You need a signature from nvidia in the vbios (which msi paid them for in the G-sync models) to activate the feature. Technically any eDP panel can do it that's connected to the DGPU.

I have the same problem. Basically install like you did, but copy the both the files (ADJ.bin and backup.bin) in the CMN1735 folder (depending on your lcd panel) and just the two files into the stated path ProgramData\potrait displays\Truecolor\ . You might need to create the path if it's missing. And it should work.

In this case it should be technically possible to have the NVIDIA-signed vbios on older GT72... There is hope.

Should be fine, the gt80 dominator was advertizing a free upgrade to w10 at computex, if msi feels confident enough to advertise it, they should probably be generally well prepared for w10

Just a quick, early morning tip; anybody who experienced sudden crashes, random volatile FPS issues with Far Cry 4, downgrade your nVidia driver to 352.53 and will solve it.
Dunno what the flaming heck is going on with the guys at nVidia but this driver (comparing to the most recent "GAMING" one) provides me +4-5 FPS in AC4 Black Flag, Witcher 3 and as mentioned before heals the FC4 problems. Yep, I know, it is weird...
    Have a good day!

Not yet, but as I mentioned earlier, surely I am gonna wait 2-3 months to check a couple of reviews about it, to see what users experience, how actually mankind survive the upgrade and then make my decision. At the moment, I am totally satisfied with 8.1 though.

There is a whole year to upgrade so no need to rush it if the machine operating normally is vital.

Hey Guys I played some CS:GO (Maxed out Full HD) and noticed high temps on my GT72 2QE

    CPU:77 Celsius
    GPU: 73 Celsius

GPU is RAM and GPU +100 Mhz but no Voltage OC
CPU is Maxed to Multiplier x38 and undervoltage -30mv

    Are these temps normal?

Ambient temp is about 25-26 Celsius

    Thanks

    Hi,
My GPU is +135MHz at core and +600MHz at memory in MSI Afterburner with standard voltage. CPU settings are just like yours - x38 with -30mV.

Mine temps are (after about an 45 minutes of playing CS:GO with all the settings maxed out, only without motion blur):
    CPU max 69°C
    GPU max 70°C

But my ambient is about 22-23°C so i think your temps are normal.

There is a new Bios on the MSI site: E1781IMS.10S

Add "Intel VT-x Technology" and "Intel Virtualization Technology" in BSU.
Note For GT72 models with the 4th Generation Intel ® Core i7 Processor.

    What does this add?
    Is it Worth installing?

It appears to just be virtual machine technology, probably not worth your time installing if you do not run virtual machines that often

Whoo! I'm joining the club! Just sent the order for the new model with G-Sync through XoticPC a few minutes ago after about a month of back-'n-forth between this model and the Clevo P770ZM-G. Fact is I don't need a desktop CPU, and I like the MSI's cooler temperatures. The wait has begun. :D

Can someone please clear something up for me please? I'm looking at buying the Dominator Pro 208 model and I have heard conflicting reports about the CPU and type of screen that it would come with. It's listed as having the 4710 and the TN panel which is fine with me, but I also have heard where MSI switched it to the 4720 and IPS panel which are fine too. Will someone please tell me which screen and CPU it will actually have please? Any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated and I want to thank you all ahead of time.

Hey Code! The 208 model has the i7-4710hq processor and the TN panel. I checked XoticPC, GenTechPC, and PowerNotebooks and they all have those specs. :)

It now has the 4720 and IPS, at least on Amazon. They just haven't updated the spec sheet.

I was able to overclock my IPS panel to 80hz no problem and 80hz only... 90 and 100hz were too much. 75, 70 and 65 hz gave me issues though... did I do something wrong?

Not really considering that we have heard of people obtaining such overclock rates(just check the last 60 or so pages of this thread to see what I mean.) Just a warning though should something happen to your screen and MSI deems it was caused by you overclocking your screen they could say that you voided your warranty.

