I found this by using google: Initial Optimus Support For Linux Available With Nvidia Graphics Drivers 319.12 Beta ~ Web Upd8: Ubuntu / Linux blog
Optimus is only supported if you use this driver. Maybe if you use a little bit older driver, optimus wont work and you just use the dedicated gpu.
@all: I´m interested in buying the MSI GT70-75X285FD for 1099.
This seems to be a very fair price for that notebook (i7-3630QM, GTX 675MX, 8Gb Ram, 500gb HDD, no OS)
Does anyone of you have this laptop, or at least the same hardware (especially the GTX 675MX)?
If anyone has similar settings, how is the performance in Crysis 3, Grid 2, and Battlefield 3.
Also, is it possible, to oc the GTX 675MX, and if yes, how far?

I have my second drive in without a bracket. I just wedged in some sticky tack. Seems to hold in well. Never had any problems. -
i have been running my GT70 with VGA overclock since i bought it years ago, however now when i push the TURBO button the Turbo On icon starts then 2 second later the Turbo Off icon comes on. I can keep it running. The MSI VGA Overclock tool is running and the Enable is checked. I tried re-installing/repairing the SCM and Turbo software, did not fix the problem. Any idea what may be causing it to start and pretty much stop operating?

I had a question that I haven't been able to find an answer for elsewhere. I recently purchased a MSI GT60 2OD-026US and also a Dell U2713HM to use as an external display. Despite using an HDMI cable to connect the two, I've only been able to get the Dell monitor to run at a 1920 × 1080 resolution instead of the maximum of 2,560x1,440. HDMI should have no problem running 2,560x1,440 from my understanding. Would using the mini display port as the connector fix this? Thanks!

Does anyone know what a good upgrade could be for the standard Intel 2230 N wireless card? Looking for one which can handle 5 GHZ, or is better than the stock one... Is this always swappable, as in, can the antenna cables placed back? Got myself a 5 GHZ router and would like to take the full benefit of it.

You could look at the new intel AC models or the 6235 if you are not going to go AC any time soon,
-
I think it's best to switch to AC... Should this card fit? Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 Plus Bluetooth - Prijzen - Tweakers
I'm not sure if the slot is a standard one, and wil fit almost everything including antenna's et cetera. -

Hello, I just recently got a GT60 2OC (nv 770M).
The installed display card driver version is 311.48, while the WHQL nVidia driver is currently 320.49.
Is there a more updated version of display card driver from MSI? I asked because from geforce.com using the autodetect tools it stated that "Your product manufacturer requires you to download a driver for your device from their website" -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
No, the latest beta supports it or you can use a modded inf from laptopvideo2go.com
-
-
laptopvideo2go.com tries to catch all Nvidia laptop drivers as soon as they are out.
-
-
Thanks for the reminder. My guess is that the driver from MSI will take care of both Intel 4600 and GTX 770M, and this might be the reason why installing nVidia driver will give you nothing but trouble..?
-
Installed the beta drivers last night and everything is working flawlessly.
-
Sorry I got the threads confused, I have the GT60 2OC with the 770m which doesn't seem to support nvidia's new drivers. I haven't tried the latest beta driver though, I guess I'll try it.

Go for those, nvidia betas tend to be pretty good.

Hey everyone,
Bought a GT60 2OE-002US a couple of weeks. After fighting with Windows 8 for a few days, I went back to Windows 7-64 Ultimate and things were good. A day ago, I ran into some problems with getting the machine to work with a Microsoft Sculpt Touch blue tooth mouse (couldn't maintain a steady connection). That's when I started to have issues with the computer switching from discrete to integrated graphics at 3-5 second intervals making the machine unusable. A reboot would fix, but every time the display went to sleep and I woke it up with the mouse, it did the flashing thing. It then started to do it on reboot. After doing some reading and learning an orange power button meant Nvidia and white meant Intel, I rebooted into safe mode, disabled the Nvidia and restarted Windows. Problem solved. But I no longer have access to integrated graphics and, hence, games. Any ideas?

I just purchased a GT60-0ND-250 today and the backlit keyboard worked fine when I booted the system for the first time. I then installed a SSD and installed win8 on the ssd. System is running fine now, but I can't for the life of me get the backlit keyboard to light up... Any one have any ideas? TIA, JR

Thanks man! I found the install on the hdd, but could not find it on the msi site. Nice to know it does exist... now have it bookmarked... appreciate it!

