I did try to flash my non G with G vbios but it didn't go , I flowed the instructions and once it was so far to flash the vbios the flasher reported ERROR and the operation stopped , then I flashed with the one for non G cards and this was successful.

There are force commands that will flash it regardless of hardware but this can easily brick the system.

Maybe Nvidia added some hardware to the g-sync version of graphics card? Or it could just be the case of hardware id being different to prevent owners of older cards flashing with g-sync vbios. Anyone wants to take the risk and force the firmware?

Yes with the old hacked drivers. Not with the retail ones yet. No new hardware it's just digital signatures.

Unfortunately this didn't work for me ,after installation and reboot , I couldn't get to the login screen some flashing and flickering I believe it set refresh too high , got hard time to enter safe mode and clean the system , then after I got back in Windows and installed the drivers fresh and then this litlle G app, same story again ..I have to say I was using the latest nvidia hot fix drivers .

So this should work for you... (but you have tested them with latest drivers, try this older ones, if that one guy succeeded so you can too).

OK I was successful to get this at least working , the refresh is forced too high , there is only one refresh 60 , I had to create a custom resolution with 55Hz to get the picture stable . there is no option in driver that indicate that GSYNC is enabled , no Icon in Task bar I have no Idea if it works or not , if it works you cant control it form anywhere . SO honestly...I don't know .

    Update:
When I start a game the refresh is again forced too high and my screen shimmers badly ,so I didnt want to risk and I uninstalled everything..maybe it could work I believe it is not an HW issue with our "non" G cards but I'm also not sure that msi will give us the opportunity to upgrade the card with a new vbios with GSYNC properly implemented.
Then again it may be only my panel maybe some pople will have luck so the panel can stand higher refresh rates , I was testing mine before and it was stable till 75 . However I don't even know how much is the refresh set once that little trick is installed , it is reported 60 but obviously it is much higher .

    I was the guy :)
I can confirm that everythings is working perfect on mine, just a few games (especially crysis 3) are suffering from black screens when the fps goes down (even the asus owners have this kind of problem)

As i said im using the old 347.88, mine GT72 has the ips screen (LP173WF4-SPF1) and the second last bios released by MSI (10R)

You can check the g sync status from the nvidia control panel -> change resolution, here is mine:

not my case unfortunately , no GSYNC info under LAPTOP Display and in REFRESH RATE there was only 60Hz and flickering in desktop until I made custom resolution of 55 then it was stable .

on the left side you also have SETUP G-sync it wasn't there for me :(

also using the latest firmware 10R

You also get that g-sync tab too to choose if it's on or off. If you don't want to mod firmware those old hacked drivers and making sure you have the right panel is the only choice.

I'm with dvojinov on this. I cant get it to show G-SYNC option in driver properties despite trying both MSI official 347.88 driver and NVIDIA website 347.88 Driver. Followed exactly the instructions on clean install reboot, then install the tool then reboot. still doesnt show.. Mine is a GT72 with chi mei TN display i7 4710HQ

What model of gt72 do you have?
Problems is your tn screen I think... As i know just the lg ips (mounted on the asus g751 series as well ) has the refresh rate up to 75 hz natively

I have a question cant decide yet to buy this laptop im worried about screen panel 60hz its playable online competitive games like csgo dota etc? Because the sager np9773 can play with 100hz i dont remember how bad is play games with 60hz since i use 120hz monitor.. Or you just can OC the msi gt72 panel to 100hz or at least 75hz?

the tn can do at least 75 hz using custom resolution setting in Nvidia control panel afaik ( i tried it with previous driver versions and it worked) .

the real question tho: who has the cajones to flash that 8gb g-sync bios over their vanilla card to see if that unlocks the gsync option?

from what i read gsync is linked to the card and not the display so that bios should get things moving in the right direction.

    the exact warning is :

WARNING: None of the firmware image compatible PCI Device ID's
match the PCI Device ID of the adapter.
    Adapter PCI Device ID: 13D7
Firmware image PCI Device ID: 1617
WARNING: Firmware image PCI Subsystem ID (1462.1140)
does not match adapter PCI Subsystem ID (1462.1129).