I've yet to see a failure you could contribute it to, but as with overclocking it is done at your own risk.

Did you notice any increase in smoothness of gameplays? I mean its locked to 60hz (so 60fps) right? does it even make sense to OC your screen? 0o o_O

Depending on the game, the framerate is locked or not, not every game are locked to 60 fps so it just depends of game and hardware associated... It does make sense to OC a screen to higher than 60 fps of course, it allows your screen to display all the frames rendered.

For games not locked to 60fps it can make a massive difference and many are not.

This also depends on graphics quality, and certain area of gameplay may drain more resources so if you want smooth gameplay it's best to use reasonable quality in order for fps to stay at minimum 60fps or higher.

Worked fine. Didn't check for the g-sync as you need a g-sync enabled display (I believe). As shown in the last picture in this page:
    http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/nvidia-g-sync-review-guide,2.html

As a side note, it may be a placebo effect, but the system overall, seems to run faster.. would have to run a system wide test to determine that.

Best to benchmark it with historical records if you have any, otherwise it's gonna be difficult to determine their discrepancies.

Thanks. But i noticed that the model with the new 5th Gen i7 CPU has a 980M with only 4GB of Vram instead of 8GB. Why? Can't we have 8GB Vram with the 5th Gen CPU?

    the i7 4710 + 980M 8GB is priced the same as the i7 5700 + 980M 4GB, which one offers better performance?

it's the same. both 4th gen and 5th gen core i7 makes no difference in gaming, and the same goes to 4GB and 8GB. if 980M can handle 4k, then 8GB might be useful. unfortunately that's not the case

Hello guys. I have a question.

I bought a new pair of earphones to use in the office so I don't bother anyone with my music.

Nothing fancy, just some normal earphones from amazon (Betron).

When I plug them in to the headphone port, I keep getting a 'hissing' white noise sound even with nothing playing. It's not loud but still noticeable. Sound plays normally over that.

Weird thing is, when I plug them into the Line out port, there's no hissing sound. What's the difference between the two ports? Is it safe to use the Line out for earphones?

Any ideas about what's going on? I don't remember my steelseries siberia 2 making any sounds like that in the headphone jack.

Hey guys! Yesterday I got my display to run at 90hz so I enjoyed playing super smooth far cry 3 and bioshock infinite while using only 87% of my gpu power.

When I came back today, the screen of my laptop was off and I was unable to wake it, so I thought, fair enough maybe the overclock was too much (even though it was stable for ten hours straight). So I did a force shutdown... It booted up all fine with no problems, saw my beautiful desktop and my display still ran at 90hz. Now when I go to start up far cry 3, it runs at 45 FPS. When I turn off vsync and turn it on again the cap jumps back up to 90 (it now glitches to 45 every time)... But this time, I only got 72 frames with 100% of my gpu usage. Something has changed... Some setting I don't know but I can't get my gpu to run at it's full power again. I'm using the eco off smc power plan, the high performance power plan in windows and I have hybrid power enabled in the MSI dragon army gaming center. I reset all my 3d game options back to the default setting but still, nothing helped. Do you know what I can do to fix this? It's some software thing limiting it.

I also tried playing some other games, all ran less well than yesterday. I'm afraid something in the driver has ****ed up.
    Monitoring stats with MSI afterburner.

Hi all, new to the forums - just got my 2QE

Wondering if someone can help - I bought the machine with just the 1TB HDD.

I now want to get a couple of M.2 SSDs but wonder if anybody knows whether the SSD adapter/caddy is inside my machine (with no SSDs).

    Cheers

Easiest way to tell whether you have the caddy or not would be to open up the bottom panel and have a quick check. If you dont have the m.2 caddy, you could potentially source one from an msi reseller or msi themselves directly. However i would recommend a normal ssd as your boot drive in the case that you dont have the caddy, as raid while it does give a speed benefit the chance of failure and corruption of the system is more likely.