The graphics issue is likely a program triggering the dGPU, I would activate the icon in the nvidia control panel that tells you what is using the GPU (NV control panel - Desktop tab - display gpu activity in taskbar). -
Hi everyone!
I have a problem with my Nvidia GTX 680M fan speed. Everytime my laptop uses the Nvidia GPU for display (ie, the power button has the orange light), my fan cranks up to full power. So, this happens when I run simple apps like Steam and even with GPU-Z, and it does it even when my gpu's temperature is on 38 degrees Celsius, so it's not like the card is overheating.
Things I have tried to get this fixed:
- Flashed to new firmware which is currently on the MSI website for download.
- Downloaded, reinstalled and made sure that my NVIDIA drivers are up to date.
- I tried using MSI Afterburner to manually change the fan speed, but Afterburner won't enable the user defined fan control for me, there isn't even the option to enable it in the settings of Afterburner.
Am I just missing something here? Is it supposed to be like that?
I seriously want this to be fixed, because I would love to be able to run steam and have it download updates/games while I am busy studying etc (so it doesn't sound like an airplane taking off).
I have the MSI GT60 0NE, with the NVIDIA GTC680M.
Thanks in advance. -

Fan control is ec specific and needs to be updated separately to the bios, have you updated the ec?

Hi guys,
I have msi gt60 0nd and I just orderd ssd drive which is ( samsung 840 pro 128gb)
Then I realized that I should have a bracket to put it in my laptop
But I just don't have one and it doesn't came with the laptop
So, 1-where can I buy this bracket? And which one?
2- can I put the ssd drive without this bracket?
3- how do I knew which port is sata 3 and which one is sata 2
Please help
Thanks... -
I have my SSD in my GT70 without a bracket. It's being held in by some poster putty. I just molded into the spacing around the drive. Works well!
SATA III drive location.
This disassembly guide should be of help to you in future.
Now you should be good to go! -
Ditto, I just bought the GT70 and cannot stop the dang BSOD and IRQL Drivers overrunning overflow stack. I load 16GB Kingston RAM along with MSI put in it. I know my RAM is good. Goi going to test RAM and then analyze the log on MEM dumps and go from there.... I suspect it is the Killer wireless card although Microsoft Display Adapter driver cannot recognize my laptop monitor.
Any help if you have a stable system or advice would be greatly appreciated. I can't even i make it through downloading new drivers. -

Have you tried it with either the stock ram or the kingston by themselves?

Hello! I have question about the gt60.
How many of you have problems with charging the gt60s ?
I had the gt683 and my pc broken 5 times because of the 'not-connecting' power cable. I couldn't rely on it...
Now the gt683 has been replaced due to the issue to gt60 and I wonder how does the gt60 work... Should I sell it and bouy sth more reliable like clevo? I don't want to repair the pc once a month...
Is it fixed? -
So I just got my msi GT70 2OC and I'm very pleased with it, although I do want to run some imperfections by you folks and see if anyone else notices/is bothered by these things:
1. The keyboard, especially around the "QWEASD" block, generally used for movement in games, has an insane amount of flex. I mean, as I'm typing this message, it feels like my left hand is bouncing off a trampoline.
2. The trackpad (I'm obviously not talking about gaming right now) is decent for single-finger movement, but forget about multi-touch gestures. Synaptics claims to offer 2-finger scrolling and 3-finger swiping, but these gestures only work for me about 50% of the time. And to make them work, I can't gently brush my fingers over the top of the trackpad, I have to dig them in aggressively, as though I'm interacting with something that responds to pressure rather than touch.
On a brighter note, I do notice the following good things, contrary to what I've seen in reviews:
1. The build quality is great (other than the keyboard issue I mentioned). This thing is just as solid as a Sager. When you pick it up and walk around with it, it doesn't feel like it will run through your fingers. The screen can be raised and lowered from just one side without feeling like it'll break (unlike ASUS).
2. The sound system really does make a difference. I can't talk about ASUS because I haven't heard theirs, but compared to Sager, it is a huge advantage. Of course, it depends on you and your lifestyle. People say that all laptop speakers suck, but if you're a bachelor in a bachelor pad and don't have room for a big sound system and/or big TV, this thing is great for curling up and watching movies with your significant other without needing subtitles, or for watching stuff while washing dishes (the speakers can cut through the background noise)
3. I had seen many complaints about the screen in reviews. Notebookcheck says the screen isn't bright enough. I don't know what they are talking about. I find the screen plenty nice. I had actually compared it side-by-side with the ASUS G750JX and I found that the GT70 has much more vibrant colors and far less refraction due to the matte finish than the G750.
4. The design is much more austere and professional looking than the old msi's (unless you got the Dragon edition!). I've been able to bring this thing to meetings (I don't mind the 8-9lbs of this model) without looking juvenile.
I will post some performance specs in the next few weeks once I'm done setting it up and re-acquainting myself with Windows.... I've been on a Mac for the past few years so it will take some time to readjust to the never-ending possibilities of the Windows world, especially with Windows 8 moving things around to weird places.
Oh, and does anyone know if it's possible to reprogram the soft-touch buttons above the keyboard? I want the far left button, the one that looks like a roll of film, to launch SMPlayer or VLC, not the pre-installed bloatware garbage that came with the machine. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
1. Remove the cover above the keyboard and see if it's secured properly.
2.That tends to be a practise thing I have found. -
Hey guys,
maybe you can help me.
I'm currently on a "small" problem.
I got my GT70 3 days ago with "FreeDOS" and installed Win7 first then Win8 and i dont know about the BIOS... is it normal that there are so less options? (there are just like boot options, set password, time and date..)
And then i still dont figured out how to get the turbo button working, its fading on and off and SMC opens and i have to define a key (but i dont know what to define..).
And then after playing for around 20-30 mins my laptop freezes (link to thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/msi/730662-msi-gt70-weird-slow-down-during-gaming.html)
Thats during games: http://i.imgur.com/3Vp2tCy.png
Benchmark: http://i.imgur.com/XPQfLXW.png
my laptop just starting a diashow and i cant do anything since the temprature is slow down a bit... i dont know, maybe its the thermal paste? Wrong driver/bad/missing drivers? I dont know...
thanks in advice -
Hey guys
I just have a few questions, hoping someone on here will be able to help me out...
So I've ordered a GT60(Spec= 4800mq i7, gtx 780m, 16gb ram + 2 msata in raid 0) and I am wondering about the turbo button feature. Has anyone tested this?
Does it really work? And what does this mean for overclocking? If the turbo already overclocks my laptop will it only effect it with the turbo button off or will overclocking push the laptop further with the button on?
Msi say the button overclocks the system itself so can you configure how much the turbo overclocks or is this basically as far as it can go?
Thanks guys

