SO.... I went from Windows 7 to Windows 8 probably 6 to 8 months ago on my GT70-0ND. I hated it so much I reloaded factory software with the MSI discs. Somehow my turbo mode (to MAKE my CPU go to 3.2) stopped working. I have been doing a lot of searching on how to correct my turbo problem (went back to EQ and it is more CPU dependent than RAM and Vcard) and all I have found is reinstall S-Bar (which I did). Now my Turbo comes on... and goes back off in about 2 to 3 seconds. I did more searching and someone said reinstall the VGA OC tool. I did that too (I uninstalled both of them first and then did a reinstall) and it really didnt do anything. I still have all of 2 to 3 seconds of turbo. I don't know where to go from here. All of my drivers are up to date, OS is up to date... please help... I want my Turbo back... Thanks ahead of time for all the help.

Intel xtu can be used to achieve the same impact if you like.

Ya.... but I am afraid of overdoing it. I like knowing that MSI has already done it for me. Is there no chance to get my Turbo back with the S-Bar?

No the functionality got blocked as methods of changing clocks changed. Just add 2 to each of the multpliers for the same impact in XTU.

How do you change the multipliers? Mine seem to be locked. Or I'm looking in the wrong area.

Also, how to you link the setting in XUT to the Turbo button?

Ya... the only thing it will let me change is the reference clock and its voltage.

The VGA OC only works with MSI's boxed Nvidia driver but not original Nvidia driver since MSI's driver was customized.
If you really wish to overclock the GPU then you can use Afterburner to obtain the desired results. Or you can ask Svet at MSI forum for assistance with unlocked BIOS and VGA BIOS.

    Hey guys! How are you?

I've already requested help for the following problem but o couldn't get a solution: My steelseries keyboard lights only works in 2 modes, normal and gaming mode. If I set it to breathing or any other option it wont light up. I've tried everything, from firmware update to even updating the windows 10 and cleaning everything there was in my SSD, none of this have solved the problem. Do you guys have any idea of what it could possibly be?

The SCM is up to date too, and I even used a brand new login to my windows 10 which I've just finished a clean install for the second time.

@edit: I don't believe its a hardware problem, because if I use KLM (keyboard light manager, the previous MSI program for managing the keyboard lights) it works quite ok, at least for sometime.

What's your current BIOS & EC version? Those applications may be tied to EC firmware.

    I
I used to had the same problem, I bought my GT70 2PC from XoticPC, so the windows installation was the one they made, and audio mode didn't worked. What I did, was uninstall EVERY driver, and EVERY MSI software, then proceed to download the manufacturer versions from the MSI site and install them in the order they gave me, even if the installer said I had a newer version installed. Same with the software, I installed EVERYTHING from the site, and the keyboard lights fully worked. Then I let Windows Update to update the drivers and disabled (not uninstalled) some MSI software.

Bios version is E1763IMS.511, and EC Version is 1763EMS1. I also attached an image for my bios info.

I appreciate your reply Fabrizzio. I've never thought of that. Indeed, there were 2 or 3 software that I didn't install due to a newer version, but all of them were from MSI website and installed in the order that they recommend. I will try it again and post the result

    @edit: I've just uninstalled/reinstalled all my program/drivers and it didn't work :( :(
I paid almost 1500 dollars in my rig, it should work perfectly... I'm losing the little hope that I had

    Hi guys

Really I don't know how to rephrase my question but I'll tell you my story :)
I own a msi GT70 2pc dominator 895 last year I bought it and I really want to enjoy its full power I know there is a lot of new models in the market much power than mine but I have to sell mine and get extra money to buy a new one so I'm considering upgrading components o_O
my situation now I'm wondering if I can upgrade my gpu from gtx870m mxm to gtx970m or gtx980m mxm without any chance of gpu thermal throttle or cpu bottleneck
I already did researches I need to modify heatsink of the 870m to be matching with the 970m or 980m cards *btw is the power adapter enough to power up 970m and 980m*

also I'm considering to upgrade my hdd to MSI Super RAID mSATA Adapter Board later on
    my laptop spec

You can upgrade your MSI GT70 2pc dominator 895 with GTX 970M or GTX 980M, MSI Super RAID and 230W PSU.
I did upgrade with 230W PSU and is definitely better than the original 180W.

