Here is the response from MSI:
We're very sorry, the website was temporary offline due to the website maintenance and it's been fixed now.

Thank you.

So the site is indeed there. However I can not see how someone can navigate to it unless they have the direct link.
-
-
After a follow up question, about how to get there without a direct link this is their response:
Dear Dimitrios,
Apologize for the misunderstanding.
The upgrade only model is for the people who perform a Windows 10 upgrade which needs the compatible drivers.
To know how to find the driver download page for your notebook:
Your notebook is GT72 2QE, once you've type the name in the search column located at the top right corner of MSI website, you can find your notebook product page and also the driver download page.
Let me know if you have any further questions, thank you.

I told people not to panic
MSI have never been ones to just yank downloads like that.
-
They even added a W10 selection to GT72 2QE 4thGen and that's new
also a few updates, under UTILITY tab .
-
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
Yup, driver is finally available.
Download -
yes! it's finally available! after many complains they finally stepped up! thank you all
-
Great news! However I doubt I'll be trying any of these, other than maybe the audio driver, considering the ones I already have seem to work!
-
Hmmmm might take the plunge with Win 10 now.

There's a new nahimic version on the site as well. 1.2.9, together with a newer audio driver
Installed it and tested with VLC once and it seems to work! 1.2.7 did not enhance VLC sound at all. -
Does the GT72 2QE DOMINATOR PRO (Haswell) have nvme? If not, I presume the AHCI version would work ok?
The Samsung SM951 256GB M.2 PCIe SSD (NVMe model) up to 2150/1260 sequential read/write data transfer rates
The Samsung SM951 256GB M.2 PCIe SSD (AHCI model) up to 2150/1200
Looks quite a step up speed wise. -
Hi GT72S 6QE Dominator Pro G owners!
Has anyone tried the new .10A BIOS yet?
Does it finally fix the G-sync issue? And does G-sync work with drivers directly from NVIDIA (not from MSI website) and can you even install them (without modifying any .inf file)?
I am interested in this notebook, but can't possibly buy it if the advertised features don't even work as they should. -
I would follow up and let them know that, that the links pointing to many laptops has disappeared, and there is no way to find the landing pages for this and other older laptops.
You could suggest they have a Legacy link at the same level as the other model list page, and then have a large list of all the previous models with landing pages still online. That way the huge list of older laptops wouldn't make searching for new / current models difficult, which is likely why they removed the older laptops from the list.
Thanks for the update -
Their reply to that was that the model still appears if you search for "GT72 2QE" in the search bar.
I tried it and it truly does work.hmscott likes this. -
My AC adaptor (or something else?) has started acting up lately... [GT72 2QE]
When under load, the laptop thinks it has been disconnected from AC power and switches to battery momentarily, resulting in a stutter from loss of processing power as well as a dimming of the screen... After 1-2 seconds, it goes back to normal.
I am started to get worried here and I have no idea what is going on. I have contacted MSI support but I fear that the will ask me to send the laptop in and this is impossible, as I need it daily for work!
Any ideas or suggestions? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Try downclocking the GPU a 100mhz or so on core and mem, if it still happens then there may be another issue, if it happens less or not at all a new AC adapter is called for.
-
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
On the other way, when an AC adapter is aging it also reduces its available wattage similar to an aging battery is doing. In this case, it is recommended to change AC adapter to either the same or higher (wattage). -
Thank you for your replies.
So can we say for sure (or almost sure) that if there's something wrong, it is the adapter and not the laptop itself? Because that's my fear right now.
P.S.: Today it did not happen at all... -
Hey all I need a bit of help with a USB issue.
I'm running Win10 but the problem happened right out of the box with Windows8.
When I try and attach certain HW to a usb port it connects and disconnects over and over. Does anyone know how to fix this? -

Hello, how are you?
I have a question.
Do all gt72 2qd with the i7 5700hq and the 6gb gtx 970 have GSync?
Thanks.
Cheers!

