Does anyone know how the steelseries engine stores keyboard layouts to the rgb keyboard? (by a registry?) I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to script custom animations for the keyboard.

EDIT: why does the core clock of my gpu lower itself by 100Mhz under load?

Possibly throttle down due to high temperature.
Do you know the temperature at that time?

    Is my GT72 2QE (Haswell) DDR3L 2133MHz compatible?

I'm thinking of getting faster RAM to eliminate bottlenecks.

Better way to ask: will it actually run at 2133MHz?

The processor cannot because it only supports 1333 & 1600MHz, see below URL.
http://ark.intel.com/products/78930...7-4710HQ Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.50 GHz)

You may be able to overclock the system to 1866 but that's already the max.

Although the spec says 1333/1600 for all Haswell / HM87 motherboards, my experience and many others report that 2133mhz g.skill DDR3L SODIMM's work in Haswell Asus G750's/751's and Haswell/Broadwell MSI GT80's.

In my Broadwell MSI GT80 SLI-263 laptop and Haswell G750JH/JX 2133mhz g.skill memory worked great.

Sandra Integer Memory throughput goes from about 14 GB/sec to 27 GB/sec, in my GT80 SLI-263:
    2133mhz memory bandwidth.PNG

I know some Haswell Alienware 17's / Clevo's could only manage 1866mhz on 2133mhz SODIMM's, while others could run at 2133mhz.

I would say it's worth a try, even if you only get 1866mhz :)

Check out all the 5 start ratings, and the reviews:

    G.SKILL Ripjaws 32GB (4 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 2133 Laptop Memory Model F3-2133C11Q-32GRSL - $214.99
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231776

    G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 2133 (PC3L 17000) Laptop Memory Model F3-2133C11D-16GRSL - $104.99
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231760

It's better to buy a 4 x 8gb kit pre-tested to all work together rather than piece together 2 2 x 8gb kits over time.

You have 1x SATA II port and 4x SATA III based M.2 slots, the lower models come with another 2.5" slot (at gen III speed) instead of the 4x M.2. You could order a cable and abandon any M.2 drives. The other option is to get an m.2 to 2.5" adapter and borrow power from the existing 2.5" bay.

I have an MSI GT72 2QE Dominator Pro-682UK, I added 2 extra m.s ssds and then installed win10 (from iso). I want to reset to factory settings including win8. Is there a partition on the hdd to do this or any simple way? Thanks.

No, this is fine, it throttles down when it hits 92 Celsius.
What's your existing BIOS & EC firmware version? You can find this information in the BIOS under System Information at the main setup page.

Ok, I have this exact model (MSI GT72 2QE Dominator Pro-682UK). I installed 347.88 drivers using clean install and I still get a black screen on reboot. Any suggestions. Running win8.1. Getting bored of restoring macrium image when it doesn't work

Edit: my bios is E1781IMS.10F where can I get 10R?

Edit2: Anyone link to start to finish complete instructions for getting this to work?

Disabled driver signing whilst installing g-tools, rebooted, then re-enabled driver signing, rebooted again, and bang it worked :D

Start to finish instructions for anyone that wants to try this. Works on GT72 2QE with LG IPS screen running windows 8/8.1.

    1. Only use 347.88 drivers. Do a clean install.
    2. Disable driver signing.
    3. Reboot.
    4. Install G-Tools 2 beta
    5. Re-enable driver signing (complete the steps as for disabling).
    6. Reboot.
    7. Profit (check nvidia control panel for the 'G-Sync capable' green logo).

Damn.... I have just impulse bought 2x 16GB kit as 32GB was OOS.

Wait... Are you saying G-Sync works on non-gsync certified GT72?

Wow am I reading this correctly? Can you switch from nVidia to Intel GPU from within the BIOS?

Can this only happen in an unlocked BIOS?

Question about the GT72 Dominator Pro G-034 - The HDD slot is it still Sata 2 or is it now Sata 3? Thinking about purchasing this but would like to replace the HDD with a 850 evo 1TB I already own and not be slowed down by the slower interface.

Lol I know about that... I own the laptop... But biggest problem is that I can't switch the GPU from the BIOS so that I can boot directly into Linux without Windows.

In his screenshot it looks like there's a GPU switching option in the BIOS.

EDIT: Reinstalling the realtek driver and nahimic fixed the issue (for now).

Indeed, we all now how to swith with the button while we are in an OS, but what we want is to be able to switch at bios level BEFORE the boot of the OS. If Svet did, why the hell MSi doesn't put it ???

All manufacturers have the same reason, lock it down so users don't cause the system to fail to boot. These options are set to hide by default.

Come on, tell me what is wrong in switching dgpu to integrated during boot instead of booting, activating button to change, reboot, change gpu during boot, boot to os ?
I don't understand, this is not overclocking, overvolting or temperature management this is basic gpu switch...
For some advanced overclocking options I understand the position of manufacturer but for this, I don't !

What's the recommended thermal paste for GT72? I have not done complete disassembly on this laptop, but guessing I will need thermal compound and some cleaning solution as well. Faster memory should be arriving today :)

IC Diamond is a good choice ! With OC +200 core /+400 mem my gpu never reached 70°C w/o cooling boost.

Btw. is there anyone here in this forum running G-Sync (not hacked/modded) on a GT72 and has the Panel LG Display LP173WF4-SPF1 ? I need the monitor.inf or EDID (Raylar EDID file .dat format) data. I am looking for some data inside the inf or EDID. Pls pm me if u have such a notebook with the lg display mentioned before.

Switching during operation requires different MUX hardware and custom drivers.

MSI for best future compatibility have kept it as a hardware switch at boot.

Software switching requires ending most programs anyway.