You can get Clevo, Alienware Nvidia GTX 970M, 980M from Ebay. MSI Nvidia GTX 980M 8GB is available from this site:
    http://www.hidevolution.com/nvidia-gtx-980m-8gb-upgrade-kit-for-msi-gt72.html
230 PSU is also available from Ebay:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-DELTA-A...310768?hash=item4aceb15fb0:g:3LcAAOSwd4tTsqZK
You'll need this cable in order to fit 230W PSU to your MSI GT70:
    http://www.bixnet.com/cntx75.html
You have to buy or modify heatsink if you want to upgrade to Nvidia GTX 970M, 980M. More info see this thread:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/the-official-msi-gt60-70-970m-980m-upgrade-thread.765058/
Original heatsink from MSI GT70 2PC Dominator GTX 970M is no longer available on Ebay, but if you can find it is a better option than modifying your existing heatsink.

Hey guys, I have a question regarding the CPU!

I'm playing Fallout 4 in my GT70 2PC, but it hasn't been the best experience ever. I know that notebooks have their limitations when playing high demanding games, but what is the limitating factor here? My CPU is an i7 4810 (2.8GHz) but the game requires at least 3.0GHz, might this be a problem? I've already read somewhere that this CPU is capable of reaching more than 3.0GHz with turbo boost, but is it automatic?

    CPU isn't really an issue.
Try using Nvidia GeForce experience to set the settings for you for best results.

can I use in the HP HSTNN-LA12 230W power supply for the GT70 MS-1763 from my signatur? http://www.netzteilshop.at/hp-hstnnla12-p-50568.html + Adapter course.

I've heard that the MS-1763 only max. Can accommodate 180W, even if a 230W power supply is used. Only with the older MS-1761 & MS-1762 is to bring what a 230W power supply. Can anyone refute it?

You can, as long as the tip connector is identical.
That's correct, it's EC that chooses how much power can be draw because it serves as a floodgate. With unlocked EC then this floodgate can be removed, which creates another issue, the specification on the power circuit may burn out because the high energy exceeds its manufacturer specification.

all right thanks. Then I let it probably prefer :) The power of 180W power supply ranges from actually yes, the battery discharges just a bit faster. A 3h Party Anno 2205 costs usually about 20-30% battery power.

I guess those are my values otherwise ok:
    http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/10580067
    http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/9480636

The ability to unlock the bios of the GT70 did not purely coincidental? :) I have here are a MS-1763 without MXM graphics card. Because I would like to activate only the Intel IGP and operate the device without MXM GPU. Currently then running but the fan on maximum.

Svet can do an unlocked bios for the GT70, with that you can change it to IGP mode and stop the fan just maxing out.

Having an issue with my 3k IPS edition GT60. I upgraded to Win 10, and I'm currently having an issue where it appears the graphics keeps randomly switching between Intel and Nvidia. Now if I keep a game running in the background, Nvidia stays on and there's no issues. If I close all games, I get intermittent stuttering while the graphics keeps switching. I updated both drivers to the most up to date ones, but it didn't fix anything.

Worse, I've had a problem with my Intel wifi card w/ bluetooth--since nearly the day i got it. Wifi works fine, but BT keeps flickering on/off. Any ideas on either of these?

Turn off power saving for the wifi card in device manager.

Do you have any gpu monitoring active?

The power adapter for my gt60 won't charge it but the led light is on and when I plug it into the laptop it starts blinking instead. Is there anyway I can fix it or do I need a replacement? If so, where can I find a good one.

The notebook is totally out of battery and the ac adapter is the thing blinking but when I don't plug it into the laptop then the led is a bright solid blue vs. Dim blinking blue when plugged.

Don't have any GPU monitoring that I know of--and I never installed any 3rd party apps. I turned off power saving, but still seeing no changes. SCM shows on/off, and I even get a BT icon in my tray that appears and disappears at regular intervals as well.

What's the best way to "purge" the intel card entirely, removing all drivers, software, etc--and just starting fresh? I did this before in 8.1, but in 10--this doesn't seem to be working as well.

    p.s.
anyone else frustrated that every new version of windows makes the control panel menus seem more and more fragmented?