on a slightly different (old) topic msi has sorta fixed the color calibration problem (lack of it) for gt 72 owners altho they dont have the actual downloads in the right place yet. you can download Msi True Color from the PE 70 download page and get all the right color options for your gt72 TN or IPS . This software is advertised for new gt72 models, but the download sections for the new gt72 models are not fully up to date yet so this software is not there yet: http://www.msi.com/support/nb/PE70-2QE.html#down-utility&Win8.1 64

i can confirm on my TN that the MSI version of "Srgb" is basically as good as using a 250$ colorimeter.

now whose gona try the vbios ? :)

    Hi,
Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this.
    I have the GT72 2QE, 16gb 980m version.
I have noticed in the system event logs that I am getting the warning:The speed of processor 0 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. EventID: 37 Task Category: (7)
This only alerts against the 1 core and not all.
I have reflashed the latest BIOS and EC. Updated the latest chipset drivers and it still occurs. All from the MSI site for my make\model.
Even factory reset it, reinstalled all the drivers and windows updates.
This occurs in any power profile and any dragon center performance setting. EG: High performance on both.
    Anyone advise if this normal.

If I run hwinfo with afterburner and have the OSD on for the core clocks, they drop from 3500 to anywhere between 997 and 1500 when running the witcher 3. But it does this in any game.
If I run furmark, as it uses the cpu and gpu it doesnt clock down.
Something must be saying to the cpu to clock down as its not needed at 100%. However, I would have thought the windows power high performance power setting would at least force the cpu to stay at its none turbo clock max? EG: 2500

CPU temps never go above 52 when running the witcher 3, and the gpu stays at 70.

As far as i can tell, all temps are fine, the CPU is working fine as I can see all cores are working, it adjusts its speed fine, turbo is working etc

Any advice is welcome. Its just reading about this message, it usually indicates throttling of some sort...
    Thanks

From what i learn it might be caused by PSU. (Still not sure yet)

Look at intel XTU and its monitoring if you want explicit reasons for any throttle.

What's your current BIOS/EC version? Just want to double check.

CPU will not run at 100% in most of applications except Prime95.

That's a good question, and a difficult comparison.
    Comparing a GT72 w/980M vs Sager 9773 w/980M, they have different CPU
GT72 uses 4710HQ while Sager 9773 uses 4790 desktop processor.
Desktop CPU's performance is better than mobile CPU, but the heat is also higher.
Per Passmark, i7-4790 is rated at 10073 points vs i7-4710HQ at 7923 points.
i7-4790 temperature can max out at 90+ Celsius while 4710HQ can max out at 80- Celsius.

However, if you can undervolt the CPU then it becomes way cooler at around 80 Celsius, you can also refer to HTWingNut's review below.
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...l-impressions-and-review-by-htwingnut.767349/

So the choice is yours. :)

No, it cannot since the base connector does not link to any PCIe signal.

Thanks for the reply.. Well im looking between the msi with broadwell CPU vs 9773 cant decide yet... I like the sager because i can change the CPU and the GPU.. But i dislike the heat. Stock vs stock both laptop what you recommend? Because if i undervolt CPU with the sager also performance decrease... I want a laptop with stock config do not worry me overheating and throttling

Well looks that he love story between msi and Creative is come to an end ,after msi offered NAHIMIC the Creative Cinema download si gone .
Not a big deal for me as I wasn't using it any way instead I use Creative X-Fi MB3 software with on board Realtek and now that I tested NAHIMIC i have to say the Creative MB3 is far more superior in everything , you have to pay extra 29$ though but it is worth it.

Hi Meaker, in my case XTU doesn't give me any info why it throttled.

Checked my event viewer - i was having the same message from time to time (every couple of days, but i play games every day)... dont know nothing about this, during games - there were no problems...
Just did a CPU stress test in intel XTU for 10 min, plus was switching on another cpu stresser, no cpu throttling showed up, no errors !

It will throttle when you use both CPU+GPU, did you use any monitoring software during games?

I just read a review about GT72 2QD that had some throttling issue

I've known about the throttling issue for quite some time now, and it's pretty easy to test. If you run 3Dmark firestrike standard test, at the end of the test, you can view the graphs. Notice on test 2, the cpu would throttle to a very low 800Mhz range, which is ridicilous. Even in test 1, the throttling is evident after half way through the benchmark. I'm running on the latest BIOS E1781IMS.10T and latest EC 1781EMS1.510
