    Hi guys,

I am having issues with my GT72's screen color calibration. Comparing to pictures on the net, for example Far Cry 4 looks extremely dark; setting brightness, gamma never solved my problem.

Have you guys ever calibrated your GT72's screen? If yes, how? If no, let's figure out together, shall we? :D

    Cheers, have a good day!

    EDIT**

Just recently MSI added MSI True Color app to the 2QE page. HERE

    Direct download link: http://download.msi.com/uti_exe/nb/Install TrueColor20150324.zip

Just installed it and LOVE IT.. new favorite app, ALSO to note, I am no longer using any icc or icm items. Just this app to manage color.

    Fully and completely customizable. (sp)

It also integrates into system right-click for quick access but as you'll see in the pictures, you can turn that on or off.

    Hi folks!
I'm looking to purchase the GT72 Dom. Pro 208 model with 32GB RAM and 4X128GB SSD's set up with Super Raid. What I'm wanting to know is what versions of RAID can I set up with these drives? Since there's 4 drives I'm ultimately wanting to set them up in RAID-10. Is that something that could easily be done with these boards and controllers?

remove any custom or existing icc and on the install file try with RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR , don't see a reason why it should work on my GT72 2QE GTX980M and not on your system if it is the same .

Yeah, I am not sure why it wouldnt work. I only added Office and my Photo and Video Editing programs. My system otherwise is stock. I did see in the README that "its design to function with Windows 7 and Server 2008 OS" It never mentions Windows 8.1 as a requirement.

    Here is what Im seeing:

    When I click this Install.exe:

    file1.jpg

    I get this error:

    error1.jpg

When I click on this .exe ( Located inside the Export File ) it installs....

    file2.jpg

but when opening up the program I get this error:

    error2.jpg

Oh wow, you actually use the hybrid power feature? ive always tried to keep an eye on hybrid power but mine seems to never kick in, might i ask what you do on your laptop or what games you play to actually use beyond the 240w psu? do you overclock the gpu a lot?

Yeah, now we just need to wait and see why the nVidia 353.06 driver doesn't enable mobile G-Sync on our systems, given we know it can work from the leaked ASUS driver that, from what I remember, some folks managed to get working on their GT72s earlier in the year.

Personally, I'd be happy with 60Hz G-Sync on the LG/Philips IPS panel that came with my GT72 2QE-805UK system... If not officially may be someone can hack the driver.

[P.S. I've already emailed MSI UK support moaning. :) ]

Do we know if the gsync is just for the gpu, or if the actual laptop panel also supports the gsync feature? i believe the new nvidia driver has enabled gsync on laptop gpus already.

EDIT: nvm, upon further research the new gt72's have a 30-75 adaptive hz display and all existing gt72's have only 60hz screens be it tn or ips

    http://www.engadget.com/2015/06/01/nvidia-g-sync-comes-to-laptops/

"Those G-sync-enabled gaming laptops feature screens approved by NVIDIA with 75Hz refresh rates designed to cut tearing, input lag, stuttering and other problems."
The articles a pretty interesting read to see whats new for laptops this year.

So the reserve notification for Windows 10 just appeared. Will the GT72 perform in Windows 10? Anyone already look into this and happen to know what the quirks would be on? Thanks in advance for any feedback/comments.

I imagine that windows 10 would run on the gt72 like it would on any other high end windows laptop. Directx12 will have to remain to be seen how much of an improvement it will be, but from all accounts from developers so far its a sizeable step forward.
Im just excited il be having a proper start menu again, none of the metro UI BS.

    Which one you use?

    352.84 cause Witcher 3.

I make a Test cause the Hybrid Power. When i Play Project Cars in Heavy Rain and 25 other Cars my Power Consumtion jump over 246 Watt sometimes. Thats the Time i think the Battery comes in and combine the peaks. But i can play smotth in 60 fps with vsync on. So i think everything is all right.

I've noticed Sound Blaster cinema is now replaced with Nahimic. Can't find the installation package for our GT72. I wonder if that Nahimic will be an improvement over Sound Blaster Cinema? Or we'll never get that too?

well as always I'm always curious about this stuff and would like to see it on my system however after a long search and endless testing installing , reinstalling , mixing drivers , customizing and dear god knows what more I found what suits best tome and my sound system .

I went with plain Realtek drivers latest from Realtake page and I bought Creative X-Fi MB3 Solution which powers the on board ACL892 , from what ever I tested this gave me the best sound of all , perfect in any way for gaming , movies and music .