    No problem.
By the way, the blinking on the AC adapter indicates insufficient wattage.

I've been having intermittent problems with my GT70 2PE with the screen losing sync with the GPU under load. Only happens in COH2 when there's a bunch of units on the screen. The screen will go crazy as if you selected an incorrect resolution and it's not quite able to sync into the 1080. I can immediately return it to normal by connecting and disconnecting an external monitor or just playing that game on the external display works as well.

Diablo 3, Simcity, Starcraft 2 all work fine.

I'm on Windows 10 and even though I explained to MSI Tech Support the problem was actually more prevalent on Windows 8.1 they want me to restore back to 8.1

I paid the $35 fee to get the DVD burner generated, hand labelled MSI restore disks and once they arrived pressed F11 during startup to select the boot drive. While this has worked before now I just get a black screen with a small white block or line in the upper mid-left portion of the screen. Pressing Delete to enter setup does the same thing.

Just booting up the Windows 10 installed drive works fine.

Any hint/tricks to get this working so as I suspect do I need to send it back? Also does MSI have authorized warranty providers anything in the US where I can drop it off? Perhaps in one of the larger cities in GA or FL?

I just installed 2 sticks of high performance 8 GB DDR3-1600 SDRAM memory into my GT70. The other two are old 4 GB DDR3-1600 sticks. My question is will the old RAM affect the new ones?

The timings will be set to the slowest setting of any stick in the system. So 11-11-11-32 ram with 9-9-9-35 ram would run at roughly 11-11-11-35 say, sometimes things a get a little fudged. It works, but you wont get any faster ram.

I'll say in this thread too that I am glad we finally got what amounts to a GT62 :)

    Thanks for the explanation Meaker.
Timing is (9-9-9-28 @ 800 MHz) for the new and (11-11-11-28 @ 800 MHz) old.

Where are DIMM slots 2 & 4 located?

So it's like what Meaker said, that the newer ones will downgrade to match up to the memory speed of the older sticks? That being said, then the upgrade cannot improve things until the old memory has been removed. Ugh! :(

Now I noticed that both new and old are running at 1333 MHz, yet the old still have to be removed?

Guys, hi all! Tell me, I have 51x BIOS version for your model of laptop GT70-0nd. Can I take an official version of the BIOS, for example 50x and flash? Would not the problem?

Instead of post or necroing my old thread I thought I'd try here:

Got a GT70-0NC with borked up fan speeds. It'll go from 100% to 0% every 10 or seconds cycling constantly until it's turned of. The issue persists BIOS as well. I have no idea if this issue persisted before the fan died as I bought if off a friend cheap who couldn't fix it himself (tech noob deluxe who managed to tear of the cables after he tried to clean it himself). He never mentioned it either so it's hard to say if there's a hardware issue at hand. I cleaned her up like new and bought two spare fans (I've tried both) just in case in which is when I discovered this issue which I inquired him about but he had no idea.

I've updated BIOS and ME firmware but to no avail, as the issue persisted. I've try using Afterburner and some MSI fan controller MOD self user made, but the fan speed won't stay put. Lately it'll just shut off randomly without temps below 40c all across the board. I did some 3dmark and Unigine in the past (spring/summer last year) it passed so I know that the GPU isn't dead. I've tried running her without the MXM card as well but the issue is still there. My only guess would be that the CPU is ghosting or that the mobo is dying.

memtest, switching OS, drives and all that has been performed as well but to no avail.... Thoughts?

hey guys i am working on my wifes GT60, i purchased from a friend with a dead board and no GPU. i bought a replacement board on aliexpress and flashed the bios so i could disable the GPU fan spinning (meridan x682x) works great for a few months now

i found a GTX 675M for 50 dollars today! great, but when i plug the card into the MXM slot it will not even spin the fans. Monday i am going to see if the local PC shop can bench test the card.

wondering if anyone has run accross a symptom of such, its almost like the GPU is shorting out the power to the laptop when inserted.

worse case scenario i can resell the 675m if i have to and keep using this thing with IGFX (or sell and buy a smaller laptop lol)

does the GPU work or is it installed? this happens to these when its not detected and you have to flash a bios that can disable Switchable graphics and put it in power down mode. i have a working one installed on my meridian x682x board in the gt60
