you want to install SSD it's recommend move your 750GB to the secondary slot and use SSD on the primary because primary slot is SATA 3 6 Gb/s and secondary is SATA 2 3 Gb/s.

Thanks to Ken, my GT60 ONE 403US is here, and running great. Feels VERY solid. I've not been able to play anything as of yet due to training, but hopefully I can get some game time in on it this week. I do wish the buttons on the track pad were two separate buttons vs the one single chrome button.

Have to download 3D Mark to see where my unit is performing. Thanks Ken, appreciate it greatly!

Hey everyone I have a couple questions about my GT60 0NC-004US,
First off this is my system specs,
    I7 3610QM
    20GB DDR3
    GTX 670 3GB
    3 X HDD 2 x 240gb Corsair Force GT, 1x 750gb hdd

My question is I want to upgrade the video card and Cpu, To the highest I can, So ive seen on ebay that there are 4gb 680's that will supposedly fit my computer. Does anyone know for sure if that will. Also what is the highest processor I can get for this? Does anyone know of any good online retailers that sell this stuff. Thank you