Hello! I received my gt72s 6q dom pro yesterday. The first thing i do is to visit msi website and start download drivers. Intel chipset and nvidia vga driver are the first ones i attempt to install.
However i cant get eighter of them successfully installed. The intel chipset driver cancels mid-installation, followed by a USB connection sound and one of the two messages "kernel security check failure" or "irql_not_less_or_equal".
Is this due to me attempting to install nvidia driver before the chipset driver? Because that i did, in my eagerness to get the gpu on line asap. What happened is that the nvidia vga driver didnt install properly, and during last night i couldnt start GeForce experience without getting an error.
Today however, GeForce experience seems to open properly, and the driver listed on my system is 353.96. I dont know if this is related to the chipset issue, but these actions are pretty much all i´ve done to the computer so far.
Also in the device manager the Nvidia driver listed is not the 353.96, but 10.18.13.5396, date 2015-08-20. Is this how it should look?
Excuse me if im being confusing, im not exactly a pro on computers as you understand. What i wonder is, how can i solve this chipset driver issue?
Very greatful for explanations!
The BIOS version if of any relevance: E1782IMS.109 -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Look at the last 5 digits of the long version number 3.5396
It's the same one. Windows will automatically update the drivers. If you have no unknown devices then don't worry about the chipset.

Let me know if you've found any fixes that have worked for you. Thanks -
I just received my GT72S 6QE and I'm seeing interesting things with it. First the LCD panel does not allow for the "advertised" 75hz overclock. I can only pick 60, and when I force 75hz it makes the screen all fuzzy. The second thing I noticed is that the 1 yr Xsplit license that is supposed to come with the laptop is nowhere to be found. No card in the box with a code on it, and it doesn't auto-add when you launch the software either. Has anyone else experienced either of these two issues with the 6QE?

Can you post a screen shot showing Change resolution under Nvidia Control Panel?
-
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
FYI.
To enable windowed G-SYNC simply go to “Set up G-SYNC” in the NVIDIA control panel, select “Enable G-SYNC for windowed and full screen mode”, and click the “Apply” button.

The good German Notebook Enthusiast
Hi,
Just became the owner of a MSI GT Series GT72 Dominator Pro G-1666 G-Sync Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 5700HQ (2.70 GHz) with Win 10 and the 980 with 4gb. Newegg brought it to me and I have some questions for you pros:
- can i get win 7 drivers for this machines as MSI indicated after asking ,that there arent win 7 driver for this machines available, at least not through msi
- After asking MSI what notebook I have in order to locate the support chapter they said its 2QE or QE2
- Can somebody tell me what the 1666 stands for as I am having a hard time googling it in fact, when registering the product with MSI, they threw the 14xx model back at me when entering my serial number.
- is this actually an ips panel? Im impressed by the quality and we compared with my buddies ROG 751 ips and although the MSI looks a bit dull compared to the ROG but there is no bleeding whatsoever and viewing angles are the bomb
- Can it be that this subwoofer from Dynaudio is actually doing nothing at all?
Thanks guys and hang in there. Hvent encountered any probs yet but would like to do a clean install w/o the damn bloatware and keep the Win 10 SSD in the safe for reselling purposes. -
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
Therefore, please try the Win8.x drivers first.
2. This is 2QE series.
3. 1666 is just a sub-model number which indicates a particular configuration from MSI, this number changes by region.
4. The model will indicate IPS if it comes one, otherwise it is not.
5. Woofer is limited, but it works nevertheless. And this is a feelable difference. -

Ok, so I installed Nahimic "package". Which included the drivers. I've never been a fan of the sound mods on the laptops. Removed the SBC2 after a couple months. So up until now, I've been riding with just drivers and no second layer audio enhancements. Which makes the games sound as they should. Anyhow, enough about opinions. Not really fond of this Nahimic either, (quite cheesy sound) [no offense to those devs] nothing I can tweak or change to make a game sound better. So I'm going to remove it and maybe find a (even if its a paid app) simple 10 band eq to tweak out my audio.
With that said. My biggest question is... who is controlling the subwoofer. Because even with the latest realtek drivers that come with the Nahimic package. Realtek doesn't see the sub. At the very least, the MSI GT72 2QE should show that it is a 2.1 sound system. Left, Right and Sub. With simulated Center. But it does not.
So yeah, in order to have a working sub woofer. Am I forced to reinstall SBC2? If so, why?

Dunno why 75 is so touchy, but I usually just run it at 85Hz anyway. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It could be some weird harmonic going on somewhere, reminds me of the clocking holes you used to see where particular FSBs on motherboards would be bad but if you bumped it up a couple of MHz you could be fine.
-
If anyone has the new Skylake version of this machine, can they share the screen and sound quality? I'm actually going to be using my laptop for a lot of multimedia (movies, TV, sports) so those are very important to me and I can't find any reviews on the sound card / speakers in particular.