I bought a GT60 2OC last week and overall I'm happy with it. The built-in microphone though has a very low quality and records a metallic, cavernous sound. I read in this thread about how there's a plastic piece is left inside secren bezel covering the mic but I also read that it's true for only GT70s and not GT60s. So I was wondering if this awful microphone performance could be caused by something else? Have anyone had a similar problem with their GT60 and opened up the screen bezel?
-
I installed Windows 8.1 RTM, now the Turbo button does not work anymore. I updated to the latest drivers. MSI does not provide "real" drivers and OC utility (can't blame them... yet...).
Is there anyway to enable the Turbo button again? With MSI Afterburner I can OC the card, but don't know if it's "really" overclocked. I set it to 650/1600, and to 670/1600, but don't have any idea how far it goes and if it does work.
Also, what is the reason I (and I think everyone else) can't game while on battery? Does only work when AC is plugged in. Laptop does switch to NVIDIA card, but only underclocked. Maybe there is some kind of way to game while on battery.
I have a GT60 with generation 3 Intel Ivy Bridge.
I upgraded from 8.0 to 8.1, did not have any issues with it. Drivers are working out-of-the-box, did not require to do some special things... Webcam, audio, BT, microphone, gaming, all does work. Originally laptop came with Windows 7. Did flash a new BIOS et cetera, also used the Windows 8.0 SCM. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The sensors to the right of the overclocking controls should show you the frequency they are running at.
It's unlikely those speeds are setting with MSI afterburner.
If you download nvidia inspector you can target the non turbo state (P1 rather than P0) and you can then overclock without turbo. -
Hey there!
I am wondering if anyone here had a problem like I do
I just bought a GT60, since it's the most "inbetween" notebook as it comes to mobility and power, right now I belive. It is stocked with exactly:
- i7-4700MQ
- GTX 770M
- 16GB RAM + 1TB HDD
I provided it with Win7 Professinal N and default drivers. And my problem is that when I was installing the drivers ( I belive the PCI one ) the screen started to flicker ( diode under the screen goes from repeatedly from orange to white ) and it does that ever since, every time I turn on the GT60 on.
I am wondering, is that a problem with the processor, bus, or maybe just this driver? I don't remember it flickering before I installed the driver -
Has anyone gotten Mass Effect, GTA IV, or Max Payne to work on these laptops?
-
Has anyone else experienced issues with the turbo button since the latest nvidia driver update?
GT-60 0NC -
Been playing the Battlefield 4 Beta at almost Ultra settings locked at 30fps, so its nice to know my laptop can still run 'next gen' games.

You can duplicate that button with nvidia inspector targetting the p1 state.

It isn't the same
but I'll deal or rollback drivers

Ok... I have tried going through the 101+ pages of the forum... and I cannot find (I also used the search function) anyone saying where the best place to get BIOS updates for my GT70-0ND. I tried the MSI site but all it does is tell me that page is no longer available. The last BIOS update I have is from April 2012... Thanks in advance... BTW... glad to have found this site... You guys are awesome...

Hey, I recently just got a the GT70 2OC-008US, and from what i can tell its a pretty great machine. The thing is, after gaming on League for like an hour and a half there was a significant FPS drop from a average of 200 dropping down to 100 and further drooping down to 60 and even as low as 30 in Aram. I asked a friend of mine and said that theres an issue with the drivers not kicking in, I mean like i had my original one replaced and the replaced copy of the gt70 model i wanted also had the same issue..... Has anyone experienced this also? is there a defect???