It was a risk as it costs 29 USD and with only few user reviews that I found on youtube but I don't regret paying for it . It is similar to CINEMA 2 yet different and with much more customizing options at hand.
I finally enjoy my "Dancing Keyboard" as well :D
My sound system is build over Logitech Z-5450 with Realtek-XFi MB3 5.1 analogue connected to the Speaker decoder box additionally Creative Sound blaster USB Omni 5.1 connected via TOS as a secondary device .
However I'm happy to test this Nahimic thing what ever it is ..sounds damn cool..NAHIMIC ,,brrr mysterious :)

Further edit on my original post's edit, it appears that the gt72's that have an ips panel are the same as the asus g751 that pcper managed to get the pre alpha of the gsync to be working. Judging as there has been no actual reported differences in the gsync g751 and the current model g751 i can only assume that it is the ips panel that has already been certified. This would mean that all the tn panel gt72's here have been SOL'd by msi and nvidia, while all the ips panel equipped gt72's can in the best case scenario just wait for a gsync update to their machines.

What kind of update ?? on which level ? as now it is clear that Nvidia has released drivers for mobile GFX whit GSYNC so what else can be updated ? and from who ? msi ? nvidia ? however I don't have the luxury of GSYNC on my GT72 , I fear that it is the panel it self which doesn't support GSYNC not GTX980M .

Hmm do you have the ips panel? i think it is the ips panel that exists already in the gt72's that can run gsync like how the g751 that pcper had could run gsync, asus and msi sourced their panels from the same place, and further, i dont believe that asus has listed any panel changes to their gsync g751 (although i could be wrong). That could indicate that the gsync is somewhat software based as well as to particular panels. In the best case scenario some of the existing gt72's with that ips panel can be upgraded to gsync capability. But this fully lies within the discretion of either msi or nvidia.

It will be both as nvidia want a fee to validate for G-sync. There is the potential of hacking it in perhaps.

According to a reply I got from MSI UK Support earlier today:

According to the serial no you provided to me,your graphic card is unable to support G-Sync function. Now we have two kinds GTX 980M Graphic card. One is with G-Sync function, and another is without G-Sync card.Your graphic card is without this function.

So it would appear that there is a difference with the GPU too. If this is more than a VBIOS issue and is a meaningful hardware change, it means that any upgrade path is going to be expensive. New LCD panel and GPUs... Probably cheaper to get the new model...

I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. These changes may be entirely so that nVidia can license and control Mobile G-Sync.

Iv just noticed that on msi support page another GT72 is listed as GT72 Dominator Pro G which indicates that his G may stand for GSYNC , If the IPS is the same as on older Dominator Pro's (without G) maybe there is a chance if we get our hands on vbios of thisGT72 G GTX980M .However if the panel is changed to something different...the chances are slim that we will ever have GSYNC on our GT72s without that damn G :(

Finally they also listed Dominators Pro by ITEM numbers and mine is :

GT72 Dominator Pro-444 (9S7-178131-444) actually on my box it says 448 (9S7-178131-448) however this is the same spec that 8 may be just country region
monitor is listed as 17.3" Full HD IPS

    as for Gominator Pro G:
    GT72 Dominator Pro G-1438 (9S7-178131-1438)
17.3" Full HD eDP Non Reflection

    GT72 Dominator Pro G-1423 (9S7-178131-1423)
17.3" Full HD eDP Non Reflection

obviously there is some changes and if this is the case ...looks grim for us to get the GSYNC

interesting enough for that GT72 G series there is NO downloads available at this time .

according to HW info 64 this is the panel build in my GT72DPro :

    LG Philips [Unknown Model: LGD0469]
    LG Display LP173WF4-SPF1
    Serial Number: Unknown
Date Of Manufacture: Week: 0, Year: 2014

According to GenTech info from other thread "The screen is LG DISPLAY/LP173WF4-SPF1 IPS panel." This is for g-sync version. So probably display OC to 75hz and Vbios mod for nv should help...

PS i want buy GT72 and i also want to know if old one can be tweaked to use G-sync... PS do you know how to change keyboard in this model?

hm to be honest I was able to put my panel to 75hz and that's about the max , who knows maybe if we receive a Vbios , officially or .."not so officially" form users that have these new Domintaors with GSYNC it may even work but it is all pretty unknown for now .

    As for your question about
GSYNC on older models ..here it is we don't know for sure yet , rumors are there , some early experiments proved that it can be however nothing solid so far .

don't know about the Keyboard though but why exchange it ? you always can buy an additional gaming keyboard and leave the original in tact . I actually using a combo of an low cost Logitech wirelesses Keyboard for typing and a G13 for gaming , don't need more.
