Alrighty, I'll avoid alcohol for the keyboard.
I've read that using a damp cloth and a 1 part dishwash detergent mixed with 5 part water solution is the best.

Is it safe to get updates from official Nvidia driver site? and to just update Nvidia driver and not integrated graphics driver, as I have no plans of using the integrated graphics anyway...

Yes, you can get it directly from www.nvidia.com, or use GeForce Experience which delivers the driver to your PC and loads it directly.

Yes, you can use the GeForce Experience software, though I find a manual loading of the driver ideal (especially if you need a clean install).

Has anyone had any experiences with GT72S Dragon Edition 4k?
    Screen bleeding?
    Any known issues?
    Performance compared to 1080p version?

I've briefly used a couple. Didn't notice screen bleed on either, but that is an IPS panel, so there may be some present on some panels. No issues particular to the system/panel but I only used it briefly. Trying to run at 4k is going to significantly impact your frame rates, something that runs 60 FPS at 1080 in Ultra is going to run under 30 in 4K on that 980M.

I'm pretty sure the Dragon Edition 4K comes with the 980 DT?

    It does indeed.
Thanks. Got a bit of light bleeding in the lower right corner but can live with that. Gotta throw some 4k content at it.

That's right, though the 980 DT for laptops seems like a very limited run, not too many available right now.

If it's true that the Pascal cards aren't standard MXM, are those of us MSI promised upgradeability just left in the wind?

    What do you mean?

They will be MXM so you can upgrade your previous module.

Pretty sure that Pascal GPUs will be MXM. MSi still advertise on their website the upgradeability as one of the key features on their GT72S series.

Would be daft for them to try and back out.

From the extensive reading i've done, IPS panels will have some sort of screen bleeding, not that much.
I have a 1080p IPS panel and i have some slight screen bleeding on the bottom left. It's slightly visible only when i look at a black background, very visible if i put the brightness to full. So far i can live with it because i don't really come across those two scenarios i mentioned

I have just realised that the 4K screen does not support G-Sync.
    That's a bit upsetting.

I haven't heard of this, and expect approximately the same setup as before, with lower end and thin/light units having a soldered card to save space/initial manufacturing overhead, and enthusiast models like the GT series still having the MXM socket. Note, I do not yet have proof of this since at this point nothing has shipped, but I see no reason that the GT series will change.

There are so many ports on this beast and I'm totally out of the loop with latest technology... Can any of you suggest what I should install to max out the internal storage? Replacing everything with the latest and greatest, like a wish list if you will.

The Intel drivers are for if you put an intel wireless card in your system. If your card is still Killer, the Intel drivers won't work with it.

There was an MSI conference in my country and i was in talks with one of the Notebook specialists from Taiwan itself.
He managed to answer most of my questions.

Regarding the MXM Pascal gpu's, yes they will come. But for people who own the non 's' version of the laptop (like me sadly) there's a slim chance it may not because the mobo is different (HM as opposed to the CM mobo on the s version)

But then again, the MXM pascals havent released yet so i would take this info like a pinch of salt. I still do hope that the non s laptop gets the Pascal MXM

The GT72 laptop does use the CM236. This is the one I have:
    http://www.xoticpc.com/msi-gt72-dominator-g-831.html

See the technical specs in that link. Good to hear that it will become available at some point.

I dunno, dude in the Pascal thread posted some pics he shouldn't have, which included the internals of a GT72 review unit purported to hold a "1080M", and the card looked very different from standard MXM.

I have the exact same laptop, the 831. I was under the influence that it had the HM mobo , looks like i have nothing to worry about
That link is still in my "To purchase" bookmark tab in my browser. High time i clear it off :D :D

Hope it isnt too much trouble to get a link to the pictures, i'm interested to see what the design looks like for MXM.

They should start designing MXM cards so that you dont have to buy a whole new heat pipe set with it. That's the only disadvantage we have as a modular laptop GPU

The CM has more features / options including the VT-D and VT-X. So it's a good thing it's not the HM.

Unfortunately the NDA ninjas wiped out all evidence. I'll ask around on whether anyone was able to save them.

nope, i havent. I was afraid it was a virus or something but I'm running Norton so it cant be. I'll be running a full scan then after that i will reinstall the killer network drivers. But if anyone does know what is the cause to this, do let me know.

Also, i constantly switch from LAN to wifi. LAN when gaming, Wifi when i need the laptop with me to watch TV shows. SO idk if the constant plugging in of the ethernet cable has created these 'adapters' which is unusual because i've never come across that before on a laptop

Looks like a virus a huge network driver bug. Did you install any VPN or virtualbox ? It could be a corrupt install creating many tap adapters...

Nope, none of those. I do however have Office 2013 installed. Word and Excel only.
I've read about autoKMS causing the issue but i dont have autokms on my pc, i was smart enough to use it while it was on my hard drive and not leave it on my laptop however i may uninstall word and excel. So far i uninstalled all the tap adapters manually, i shall restart and see if it comes back. If so, bye bye word and excel

a "proper" autoKMS would not create that many adaptors. And you don't have to get rid of it as it is reactivating your office licence once every 180 days.

    YES.

I can confirm that there was a major Windows 10 update and from left to right all my drivers were crashing and wifi was messed up.
I've reinstalled the drivers that were giving me issues, so far so good in terms of wifi and steelseries and etc.
I do however have an issue with nahimic. it keeps crashing when it launches so the new Windows updated pretty much broke Nahimic 2. i shall uninstall it and wait until they come up with a fix

    UPDATE:

The folks at Nahimic are already prepared so for those of you who cant launch Nahimic, download it off their Facebook page as the MSI website will take some time to update the drivers

It stopped working for me. What i did was: I manually searched for the dragon gaming shortcut and clicked it, it then asked for permission to make changes and whatever and i accepted those. now it launches without crashing. Give it a try and let me know

Thanks for the help , that dint work for me , neither did full uninstall and reinstall of the dragon app , setting admin privileges , nothing ,it just popups the little try symbol of the performance status and then it vanishes.
